MOONEYES Dragster

MOONEYES Dragsterと言っても1960年代に米国Revelle社から発売されたMOONEYES Dragsterのプラモデルです。
当時Dragsterの中で名声を博したMOONEYES DragsterはMOON Equipment Companyのハイパフォーマンスパーツの開発・テスト用にDean MOONにより製作されました。新品パーツの開発だけに留まらず、実際のレースでも数々の記録を作る名車となり、後にRevelle社の宣伝活動でヨーロッパを廻ったMOONEYES Dragsterは今でも現地で語り継がれるDragsterの一台です。
このプラモデルは当時人気絶頂のMOONEYES Dragsterと23年 Sanitary T'Bucket の2台セット、沢山のオプションパーツの中から色々な組み合わせで作れる夢のあるキットでした。

当時はどんな人がこのキットを作ったのでしょうか？この当時のRevelleのキットにはMicky ThompsonのAttempt 1とかEd Roth's Outlow ＆ Beatnik Bundit等、楽しい車が沢山ありました。一部キットは復刻再販されてますがMOONEYES Dragsterは残念ながらありません。だから余計に貴重なのです。
1963年にMOONEYES　Dragsterキットが発売され、1995年にKenji OkazakiのMOONEYES Funny Carが同じくRevelleから発売されました。どちらも今では入手不可能な貴重品です。

MOONEYESの名前はこのDragsterから来ました。

MOONEYES Dragster, its not real Dragster but 1/24 Plastic Models released from Revelle Inc USA.

Dean MOON made MOONEYES Dragster for development trial of High performance parts by MOON Equipment Company, called Quarter Mile Test Bench and MOONEYES Dragster was most famous among the dragsters at that time. It has became a legend as not just for development of new parts but also the fact that MOONEYES Dragster became famous for breaking records of racing and later traveled around Europe with Revelle inc promotion.

This 1/24 plastic model is a package of MOONEYES Dragster and 23 Sanitary T'bucket. It came with many option parts to combine to create your own and had dream. This kit even had Japanese instruction and was sold in Japan. I wonder who had bought and built them back them. Revelle 1/24 plastic model series had many fun car like Micky Thompson's Attempt 1, Ed Roth's Outlaw and Beatnik Bundit etc. Some of kits are reproduced but MOONEYES Dragster is not and that why its rare.

In 1963 MOONEYES Dragster kit was first sold and in 1995 Kenji Okazaki's MOONEYES Funny Car was also released by Revelle. Now both kit is not easy to get and very rare item. That's where name of MOONEYES came from.
