On a rainy Sunday, as I was on my way to the shop, at an intersection, when I was waiting for the light to turn left, all of a sudden my engine just stopped running. It was the same kind of strange engine stop that happened about 10 months ago. A long time ago, I would look under the hood and check out the engine but with today's cars, I open the hood and have no idea so instead I started to push the car out of the way, when a young man in a car stopped in traffic going the opposite direction got out in the rain and said, "Need Help?" As I heard that, another car that was stopped and a young man got out to help too. It would have been extremely difficult to push this heavy car by myself but with the three of us, we managed to get it over out of the way of traffic so I could call and wait for AAA (Japan's version of JAF).
I had just read yesterday in the LA Times about in China where a child was hit by a car and the people around the scene just took pictures and watched or simply ignored the situation and the injured child died. I remembered the article because it had statistics about situations like what happened in China and listed countries where people are most likely to offer help in these kinds of situations. USA and Ireland where the highest ranked. I thought about Japan and doubt anyone would stop and help. When someone is in a situation like this, it's very common in America for someone to offer help.
When I said, "Thank you!" The reply was, "No problem, God bless you." and they ran back to their cars. It made me think about how generous people in America really are. When the AAA tow truck arrived, I said, "Take me to Santa Fe Springs!" and hitched a ride to the shop. The car broke down and it was raining but it turned out to be a great morning.

In the rain, you can see the intersection and one of the cars of the two young men that stopped and got out to help move my car out of the way. We moved the car to the side safely. I was grateful for their help.

Setup for towing. I was expecting to see a flatbed but instead it was a classic Tow Truck (wrecker).
It's been a while since I've used the services of AAA.

Before I knew it, we were ready to go. I jumped in the passenger seat of the two truck and we were off to the shop. GO!

Made it to the shop safely. In the background you can see the rear end of the HHR on the right. I thought I'd use it but the inside was so dirty, it had to be cleaned which took an hour to do.
I wonder who used the HHR last, Goshu and Pan...?
