Motorcycle "Show & Swap Meet"は雨でした

6月11日(日）東京・お台場で開催されたMotorcycle "Show & Swap Meet"は雨でした。次は晴れるでしょう。
当日、朝方雨はほとんど降っていなかったのでCB750と2台で横浜を出発しました。実はこのCB750は今、北海道・札幌でSCAMPというHot Rod＆Street Clothingを扱うShopのオーナーが乗っているのです。彼は金曜日に札幌を出発し、苫小牧から大洗までフェリーで来て、そこから横浜まで走ってきたのです。札幌－苫小牧は大雨で大変だったようです。写真のリアタイヤの汚れが凄さを物語っています。
さてCBの横に見えるオレンジのボトルは通称「命の1リッター」と呼ばれる予備ガソリンボトルです。このCBには小さいCL450のタンクを装着しているのでガソリン容量が少なく、不測の事態の際にこのボトルが役に立つそうです。実際途中、高速道でガス切れとなりこのボトルが無ければ5ｋｍはCBを押すことになったかもしれないそうです。重いバイクを押すのは苦痛以外なにもありませんからね。
ショー当日、会場へ向かう高速を2台で走り、自分の作ったCBの走る姿を初めて見ることができました。前からのショットでも分かるくらい車高が低く、フロントフフォークが寝ています。真横のショットはどの位低いか分かりますね。ノーマルのCB750はバイクが大きいのでライダーがバイクの上に乗っている感じですが、この写真はCB750がCB400位の大きさにしか見えません。70年代Californiaに居た頃、大きなUSA人がCB750に乗っている姿はノーマルの車高であっても この写真位の大きさにしか見えませんでした。リアステップに足を載せフリーウェイを走るその姿がカッコ良く、今でも脳裏に残っている位です。
人が乗った時に小さく見えるCBを作りたかったので、今回自分の作ったCBがまさにその通り出来ていたことを製作後10年近く経って初めて確認する事が出来ました。斜め後ろからがカッコいいのです。この足の曲がり方、低さが分かりますね。
今回のショーにも沢山の国産バイクベースのChopperが参加していました。日本車のCustomもそうですが、国産ベースのChopperはこれと言う決め事も前例もないので夢があって楽しいですが、Customセンスが問われる難しいジャンルですね。

次回はショー会場で気になったChopperをピックアップしたいと思います。また、MOONEYES WEBサイトでもショーの模様を完全Upしますのでご期待下さい。

Motorcycle "Show & Swap Meet" was rained.
On Sunday 11th June, Motorcycle "Show & Swap Meet" was held at Odaiba Tokyo in rain.
Next one will be on sunny day. On the day in morning while still rain was light, we left Yokohama on 2 motorcycle with CB750. This CB750 is now in hand of Shop owner of "SCAMP" Hot Rod & Street Clothing store in Sapporo, Hokkaido far north of Japan. He left Sapporo on Friday to ride on CB to Tomakomai for 65 miles, then took ferry ship to Ooarai and ride on CB again to Yokohama for 125 miles. It was pouring rain in Sapporo to Tomakomai. As seen rear tire was in mess on picture.

The orange bottle seen on the side is so called "the one litter life saver" an extra gas tank. This CB has small CL450 tank and spare gas tank helps in emergency. CB had run out of gas on freeway and he had to push heavy CB for 3 miles if he had no spare gas. There is nothing good about pushing heavy bike on freeway.

On the freeway to the show, I was able to see CB that I made cruise on the freeway for first time after I built it. You can tell from the front shot that its low, the neck and front folk is laid. The shot from side shows how low it is.　The original CB750 is large bike that rider looks like sitting on top of bike But in this shot CB750 seems in size of CB400. In 70s in California, when I saw big American guy riding original CB750, CB looked small like in this picture. I still remember well that how they ride with foot on rear steps on freeway.

I wanted to make the CB look small when some one is riding, so I had chance to see and check after 10 years from time I completed this CB. Looks good from rear corner. How legs are folded shows how low the bike is.

There were many domestic Japanese motorcycle chopper at the show. The Japanese Car custom are same but the domestic model based chopper has no particular sample to follow and More fun and like dream but very difficult category as good Custom sense is required.
