ちょっと古いDrag Race T'shirts Part2
| 先週に続き、古いDrag Race Tシャツです。今回はハワイ関連でお送りします。 |

| Hawaiian Punchというソフトドリンク メーカーがメインスポンサーのHawaiian Punch Racing Team。車はDodge Charger、DriverはJim Dunnの長男のMike Dunn。"Go Hawaiian"がカッコいいですね。バックはVANS Shoesのロゴが大きく入っています。 |

USAのスーパーでも良く売られているKing's Hawaiian Bread、ちょっと甘めの美味しいハワイアン ブレッドです。King'sはSouth BayにHawaiian Foodを提供するKing's Restaurantがあり、併設しているベーカリーでは焼きたてのパンやケーキも販売しています。そのKing'sがスポンサーのKing's Hawaiian Bread Racing Teamです。Hawaiian Punch RacingもKing's Hawaiian Bread Racingも、どちらもHawaii出身のRoland LeongがTeam Ownerでした。 |

彼は60年代、Dragmasterシャシー(MOONEYES Dragsterと同じフレーム)で"Hawaiian"というDragsterを走らせていました。それからずーっとスポンサーはハワイ関係、「Hawaiian Tropic」もありました、彼はDrag RaceのLegendです。昔からJim Dunnと彼のガレージは隣同士です。 Tシャツのバックには美味しい"King's Hawaiian Bread"がプリントされてます。この2枚は多分1980年と81年ではないかと思いますが、確かではありません。 |
| 最後は1977年当時、オアフ島でハイパーフォマンス部品を売っていたRon's Peformance CenterのFunny Car "Banana Gold VII" Chevy Monza Funny Carです。ビーチ、そしてハワイの山並みをバックにパームツリー、ハワイ諸島等が描かれたこのTシャツは、1977年オアフ島に行った時にこのShopまで行き、購入しました。今も当時もどこの国へ行っても観光は車屋巡りだけ、このShopを見つけた時は感動しました。Banana Goldって名前が何ともですね。ハワイでは伝説のFunny Carです。 |  |
| 昔Kenji OkazakiがMOONEYES/Jim Dunn Funny Carで走っている時、多くの日系ハワイアンから応援を受けました。当時MOONEYESもKenjiもハワイのHot Rod好き、特に日系ハワイアンから絶大な支持を受けていたのもハワイならではでしょうか。 最近ではメインランドの大手通販会社の活躍で通販が便利になり、地元ハワイではこの手のショップは少なくなってしまいました。ハワイでMOON？！いいですね。 |

| "Old Drag Race T'shirts 2nd Edition" Following from last week, subject is an Old Drag Race T'Shirts. This issue is on Hawaiian Related. "Hawaiian Punch Racing Team" with "Hawaiian Punch" soft drink maker as major sponsor, Race Car is Dodge Charger and Driver is Jim Dunns' son Mike Dunn. "Go Hawaiian" sign looks great. On the back is large VANS Shoes' logo. King's Hawaiian Bread, sold in General Super Market in USA and is tasty Hawaiian bread with little sweet taste. King's has King's Restaurant in South Bay and bakery next door has fresh baked bread and cakes. That King's sponsors "King's Hawaiian Bread Racing Team". Hawaiian Punch Racing Team and King's Hawaiian Bread Racing Team were both owned by Roland Leong from Hawaii. He had Dragster called "Hawaiian" with same Dragmaster chassis as MOONEYES Dragster and raced in 60s'. He has sponsored Hawaiian related Team and had sponsored "Hawaiian Tropic" too. He is legend of Drag Race scene and his garage was always next door to Jim Dunns'. Tasty "KING'S Hawaiian Bread" is printed on the back of T'Shirts. I think these two T'Shirts are from 1980 and 1981 but I am not sure. Last one is from 1977, "Banana Gold VII" Chevy Monza Funny Car by "Ron's Performance Center" who sold high performance parts in Oahu island back then. I went to that shop when I visited Hawaii in 1977 and bought this T'shirt with Beach, Hawaiian Mountains on back, palm tree and Hawaiian Islands printed on. Back then and still now, in any country I go, my sight seeing is going to car shops and I was really pleased when I found this shop. The name is so original "Banana Gold". Its legendary Funny Car in Hawaii. Back then when Kenji Okazaki was driving for MOONEYES/Jim Dunn Funny Car, many Japanese Hawaiian supported us. Hawaiian Hot Rodder and specially the Japanese Hawaiian gave MOONEYES and Kenji support it must be the Hawaiian thing. Nowadays there are less of these shops in Hawaii as big mainland mail order company is trying hard and mail order became really an easy thing. MOON in Hawaii?! That sounds good. >.>.>. My Freedamn!
