Nostalgia Funny Cars

先週末 California Bakersfield で開催された NHRA 18th Annual California Hot Rod Reunion では Elimination （レース） に残れるのがたった 8台のところ、何と 32台の Nostalgia Funny Cars のエントリーがあったそうです。
Last weekend at the NHRA 18th Annual California Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield, California there were only 8 cars remaining after Elimination (Races) but it began with 32 Nostalgia Funny Cars entrants.

詳しいルールは知りませんが見た感じでは今のフレームを使うのが予算的にも構造的にも良さそうです が、なぜかフロントタイヤから前が長いのです。この件は 2007年のブログでも触れていますが、やっと何故前が長くなるか分かりました！！消火器です。 最近のフレームは消火器がフロントタイヤの前に装着されているケースが多いので、どうしても前が長くなってしまい。
I don't know the details to the rules but just looking at the cars, the first thing I noticed was most of the chassis seem like budget-based but high quality construction. I noticed on most of them, the nose portion from the front tires seems long. I posted briefly about this in a blog entry from 2007 but now I think I know why the front is longer!! It's the fire extinguisher. Many of the newer chassis being built have fire extinguishers mounted in front of the front tires. Back in the days, it wasn't like that so that must be the reason why the front looks longer.



Body もそれに合わせ、フロントが延びている Funny Car が多くありました。
There were many Funny Cars with the Body realigned with the longer front.


個人的には昔のようにストン切れているのが好きなのでこの様に消火器の装着場所を変更し Body は変更しない方がより昔ぽくて良いと思いました。
Personally speaking, I like the the old days with the blunt shorter nose, the fire extinguisher located somewhere else and the Body not modified. The way it was done back then, the old style looks cool.


この Cuda は昔のままの姿でこの様にフロントが短いです。年式により必ずしもそうは言えませんが少なくてもMid 70s 以前の Funny Car はそうあってほしいです。
The shape of this Cuda looks like the old style with the short front. I guess it depends on the model year so not all are like this but as for early to mid 70s Funny Cars, I wish they were all like that. I mean, keep the body as original specs from the old days. In my opinion, if you modify the Funny Car body, it's no longer nostalgic. It's just an old looking body.


Dodge Arrow 位の年式になると微妙な感じです。 このPisano Arrowは少し長い気がします。
It gets difficult to see around the time of the Dodge Arrow. Like this Pisano Arrow, it looks a little bit longer in front. By the late 70s, Funny Car bodies changed shape completely.


でも　Budweiser King は昔と変わらない感じです。
Like this Budweiser King Funny Car. It doesn't look much different than the late 70s body.
