| Jack'sはもともとは横浜中華街にあり、とっても昭和な雰囲気のレストランでした。 父に連れられてJack'sに行ったのはもう何十年も前の事、「テキを食べにいくぞ」と言う父の合言葉は子供にとっては「今日はビフテキが食べられる」って大きな喜びでした。当時ステーキは特別な食べ物でご馳走でした。そしてJack'sが凄いのは当時から醤油でステーキを提供していたのです。 |

MOONEYESの創業当時のX'mas会は必ずJack's、元町Shopからも歩いて行けたし、2Fを貸切にして頂きステーキでX'mas Dinnerを楽しんだものです。Jack'sのステーキは今でもMOONEYES スタッフ、そして僕にとっては特別なステーキなのです。 |
| オーナーはその昔、横浜の米軍キャンプの食堂で働き、料理を覚えたそうです。Jackと言う名前はその当時のオーナーのニックネームだったそうで、約50年前に横浜中華街にJack'sをオープンしたそうです。1990年、中華街の整備に伴い立ち退きを余儀なくされ、今は横浜本牧、MOONEYES Area-1のちょっと先、チー坊さんのBoogie Cafe(今度紹介しますね)をパスしてちょっと走ると左側にJack'sの小さな看板が見えてきます。 | ![]() |

僕のお薦めはジャックス特製 サーロインステーキ ベイクド スタッフド ポテト、これ英語で書くと"Sizzling Sirloin Steak, Baked Stuffed Potato"です。僕は通ぶって「シジリングね」って言うとこのステーキが出てきます。勿論オーナーが厳選した和牛ですが、やたら霜降りのお腹が痛そうになる今風のステーキではありません。しっかり赤みもあり脂もある、昔ながらのステーキです。僕は霜降り肉は苦手なのでどっちかと言うとUSAビーフみたいのが好きですね。だからJack'sのステーキは大好物なのです。 |
| しかも炭火焼きですよ、炭火で焼いた分厚い肉は美味しいですよね。MOON Cafeも炭火にしたかったので当時ご主人に相談させて頂き、色々アドバイスを頂いた結果、炭火は火を安定させるのが大変なので炭火は諦めガスにしました。 | ![]() |
| さて、メニューの付け合せはオリジナル ドレッシングのサラダ、このドレッシングがまた旨い!ソテー オニオンとベイクド ポテト、このポテトは皮ごと食べてくださいね。それに230gのステーキ、鉄板が熱いうちに醤油を掛けて頂くともう最高です。ライスかガーリック ブレッドを選べますが、迷わずガーリックブレッドを貰って下さい。それに食後にコーヒーが付いてきます。 |

この日、食いしん坊のGin君はデザートにイタリア風アイスクリームを頂きました。これも懐かしい、昔良く見たアイスクリーム、昭和の味を大切に守るJack's Restaurant、本牧にはまだまだ昭和が生き続けています。勿論、昭和ハイカラ レストランの絶対メニュー「エビのカクテル」もあります。そしてワインはキャンティ!昭和です。 |

| "Jack's Restaurant" Jack's is the name recall for Steaks, Gin from Scamp, Sapporo came to visit, I have asked what he wants to eat and "Jack's" he says, so I went to Jack's. Jack's is originally from China Town in Yokohama with very Old tested of Japan style atmosphere. It was some decades ago when my father took me to the Jack's, "will go and eat Teki", "Teki" means "Beef Steak" in Japanese back then, but I don't hear it now. It's old school word for aged people. His words was great joy to kids that I can have Beef Steak today. Beef Steak was very special dinner for back then, even Beef itself was very special meat for Japanese back in 50s and 60s in Japan. The great part of Jack's is that Beef Steak was served with Sho-yu(Soy Source) from back then. When MOONEYES begun, our Xmas Party was at Jack's, we could walked from old Motomachi shop and rented all second floor for party. Beef Steaks at Jack’s is still special steak for MOONEYES Staff and ME. Owner of Jack's has learned cocking while he was working in US base in Yokohama after WW II. Name of Jack's came from his nick name while he was working at restaurant in US Base and he has opened Jack's in Chinatown in Yokohama 50 years ago. 1990 Jack's had to be moved because of reconstruction in Chinatown, to Honmoku(MOON town) a little a head from Boogie Cafe a little sign is visible at left side. My recommendation is "Jack's Special Sizzling Sirloin Steak, Baked Stuffed Potato". I try to act like regulars and order "Sizzling please!" and this Steak comes to table. It's 4,500YEN which is about $40 for dinner. Owner choose Wagyu Beef(Japannese Beef) since it opened but not with Shimofuri fat that gets your stomachache like nowadays steak. Simofuri Beef is getting popular in US now. It's total different way to glow cow than US and other countries. They served beers to cow to make it fat. You can imagine too much beer make you fat, right. It's very tender and juicy, meat and fat are like sandwich style in one piece. It's like TORO at Sushi bar. You'd better taste it in New York, LA or in Japan. It's pretty expensive too! But I like plenty of red meat and fat like from Old School Steaks. I am not up for Marble fat meat and prefer US Beef! That's why I like the Jack's Steak., I recall that Jack's is using Japanese Beef, though. And its Charcoal, Steaks nice specially when thick beef steak is cooked on charcoal. I wanted to make charcoal kitchen on MOON Cafe and I was asking owner for consulting which we had decision of making it gas as it was difficult to maintain even fire strength. Side on this menu is original dressing salad and this dressing is very good. Saute onion and baked potato, this potato is better with the skin. Then 230g steak, it taste real good with soy sauce on while steel plate is hot. There is choice of Rice or Garlic bread but please choose garlic bread. Coffee will come after the dinner. That day Gin with big appetite had Italian Ice cream. This one too is classic, the one used to see in old days, Jack's Restaurant keeping Old School taste, Honmoku has still pretty much Old School living. Of course Old School restaurant must have, Shrimp cocktail is still there. I guess, shrimp wasn't popular back then like Beef for us. And wine has to be Chianti from Italy, this wine was the wine at restaurant beck then. That's Old School style restaurant. I like it very much! Lastly Jack's hidden trick is an Open kitchen with stainless steel . Polished shiny stainless steel is super clean. MOON Cafe must learn from them.
