Southern California 出張
3週間ぶりに、Southern Californiaへ出張です。成田空港に向う高速湾岸線、ベイブリッジ付近で先の方に見えるのはもしかして･･･
昨日、ウチのカマロを千葉方面へ運んでくれて一度、神奈川に戻り車を積んで、盛岡へ行くと言っていた、Blue Panicの積載車は三浦君ではありませんか？！
「確か昨日のうちに盛岡に行っているはず？」「なぜこんな時間に盛岡を目指しているの？」とか考えながら追いつくと、やはり三浦君でした。
あいにく横に並んでも、運転中の携帯電話でこちらに気が付かなかったので、
そのまま前に入ってガー！とブレーキを踏んだら気が付いてくれました。
そのまま何となく、一緒に走っていたのですが、バックミラーから見ると、
この積車、車高が低くなかなかカッコいいですね。
US仕様にもなっていますし、ベットの板はUSAのアルミ板が貼ってあるこだわり、また三浦君は車を綺麗にしているから何時もピカピカ。
そんなこんなで木場辺りで
東北道を目指す三浦君 「じゃー失礼します!」って横に並んでニッコリでした。
素晴らしい！働く車が綺麗だど、素敵ですね。
そのBlue Panic、5月25日(日）相模湖ピクニックランドで、「Sakura Car Show」なんて、なんとも占領米軍厚木基地みたいな響きの旧車のイベントをやるって言う。
5月で桜ならもっと北、それも北方でやればいいのに。
これってオールオッズナショナルと同じようなイベント？
絶対やる気でやってる、金子社長やるね！
ブログでは突然なんて言っているけど、イベントは絶対、突然には出来ないからね。
さてUSの会社に着くと、何と昔、MOONEYES Area-1で働いいたルイ君が、奥さんとお遊びに寄ってくれました。
そもそもルイがウチのトライアンフでタクシーに追突しなければ、
あのBobberは誕生しませんでした。
と、今度はイギリスのMOONEYES Dealer VW Bay Windowが得意な、
Road HouseのTimがやってきました。
そしてMachine Shopには手作りHeaderも付き、
着々と進行する 27 Modified Tがありました。
El Mirageまで残り1ヶ月を切りました。ラストスパートですが、まだ配線もあれば、ブレーキの配管、Blower及びその廻りのセットアップ等、沢山ありますし、会社も問題山積みです。
どうなるT ?!
その晩は、MOONEYES Area-1で3月までバイトをしていた林君が留学を始めたので、どんな調子か尋ね、一緒にDinnerしました。林君が持っているのは食べ切れなかったDinnerです。
これが明日の一食になるのですね、ボクも経験あります。がんばってください！
It's been three weeks since, but I'm on another business trip to Southern California. On the way to Narita Airport, near the Bay Bridge, I thought I saw Mr. Miura's Blue Panic loader truck up ahead in the distance. Just yesterday he hauled our Camaro to the Chiba area and said of plans to return the truck back in Kanagawa and then head to Morioka (Northern Japan).
If I'm not mistaken why is the Blue Panic truck on the road at this time? Shouldn't Mr. Miura be on his way to Morioka? As I thought this, I caught up to the truck and sure enough, it was Mr. Miura of Blue Panic I pulled along side to get his attention but he was busy driving-while-on-the-phone so he didn't notice. Just as I passed I pulled in front of him and stepped on my brakes. He noticed me!
We were driving together for a short time. I went on ahead and noticed when I was looking in my rear view mirror, how his truck rides low to the road and looked real cool. Most of the parts on his truck have been swapped to US export parts and the loading bed is covered with Aluminum plate from USA.
Mr.Miura always keeps his truck clean too. It's wonderful to see working vehicles well polished. Anyway, he left towards the North side of Japan at Kiba Junction and waved good-bye.
The Blue Panic will host “Sakura Car Show” at Sagami Lake Picnic Land on Sunday May 25th. It will be a car show for Old Domestic Japanese Cars and the name “Sakura” sounds like an event held in Yokota Air Base (USAF).
Sakura (Cherry) in May means you need to go up to the colder north of Japan to see the Cherry Blossom. Well then make a show up north then! This show will be much like our show for Old Domestics called “All Odds Nationals”.
Mr.Kaneko president of Blue Panic cars knows what he is doing and he is going for it. In his blog He says he has suddenly decided to do so, but there is no such a thing as an event held suddenly. It always needs some preparation for hosting an event. Go Mr. Kaneko!
When I arrived at MOONEYES USA, a former employee of MOONEYES Area-1 store in Japan, Louie and his wife, was there. Actually, the Triumph Bobber wouldn't have been made if Louie didn't smash the Triumph into a Taxi.
Then, next visitor was Tim from MOONEYES Dealer in England called "Road House" who is famous for interest in VW Bay Window.
Inside the Machine shop, the modified '27 T Roadster had some progress with hand made headers on. Less than one month left to El Mirage. Its time to put on a Last Spurt but still lots to do, wiring, brake lines, blower and setting while running the business at same time.Let's see how T will turn out!
On the same night I had dinner with Mr. Hayashi, who was working as part time employee at MOONEYES Area-1 until the end of March, and saw how he was doing after he moved to study in California. Mr. Hayashi has his left overs from his dinner which will be one of his meals tomorrow,
I had done the same.
