ちょっと古いDrag Race T'shirts

アメリカと言えばTシャツ、Raceと言えば勿論Tシャツ、Drag Race場での楽しみの一つは各Race TeamのオリジナルTシャツを買う事ですね。レースファンはお気に入りのTeamのTシャツを着てレース場にやって来ます。勿論、MOONファンはMOON Tシャツです。今回は僕が昔に買ったTシャツを紹介します。

今NHRA主催のレースに行くと、大きなノベルティー販売トレーラーが各TeamのノベルティーやTシャツを販売しています。沢山の商品がありますがどれも同じ感じであまりピンとこないのです。特にTシャツのタッチは皆同じ感じで、チームの個性が感じられないので、最近はまず買う事がなくなりました。

3週間前のNHRAではVon Dutch RacingのTシャツをお土産に一枚久しぶりに買いました。何年振りでしょうか。 僕がこれらのTシャツを買った時代は、各チームがそれぞれ独自のデザインのTシャツをピットで売っていましたから、購入の際にドライバーにサインを貰ったり話せたり、レースファンとチームの距離が今まで以上に近かった時代です。
まず1979年購入のDon "Snake" PrudhommeのTシャツはフロントプリントのみ、車はArrow(セレステ）です。
2枚目は1981年購入の"Assassination"というこれもArrowです。有名だったかどうか覚えてませんが、カラーが気に入って購入したのを覚えています。

昔は本当に綺麗なペイントのレースカー多かったのですが、ステッカーの発展でだいぶ雰囲気は変わって来ました。
ここに描いてある"AA FC"というのは今のTop Fuel Funny Carの事で、昔はニトロ使用を"AA"（ダブルエー）呼び、アルコール使用を"BB"(ダブルビー）と呼んでいました。"FC"が　ご存知のようにFunny Carの略です。

最後は1980年購入のTom "The Mongoose" McEwen Corvette Funny Carです。
フロントはCoors コルベットのプリント、バックには各メジャー スポンサーのロゴがプリントされています。 どれも当時に購入したTシャツで、古着で購入した物ではありません。どれも個性があって楽しいデザインですが、古いTシャツはシミが沢山でてくるので着れませんね。 来週もう一回Old Tシャツを特集します。

Talking of "America", "T'shirts" comes up in my mind.
Talking of "Race", "T'shirts"comes up in my mind for sure. Buying original race team T'shirts at Drag Raceway is one way of having fun at race. Race fans ware their favorite Teams' T'shirt to go to the raceway. Of course MOON fans ware MOON T'shirts. On this issue, I will introduce T'shirts I bought in past.

Nowadays at NHRA Championship, huge apparel trailers are there and selling novelty goods and T'shirts but all items seems same and does not strike me to purchase. Especially T'shirts, they all have same touch to design and I don't buy them anymore as I don't see unique Team T'shirts.

3 weeks ago at NHRA, I bought Von Dutch Racing T'shirts for souvenir. It has been a long time since the last time I bought one. Back in the days when I bought these T'shirts, each Team used to sell own original design T'shirts at their pit and when you buy them you get autograph from driver and have chance to talk with driver which really help to keep Race fan and Team in close touch.

The first T'shirt is one I bought in 1979, Don "Snake" Prudhomme T'shirt with US Army sponsored Plymouth Arrow on front print only. The second one is one I bought in 1981, "Assassination" T'shirt with Plymouth Arrow on this one too. I don't remember if they were famous team but I remember I bought this T'shirt because it has nice colors.

In the old days, race cars' paint were nice and colorful but nowadays with advanced technology of stickers race cars have different looks. No air brushing any more.
The "AA FC" on print means Top Fuel Funny Car and in old days Nitro class was called "AA" double A, Alcohol class was "BB" double B. "FC" is as you know stands for Funny Cars.

Last one is one I bought in 1980, Tom"The Mongoose" McEwen Corvette Funny Car. Coors Beer Sponsored Corvette printed on front side and on the back are each major sponsor Logos.
They are all bought new back then and not at Thrift Shop. They are all unique and fun design but old T'shirts has many stains appearing and can't ware them. I will have one more issue on Old T'shirts next week.
