こちらは 1月 20日のエントリーです。
Here is the post that was supposed to be on Wednesday.

今年で Street Car Nationals （SCN) は 24回目、来年は MOONEYES も 25周年、SCN も 25回目、そして Hot Rod Custom Show は 20回目、MOONEYES USA も 20周年と色々区切りがいいです。
とは言ってもまだ 2010年が始まったばかりで 2011年の話は早すぎますね。
This year, Street Car Nationals (SCN) will be the 24th time, which means next year MOONEYES will have its 25th anniversary and SCN will also be in its 25th year. It will be the 20th time for the Hot Rod Custom Show and MOONEYES USA will be celebrating 20 years of various things.
That said, 2010 has just started and it's probably a little too soon to start talking about 2011.

4月25日（日） 東京お台場で開催予定の 24回目の ＳＣＮ では Burnout の Demo を行います。　
そうです前回のブログは会場側の承認を得るためにデモをやった時の物です。
会場側の好意的な判断により Burnout Demo が可能となりました。しかも 11時と 13時の 2回も！
参加は MOONEYES からの Invitation Only (MOONEYES が選らんだ方のみ）、一般でのエントリーはありません。今年はちょっと動きのある SCN です。お楽しみに！！
On April 25 (Sunday) the scheduled 24th SCN will be held in Odaiba, Tokyo and will feature a Burnout Demo. Yes, as posted last week, that picture was taken while demonstrating a burnout to get approval for the demo. With favorable results, we got permission to have a Burnout Demo.
However, we'll have it at 11AM and 1PM, not once but twice! Participation will be Invitation Only from MOONEYES, so there won't be that many taking part. So this year, SCN will have some additional movement. Hope you all can make it!!

知り合いの方から 2冊の本が届きました。
2冊とも Blue Max の Daigo が所有していた物で MOON Book は僕が彼に進呈した物でした。
もう 1冊は Drag Race 関係の本ですが 昔 (70年代) Daigo と一緒に見た覚えがある懐かしい、しかも島田洋書店で購入した物でした。
ページをパラパラめくっていくと MOONEYES Dragster が堂々見開きに出ているではありませんか、当時はまったく気が付きませんでした。
Daigo が他界し、ちょうど 1年 縁あって戻って来たようです。

ショー終了！

Show Finished!

ショーは無事終了、土曜日に開催したPartyも多いに盛り上がったけど前売り券をコピーしてきた奴がいたって！
表彰されたプラークを盗まれた人がいたりで、こう言う事があるとやる気無くなりますね～。

The show came to a close without any major incidents and the Party we had on Saturday before the show was very exciting, however I couldn't believe there was at least one attempt to get in with a photo-copied prepaid ticket!
There was also someone that stole an award plaque, it's these little things that really make me lose interest in holding events at all...

でも彼女が Mr. Blue の特設会場をこの様に綺麗にしてくれました。 ありがとう！
However, it was her (pictured) that made Mr. Blue's special table look so great. Thank you!

I first thought this was a doll, but it's actually a real person.

American Graffiti ブース ライトアップされた背景が良かったです。
The American Graffiti booth was last to be setup and the background really came out great.

1974年に製作された Honda Step Van を展示します。
Be sure to check out this Honda Step Van on display, originally customized in 1974.

昨日、成田空港 （NRT) に迎えに行こうと思ったら LAからの便が5時間遅れると連絡が入りました。
5時間！！　って言うとNRTへの到着は22時位、横浜に着くのは24時位になってしまう。
しかも20名も、大変だ！
When we were about to head for Narita Airport (NRT) to pick up guests from abroad, I got a call from LA informing me that the flight was delayed 5 hours.
5 HOURS!! That means they will arrive at NRT around 22:00 (10PM), which means we'll get back to Yokohama around 24:00 (12AM).
Not only that, there are 20 people!

サンフランシスコからの10名は予定通り到着なので一度NRTに行き ホテルに送り（横浜）、
NRTへとんぼ返りし遅れて到着20名をPick Upすると言う事になりました。
The flight from San Francisco with 10 people is on time. So we'll go to NRT, pick them up, go to the hotel (Yokohama), turn right around and go back to NRT and pick up the 20 people from the delayed flight.

実は昨年も大幅な遅れがあったのです。
As a matter of fact, there was a huge delay last year as well.
　
昨年は順調にNRTまで飛んで来たのにNRT周辺の天候が悪く着陸できず
燃料切れになるので一度名古屋に着陸し燃料を補給しNRTに戻ったので
到着が4時間も遅れたのでした。
Last year, the flight to NRT was going well until just before preparation for landing, the weather got really bad so the plane couldn't land. The airplane circled above until it was forced to land in Nagoya so it could refuel. After getting fuel in Nagoya, it finally landed in NRT 4 hours late.

昨年は天候不順が理由ですが　今回は整備不良が原因らしい。
今　何かと話題の航空会社です。
The flight last year was delayed by weather but this time it was because of maintenance.
I just realized almost my entire post is about the airline company.

It's "Freakin' Four" freak out なっちゃいますよね！
こんな CB 見たことある？？
Installed a Tank and Side Covers on the CB500.
It's "FREAKIN' FOUR" with freak out paint!

今回はこの CB500 と 1970年代に作られた Honda Step Van を展示する予定です。
This CB500 build will be on display together with a Honda Step Van built in the 1970s.

20回目の Crown Picnic

20th Annual Crown Picnic

Crown が好きだからと言うだけの理由で 1990年に始まった Crown Picnic も今回で20回目を迎える事になりました。
It was the 20th anniversary for the CROWN Picnic this year which started in 1990, simply because I like Toyota CROWN.

こんな素敵なケーキを頂戴したりで感謝です。下はエントリーに配った、記念ポスターです。
Thank you very much for this special anniversary cake!! Its great to receive such a present. The cake is on a commemorative poster we handed out to entrants.

この所、問題があり過ぎ姿を見せなかった Mr. Blue も来てくれました。Mr. Blue は １９７０年の Crown Pick Up を所有しているはずでが乗って来たのは？？？とても言えません。もしかしたら色々な事情からもう手元にないのでしょうか？引き続き彼のピックアップの情報は募集中です。
Mr. Blue owns a nice 1970 Toyota CROWN pick up but he showed up with??? another car that I just can't mention here. Mr. Blue has been away recently with many problems he makes. Maybe it is already gone with many reasons. If you have any info regarding his pick up we appreciate it.

何とMr. Blueは　ブルーのジャンパー（ジャケット）、色が落ちた ５０１ ジーパン （ジーンズ） そして白のナイキの運動靴 （スニーカー） ８０ｓ を意識してかそれともこれしかないのかいずれにしても最近あまりお目に掛からないでたちです。
Mr. Blue appeared in rare style, jeans jacket, 501 blue jeans with faded color and white Nike sneakers that looks like he came out from 80s, not sure if he planned or only had these outfit.

All the young people gathered and enjoying the event.

５０歳を越したオッサン達は手のやり場に困るのです。
3人とも腕を組んでいますが別に偉ぶっているのでは無く手のやり場が無いのです。手のやりば困る最近です。
I noticed that while everyone was enjoying the show, three of the elders including myself over the age of 50 had their arms folded in front. It's not that we want to make a pose like that but we don’t know where to put our hands.

Isky Camshaft の Mr. Isky に会えました。今までは会う機会があれば必ず 「誰が今のMOONをやっているんだ？」 と毎回同じ質問をされそのたびに 「僕です」 答えていましたが、今回は 「Shige」と ちゃんと名前を覚えていてくれました。嬉しいです！あの Cam Fathers "Isky" です。Dean MOON, Ed Big Daddy Roth, Jim Diest等沢山の Hot Rod のパイオニアが神に導かれる中彼には何時までも元気でいてほしいです。この後 Hot Rod は誰に導かれどこに向かうのでしょうか？

I met Mr. Isky of Isky Camshaft. This time I was so happy to hear that he remembered my name when he said, "Shige!"
Every other time he would ask, "Who runs MOON now?" and I would always answer with, "I do."
It's great honor for Isky Cam’s legendry Mr. Isky to know my name.

日本平へGO!

Let's Go to Nihondaira!

11年振りになるのかな～、静岡県日本平で開催さる Coast to Coast Natls に参加してきました。
I think it's been about 11 years or so since I last went to Hondaira, Shizuoka prefecture (central Japan) the Coast to Coast Natls event held there.

イベント前日の土曜日清水に移転した Vannuys さんに立ち寄るといきなり空気が変わり 「ゆっくり行こうぜ」って感じでオーナーの時田さんがダラーとしていました。
The day before the event, on Saturday, I stopped by Vannuys in the city of Shimizu for a visit. All of a sudden the mood just changed, it was like, "Let's take is easy." The shop owner, Mr. Tokita （a.k.a. AKIRA) was also in cruise mode.

こんな風景を見ながら夕暮れを迎えるとそんな気にもなりますね～。
With scenery like this as the evening came you can't help but be in this kind of mood.

さて日曜日はイベント、昨晩時田さんから授かったノッペリ感を切りかえイベント会場へ芝生は綺麗だし、富士山も見えるし、やはり日本平ホテルのこのロケーションは最高でした。
On Sunday at the event, the laid back mode from the night before with Mr. Tokita was changed and we headed for the lawn area in the event where it's really nice. You can see Mt. Fuji it plain view. This location at Nihondaira Hotel is superb.

あのまま清水にいたら取り返しが付かない位ダラーとなっちゃうと思えるくらいマッタリしたいいお店、Vannuys に行ってみたら？
If I were to stay in Shimizu and not change modes I think it would cause me to be permanently laid-back, but what a cool store, you should definitely visit Vannuys' store.

早めに帰って来てよかったです。
I'm lucky I was able to leave early and get home.

Billy F Gibbons' "Mexican Blackbird"

12月6日、18th Annual Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show 2009 にやって来る、
Billy F Gibbons' Mexican Blackbird、'58 Ford Thunderbird の撮影を So-Cal Speed Shopで、して来ました。
10月末発売予定の MOON Illustrated Magazine #4（MIM　#4)用の撮影でした。
I went to watch a photo session, of Billy F Gibbons and his "Mexican Blackbird" '58 Ford Thunderbird, at So-Cal Speed Shop. They will be coming to the 18th Annual Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show 2009 on December 6th.
The photos will be for MOON Illustrated Magazine #4 (MIM #4) which is scheduled to be released in October.

Billy はその日の夕方には飛行機に乗りツアーに出なくてはいけないと言う忙しい中、
時間を割いて撮影に参加してくれました。　カメラマンは ZAP！彼らしい素晴らしい仕上がりだと思います。
でも1958 T-birdカッコ良かったです。
That evening after the photos were taken, Billy had to go straight onto a plane as his ZZ Top band is currently on tour. He was kind enough to take time out of his busy schedule just for the pictures. Working the camera lens is ZAP! I think it perfectly matches his style.
The 1958 T-bird was really cool.

MOONEYESの倉庫゛にある1960 T-birdもこんなになるのでしょうか？やれば成るのでしょう。
MIM #4 にこの1960 T-birdのStoryが掲載されます。
Over at the MOONEYES warehouse in Japan is a 1960 T-bird. I wonder if it could look like this? I'm sure it's possible, just have to do it.
MIM #4 will also have an article about the 1960 T-bird.

オジさん二人走りましたが。。

The two old men went racing but...

Super American Festival走って来ましたが、　
残念ながらおじさん2人は予選落ちでした。
久しぶりの富士Speedway、しかも晴天、素晴らしいイベントでした。
Ａｃｃｉｄｅｎｔも多くＵＳＡみたいだったなー。
しかもこのCamaroで富士Speedwayを走るのは２8年ぶり、凄い昔の話です。

We went to Super American Festival and raced but,
unfortunately, I'm afraid us old men did not qualify (DNQ) for the elimination.
It's been a long time since I raced at Fuji Speedway, and with fine weather, it was a wonderful event.
There were quite a few accidents, reminded me of USA races.
Also, the Camaro last raced here in Fuji Speedway 28 years ago, now that's a long time ago.

'69 CAMARO が Fuji Speedway で走り出すVIDEO を You-Tube にアップしました。
You can see the '69 Camaro run at Fuji Speedway on You-Tube.

路面に見える白いのは数台前の車がエンジンを壊し、オイルが漏れたのでその修復作業跡です。
Along the surface of the strip, where is looks white, a few cars before this run it blew something and oil started pouring out. Well, the clean up was that white stuff.

2009年 2009	この時は26歳（1981年）富士Speedwayも変わったけど、こっちも齢取ったな～。 This photo is from 1981, I was 26 years old, Fuji Speedway has been improved since TOYOTA owned it.

7月26日(日）富士Speedway で開催される Super American Festival, '69 Camaro ＆amp; Vega、2台とも Drag Race 出場に受理して頂けました！　2人の合わせて107歳　オジサンがんばります！
It's been confirmed, JULY 26 (Sunday) Super American Festival at Fuji Speedway, both the '69 Camaro & Vega will participate in the Drag Races!

Super American Festival

7月26日（日）　富士Speedwayで開催されるSuper American FestivalのDrag Raceに
この2台で参加予定！　なぜ予定かと言うとまだエントリーが受理されてないのです。
受理されるかな～。
Drag Races at Fuji Speedway are set for July 26 (Sunday) at Super American Festival and these two are scheduled to participate! Why just scheduled you might ask and that's because we haven't received confirmation of our entries yet. Will we be accepted?

MOONEYESのEvent

多くの方からEl Camino Nationals開催のリクエストを頂戴し、遂に9月13日（日）横浜・本牧で開催予定です。

本当はBlue Panicが開催するはずでしたが、諸事情（言いかえればやる気が有る無しの話ですが）により昨年開催できず。

今年もTruck Mastersは予定されているけど、El Camino Nationalsはまだスケジュールも決まっていなかったのでMOONEYESで開催する事にしました。
エントリーの詳細等はまだ何も決まっていませんが、とりあえず「やります」と報告しておきます！

9月は13日（日）El Camino Nationals、20日（日）VW Type 2 Party、27日（日）はAll Odds Nationals。11月には20周年を迎えるCrown Picnicもあります。

おっと！忘れていました。8月2日（日）には東京お台場（昨年と同じ場所）でMotorcycle Swap Meetも開催されます。

そして12月6日（日）は、18回目のYokohama Hot Rod・Custom Showです。

A lol of requests have been coming in for holding the El Camino Nationals event, and we are pleased to inform everyone that we have scheduled a tentative date for Sept. 13 (Sunday) to be held in Honmoku, Yokohama.

It was Blue Panic that was really supposed to hold the event but under the various circumstances (in other words, I heard it was not having the energy to do it) the event wasn't held last year either.

This year, Truck Masters is scheduled with a date but El Camino Nationals was not on the schedule and no date had been set yet so MOONEYES will hold the event.

We haven't decided on entry details or anything yet but wanted to confirm and inform everyone that "It's On!"

September 13 (Sunday) El Camino Nationals
September 20 (Sunday) VW Type 2 Party
September 27 (Sunday) All Odds nationals
November will have the 20th anniversary Crown Picnic too.

Oh! Almost forgot. On August 2 (Sunday) in Odaiba, Tokyo (same place as last year) is the Motorcycle Swap Meet event.

Then, on December 6 (Sunday) is the 18th Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show!

富士でのDrag Race

29日、Fuji Speedwayで久しぶりにDrag Raceが開催されたので行ってきました。
It's been a while since there was a Drag Race event held at Fuji Speedway so I went to watch on April 29 (Wednesday).

天気も良く富士山を見ながらSpeedwayへ行くと

なんと久しぶり！Teppey君が歯を磨いているではありませんか。
It was great weather and seeing Mt. Fuji on the way to the Speedway really brought back memories! Looks like Teppey even brushed his teeth.

その近くには今回エンジンをかなりいじったNishi NishiのMaverickが停まっていました。
Close by, Nishi Nishi's Maverick was stopped and the engine was being modified.

Pit CrewはVannuysのTokitaさんです。
Pit Crew was Mr. Tokita from Vannuys.

Pitには沢山のUSA車がエントリーしていていい感じになっていました。
PadockにはFunny Car やTop Fuelが沢山、Piｔも自由に入れるので一般の方も
Race Carが間近に見れて楽しそうでした。やはりFuji Speedwayで開催と言うと盛り上がりますね！
It was a good feeling to see so many USA cars in the Pit area.
There were many Top Fuel and Funny Cars in the paddock. You could freely enter the pits and see race cars in close proximity which made it really fun.
As one might think, just by holding an event at Fuji Speedway really makes it exciting!

Drag RaceもありますのでこれまでにはCamaroを直して出場したいと思っています。
Next event at Fuji Speedway is the Super American Festival on July 27 (Sunday).
There will be Drag Races held so I hope to repair the Camaro so it can race then.

Show 無事終了　MOONEYES Street Car Nationals

前日までの悪天候が嘘のように晴れ上がった26日（日）、23回目になるストリートカーナショナルズ無事開催されました。
The weather, which had been really bad until the day before, cleared up with sunny skies on the 26th (Sunday) for the 23rd Annual Street Car Nationals which successfully completed without any incidents.

晴れたのは良かったのですが風が強くてテントが飛んだり商品が飛んだりで販売の方々は大変だったと思います。今回1回限りの会場ですがこれがまた広すぎてAward選考に歩き廻ったので本当に疲れました。
It was great that the skies cleared up with the only issue being the very strong winds that easily blew tents (canopies) away and even some products so it probably made it difficult for many swap meet shops. This year was the first time the event was held in such a large area and having to walk the entire area for Award selection was literally an exhausting experience.

スタッフも体力勝負、MOONEYES Fun君はNITROでエナジー補給です。
It was also a test of one's own strength for many of the staff, including Mooneyes Fan who had a bottle of NOS energy drink.

SCNでは普段なかなか会えない方に会えReunion（同窓会）のような感じです。23年と言う長い間に顔見知りになりこのSCNで会えるのを楽しみしている自分もいます。夕方ゲートで搬出の交通整理をしていると目の前の道が何時もの日本の道とは思えない光景でした。これは車だけでなく、それを取り巻く光、緑、そして空気の関係でしょうか。目の前が突然「なんかオーストラリア、ゴールドコーストかな」って感じに見えてきたのです。
In the blazing sun, the strong winds, and in such a large space this year's event was a full workout. It feels a lot like a Reunion (of alumni) each year because there are so many people at SCN that I don't see any other time. For 23 years, being able to meet with acquaintances at SCN is a big part of the enjoyment. In the afternoon out by the gate watching traffic control of the outgoing vehicles, the scene on the street right in front was not the usual Japanese street. It wasn't just the cars, but the lighting, the greenery, and even the air, the feeling was something like Australia's Gold Coast perhaps.

なぜオーストラリアかと言うと、
Why Australia, you might think? Well, some factors like

1、左側通行
Cars drive on the left,

2、日本車が多い
There are many old Japanese cars there,

(窓がガーンとあいたコロナのハードトップ、強い日差し中、気持良さそうです。好きな1台です。:The 1967 Toyota Corona with the large picture windows, in the bright sun it must have been real nice. I like this one.)

3、Hot Rod やCustomが走っている
They have a lot of Hot Rods and Customs too,

(この写真なんか光とか車とかまったく日本には見えません！でもタオル頭に巻く人はHot Rod圏では見た事ありませんかやはり日本ですね。:This photo for some reason, maybe the lighting or the cars, does not look like Japan! But on the other hand, I've only seen towels wrapped around someone's head like that in Japan.)

4、そして決めては天候、それも日差しですね。ゲートに居て良かったです。
Lastly, the weather was the deciding factor. The way the sun was shining. I'm glad I was at the gate to see it.

23回目になるStreet Car Nationals

26日 Sunday、東京お台場で23回目のストリートカーナショナルズ（SCN)を開催します。800台のカスタムカー、100件を超えるベンダーブースや沢山のケータリング等、楽しい一日になること間違いなし。ゲートオープンは9時!
会場でお会いしましょう。

On Sunday, the 26th of April, in Odaiba, Tokyo will be the 23rd annual Street Car Nationals (SCN) event. Over 800 custom cars, over 100 vendor booths and a bunch of catering and concession stands. No doubt it will be great day and fun for all. Gates open at 9AM!

Drag Race in 仙台

先週末はPRAのOpenning戦プラスIgnite Speed Trialが仙台ハイランドで開催されたので、
横浜を土曜日の4：30に出発し仙台へ向いました。
Last weekend was the PRA Opening Drags plus Ignite Magazine Speed Trial at SENDAI Hi-land, so we left Yokohama at 4:30AM on Saturday and headed for Sendai (northern Japan)

桜前線は北上し、高速代も安くなったので道路は混むだろうと予測し、早めに横浜を出ました。東北自動車道は想像通り乗用車の量が多く、大変走り辛い環境にも関わらず、仙台に9：30には到着したので悪くありません。
The Cherry Blossoms were blooming up north and the express way tolls had recently been decreased so we left Yokohama extra early assuming the roads would be crowded. Just as we thought, Touhoku Express Way was very crowded with cars. However, even with the traffic, we arrived in Sendai by 9:30AM which isn't bad timing.

土曜日はレースではなく練習走行が出来るので、調子見たりしながら3回走りました。
Saturday wasn't a race day but we made 3 practice runs to test and check the conditions.

今回の目玉はなんと言ってもVegaです。
結果はコンスタントに12秒台を出していたので、足廻りなどのセッテイングがまだの状態での走行としては上出来しょう。車が小さいから運転が大変そうでした。　
The main focus for us was the Vega. The results were constant 12 second times with no adjustments made to any settings. The car is small which made driving a challenge.

Camaroは10秒台をマークしましたが、昨年のBestには及びませんでした。
土曜日3回目の走行中1000ft辺りでハンドルの遊びが大きくなり、壁に寄って行ったため修理を試みましたが、残念ながら修理できず日曜日のレースには参加できませんでした。
The Camaro clocked in at the 10.47 mark but didn't reach last year's Best time(10.21). On Saturday during the 3rd run at about 1,000 ft the steering became loose and the car came very close to the side wall. Although we tried to work on the issue, it wasn't fixed and the car didn't run on Sunday.

次は7月、富士で開催されるSuper American Festivalに参加の予定です。
それまでに車直します。
The next event will be held in July at Fuji during the Super American Festival, which we plan to attend. The car will be fixed by then.

ドラッグレースが富士で！　Drag Race at Fuji Int'l Speedway

今年のSuper American Festival(aka SAF)/スーパーアメリカン フェステイバル 通称”アメフェス”で　久しぶりにDrag Raceが開催される事になった言う情報が入って来た！

素晴らしい！　いったい何年振り？3-4年振り？はっきりは覚えていませんがついに主催者の思いが届いたのですね。物事強く思い続ければ叶えられる事もあると言う事です。立派です。

It has been a long time, but information has been announced that this year's Super American Festival (aka "SAF") will feature Drag Races at Fuji International Speedway!

This is wonderful news! How many years has it been? At least 3-4 years? I don't remember exactly but finally the wishes of the promoters have been granted.

When you hope and wish strongly enough, things do come true. This is great.

Dｒag Raceと言えば197７年7月に米軍立川基地飛行場が閉鎖になり、日本でのDrag Raceは休息期間に入りましたが、翌1978年に富士スピードウエイで開催されたのがこのレース、参加台数が多すぎて３台で走ると言う珍レースだったらしい。と言うのはこの時代僕は居なかったので良く知りません。

Speaking of Drag Races in Japan, it was in July 1977 when Tachikawa Air Base in Tokyo had closed. Drag Race in Japan was kinda dead. The following year in 1978, drag races were held at Fuji Speedway and there were so many participants that three cars raced each time.

I wasn't in Japan during that time so I don't know the full details.

Camshafters

Seaman's ClubでCamshaftersの会食がありました。
The Camshafters had dinner together at the Seaman's Club.

上座に座るMr. Blueのこの堂々たる風格、Camshaftersの今後も　この男を見る限り安泰そうです。
この男、今年も懲りずに「サクラ」カーショーを開催予定するそうです。
The grand appearance of Mr. Blue in the seat of honor, from now on Camshafters will look at this man for stability.
Apparently, he is making plans for another "SAKURA" car show this year.

Mr. Blue、余程時間が余っているのか、最近毎日ブログを更新しているので、今回のCamshafterｓの件も先を越されてしまいました。

DinnerのAppetizerは、昭和の香りがする「海老のカクテル」。
Before dinner, a "Shrimp Cocktail" was served as an appetizer which had a nostalgic aroma of the Showa era (mid-century Japan).

気がつけばメンバーは頭にホワイトが目立つ４０代・５０代、良い感じになってきました。
That's when I realized how much the white on all the member's heads stand out, being 40s and 50s it starts to feel good.

2009年東京オートサロン/Auto Salon 2009

会場広しと言っても、僕の今年のAuto Salon1番はこのToyota 2000GTでした。
Out of everything at this year's Autosalon, my No.1 Pick would have to be this Toyota 2000GT.


歩きながらこの車を見かけた時は「2000GT」だと思ったくらいでしたが、見るとNISSAN RB26 Motorが載っているから、「へー換装したんだ」なんて程度にその時はまだ軽く考えていましたが、隣で説明を聞いている人の話を聞いているとなんとNISSAN Fairlady Z S-30がベースと言っています。
When I first saw this car while walking around I thought, "2000GT" but when I saw the engine, noticed it was equipped with a NISSAN RB26 Motor. As I silently thought about the engine swap idea I could hear a person giving the description of this car explaining things - then said the base vehicle is actually a NISSAN Fairlady Z (S-30), also known as a Datsun 240Z!

そう言われて色々、色眼鏡で見ると「なるほどレプリカだ」と思う箇所のありましたが、言われないと分からない位良く出来ていました。
From a biased point of view it is a logical replica but without someone explaining all this, it would be difficult to tell because it built so well.

その晩あった友人にこれらの写真を見せました。写真を一通り見た彼は何事もなく写真をテーブルに置きましたが「これS-30ベースだよ」って説明すると「えー」っと、もう一度よく写真を見直し「そう言われればRear QTRの当たりが　。。。。」となった程。
Later that evening I showed a friend all the photos I took of the car. He looked them over then put them on the table. I told him, "This is an 240Z base" and he had to look at the photos again. "What?" As he looked again he remarked, "Now that I looked again, the rear QTR panel..." see how the viewpoint changes only after you know.

ザーと見ただけでは「2000GT」にしか見えない仕上がりでした。いったい幾らで販売するのか楽しみです。
First impression, it's a "2000GT" - that's how nice it's built. It will be interesting to see how much this will cost.

次は太いDrag Slick Tireの入った NISSAN Fairlady Z, リアタイヤの位置がPerfectですね。
この様な太いタイヤを入れるとなると、どこにタイヤの中心が来るかで車のカッコ良し悪しが決定されてしまうのと、タイヤがBodyの内側に入りすぎないようにするのも大変です。
Next up was the NISSAN Fairlady Z with the thick Drag Slick Tires. The location of the rear tires perfect.
When you put these kind of fat tires on a car it is difficult to find the proper location. Sticking out from the sides won't work and being too far under the fender doesn't have the right look.

このZは良い位置にうまい出具合でタイヤが入っています。
This Z has the right look and its location of the tires are right on.

そしてこんな凄い？Mercedsも。
And then there were these incredible? Mercedes.

歩いていると後ろから「お！このCrownカッコ良い！」って声が聞こえたので1枚撮りましたが、ナゼカッコ良いのかわかりませんでした。
As I was walking I heard someone from behind me say, "Oh! This Toyota Crown is cool!" So I took one photo as I didn't see what was so exciting about it.

Toyota BoothではBrand NewのToyota "IQ" 1000cc 4人乗り、これに4人！凄い！！
昔Mazda Carol 360ccに4人乗った事がありますが、これもその位苦しいのでしょうか？
小さい小さい車に4人乗るのは昭和の再来ですね。
At the Toyota Booth, they had the Brand New Toyota "IQ" 1000cc, 4-person, 4-person?! That's incredible!!
A long time ago we got 4 people to get into a Mazda Carol 360cc which is about that size but I wonder if it is that cramped? To think, a 4-person small car. It's like the second coming of the Showa-era (50s 60s).

そのToyota IQにはMOON DiscみたいなHub Capが！海外のメーカーだと結構MOON Discをそのまま使ってくれるのですが、さすが日本のメーカーは違います。この手の車には履くホイルの選択が難しいのでしょう。
That Toyota IQ had Hub Caps that looked like MOON Discs. Most foreign makers use MOON Discs right out of the box without any problems, but not the Japanese makers. This car actually looks difficult to match a set of wheels with.

いまだにMOON Disc風が多いのは、古くも見えずむしろ未来的にも見えるからでしょうか？
これを僕は「苦しい時のMOON Disc」って言っています。
ホイルの選択に悩んだら、まずMOON Discです。
Even now, MOON Discs are widely used and don't look out of style or old. Instead they can appear to have a futuristic look to them.
I call this, "MOON Discs in hard times" It's if you have difficulty selecting wheels, first start with MOON Discs.

そして楽しいのは中国製の50ccのこの3輪車！販売価格350,000円位だそうです。
Pick UpのBedはかなり激しかったです。でもサンルーフ付きですよ。
A fun-looking vehicle was this China built 50cc three-wheeler! Selling price is 350,000 Yen (about USD $3,500) The Pick Up bed looks exciting. These are come with sun-roof.

最後にラパンベースのChevy C-10 Look Pick Up。これは出来すぎです。
CabinとBedはちゃんと切り離してあるし、全体のフォルムもPerfectですね。
そして正統派はMOON Disc screw on（ネジ止め）です。
このラパン最高！
今年のオートサロンも盛り上がっていました。
And finally, the Suzuki Lapin base Chevy C-10 Look Pick Up. They really went all out on this one. The Cab and bed are separate pieces. The overall flow and form is Perfect too.
Also topped off with MOON Disc Screw Type.
This Lapin is Awesome!
This year's Auto Salon was very exciting.

今日がクリスマスイブ

ステージでいきなり靴を脱ぎ何やら話し出すMr. Blue。本当は乾杯の発声のはずが思わず脱線、こんな調子で始まったMOONEYES Company Xmas Dinner
Mr. Blue suddenly took his shoe off and began telling some story on stage. He was initially going to make a toast, called KANPAI in Japanese, but drifted quickly off track and that was the start to our MOONEYES Company Xmas Dinner.

場所はいつものSeaman's Club
The place was the Seaman's Club in Yokohama,

結構料理がおいしいのです。
which has very delicious food.

Emcee for the evening was Kid Rocker along with Steve.

Santa Claus showed up with presents to give to all the children

恒例のビンゴゲームではこんな状態になったにも関わらず
and the anticipated BINGO game turned out like this.

最後まで当たらない方達は正座していました。
Regardless of the frenzy, there were a few that didn't win and sat down Japanese style up front in hopes to winning.

ビンゴ賞品に囲まれご機嫌の方々と、当たって大笑いの首のバンドエイドが気になるMOONEYES Fan。
Surrounding the Bingo prize table were happy winners as well as MOONEYES Fan, with a curious band-aid on his neck, bursting out in laughter as he finally won.

特別ゲストには、ベルギーのコブス君カップルとオランダのモリース君カップル、コブス君はEurope Bug Inの主催者の一人です。彼らはホットロッドショー前に来日し、東京、横浜を観光し、２２日に沖縄から戻ってきてばかりです。
Special guests joining us for the evening were Kobus from Belgium and Maurice from The Netherlands. Kobus is one of the European Bug-In promoters. They arrived in Japan just before HCS and have been sightseeing all over Japan since. They just came back from Okinawa on the 22nd.

１２月生まれの方々のHappy Birthdayのお祝いをし、
People with December birthdays came on stage and everyone sang Happy Birthday.

最後に、元Ｃｒｕｉｓｉｎ誌編集長及川氏が発行するFree Paper "Fly Wheels"の
紹介があり、お開きをなりました。
Lastly, post-Cruisin Magazine editor-in-chief Mr. OIKAWA announced and introduced a new Free Paper called "Fly Wheels" , bringing the dinner to a close.

ショー無事終了！

右隅でサングラスをかけているのはKustom Kultureの伝道師NASH君・・・The vendor booths were The vendor booths were really crowded with a slight clearing in the front at Detroit Junk. Seeing that, Mr. Kuwasawa of Steel was overcome with joy. In the right corner wearing sunglasses is Kustom Kulture missionary NASH.

Not to change the subject but my friend Paul, from Australia, sent me some photos recently of this Toyota Celica.
The way the rear tires are tucked and the method they used to cut the fenders in order to fit the narrowed rear-end is amazing.
It's really cool! By the way, the gas peddle is from MQQN!
If you plan on making a right-hand-drive Drag Race Car, Australia is the place!

遂に12月！！

先週のブログで、近くに開店したイトーヨーカードの開店セールに伴うMOONEYES Area-1/Cafe周辺の渋滞情報をお伝えしました。オープンした次の週末の先週はどうだったかと言うと、こんな感じでした。
In last week's blog, I mentioned the heavy congestion around MOONEYES Area-1/Cafe that was caused by the grand opening of Ito Yokado (super market).The weekend after the opening, in case you were wondering, this was how it looked.

信号の関係で時折混む時もありましたが、概ね順調、何か特別な事がある時は混み合うかもしれませんが取敢えず平穏に終わりました。
There was occasional congestion caused by the traffic light but otherwise it was favorable. It's possible that heavy traffic jams will be during special events and sales only but this weekend finished quietly.

遂に１２月、今週末はショーです。
Finally December, this weekend is the Show.

山下公園の銀杏が散ってしまうといよいよ冬本番です。

ショーまであと10日

昨日　コンテナからUSからの車とバイクを引き出しました。
The cars and motorcycles that were shipped from the US were pulled out of the containers yesterday.
この時期になるとショーが始まるって感じがしてきます。
At this time of year, I always get this feeling inside, like the show is about to begin.

バイクもベンダーブースも過去最高のエントリー数となり会場はパンパンな感じです。
motorcycles and vendor booth entries reached a record high that the show space is mind blowing.

そうです、パンパンと言えばMOONEYES Mail Magazine EditorのTankはパンパンになったほほを押さえ「なぜこんなに？！？！」って感じでボーゼンとしていました
Yes, speaking of mind blowing, MOONEYES Mail Magazine Editor TANK, that handled the floor plan, felt the same way. "How could this be?!?!" Seen here in a daze.

Crown 三昧

19回目のCrown PicnicにHawaiiからKirkがやって来ました。
先日、日本から送ったMS51がHonoluluに到着した画像を貰いましたので皆さんに紹介します。　
Kirk from Hawaii came to the 19th Annual Crown Picnic. He gave me a photo, that I am posting here, of the MS51 (Toyopet/Toyota Crown) that was shipped from Japan, arriving in Honolulu.

彼の住まいはBig IslandなのでまたHonoluluからBig Islandへ車を運ばなければなりません。
気候のよい所に移ればきっと車も長生きできますね。車のためには幸せな事かもしれません。
これから板金、そして登録するそうです。Hawaiiﾌﾟﾚｰﾄが付いたMS51なんてカッコ良さそうですね。
ぜひまた画像を下さい。
He lives on the Big Island so it still needed to be transported from Honolulu to the outer islands.
Living somewhere in a mild climate, I bet the car will last a long time too. It might be for the cars that brings happiness. Now, all it needs is registration and a license plate. It must be really cool to see an MS51 with a Hawaii plate. Anytime, please send me photos!

Assembled at the event were a number of Crowns with MOONEYES/BOYDS Daisy Wheels.
Could this be a Daisy revival? There were at least 10 different MOONEYES/BOYDS wheel designs but Daisy wheels are all you see today. It seems the 5-spoke wheels are forever immortal. The Daisy wheels match Perfect on the Crown.

こちらの56は仕事のOFFを利用し久しぶりに参加してくれたSさんです。
It's been a long time but Mr. S participated this year in this 56 that he uses only when OFF work.

40系丸テールが3台壮観です。
There were three spectacular Round Tail Model-40s

会場で珍しく真剣な表情のMr. Blue。この不景気、どこかに逃亡でも企てているのでしょうか？
その相談に載るのは高速有鉛Editor。
An unusual appearance at the meeting was Mr. Blue with a serious look on his face. In these hart times, could he be thinking of a plan to escape somewhere?
Up to the task of consulting him was the Kousoku Yuen Editor.

そして彼はこんなステッカーを配っていました。
He was also distributing stickers like this.

参考にして下さい。石川県からお子さんと2人で参加してくれました。
This 56-Pick is amazing with its 5R and Injection. For details be sure to check out Kousoku Yuen or Truck Trends magazine as it's featured in there.Participating in the event with their child, the two of them came all the way from Ishikawa (western coast of Japan).

Krown Kｌassix号のモリ君は清水からの参加、大事にしてくれてありがとう！
Mr. MORI of Krown Klassix came from Shimizu to take part in the event. Thank you for taking care!

今回のCrown Picnicは、北海道、富山、岐阜、山形とか遠方から沢山の方々が参加してくれました。
来年遂に20回目となるCrown Picnic。今から楽しみです。
This year's Crown Picnic saw many participants from far distances like Hokkaido, Tomiyama, Gifu, Yamagata and more.
Next year's Crown Picnic with be the 20th anniversary and will be exciting.

最後に、いつものMOONEYES Fanはホイル交換を手伝い、引き上げて行きました。
Lastly, Mr. MOONEYES Fan was there helping out exchanging wheels and then he left.

モテギにて

あともう一歩で目的だったのにガス欠に合いレスキューされたMOONEYES Staffの相澤君、
We headed to Twin Ring MOTEGI, where Indy Japan 300 miles is held every year. MOONEYES Staff Aizawa had to be rescued within steps of our destination because he ran out of gas!

あともう一歩とは言ってもとまった所は、閉鎖中のモテギ東ゲートなぜそっちへ行っちゃったのか？
モテギは南か北ゲートだよ。
Although we were steps from our destination, the place we stopped was actually near the closed Motegi East Gate - why did he go to that side? Motegi is South or North Gates which are always open.

さて会場内で注油を済ませ、安心しコースへ入場。
After getting inside, we finished filling up and safely entered the oval course area.

先週はネコ・パブリッシングの開催する土日 ２Dayのイベントがあり、日曜日はVWのDrag Race、
それに友人の宮崎君が参加すると言うの応援に行って来ました。
部品取り様に購入したT-1に自分のエンジンを載せ参加となったそうですが、一番Ratでした。
当日、周回レースも同時開催され、そちらには大変な高額車が本気で走っていました。
Last week was Neko Publishing's 2-Day event (Saturday and Sunday) with Sunday being VW Drag Races. My friend Miyazaki was participating and we went to cheer him on. He purchased the T-1 to use for parts but changed his mind and put his own engine in it to race, but it looked like a Rat.

中にはこんな風にトウされる９０４（だと思う）や、
On that day, there was a circuit race going on at the same time with some serious cars running the course. Inside there was a 904, I think, being towed.

VW周回レースでおなじみのY's Cup主催者の佐藤君も参加、しかし彼が目の前を通過したのはこの時だけでした。どこかで何かが起こり９０４のようにトウされたそうですが　残念ながら目の前に二度と姿を見せませんでした。
There was a VW circuit race as well with Y's Cup organizer Mr. Sato participating in his race car. However, he only passed by once. I think something happened on the other side and he was towed like the 904. Unfortunately, that was the only time I saw the car.

MOONEYES Area-1　マネジャー成田君のブログ「本牧スタイル」にも登場した1969年Mustang Boss 302は元気に軽快に目の前を通過してゆきました。
The 1969 Mustang BOSS 302 that has appeared on MOONEYES Area-1 manager Narita's blog "HONMOKU STYLE" before was running real strong and nimble, passing right before my eyes.

このサンビームアルパイン or タイガー（だと思う）はなんと "MOON CAFE" のプレートを付けて下さっています。ありがとうございます！！懐かしのTV「それ行けスマート」もサンビームでした、最近映画化された「Get Smart」が公開中ですが面白いですよ。ぜひご覧下さい。
This Sunbeam Alpine or Tiger (I think) really surprised me because it had a "MOON CAFE" license plate attached to it. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! The old TV show "Get Smart" had a Sunbeam. Recently made into a movie "Get Smart" is now showing and it's very interesting. If you get the chance, you should see it.

MOON BuggyはフロントにAir Shockを入れ少々車高を下げたので　停車中の姿は最高にいい感じになりました。
There are Air Shocks on the front of the MOON Buggy and that lowered it just a little but the stance and view from the side looks perfect.

スタンド前を疾走し帰路に付く相澤君です。

Gasser - ガッサー??

Gasser、日本ではガッサー？僕的はギャッサーの方がSound rightなんですが
当社のSteveが ”ガッサー” って言うから、どうやらそうらしい。
GASSER. In Japanese, spelling is based on pronunciation so how is Gasser spelt?
For me, I say it like [Gya-sah] which sounds right but our "native" English speaker, Steve, says [Gas-sah] without the minor Y sound. He says it's the same as GASOLINE. Perhaps a good point.

さて、Bakersfieldで見たGasser Styleのレースカー達です。
USではまだこのブームは続いています。
Anyway, here are some Gasser Style racers from our trip to Bakersfield.
This "LOOK" is still very popular in the US.

そしてGasserの肝はなんと言ってもMOON DecalとMOON　Fuel Tankです。
Speaking of GASSERS, many were equipped with MOON Decals and/or a MOON Fuel Tank, which suit this car perfectly.

カスヒルってなんだ？？

先週末は10回目のカスヒルこと「カスタムヒル」でした。
Last weekend was the 10th Custom Hill meeting.

当日の天気は富士山を一望できる快晴！
The weather on this day was excellent with an unfiltered shot of Mt. Fuji.

早朝、横浜を出発したスタッフも合流し会場へGO！
We met up with other MOONEYES Staff that left Yokohama in the early morning and together to the event area it was GO!

グリーンが綺麗な会場は最高です。
A meeting place with clean and beautiful green is so perfect.

ほぼ一日中、富士山を見る事ができました。
There was an excellent view of Mt. Fuji almost all day long.

農家のオジサンではありません。Deuce Factoryの笠井さんです。
That's not a old farmer. That's the Deuce Factory Japan's Mr. Kasai.

搬出途中で会場を後にしたParadise Roadの下平さん・生井さん
Mr. Junichi Shimodaira & Mr. Namai of Paradise Road left early while the event was still going on.

久しぶりに会場を早く出たので、ヘルメットを被り帰路を急ぐドライバーのMr.Blue.
It's been a while for him to leave early but with his helmet on, driver Mr. Blue rushed out.

31 October (Friday) is almost here and MOON Illustrated Magazine (MIM) vol.2 will be available across the nation at all bookstores. This issue has a total of 150 pages and 2/3 is featured articles with 1/3 including products that were released after MIM#1 plus new products for Fall and Winter. The main focus around most of the content and featured articles is Southern California centric as well as Wildman's Hentai page among other content.
And it's bilingual English and Japanese!

We are now taking advace order for the catalog's(MIM#2) release through our mail order.

We hope you enjoy MIM#2 as much as we enjoyed putting it all together.

水曜日のShop

今週末、Bakersfieldで開催されるNHRA Hot Rod Reunionに向けて
MOONEYES Dragsterの準備も整いつつあります。
今回は燃料をアルコールに代えたので試しにEngineを掛けてみると、

音を聞いてまずBill （写真奥）が、

そしてDoug（写真手前）,　

最後にBobと
皆Machine Shopに集まって来ました。

「ガソリンとは音が違う」とか、「パワーもアップしている」とか話していると　
MikeとDarrenがグラグラしたフロントホイルを修理の為外し始めました。

そうこうしていたら大学時代のルームメイトのTomがShopに現れたのです。
行方を捜していたのですが手がかりも無く半分諦めていたのです。　
会えて良かったです。
Great to see you again, Tom!

VW Type-II Party

Type-II Party、その昔秘密裏に「タイクツ パーティー」と呼ばれていました。昨年までは赤レンガ倉庫となりの埠頭で開催していましたが、そこ建物が立ってしまったので、今年は本牧 MOONEYES Area-1裏で開催しました。
A red brick warehouse is what became of the previous meeting place for the Type-II Party on the pier and now that a building is there, this year the meeting was held in the rear parking area at HONMOKU Area-1.

これが思いのほかコンパクトにまとまり、エントリー台数が減り続けるこのイベントにはちょうど良い開催場所となりました。と言っても　Type-II 55台、Swap Meet 30軒と見ごたえあるイベントにが変わりありません。

皆様エントリーありがとうございました。

Initially, a compact area like this wasn't desired but each year the number of entries have slightly decreased for this event and the results made it a perfect size meeting space.
With that said, there were 55 T-2 vehicles and 30 Swap Meet spaces filled which truly was something to see. To everyone and all the entrants, thank you very much for coming out.

今回、一番気になったのはこのType-IIでした。とにかく低い、Low, Lower, Lowest? こんな進行形あるか分かりませんが、その位い低くてカッコ良かったです。
This was the most interesting T-II this time. At any rate, it was low. Low, Lower, Lowest? Don't know much about this kind of progressive form but at that low stance, it looked extremely cool.

このイベント唯一の賞である Long Distance賞は、北海道 千歳市からお越しの小林さん。それも青函連絡船以外　全行程自走と言うガッツに感謝です。それもトンボ帰りの強行軍、ショー終了後青森まで走る!って気合が違います。
This event had one award, the Long Distance Award, and it went to Ms Kobayashi, all the way from Chitose, Hokkaido (the northern most island of Japan) which is about 1,160km (721 miles) from Honmoku, Yokohama.

一般駐車場にはK-Carのコンバージョンもショーを見に来てくれました。
In the parking lot, there were a group of K-Cars with conversions that came to see the show.

さてMOONEYES Area-1では　突然のKawasaki KH250の来店にスキップを踏み喜びを隠し切れない
Wildman, 手には何と力道山のメルセデスを持っているではりませんか。　
この男、いったいどこまで行ってしまうのでしょうか。
Over at Area-1, an unexpected Kawasaki KH250 was parked at our store and unable to control or hide his excitement and urges, literally skipping to its side was Wildman! Is he holding a super car Mercedes or something? This guy, you have to wonder just how far he will go.

さてMOONEYESの主催するEventはいつも沢山のHelperの皆様が手を貸してくれています。
Now, when ever there's a MOONEYES sponsored event, we have many people that lend a hand and become Helpers for the day.

その中で今年皆勤賞を狙うHelperのMOONEYES Fan。じつは彼は昔1971年Dodge Challenger それも426 Hemi Motor, しかもAT車、何でも12台しか作られなかったという超貴重なオートマ付きＨｅｍｉを持っていたのですが、ちょっとした心の迷いからそれを手放ししまい心に残るのは深い後悔だけ。
Within that group, there's a Helper that has had perfect attendance to every event this year and he's a MOONEYES Fan. The fact is, he used to own a 1971 Dodge Challenger with a 426 Hemi Motor. Although being an AT, there were only 12 built that year - now an insanely valuable Hemi Automatic - that he used to own was reluctantly sold years ago. Not only was he hesitant to let it go, he emotions run very deep still today and obviously had heavy hearted regret.

そんな彼の前を1970 Challnegerがやって来ました。
Just then, in front of him came a 1970 Challenger.

車から目を背けるMOONEYES Fan
MOONEYES Fan deliberately looking the other direction of the car.

目を逸らしたに関わらず　後姿を見送る未練タラタラのMOONEYES Fanでした。
Although he turned the other way, MOONEYES Fan looked after it passed and drove away - with lingering regrets.

仙台ハイランドは煙モクモクでした。

Sunday 9月28日は不安定な天気ではありましたが　PRA Fall National & So Cal Speed Trialが無事開催されました。Super Shotが主催するSo Cal Speed Trialは　煙モクモク、9秒台続出、凄い一日でした。
With unstable weather on Sunday, September 28, the PRA Fall National & So Cal Speed Trial was successfully held. Super Shot sponsored So Cal Speed Trial filled the air with smoke and recorded several 9-second runs for a full day of excitement.

この'66 Novaは、この日最速の9.463秒を記録。
This '66 Nova ran the fastest of the day at 9.463 seconds,

2番目が '73 Camaro、9.688秒。しかし9秒台4台中3台がBig Blockという中、このCamaroはSmall Blockです。驚きの速さです。
followed close by number 2, a '73 Camaro with 9.688 seconds.
However, out of the four cars that ran in the 9 second bracket, 3 were Big Blocks and this Camaro with a Small Block. It was surprisingly fast.

3番目は '69 Chevelle、9.908秒、
Third fastest time was a '69 Chevelle at 9.912 seconds,

次が '69 Camaro、9.912秒でした。
遂に9秒台突入です。どんどん速くなりますが見ていると結構怖いかったです。
and a '69 Camaro with 9.912 seconds, just making it in the 9's.
These cars are getting faster and it's very scary to watch in person.

この貴重な '70 Camaro Z28は12.491秒、
This valuable '70 Camaro Z28 ran at 12.491 seconds.

ちょっと遅れてMOONEYESの'72 Novaが12.497秒。
Novaは普通のタイヤなのでこんなモクモクを4回もやったので、実走行距離は50キロもない新品タイヤの溝が無くなってしまいました。
Just behind that was the MOONEYES '72 Nova at 12.497 seconds. The Nova was using normal tires but managed to smoke 'em like this all four times. With less than 50km of use, these were still new tires but the tread was almost gone by the day's end.

女性ドライバーIgnite Magazine発行人の佐久間さんの '67 Camaroは遂にフロントが上がりました！タイムもどんどんよくなり10秒台もすぐ近くの11.045秒。凄い！
Ignite Magazine's female driver, Ms. Sakuma, in her '67 Camaro finally got the front wheels off the ground! She also improved her time with every pass, getting closer to the 10s. She clocked in at 11.045 seconds. That's GREAT!

静岡県富士市から自走参加の '74 Ford Marvericは思ったほどタイムが伸びず15.735秒、床屋さんのオーナーちょっと悩んでいました。
This '74 Ford Maverick drove to the day's event from Fuji, in Shizuoka-ken. The barber shop owner was a little worried though, with a 15.735 second time.

PRAではベテランの西谷さん、大友さんもNew Machineでモクモクでしたし、
The veterans of PRA, Mr. Nishitani and Mr. Otomo had brought a New Machine.

Flat-4のNao君もかなりハードな走りをしていました。
Nao from Flat-4 was there too. They all drove real hard.

帰りの東北道は栃木インター付近から「11キロ 120分」なんて事故渋滞もあり、ヘラヘラで走っていると偶然V-Woodyと遭遇。彼は仙台にはいませんでしたから、どこから現れたのでしょうか？
On the way home on Tohoku HWY, there was an accident on Tochigi-Interchange that backed up traffic, taking 120 minutes to travel only 11km (almost 7 miles). It was a slow ride home. Just by chance, we saw the V-Woody. He wasn't there in Sendai with us so I wonder where he was traveling from?

仙台 PRA Drag Race

晴れの予報を楽しみに仙台ハイランドに行ったらこんな感じでした。
虹？！？！　それが出るのは？？そんな状況でした。

Went to Sendai Highland looking forward to clear skies as reported in the weather forecast and this is what it was like.
Rainbow?!?! Those come out when?? That was the situation.

AON

21日(日）、11回目のオール オッズ ナショナルズでした。　

昨年は朝から大雨、今年は昼から大雨、それでも午前中は何とか降られなかったので良かったとしましょう。

来年は一日中晴れでしょう。

250台近くのOddが集まったAONで　僕の個人的なPickはこの５台。

It was the 11th ALL ODDS Nationals (AON) event on the 21st (Sunday).

Last year there was heavy rain in the morning. This year, heavy rain came in the afternoon. At least the rain didn't come down too much in the morning, so that was a good thing.

It should be sunny all day long next year.

There were over 250 "Odd" vehicles that gathered at AON. Personally, these were my five favorite Picks:

１）最近初期Ｚが　カッコ良く見えてきました。
　　このＺは、そんな事より前からカッコいいので好きな1台です。
　　ＣＡ Ｓｔｙｌｅですね。

1.) Lately, the first generation Z from Nissan (Datsun) looks really cool.
This Z, although I've liked this one for a long time, is one nice looker.
It has CA Style.

２）このコロナも好きな一台です。
　　雰囲気がいいコロナですね。

2.) Another one I like is this Toyota Corona.
This Corona has all the right stuff for a great overall look.

３）Crown WGN，　高速有鉛誌、Cruisin'誌の誌面にも登場した　
　　ストレートBodyなCrown、日本でもここまで国産車を仕上げる風潮が
　　盛り上がるといいですね。そんなきっかけになる1台かもしれません。

3.) This Crown with its straight body has been featured in the pages of Crown WGN, Kousoku Yuen Magazine and Cruisin Magazine. It is really nice to see someone motivated enough to complete a Japanese Domestic car in this way. This one might be the one and only type like this.

４）Mitsubishi セレステ(USではPlymouth Arrow）です。これはカッコイイ、オーナーはBig MOONEYES Fanです。

4.) Mitsubishi Celeste a.k.a Plymouth Arrow in US. This Celeste is really awesome. He is big fan of MOONEYES.

５）そして今年のBest of AONは　Pink Beauty Ring、Ｐｉｎｋ Hood Bra
　　そしてKZ Studioを彷彿させるPaint 620です。
　　隣の６２０も良かったのですが、Final Gearを思い出しました。
　　SCNのはじめ頃はずいぶん協力して頂きました。

5.) And finally, the Best of AON which featured Pink Beauty Rings, a Pink Hood Bra and a custom paint job with a close resemblance to Old KZ Studio in Japan back in 80s, was this Datsun 620 pickup.
The other trucks next to it were all looking great too, like ex Final Gear Co., taste.

これから色々な情報が増えてゆきますので、その都度アップします。

追伸：Yoshi's Trumph はSoldとなりました。



Details of the Hot Rod Custom Show coming up this year are almost completed.

Right now there are 2 cars and 4 bikes, plus Chico's '27 Roadster that made a new class record at Bonneville is being considered.

More information will increase starting now. There will be updates posted here as we get closer to the show.
This year it will be on December 7, Sunday.

鈴鹿SCN

6月1日は、12回目のSCN鈴鹿でした。
前日までの悪天候も、当日は晴れ上がり、このイベントは天気が何時も良いです。
朝6時のゲートオープン前に会場入りさせて頂き、ショップの準備も8時過ぎには整いました。



すると、パラダイスロードの下平君が、バイクでやって来ました。
　

また、Junichiとして知られている下平君は、有名なカスタム車のロドリゲス、Galaxian、Triumph Chopperなどいろいろ造っています。


SCNではファラオスのメンバーや、パラダイスロードの生井君とか、皆イベントヘルパーとして例年手伝っているのですが、彼だけは何時も何もしていません。　
そして遅れてやって来ます。
日も昇り、アワードの選考に会場を歩いていると、また下平君がやって来て、「このバンパー凄いでしょ！'76 Elcaminoのバンパーを20箇所も切ったり貼ったりして僕が作ったの！」　


「このフロントグリル見て！これもボクが作ったの！」っと熱弁、ハイハイと聞いていました。
熱弁しながら、逃げる我々を追いかける下平君が、ここに写っています。


'55 Chevy、カッコ良かったです。


会場を廻っていると、沖縄のMOONEYES Dealerの尾崎さんも、兄弟で出店していたり、


古くからのお客様の丹羽様が、'64 Chevelle 2dr Stationwagonでエントリーしていました。


会場を一廻りしてもどってくると、MOONEYESショップにもお客様が沢山！



その軒先で、Mr. Blueは何とミカン箱をテーブル代わりに、サクラカーショーで残ったTシャツを売っているではありませんか？！


太陽も高くなり空を見上げると、なんと月が太陽と重なり、太陽の光が遮断される皆既月食が発生していました。
この時期にしては大変目面らしい現象ですね。


さて、今回のMOONEYES　Awardは、タイヤのサイズから車高からツボをしっかり抑えた、'69 Chevelle SSの大橋様と決定しました。
おめでとうございます！


15時には閉会となりましたが、皆、会場を後にするのが惜しいような素晴らしい環境と天気のなか、楽しい一日を過ごさせてもらいました。
今回、プリウスで行ったのですが、出発前、横浜で満タンにし往復約８００キロ、無注油、横浜に戻ってきても、まだ２メモリも残っていると言う好記録をマークしました。
この時期、素晴らしい車です。

	主催者、Hot Stuffの山口さん。自作の楯です。
カムシャフターズ会長、Vannuys SHZの時田さん Camshafters Awardは、杉岡さんのLow Rider。	何やらけわしい表情の、 カスタムカー編集長の窪田さん（右）
	あともう一歩、富士川SAにて。
横浜、本牧には11：30頃到着。お疲れ様！

The weather was bad everyday leading up to the event, but it clear up on event day. This event always has excellent weather.

Entering the event area before the gates opened at 6:00 AM, the MOONEYES shop tent and display space completed setup just after 8:00 AM.

Around that time, Mr. Shimodaira from Paradise Road came by on his motorcycle.
Mr. Shimodaira, also known as Junichi, built the infamous custom cars Rodriguez and Galaxian as well as a Triumph Chopper among others.
At SCN, Pharaohs car club members and Paradise Road's Mr. Namai and others assist as event helpers. However, Junichi is always not doing something or arriving late.
As the day progressed, it was time for the award selections.
Walking to the area, there's Junichi again. "Isn't this bumper great! It's a '76 El Camino bumper that's been cut and mended in 20 places," exclaims Junichi. In a fervor he continues, "Look at this front grille! I built this too!" Listening with nods in agreement, an attempt is made to run away but Junichi is quick to follow

Mr. Niwa, a long time MOONEYES customer, entered his '64 Chevrolet Chevelle 2dr station wagon.

Just after one lap through the event area there are a lot of customers at the MOONEYES shop, and what's this?
Over on the edge is Mr. Blue, using what appears to be a tangerine-box as a table selling left over t-shirts from the Sakura car show event?!

The sun high in the sky, looking up there's a moon over-lapping it.
The sun is being blocked... it's a total solar eclipse! This is such a rare phenomenon.

Now then, the MOONEYES Award this time is presented to Mr. Ohhashi and his '69 Chevrolet Chevelle for it's great looks, tire size and ride height to it's firmly planted stance and ground coverage. Congratulations!

The end of the event was at 3:00 PM but no one wanted to leave because it was such a wonderful day.
With such a great environment and excellent weather, everyone enjoyed the day and extended the event a bit longer..

The TOYOTA Prius was used to commute to the event this time and the tank was filled in Yokohama prior to departure.
The round trip was about 800 kilometers (500 miles) and there was still 2 brackets of fuel showing. In this present time of fuel concerns, this is such a wonderful car.

22回 SCNのAward Cars

Long Distance賞：2000 Toyota Hilux

Long Distance賞は、鹿児島からお越しの勝目さん、2000年式のハイラックス。

LQQK賞：1970 Chevelle SS　

70年Chevelle SSは大好きな1台です。Big BlockにBill Jenksのハンド グラインドMOON Cam、Chevy MotorはCamを入れるのとノーマルとではまったく違います。ちょっとリフトのあるCamが入っていると本当に惚れ惚れしたサウンドなんですよ。MOPAR系に押され気味なChevyですが、このChevelleはそんな会場でも光っていました。Chevyがんばろう！

ZQQM賞：1988 Toyota Hilux

このハイラックの丸目、昔乗っていたのです。US仕様はキャビンがちょっと長くて(日本では４WDのキャビンがそうです）うらやましかったです。古いハイラックスですが綺麗になっていて素晴らしい！

GQQD賞：2003 Suzuki ラパン

ラパンベースの小サバーバン、いいですね。一目みてサバーバンだし。時田さんが「ラパーバン」と命名していました。USA車に似せた所がGOODです。

CQQL賞：1959 VW Type-I

1959年型VW Type-Iはカッコよすぎる。Area-1で見た時カッコよすぎてビックリしました。今回のCQQL賞は勿論です。

VQQM賞：1979 Toyota チェイサー

2006年のHCSでデビューしたチェイサー、今回は清水から自走で参加、しかもChevy V-8にMOON Cam、そう、メリハリのはるあの乾いた排気音。ここまでやっている国産は少ないですね。オーナーの気力に脱帽のVQQM賞です。

Camshafterｓ賞：1974 VW Type-I

これは必見です。是非、今年のHCSに参加してほしいなー。完成が楽しみです。

Deuce Factory賞：1932 Ford Roadster

Deuce Factory賞はこの32年ハイボーイ、これからの季節に最高ですね。朝のうちは雨だったのご苦労様でした。

今年は８個Awardがありました。
朝の雨も上がり、気温も次第に上昇し楽しいEventとなりました。皆様ありがとうございました。

Mr. Katsume brought his truck from Kagoshima, which is 1,483km (927 miles) far south of Tokyo. Kagoshima is on the southwestern tip of Kyushu and is the most southern prefecture of all Japan.

LQQK Award: 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS
Big Block Chevy, Bill Jenks Hand-grinded MOON Cam.
The Chevy motor is quite different when comparing stock cam and high lifted cam. Having a cam with just a slight lift will noticeably create a very strong sound. Although this Chevy is hard pressed against MOPARs,
because MOPAR is very popular now in Japan and US as well, this 1970 Chevelle shined bright at the show.

1970 Chevy Chevelle SS is my favorite too! Go Chevy!

Don't forget, a MOON Racing Cam is grinded by the hands of MOON's long term Master Grinder and Craftsman, Bill Jenks. His camshafts are built to specs and still available.

ZQQM Award: 1988 Toyota Hilux Pickup
I used to own a Toyota Hilux like this a long time ago but my truck was a bit older, with round eyes (headlights). But the cab was small because of Japanese spec. I always wanted to have US cab and US bed, but was unable to do it.
In US Spec, the cab is a little longer (like the Japanese spec 4WD cab).
Oh yes, American spec is big!
It was an envious feeling to see such a vehicle. It's such an old Toyota Hilux but very clean it looks wonderful!

GQQD Award: 2003 Suzuki Lapin (base) '70 Chevy Suburban-Look
At first glance, it's really an early 70's Chevy Suburban. It was given the name of "Lapurban" by Mr. Tokita, owner of Vannuys Automotive SHZ.

CQQL Award: 1959 VW Type I Beetle
This VW T-1 is way too cool! When I first saw this at MOONEYES Area-1 parking lot, it was shocking just how cool it looked. It sits very low to the ground with vintage cal-look wheels and retains stock bumpers and chrome trim. This time, no doubt, the CQQL Award winner.

VQQM Award: 1979 Toyota Chaser
Debuted at HSC 2006 and built by Vannuys Automotive SHZ
Driven from Shimizu, which is about 160km (100 miles) from Tokyo, and without a trailer. But it's got a Small Block Chevy V-8, and a MOON CAM. Yes, producing that unique sound and exhaust pitch all the way here.
At this point in the awards, the domestic production cars are few and far between. Saluting the Owner's energy is the VQQM Award.

Camshafters Award was goes to 1974 VW Type I (Volksrod style)
I hope they participate in this year's HCS.
It's great to see once they complete.

The Deuce Factory Award: 1932 Ford Roadster Hi-boy
The season is just starting out, we'll see this one again.

There were eight Awards this year. With the morning rain passing and clearing the skies, the temperature gradually rose steady. The result was a wonderful day. It was a memorable and fantastic event.

快晴 Drag Race

4月6日(日）仙台ハイランドで、PRA Spring National Drag Raceが開催されました。
快晴の仙台ハイランド、随分久しぶりのような感じがします。
次回は5月25日(日）です。　また天気が良いといいですね！



PRA Spring National Drag Race was hosted on Sunday April 6th at Sendai High land Drag Strip in Northern Japan.
It was perfect Sunny day at Sendai High-land, which we didn’t have for a long time.
The next date for Drag Race at Sendai Drag Strip is on Sunday May 25th.
Hope the weather is great again.

YOKOHAMA HOT ROD Custom Show 2007 DVD遂に発売開始！

今回は、ショー前のUSA取材に始まり、ショー前日の搬入、ショー当日、そして搬出、After the showのTokyo TourやGet Together Partyとか、とにかく内容豊富。横浜市内を走るHot Rod & KustomそしてChopper、動きの無いインドアショーが十分楽しめる内容です。英語で分かりやすい部分はそのままですが日本語の字幕付き、また一部日本語には英語の字幕付き、凄い！分かり易い！そしてボーナストラックにはJason Jesseeも登場！今回のDVDは今までDVDとはちょっと違うぞ！製作はMOONEYES USA Xmas Party DVDで拍手喝采を受けたUSAのGarage Production。最高の出来です。



YOKOHAMA HOT ROD Custom Show 2007 DVD is finally released!
The YOKOHAMA HOT ROD Custom Show 2007 DVD starts with the interview in USA before the Show cruise in on set up day, "Tokyo Tour" on after the show plus "Get Together Party" and more things are featured this time. The Hot Rod & Kustom and Chopper cruise in the city of Yokohama, the motion less indoor show DVD features far more moving contents to enjoy. The DVD has Japanese subtitle except for easy English part, and also English subtitle for some Japanese part, wow that's very easy to understand. And special bonus track features Jason Jessee in his new studio. This DVD is not like the previous DVDs, The produced by Garage Production USA who received best applause for MOONEYES USA Xmas Party DVD. It's very well done.

東京オートサロンに行ってきました

New Jackets & New Dickies Pantsの金子社長 ⇒Mr. Blueのひとり言

先週末は東京オートサロンでした。感想としてはセリカ、フェアレディーZ、箱スカといった俗に言う国産旧車が結構多かったです。これも時代の流れでしょうか。



MOONEYESも1-JZ換装のクラウンMS50セダンを展示したので、今年は少しは流れに乗れた感じでした。

沢山の車が展示される中、夢があったのは静岡工科自動車大学校の生徒さん達が製作した、マツダキャロルベースにカスタムされた「紲-KIZUNA」でした。



日本自動車大学校（NATS） ブースに展示されていたNISSAN 720 トラックのボンネットには何と！Truck Mastersの記念Tシャツまで飾られ、主催のBlue Panic 金子社長の喜びようと言ったらありませんでした。



その他、会場で気になったのは　ホンダ バモス ベースのStep Vanにそっくりなポケットバン。


日産 ラシーン ベースのハマーならぬLummern H4、よく出来てますね。


そしてスズキ ラパン ベースのChevy Suburban LOOK、これもよく出来ていました。K-carは楽しいですね！


Last weekend was Tokyo Auto Salon. My impression was that many of those called Japanese Domestic Classics called as JDC like Toyota Celica, Nissan Farilady Z and Nissan Skyline called "Hako-Ska" in Japanese were displayed inside the show. May be this is due to current popularity of the JDC style.

MOONEYES had late Toyota's Twin Camed 1JZ Motor swapped Sleeper 1970 Toyota CROWN MS50 Sedan displayed so felt like was on the current move this year.

Among many cars in display, ones with Dreams were the 1960 something Mazda Carol based Hot Rod called "Kizuna" build by students of Shizuoka Professional College of Automobile Technology.

At booth of Nihon Automobile Technology School(NATS), very surprised to find Nissan 720 Mini Truck which had "Truck Masters" Special Show T-shirts displayed on hood, and how happy the president of Blue Panic Mr. Kaneko who is the organizer of Truck Master was well more than anyone expected.

Other than that was HONDA Vamos based "Pocket Van" look a like Old HONDA Step Van.

NISSAN Lasheen based "Lummern H4" look a like Hummer, build very well.

And SUZUKI Lapin based Chevy Suburban LOOK, This was build very well too. K-cars(Japanese Small Cars) are fun too!

Project 遂に完成

遂に完成です。

明日、パシフィコ横浜で開催される第16回 YOKOHAMA HOT ROD・Custom Show 2007で、思い出のOCIR (Orange County International Raceway）ブ-スを製作し、この車を展示予定です。

Finally It is completed!

Tomorrow at Pacifico Yokohama, the reminiscence of OCIR(Orange County International Raceway) booth will be made because OCIR was my heart and displayed at The 16th Annual YOKOHAMA HOT ROD Custom Show 2007! OCIR, it was everything there.

MOONEYESのChoppers

以前、Tankのブログで大型二輪免許証取得とありましたが、4名が教習所に通い、3名が大型を取得し、1名が奮闘中です。その3名もそれぞれバイクを購入し、乗り廻すようになって来ました。



広告のManager、MOONEYES Mail Magazine Editorであり、カタログ等を作っているTankこと大津君は、Brat Styleに依頼していたSR Chopperが先週末完成しました。



営業のManagerのMapこと松浦君も、Bullのヨネ君を手こずらせながらも1969年のTriumph Chopperを手に入れました。70s丸出しのChopperです。彼はこのバイクで相模大野から、いつでも渋滞している16号・保土ヶ谷バイパスで通勤するつもりのようです。今までは車通勤でしたから何とか遅刻しても たどり着けましたが、このChopperでは途中で故障の為「欠勤」なんて事もありそうです。今後の彼の社会人人生を左右する一台になるかもしれません。



仕入れ関係のManagerのOチャン角谷君は、Deluxieから1947年Triumphを購入。先日はお台場で開催されたトラックマスターズに参加したのですが、帰り道飛ばしすぎてバイクの調子が悪くなったようです。

さて、最後にいまだ免許取得に奮闘中の松井君は事故で潰れたHot Rodを直すか、Harleyを購入するか、どっちか一つにしないと厳しい現実になるかもしれません。

と言う事で、この3台、週末のショーに展示します。

最後にリアルバイカーのMasaとHiro佐藤は毎日バイクで通っています。これからは寒いので、暖かくなったら本牧山頂公園へツーリングです。



さて、進行中のPorjectはMax君に依頼していたScoopの延長も完成し、Currie製Ford 9インチデフに4.10を組み、Tractionbarも装着しました。



Previously "Tank" has mentioned in his blog that He was getting his driver license for unlimited size motorcycle but 4 of employee went to the Driving School and three achieved license and one is still taking class. That Three bought bike and started to ride around.

MOON Space Agency(Advertisement) manager, MOONEYES Mail Magazine Editor and Catalog Producer, Ohtsu who is called "TANK" has received his custom buit Yamaha SR 400 Chopper from Brat Style last week. As might have expected Brat Style made it with beautiful finish.

The Sales Manager "MAP" Matsuura managed to have 1969 650cc Triumph Chopper with much favor from Yone from Bull Original. It's very 70s Choppers. He thinks he can use as commuter from Sagamiono through major traffic jam of route 16 and Hodogaya Bypass. He has been commuting with car so he was able to reach even though he was late but with this Chopper he may not be able to reach to office as it may break down in some where. This may be the one bike that makes change to his career.

The purchasing Manager "O-chan", Sumiya has bout 1947 Triumph from Deluxie Customs. He went to Truck Masters last weekend at Odaiba in Tokyo by highway, too much speeding on way back and its running rough now.

Then lastly Matsui who used to be called "Kid Rocker" is still going to class and has to decide if he will fix his Hot Rod or buy Harley, must to choose one to afford.

So these three bikes will be on display at Show on this weekend.

And REAL biker MASA and HIRO SATO are commuting with motorcycle everyday.

Now its getting cold so when it gets warm we will go for ridding to Honmoku Sanchou Park, it's few miles away from us.

So the project in progress has completed scoop extension by Max-kun and Currie Ford 9 inch rear end with 4.10, traction bars and sub frame connector are added too.

ショーまで一週間！

遂にShow CarとShow Bikeの引き上げも無事に終わり倉庫で保管中です。こうしてクルマやバイクが到着すると緊張してきます。



そう言えば、DicE Magazineは会場でこの記念Tシャツを販売するそうです。若者には似合いそうなカラーですが、僕はもう少し待てば嫌でも誰かがこのカラーのシャツ等をくれるでしょうから、それまで待つことにします。



MOONEYESで進行中の企画も着々と進行中ですが、何とキャブレターがスクープの中に納まりきらず、Max君に急遽、スクープの延長をお願いした所です。

ショーまであと1週間！

Finally the Show Car and Show Bike has been pulled out safely and Kept in our ware house. Arrival of the show cars and bikes makes me nervous.

By the way the DicE Magazine will be selling this T-shirts at Show. This color looks good on young people, I might get some from some people in couple days so I will wait and see.

MOONEYES hosting plan is coming along too. But carburetor hit the scoop on hood and had asked Max-kun to extend the scoop.

ショーまであと11日

16回目のヨコハマ ホット ロッド・カスタム ショーまで後11日、あまり時間ありませんね。今日のMeetingで詳細が決定しGO！です。Long Beachからのコンテナも無事横浜港に到着し、MOONEYES USAで製作を続けてきたクルマも無事に到着です。細かいところはこれから仕上げることになりそうです。



11days left to the 16th YOKOHAMA HOT ROD Custom Show, not much time left. The details are finalized in Today's meeting and ready to go. Container has landed safely from Long Beach to Yokohama port. The car build at MOONEYES USA has safely arrived too. The details will be taken care from now.

2007 ヨコハマ ホット ロッド・カスタム ショーの舞台裏

16th YOKOHAMA HOT ROD・Custom Showまで遂に2週間とちょっと。舞台裏ではまだ進行内容もハッキリ決まっていません。そんな状況とは裏腹に、時間だけはどんどん過ぎてゆきます。

今回で16回目となりますが、今回は今までになく海外からの反響が大きく、こちらが分かっているだけもUSAからは勿論ですが、オーストラリア、イギリス、フランス、イタリー、ドイツ、スウェーデン、フィンランド、オランダ、韓国、香港・・・と100人近い方が海外からいらっしゃる予定です。凄い事になりそうだという期待と、今だに大枠しか決まっていない状況と不安は募るばかりです。

正直、今日15日の時点ではまだレイアウトも最終決定されていないあり様なので、当然エントリー受理証も郵送できない状況です。このブログが配信される17日土曜日には最終Meetingも終わり、「どうしようか？」が「こうしよう！」になっているはずです。

今回MOONEYESからはメールマガジンのEditorのTankこと大津君、Mapこと松浦君、そしてOcchan角谷君が晴れて大型2輪免許も取れ、自分のバイクで個人エントリーする事になったのです。楽しみにしていてください。MOONEYESではこんな感じのクルマの展示を考えています。



盛りだくさんになる事は間違いなしの16回目のヨコハマ ホット ロッド・カスタム ショーは12月2日(日)、後16日です。

In two weeks YOKOHAMA HOT ROD Custom Show will be hosted and behind the scene the plan for the program is not completed yet. Against the fact the time is flying by so fast.

This will be the 16th annual and we are getting more attention and attendance from all over world, as we know of there will be 100 people from all over the world including USA, Australia, England, France, Italy, German, Sweden, Finland, Holland, Korea and Hong Kong. The expectation of great show and yet the fact that main plan is only made makes more worries

.To be honest that as of 15th today, the layout is not finalized yet and the entry acceptance letter is not mailed out yet. On Saturday 17th when this Blog is released the final meeting will be over and "what shall we do?" should be decided as "What we will do".

This time from MOONEYES, Mail Magazine Editor "TANK" Ohtsu, "MAP" Matsura and "Occhan" Sumiya has managed to get motorcycle license and making entry with own motorcycles. Please look forward to it. MOONEYES is thinking about displaying this kind of cars.

No doubt it will be loaded and 16th YOKOHAMA HOT ROD Custom Show will be hosted on Sunday December 2nd. Just 16 days left.

YOKOHAMA HOT ROD・Custom Show 2007

遂にYOKOHAMA HOT ROD・Custom Show 2007(HCS)まで1ヶ月、カリフォルニア Long Beachの倉庫には日本に送るべくクルマやバイクが集まりつつあります。

一つ残念なのは、Trevelenが製作したIndian Crazy Horseが来れない可能性が高くなってきました。最後まで交渉を続けていますが、ここ2-3日で解決出来ないとShipmentをミスしてしまいます。諦めず交渉を続けるつもりです。

YOKOHAMA HOT ROD Custom Show 2007 Information.
Finally its one month until YOKOHAMA HOT ROD Custom Show 2007(HCS). In ware house in Long Beach, California, the bikes and cars are gathering to be shipped to Japan for the show. One thing that I am disappointed with is that "Crazy Horse" Indian build by Trevelen may not make it to the show. We will negotiate until last day but if we don't have it solved with in these 2-3days it will miss the shipment. We are not giving up yet and will continue to negotiate.

On the Cruisin' Magazine Issue #51 released on Oct 26th, the special issue introduce people coming to the show and guest invited to the HCS. [US Trip Report]

ホット ロッド・カスタム ショー 情報

12月2日(日)開催の"第16回 YOKOHAMA HOT ROD・Custom Show 2007"参加予定のUSA Peopleからのメッセージをお送りします。もう2ヶ月を切ってしまいました。いつもの事ですが、実はまだショー内容も良く決まってません。



先週、ショーに先駆け、Cruisin'誌編集長とCaliforniaへ彼らを取材に行ってきました。 10月26日発売のCruisin'でもその模様は紙面上で紹介されますが、今回はそれに先立ちDVDのデモリールを作りましたので　それをお送りします。



今年のDVDは昨年のMOONEYES USA Xmas PartyのDVDを製作し、大好評だったCaliforniaのGarage Production製作。



ヨコハマに来る彼らをCaliforniaで出発の前から捕らえ、今までとは一味違ったDVDとなる事間違いなしです。ちょっとだけですが観てください。いい感じですよ。

I will send the message from USA participant of the "16th Annual YOKOHAMA HOT ROD Custom Show 2007" on Sunday December 2nd. It is already less than two months away. As always the what we will do in the Show is still not fixed.

Last week prior to the show, we went to California and did cover on all participant With "Cruisin' Magazine" Japan chief editor. The cover will be on Cruisin' Magazine out on October 26th but before that I like to send the short demonstration reel for Show DVD which we made this time.

This year's Show DVD will be taken by the Garage Production who made last years Xmas Party hosted by MOONEYES USA in California and this year we are taking before the participant leave to Japan, so DVD content will be different from past. It's just a little bit but please check it out, it looks good.

The 3rd Crown Party

先週、トヨタ博物館に行ったのも、MAX's Yardにお邪魔したのも、実は"The 3rd Crown Party"という1967年から70年までの3代目クラウン MS50系のMeetingがトヨタ博物館の駐車場で、MS50 クラウン・オーナーズ・クラブの主催で開催されたからです。

朝、Crown Pick Up 1-JZ換装の高速有鉛号と一緒に走りましたが、この車、速い事を良い事に、友人の黄色のノーマル ピックアップをぶっちぎり、飛ばす、飛ばす。


とうとう最後まで高速有鉛号の前に出る事が出来なかった為、残念ながら後方からの画像しか撮れませんでした。


決して綺麗ではありませんが、このピックを見たら要注意です。君はこの角度からしかこの車を見れないかもしれませんよ。


当日は雨は激しく降ったり、やんだりと不安定な天候にも関わらず、30台近いMS50系が集まったのでした。会場は名古屋ですから東京からでも結構距離があり、40年近く前の車には厳しい距離、しかも悪天候と参加者のガッツを感じたイベントでした。



久しぶりにDr. 前原のクラウンワゴンも見ることが出来ました。Dr.も車もお元気そうでなによりです。今度は10月28日（日） Crown Picnicで集まりましょう！その前に、9月30日（日）はALL ODDS Nationalsをお台場で開催します！



"The 3rd Crown Party"
Last week I went to TOYOTA Museum and Max's yard because I was there to "The Third Generation Toyota Crown Party" was hosted for 1967 to 1970 Third Model TOYOTA Crown by MS50's Owners Club at parking lot of TOYOTA Museum. In the morning cruised with 1-JZ swapped 1970 TOYOTA Crown pick up owned by "KOUSOKU-YUEN" magazine was fast and left original drive train yellow TOYOTA Crown Pick Up owned by friend behind and never had chance to take a picture from front so there is only rear view picture. This is not clean one but be careful when you see this one. You may not be able to see other angle of this car.

It was raining on and off with unstable weather but 30 MS50 series TOYOTA Crown had gathered. The event was held in central Japan Nagoya so it was far from east side Tokyo to drive the 40 years old cars but in bad weather the owner showed there will to join the event. I saw Dr. Maehara's Crown Stationwagon which I haven't seen for while and grad to see that car and Dr. were looking well. Next see you all at Crown Picnic on Sunday October 28th. Super Weekend 長野

長野市の元オリンピック施設 M-Waveで開催された、Flat Head主催のSuper Weekendに行ってきました。（敬称略）


30年位前は電車でも4時間、車だったら6-7時間位は掛かったでしょうか。昔、クラウンでスキーに行った時、スピンして雪の壁にぶつかったのを覚えています。今は東京駅から長野まで新幹線で2時間、車だと4時間位。近くなりました。

さて何十年振りかの長野です。多分30年以上かな？その長野でインドア カーショーが開催されたのは昨年、今年で2回目です。

"Super Weekend 2007"
I went to City of Nagano last weekend where car show called "Super Weekend 2007" was held by Flat Head at X-Winter Olympic facility called "M-Wave". I've never been in Nagano since when I was in University which is about 30 some years ago. I used to go there for skiing almost every winter, because ski was very popular back then like snowboard now. It took about 4 hours by train and 6 to 7 hours by car to get Nagano back then. Narrow one lane road always up to Nagano, it's almost impossible to pass the car ahead of you. It was long, long and slow move traffic. I still remember that I took my 1970 Toyota Crown and crash into snow wall. Now, it only takes 2 hours by bullet train and about 4 hours on highway by car.

It was 2nd Annual Show this year and it is very interesting to having car show in this area. Because there is no big car show in Nagano before this show was held in 2006. Show Cars, Motorcycles, Bands, Raffles, a lots vendor booths and awards, it was great show. Thanks to Flat Head! Hope, we can see you again at Nagano in 2008!

Summer is over?

先週の日曜日は北海道のSCN、今年で17回にもなるのです。関東の暑さ＆湿気と比べると北海道の涼しさはなんとも心地良いのですが、現地の方々は口々に「今日は暑い」と言ってたのが印象的でした。北海道もフィンランドと同様、夏は車・バイクで走り回り、冬にゆっくりカスタムするのでしょう。どうも暑さ寒さにメリハリの無い地域では毎日が同じテンポなので、そういった変化が無い事が逆にカスタムした車やバイクに乗る感動が薄れてしまうのかもしれません。

さて、ショーは快晴の下、遊園地の立地を最大限に利用し、あちらこちらにショーカーが展示され、一周するのは大変ですが周回遊覧バスがあるのでそちらを利用し、意外と楽に見れました。と言っても乗りっぱなしだったのですが。

Long Distance、God Bless賞、Best of The Showを受賞したのは愛知県から参加の佐々木さんのリンカーン ゼファーで、Low Rider Car ClubのEsmeralda Car ClubはCar Club賞、MOONEYES賞は三上さんの2007年 トヨタ カローラ フィールダー Woodyとなりました。



Swap Meetでは「車のぬいぐるみ」を作るRocket Craftが出店。どうです、実写とぬいぐるみの比較は？こんな器用な事ができて凄いですね。なかなか忠実な仕上がりだと思います。来年は避暑を兼ねて北海道SCNに参加しましょう！

北海道から戻り、MOONEYES Area-1にいると、Canada人のご夫婦でMr. & Mrs. Weldonが「日本に行ったら絶対、MOONEYESに行かなくてはいけなかった」と東京から電車とタクシーを乗り継いでわざわざ尋ねて来てくれました。



聞けば彼はBonneville Racerとの事。彼の車は#261 Watson & Welden "Swap Meet Roadster"というRace Carだそうで、今年のBonnevilleでChicoと会ったと言っていました。最近外国からお客様が本当に多くなりました。嬉しいです。



すると翌日にはMOONEYES Fanが愛車のハイエースにWildmanのピンスライプを入れに御来店。丸一日　お子さんと遊んで行かれました。何と昼食・夜食共、MOON Cafeをご利用頂きました。ありがとうございました。夏休みも今週末で終わりですね。夏休み最後のイベントは「MOONEYES Area-1 Junk Fair」。明日2日(日)に開催します。僕は土日、長野で開催されるSuper Weekend 2007に参加してきます。

"Summer is over?"
Last Sunday was Street Car Nationals in Hokkaido(North end Japan), this year is 17th year. It was cool and nice, less humid in Hokkaido compared to east side near Yokohama but how many local people were saying "Its hot today" was impressive. Hokkaido is just like in Finland too, people ride a motorcycle and drive a car around in summer and work on custom in winter. May be in place with no temperature difference in season and same tempo everyday may loose its impressive feeling of riding a motorcycle and driving a car.

Now under the sunny blue sky the Show was hosted in the amusement park premises using all the spaces which spread out and long walk to look around but using the bus going around the park was easy to look around. But actually was on the bus all the time.

Long distance, God Bless(Hi Performance shop) award, Best of the Show was given to the Lincoln Zephyr owner Mr. SASAKI from Aichi prefecture central part Japan, Low Rider Car Club "Esmeralda Car Club" took Car Club award, MOONEYES Award went to TOYOTA Corolla Fielder Woody owner MR. MIKAMI and more award were given to.

Swap Meet had "stuffed doll of your car" made by "Rocket Craft" was out there, how about this one compare doll with picture, amazing hand craft, very true to details. Next year lets go and entry to Hokkaido SCN, getting away from the hot summer heat.

Back from Hokkaido at MOONEYES Area-1, Canadian couple Mr. & Mrs. Weldon were visiting us by taking train and taxi, saying "Must go to MOONEYES when we are in Japan". Found out he was a Bonneville racer and his car was #261 Watson& Weldon "Swap Meet Roadster" Race Car and met Chico at this years Bonneville. I promise them to see you again at 2008 Bonneville. Recently many visitors from abroad has increased. I am happy for that.

Then on the next day one of MOONEYES Fan has visited Area-1 whole day with his sons to have Wildman's Pinstripe on his TOYOTA HIACE. They had Lunch and Dinner at MOON Cafe. Thank you very much!

The summer Holiday will end on this weekend. The last event of summer holiday. There is blow out sale Called "Junk Fair" at MOONEYES Area-1 on Sunday September 2nd and MOONEYES will attend Super Weekend 2007 at Nagano on Saturday and Sunday, so I will be there.

第16回 ヨコハマ ホットロッド・カスタムショー 2007

12月2日(日)に開催される第16回 ヨコハマ ホットロッド・カスタムショー 2007(HCS)の内容がおおよそ決まりました。


USAからKennedy Brothers製作の32年 Devile Deuce。


Classic Trucks Magazine編集長であり、HCSの開催にいつも多大な協力をしてくれているRob Fortieの愛車で、Cole Foster制作のChopped 53 Chevy。



南カリフォルニアのバイクシーンに新たなシーンを作り、East LAにShopを構えるSuperco CustomsのTrevelen。
Super Co. Customs Trevelen's KIWI Indian "CRAZY HORSE"は、諸事情により展示不可能となりました。ご了承下さい。

関西弁が冴えまくり、USAのTV等で大変人気のあるChica Custom CyclesのChica。


Cole Fosterも彼の最新作「MOON Rocket」を持ち込み、


2年前に来日したKutty。

3回目の来日となるJeff Decker、そしてChoppertown DVDの中で主人公的役柄のRico、Danny Takahashi君も遊びに来るそうですから、Sinnersの中心的メンバーがヨコハマに集合って感じになるようです。



アーテイストではLine Dr.、Keith Weesner、Pizz、Harpoon、Dan Colins（？）、アルミ職人のRon Covel、AustraliaからTikiのカービングをするTiki Beat-Marcosも参加します。Trophy QueenやDicE Magazineも来ますし、ヨーロッパからはWild Motorcyclesも来日予定です。今の段階では以上ですが、日が経つにつれ話がどんどん膨れていくので、10月くらいまではハッキリした内容が確定できないのが毎年の事なのです。世界からナゼか注目される日本のショー、今年もきっと楽しくなるでしょう。HCS情報はMOONEYES WebsiteでUpされますのでマメにチェックして下さい。

The 16th Annual Yokohama HOTROD CUSTOM SHOW 2007(HCS) will be hosted on Sunday December 2nd and almost all contents has been fixed.

From USA, 1932 "Devil Deuce" build by Kennedy Brothers, "Chopped 53 Chevy" chopped by Cole Foster, owned by Rob Fortier the "Classic Trucks Magazine" chief editor and always been great help to host the HCS.

The Trevelen from Superco Customs. who has shop in East L.A., and Making new Scene in the Southern California Motorcycle scene. Chica from Chica Custom Cycles with dry West Japan accent and popular from the TV program in USA.

Cole Foster will bring his brand new bike called "MOON Rocket", Kutty who was here 2 years ago, Third time for Jeff Decker, first time for Rico who is one of main feature from the Choppertown DVD, Danny Takahashi will be here too, so all core members of "Sinners" will meet up in Yokohama.

Artists are Line Dr., Keith Weesner, Pizz, Harpoon, Dan Colins(?), Aluminum craft man Ron Covel, Tiki Beat - Marcos for Tiki Carving will be here from Australia. Trophy Queen and DicE Magazine will be here too. Wild Motorcycles from Europe will be here too.

That's all for now, but usually gets increased as the day goes by, so we can not say for sure until October. For some reason this show in Japan is getting a lot of attention from all over the world. トヨタ プリウス ドライブ インプレッション

先週末は仙台ハイランドで開催されたPRA主催のET Drag Raceのお手伝いにプリウスで行ってきました。プリウスがどんな感じなのか知りたかったので、仙台往復はちょうどいい距離でした。土曜日の朝、都内に住む友人を迎えに友人宅へ行ったついでに、純日本的玄関前で一枚、いい感じです。





首都高で都心を抜け、東北道の蓮田でArea-1から来たスタッフと合流、一路仙台を目指しました。モーター プラス 1,500ccのエンジンで2,000cc並みのパワーを出すと言われているプリウスは、高速道路でも楽チン クルジーングが可能。追い越しも全然問題ありません。同じ1,500ccのカローラは高速ではエンジン音は煩いし、スピードは遅いし大変でしたがプリウスはいいです。



モニターで走行中の燃費を見ることが出来ますが、これを見ちゃうとアクセルから自然と足が離れてしまいます。このモニターも燃費向上に役立っています。同行の積載車もターボ付きになったので、スピードが以前の積載車より20-30キロは早く走れたという事もあり、今回は11時前には仙台ハイランドのレース場に到着してしまいました。

レース場にはOne Low RacingのSuper Street VW T-1 Race Carもすでにピット内でエンジン調整などの準備をやっていました。


Super Shot Teamも出来立ての67 Camaroを持込み、こちらもまた準備に余念がありません。


実はMOONEYESも63 VW T-1にライロックを装着し、Drag Slickタイヤを履き、日曜日のET Dragに参加するので土曜日はBurn Outの練習です。「ブレーキを腰が浮くくらい強く踏んでラインロックのボタンを押したら、ブレーキから足を離し、クラッチを切って、アクセルをこれまた腰が浮くくらい（大げさ）で床まで踏み込んだら、クラッチから足をガーンと離すんだよ」ってドライバーのアイちゃんに指導するOne Lowのマサシ君。

でもエンジン音はハイRPMでガーと言っているのにタイヤが廻りません。「アイちゃんクラッチまだ踏んでんの？！」なんて事を何回かやっているうちに遂にBurn Out成功！どうですこの勇姿！この写真が撮りたいが為にはるばる仙台までやってきたのです。来たかいがありました。

そうだ！せっかくプリウスで来ているのだからプリウスで1/4マイルを走ってみようという事になり、ヘルメットを被り、グローブをして、いざステージイン。



いつものように3つ目の黄色のランプが消えたらアクセルを踏む。「あれ？！」手順はいつもと変わらないのですが、アクセルを踏んでもドーンとは走り出さず、スーっとスタート。その後も右足は床までアクセルを踏んだまま、クルマはどんどん加速し結構いい感じの加速感。「早いな」って感じでゴール！



結果は18秒23。ところがリアクションタイムは1.082とすこぶる悪い。僕のリアクションタイムはコンマ5秒台なのですが、同じようにスタートしても実際にクルマが動き出すのにガソリンエンジン車よりかコンマ5秒位遅くなっているので、次からは2つ目のライトが消えたらアクセルとドンと踏めばちょうどいい感じのリアクションタイムが取れるのかもしれません。

それはともかく、18.23秒、121km/hがこの時の記録でした。まさにEco Rod！意外と速かったので感動しました。電気モーターだけでも挑戦してみましたが、思いっきりアクセルを踏むと自然とエンジンに入れ替わるようで、タイムは変わりませんでした。

日曜日は早朝は日差しも見えたのに8時過ぎには小雨となり、その後一時的に激しい雨となってレースは中止。One LowのRace CarもアイちゃんのBurn Outも　晴れ姿を見せる事ができず、解散。一路横浜を目指しました。帰路、前も見えないほどの豪雨。50キロのスピード規制が出るなど悪条件でしたが、無事夕方には横浜に戻れました。



今回の走行距離はおおよそ900キロ、燃費はリッター約18キロ位でした。その中には3回、1/4マイルをフルスロットルで走ったのも含まれていますから、決して悪い数字ではないと思います。モーターとエンジンをうまく使い分けられる一般道のほうが燃費は良いのかもしれませんね。

Toyota Prius Drive Impression
Last weekend, I went to the Sendai Highland in Northern Japan for helping PRA hosted ET DRAG RACE by TOYOTA Prius. It was good distance to get to know the Prius. I went to pick up my friend in Tokyo so I took picture in front of traditional Japanese house gate, nice.

I went through central Tokyo on high way and meet up with staff from Area-1 at TOHOKUDO highway and headed to Sendai. Prius is described to have power like 123ci engine with electric motor plus 92ci engine and its powerful enough to cruise on highway and feel no stress to over take cars. Carolla had same 92ci size engine and it was too revved up on highway and noisy and slow, Prius is far more comfortable.

The monitor can tell the fuel consumption, but it makes my foot to take off from gas pedals. This monitor helps to save gas too. The our transporter has changed to new one with turbo in it and it is about 20miles faster than old one we had, so we were in Sendai Highland race way before 11am.

The One Low Racing and its Super Street VW T-1 Race Car was already in pit and adjusting engine. Super Shot Team had just finished 67 Camaro too.

MOONEYES VW T-1 has new line lock on and Drag slick on to run ET Race on Sunday, and Saturday was practice day for burn out. "Step on brake as if your waist will lift and press line lock button and release foot from brake and step on clutch, step on gas to the floor and release foot away from clutch." Masashi of One Low was explaining to driver Ai-chan. But the tires are not spinning even though the engine is running in High rev. "Ai-chan are you still stepping on clutch?" And it went on for couple times and finally nice burn out! Yes this was the scene I wanted to take pictures and for coming all the way to Sendai. It was worth the trip to Sendai.

I have an idea, lets take Prius for 1/4 mile! I got gloves and helmet on and staged in, like every time, step on gas when the 3rd yellow lamp went off, "What?" the procedure was same but the Prius doesn't shoot out even though I am stepping to floor and it starts out in smooth ride accelerating as it goes, feels pretty fast and good. Result is 18.23seconds, but reaction time was bad as 1.082, my reaction time Is around 0.5sec but the car takes 0.5sec more than gas car to start, so next time reaction time may get better if I step on gas after 2nd light went off.

Anyway the time was 18.23sec and top speed was 75miles/hr (121km/hr) Truly Eco Rod! Very impressive as it was faster than expected.

The Race on Sunday was sunny in early morning but it started to rain after 8am and rained harder after that and Race was called off, One Low Race and Ai-chan's burn out were not able to show its debut and went back home. On the way home, in some places it rained so hard that nothing in front was able to see and 31miles/hr (50km/hr) speed limit was made. We made it safely back to Yokohama in late afternoon.

This trip was about 560 miles(900km), fuel consumption was about 42miles per gallon(18km per liter). The 3 run on full throttle on 1/4 miles are included in that so I guess its not that bad. May be better consumption on street where electric motor and engine can be shared.

29日 日曜日は仙台へGo！

（敬称略）
明日は仙台でPRAが主催するET Drag Raceです。PRAのシリーズ戦ではないのでUSA車、VW等いろいろな車が集まる予定です。しかも今回はET Race。今まではただ走りたい放題でしたが、今回はちゃんとレース形式になるので、一回戦で負けたらもう走れません。それも寂しいですが、レースとなると緊張感があって、より凄いタイムが出るかもしれませんね。



One Low/MOONEYES Racing Tシャツ

MOONEYESはVWのチューニングではダントツのOne LowとTeamを組み、ET Raceに参戦します。VW Turboで参戦していたMOON Bugが長いことお休み状態なのと、MOONEYESのグロリア グローリーロッドもリタイアして久しく、Drag RaceでMOONEYES Carが走っていないのも何となく寂しいので今回、One Lowに相乗りさせて貰う事にしました。





VW Super Street Race CarがMOONEYESに運び込まれたのは7月18日(水）、WildmanがUSA出張より戻った翌日です。USAではDeuce Coupeを仕上げ、日本に戻ったとたんにVWです。Wildmanは忙しい！Wildmanの凄いところは時間が計れる事です。これだけの仕事をちゃんと約束の日までに仕上げてしまいました。




どうです、ちょっと70ｓのようなテイストのVWがDrag Stripを走るのです。Hoodの上には勿論大きなEyeball。皆さん今週末は仙台でこのVWを見ましょう。仙台で会いましょう！僕はプリウスで行きます！

Tomorrow ET Drag Race is hosted at Sendai , Japan by PRA. It is not official PRA series race so American cars, VWs and various cars will gather for the race. And This time its ET Race so if you loosen on first run you can't run again unlike you can run as much as you like before. That's kind of sad but may be gets serious and great time may be achieved.

For that ET Race MOONEYES will Team up with One Low who is famous for Air Cooled VW hi-performance motor. VW Turbo's MOON Bug has been taking days off for long time and since MOONEYES's Chevy Powered NISSAN Gloria "Glory Rod" has retired from the strip and since it looks sad without MOONEYES car not running on the strip so this time we are on with One Low for Drag Race.

VW Super Street Race Car has been brought to MOONEYES on Wednesday 18th July 2007, It was next day Wildman returned from USA trip. He finished off Deuce Coupe in USA and as soon as he was back in Japan he had to work on VW! Wildman is busy! Wildman is great that he can read time. He finished all this work on time.

How is it？We got little bit of 70's taste and this VW will run on Drag Strip. Of course we have big Eyeball on the hood, so please every one lets meet up in Sendai and watch this VW run! I will be going on Toyota Prius to Sendai!

ストリート ロッド ナショナルズ

青空の下、横浜港をバックに最高の環境で開催される予定だった(少なくとも前日までは皆そう思っていました）、3rd Annual Street Rod Nationals（SRN）。開催当日の天気は曇り、しかもやや肌寒い天気となってしまいました。

OSCA Ocean Side Cruising Association：横浜ベイエリアを拠点とするCar Club。実はまだ僕もメンバーのはず？

それでも遠くは愛知県からの参加もあり、35台のRodderが横浜に集まり、なかなか見応えあるイベントとなりました。12時頃には雨がパラパラと降り始め、まず雨に弱いWoody 2台が早々に退場し、雨脚が強くなるに従い屋根の無いRoadsterが動き出し、最後に屋根付きとなり、最後のDeuce 3 Windowを見送ったのが2時過ぎでした。
年式限定のイベントですが、来年も開催したいと思います。参加可能なクルマをお持ちの方、是非参加してください。



Under the blue sky with Yokohama Port in behind the 3rd Annual "Street Rod Nationals" with best location and weather was what everyone expected until day before but on the day the weather was cloudy and even little cold.

Even than people as far as Aichi prefecture, central Japan has came to join and 35 Rodders gathered in Yokohama, this show was worth looking at. In Noon, it started to rain and the most weak ones against rain the two Deuce Woody were the first ones to leave to escape the rain. Then as the rain hit harder, the topless roadsters left to escape the rain next and last one was with tops, seeing the last Deuce 3 Window to leave the show space was after 2pm.

It is an event with limited year of make but I like to host it again next year. Please join the show if you have cars entitled to entry. Thank you!

第11回 Hot Stuff主催 鈴鹿ストリートカーナショナルズ

先週日曜日はHot Stuff主催 第11回ストリートカーナショナルズ（SCN）でした。MOONEYESのSCNは今年で21回目、北海道のSCNは第11回目です。昔は大阪SCNや九州SCNもありましたが、残念ながら今はありません。Truck Mastersは横浜のMr. Blue率いるBlue Panicが全国で開催していますが、SCNはそれぞれの地域のMOONEYES Dealerｓが主催で開催されています。 あ！明日はTruck Masters 北海道です！近郊の方、是非 岩見沢へお出かけ下さい。

今年の鈴鹿SCNはエントリー台数 なんと700台オーバー！また、エントリー車の内容が大変濃い素晴らしいイベントでした。今回はその素晴らしいイベントにエントリーしていた日本車を紹介します。そしてMOONEYESアワードに輝いたのは、Speed Shop Fix製作のRBモーター換装、オーナー河尻さんの1968 グロリアバンでした。ストレートなBody、綺麗な内装、そしてエンジン換装、クルマは綺麗でなくては、っていうお手本のようなグロリアです。やはりクルマは光っているのが一番ですね！

今日はカナダからPoor Boys Car Club, CanadaのMr. Craman Hetherington氏が電車・バスを乗り継いで来店してくださいました。


The 11th Hot Stuff host Suzuka Street Car Nationals
Last Sunday was the Hot Stuff hosted the 11th Suzuka Street Car Nationals(SCN). MOONEYES SCN was 21st time this year and Hokkaido SCN was 11th time this year. There used to be Osaka SCN and Kyushu SCN, before but too bad they don't have them anymore. Truck Masters is hosted across Japan by Blue Panic lead by Mr. Blue but SCN is hosted by local MOONEYES Dealer. Tomorrow is Truck Masters in Hokkaido North side. For people close by please join at Iwamizawa.

This years Suzuka SCN had 700 over Show car entry, and content of entry cars were great. I want to introduce the Domestic cars which had entry to the show. The MOONEYES Award went to Speed Shop Fix made RB motor swapped 1968 Gloria Van owned by Mr. kawajiri. This Gloria has straight body, beautiful interior, swapped motor. This Gloria is like text to show how cars should be clean. Always cars are best when they are shiny and beautiful.

Today Mr. Craman Hetherington of Poor Boys Car Club, Canada has visited us from Canada using train and bus to the MOONEYES Area-1!

クラウン そして Mr. ブルー

前回のブログでお話しましたが、1970 MS50 Crown Sedanと1970 RS56 Crown Pick UpでSCN鈴鹿に行って来ました。まったく調子が良い！トラブルなし！絶好調でした。



「古いエンジンが好きなのではなかったのですか？」とか「エンジン交換してしまったら、味が無くなるのではありませんか？」とか会場で色々質問を受けましたが、古いエンジンも好きですし、今でも充分クラウンの味はあります。僕はもう30年以上もM型モーターやR型に乗っているのです。30年です。もう充分どちらのモーターも楽しみました。でもクラウンをもっと楽しみたいので、エンジンを換装したのです。クラウンの昔の広告で「いつかはクラウン」ってありましたが、「いつでもクラウン」になる為にです。もしそのままのエンジンだったら「たまにはクラウン」で、毎日乗りたくはありません。末永く乗り続ける為にはダッシュ等に余計な物を付けてしまわない事です。そして「いつまでもクラウン」でいる為に　内装や外装はオリジナルを保つのが一番です。


Mr. Blue

今回の鈴鹿へは横浜 戸塚最大の自動車センター＆トラックマスターズの主催者、ブルーパニックのMr. ブルーこと金子社長が同乗。ピックアップの走行写真等を撮りたかったので運転を交代してもらったり大変助かりました。
鈴鹿周辺のホテルに無事到着し、全員でチェックイン手続きをしているといきなりMr. ブルー、「さっきまであったハンズフリーのイヤーフォンが無い！」と騒ぎ出し、駐車場からクルマの中まで調べてもどこにもありません。本人は「100円ショップで買える」とかいいながら意外と往生際が悪い。がその晩は諦めたようでした。
翌朝、「イヤーフォンどうした？」って尋ねると、Mr. ブルーは恥ずかしそうに「ありました」。「どこに？」と聞いたらなんと自分の靴の靴紐にくっ付いていた！というではありませんか。靴を脱ごうと靴紐を解こうとしても解けないので良く見たらイヤーフォンが靴紐に絡まっていたというのです。本当ですかね。

まぁ、これだけでは信じられないでしょうからもう一つ。これを読めば、イヤーフォンの件もあってもおかしくないと思います。ある晩、MOON Cafeに来店したMr. ブルー、2人で話しているうちにMr. ブルーの歯が抜けている事を発見。「Mr. ブルー、歯が抜けているよ」と教えると「運転中は確かにあった」と言うので、駐車場とか歩いた後を探してみたがその時は見つけられませんでした。食事も終わりMr. ブルーがクルマに乗り込む瞬間、シートベルトに歯がはさまっているのを発見！普通の人はシートベルトに歯をはさみませんよね、だからイヤーフォンが靴紐に絡まっても、Mr. ブルーの場合、何も不思議な事ではないのです。だから僕は彼を尊敬の念を持って「Mr. Blue」と呼んでいます（その時彼はブリッジの歯を付けていました）。

CrownとMr. Blueの話でした。

As I have mentioned in last Blog, went to Street Car Nationals in Suzuka, Central Japan with 1970 TOYOTA MS50 Crown Sedan and 1970 TOYOTA RS56 Crown Pick Up. Very Good condition and non trouble excellent ride.

"Didn't you like the old engine?" or "Its not same ride with different newer engine?" there were many questions asked in event place but I like old engine and still it is same ride of Crown style. I have been driving "M" and "R" engines for more than thirty years now. I think I have enough enjoyed both engine. But I still like to enjoy Crown so I swapped engine. The old advertisement of Crown said "Someday Crown" and to be able to say "Any day Crown". If I had old engine it will be "sometime Crown" and do not want to drive everyday. To drive it for almost forever, it is best not to add anything to dash and surrounding. Also its best to keep the original interior and exterior to "Forever Crown".

This time to Suzuka, Yokohama's largest second hand truck center and world famous Truck Masters event host "Blue Panic" president Mr. Kaneko as known Mr. Blue was on same ride, I wanted to take pictures of Pick up driving and he was great help driving while I was taking pictures. Then when we reached hotel in Suzuka while everyone was checking in, all sudden Mr. Blue has started to panic saying "I have lost the ear phone!" It's a hands free for cell phone. And searched inside car and parking lot but it was not found. He said he bought it at 99 cents shop but didn't seem to let go. And he gave up that night. Next morning I asked, "what happened to the ear phone?", He said "I found it" with little brushed. Asked him where and he said it was tangled in his shoe lace. He couldn't get shoe off as lace was tangled but it was ear phone tangled, now is that true? Its ify and may be if I tell another story people may believe this things can happen to Mr. Blue.

One night Mr. Blue came to MOON Cafe, while we were talking I noticed his side tooth was missing, "Mr. Blue, you are missing a tooth.". I told him and he says "It was there while I was driving!". So he walked back to parking lot to look for his tooth but wasn't able to find. Then after eating dinner, Mr. Blue got on the car and just then, a missing tooth was found, it was stacked to his seat belt. The ordinary people will not have tooth tangled to seat belt so for Mr. Blue its no surprise to find ear phone tangled to shoe laces. That's why I have decided to call him Mr. Blue with very respect(he had bridged tooth).

It was story about Crown and Mr. Blue.

2台目のハーレー

日曜日に開催されたMotorcycle "Show & Swap Meet"、晴天にも恵まれ、大変な盛り上がりとなりました。

そしてこのイベントは一年間で唯一、僕がバイクで長距離を走るイベントでもあります。



当初予定していた東京お台場での開催が、ギリギリになって会場側の都合で借りれなくなり、急遽 場所を川崎東扇島に変更。こちらも突然の変更に対応して下さった方々に感謝でした。昨年は雨だったのでバイクより車での来場が多かったのですが、今回はバイクでの来場が大変多く、1,000台は楽に超えていたと思います。会場周辺で沢山の人にご挨拶しましたが、皆Nice Guy、感じが良くナイスな人達が大変多く、バイカーって「感じいいな～」って思っちゃいました。ショーの模様は週末のMMM（ムーンアイズ メールマガジン）に大きく掲載しますので楽しみにしていてください。

以前に話しましたが「今度買うHDはセル付き」と思っていたのですが・・・。バイク屋さんから「いいのがありますよ」って紹介され、結局買ったのはショベルのリジット。何をやっているのでしょうか？


セルは付けれるそうですが、オープンプライマリーでMOON Chopper Tankを付けると云々となり、結局またセル無しとなってしまったのでした。


しかしMOONEYESには若いHD乗りのMasaがいます。彼は自分のHDとPan & Shovelの2台のエンジンを掛けるMOONEYES Official Starterとして活躍してくれているので、彼がいる時は始動に心配はありません。一つ心配なのはエンジンの掛かりが悪いとMan Power Starterが疲れて、しばらく充電が必要になる事です。

さて今回のShovel、フロント 21"、リア 16"、74 Springerを使い、なるべくCompactに作りました。Tankは3.5ガロン Genuine HD Fuel Tank、ハンドルは3"ライザー プラス 多少押さえが効きそうなハンドルバー、それに3" Peep Mirrorのステーを加工して取り付けています。Pegもいい感じのが見つかりました。

とかく目に付く配線関係はステンレスのワイヤーカバーにまとめたので見た目もすっきりし、ワイヤーの保護にもなります。

ウィンカーは小ぶりのRod Liteを使用しましたが、残念ながら小さすぎて視認性が悪いのでもう少し大きい物と交換予定です。

シートはBull Original製 MOON Equipped Original タック＆ロール ソロシート。シートの後ろがちょっと上がっているのでお尻が滑らず、ハンドルにしがみ付かなくても余裕で発進・加速ができます。

PaintはHouse of ColorのCandy Paint "Gold"、初めはラメペイントとも思いましたがFuel Tankが大きいので今回はCandyにして正解でした。


沢山のバイクを見ても比較的マフラーパイプに変化が無く、一番目立つパーツでもあるのでこれをメッキ加工し、サイレンサーを入れて使ってみると、Fuel Tankのペイントとクローム類がマッチしなんとカッコイイ！Hot Rodパーツが満載のBanana Goldの完成です。

簡単に乗れるように作っていた筈が仕上がってみると何時の間にかショーバイクに近くなってしまいましたが、車もバイクも綺麗なのが一番、特に齢も取ってきて見た目では若者に劣るのでせめて乗り物くらいは綺麗にしておきたいですね。このバイクを隅々まで色々やってくれたのが横浜のIM Factory。無理難題を笑顔でやってくれる、ナイスなオーナーがやっているお店です。

ショー翌日の月曜日、わざわざMOON Cafeに寄ってくれた名古屋から来てくれたViSEの皆さん、MOON Cafe 定休日ですみませんでした！またのお越しをお待ちしています。


The Motorcycle "Show & Swap Meet", weather was fine and it was a big turn out. It is also the once in a year time which I ride for long distance.

It was supposed to be held at Odaiba, Tokyo but all sudden the renting deal was turned down in short notice, so we had to changed to Higashi Ougijima, Kawasaki in short time which we like to Thank all people supported us. Last years show was rained on so more people came on cars to see the show than bikes. But this year people came to see the on bike and easily over thousand bikes came to see the show. I met many people at the show and they were all nice guy, very nice people to meet. The show will be reported on this weekends MMM (MOONEYES MAIL MAGAZINE) so please enjoy.

I have mentioned before that "My next HD will be with starter motor". But bike shop introduced me there was a good one and bought Rigid Shovel. What am I doing? Starter motor can be put on but with open primary and MOON Chopper Tank, it was no way to go with. But in MOONEYES, young HD rider Masa is here. He is a "MOONEYES Official Starter" working to start his HD, My Pan and Shovel. I have no worries when he is there to start. One thing worried about is when HD don't start up and Man Power Starter gets tired and needs charging for a while.

Now this Shovel , has 21" on Front, 16" on Rear with 74 Springer and made as compact as possible. Tank is 3.5 Gallon Genuine HD Fuel Tank, 3" raiser plus Handle bar which has little down force, also 3" Peep Mirror from automobile with new custom made bracket. Found new Peg that looks good too. The wires that catches eye are all covered in stainless steel wire cover so it looks less clouded and keeps clean and guard them. Turn signals are too small and cannot be seen so I will change these small Rod Lite to bigger ones. MOON Direct Oil Pressure Gauge, Air Cleaner is also for cars with small carb with new bracket, Tail Lamp is '36 Ford Tail Lamp, Ruby Red Fuel Line and Plug Wires are making appeal.

Seat is MOON Equipped Original Tack & Roll Solo Seat by Bull Original. This seat has curved swing up rear end which gives great hold in start and accelerations with out grabbing on to the handle bars. Paint is House of Colors Candy Paint "Gold", Thought of "Metal Flake" paint in first place but as the fuel tank is big, it was right this time with Candy Paint.

Looking at many bikes and exhaust pipe is same compared to the other parts, but at same exhaust pipes stands out most so this convoluted pipe was chromed and silencer was placed in and it turned out good with fuel tank paint and chrome matches cool. "Banana Gold" complete with full of Hot Rod parts. I have made MOON Custom Cycle Shop Stickers. T-shirts are available too.

I thought I will make easy one to ride but turned out to be almost show bike clean car and bikes are best, got old and looks are not offend able against the young ones so at least I want to keep the rides clean, untouchable. The IM Factory of Yokohama has done all kind of work on this HD, shop with nice owner Who Help us solve the hard task with smile.

By the way on Monday next day of the show, The crew of "ViSE" from Central Japan Nagoya has came to eat at MOON Cafe, but sorry the MOON Cafe was closed on every Mondays. Please visit again! Thank you!

NHOM

真っ青な空、綺麗な緑、野鳥のさえずり。そんなすばらしい環境で開催された"ナカヨシ Hot Old's Meet"に行ってきました。

天気は快晴。Mt. Fujiもキレイです。

途中でVannuysグループと合流。会場へ向かいます。

事前エントリーでは無く、当日エントリーのみの受付でカーショー500台、スワップミート100件で会場へのエントリーはストップ、主催者の方が放送で「僕ら、広々とやりたいので制限台数で入場をストップしました」と言っていました。なんとも耳が痛い話でしたが、さすがおっしゃる通りゆっくりしたスペースで一日を過ごす事ができました。


高速有鉛の影響もあるのか、国産旧車はパワーがあり、年式を問わず多くのクルマが参加していました。その中でやはり気になったのはクラウン、それも丸テールのセダンとバンです。メッキがビシッ！としているとクルマは生き返りますね。

メッキがビシッとしているといいですね。



本当は国産旧車も好きなんです。

僕は出来上がったばかりのMS50で、その他、縦目グロリアと左ハンドルのRS56ピックアップの3台で参加。MS50は暖かくなってから初めての中距離ドライブだったのでエアコンを試すには絶好のチャンス、と帰り道はエアコンを効かせ、事故渋滞にも巻き込まれましたが問題無く横浜に戻れました。

久しぶりにノンビリとしたイベントに参加出来、リフレッシュした感じです。スタッフの皆様、色々ありがとうございました。

The great blue sky, beautiful green, the birds singing, In this excellent location the NAKAYOSHI Hot Old's Meet (NHOM) was hosted. There are no pre entry and every one was to entry on the show day. 500 Show Cars and 100 Swap Meet was last call for show space, The host has announced that they wanted to make this event in good space not to be jammed so they closed entry after the capacity was filled. Its very harsh thing at same time but as they said so, the show space was big and enough to spend one day in comfortable space.

Guess the free paper "Kousoku Yuen" has made effect as the Domestic Old Cars showed strong in various years of make. Most cars I had my attention on as 1964 Toyota Crown, the Round Tail Lens Sedan and Van. The good chromes on the car makes its life back.

I went on 1970 Toyota Crown MS50 sedan which was just finished and other "Vertical head lights" Nissan Gloria Sedan plus 1969 Toyota Crown RS56 Pick up with left handle drive went in three. It was first medium distance for MS50 sedan after the weather got warm, It was a good chance to test the air conditioning, there were traffic on the way back due to car accident in TOUMEI KOUSOKU highway but made back safely to Yokohama.

It was good and refreshing to attend in this laid back event. Like to say thank you for every thing to the staff of this event.

名古屋のカスタムバイクショー

先週土曜日は名古屋金城埠頭で開催されたMotorcycleイベント「JOINTS」に行ってきました。ゴールデンウィークの渋滞を予想していたのでブース出展はせず、視察って感じでした。久々に暑いくらいの天気になったのでまさにバイク日和、バイカーは皆、気持ち良さそうでした。

僕は10月にかなり激しいケッチンダメージを受けて以来、HDにはまたがっていません。そのケッチンはとんでもなく強烈なケッチンで、今だにそのツケが残っているのです。次は絶対にセル付きを買います！そんな事はどうでもいいのですが、名古屋周辺はKustom Cityと呼ばれるくらい、クルマのカスタムが盛んな地域ですが、バイクも凄い盛り上がりでした。名古屋周辺は本当のKustom Citiesです。

僕はというと、会場オープンと同時に入場し、色々な方と話をしたり、Cruisin'ブースで油を売ったりで、あっという間に一日が終わってしまい、ランチを取るのも忘れていました。


特に国産車ベースのChopperは楽しいですね。クルマも国産車ベースのカスタムが楽しいです。どちらもナゼ楽しいかって言うと、HDやUSA車はUSAに沢山お手本がありますが、日本車・バイクの場合　何処にもお手本はないので「夢」がありますね。国産ベースのカスタムはお手本が無いだけに楽しいのです。


5月27日（日）は川崎 東扇島でMotorcycle "Show & Swap Meet"です。楽しみですね！Cruisin'誌の別冊、HD以外のChopperを集めた「Another World of Chopper」っていう本、もう読みましたか？国産ベースのChopperやTriumphなど、HD以外のバイクでもChopperが沢山あります。ChopperというとHDって感じですが、HD以外でもカッコイイのが沢山ありますから、Chopperに興味のある方是非どうぞ！

"Kustom Bike Show in Nagoya"
Last Saturday went to the Motorcycle event called "JOINTS" hosted at NAGOYA KINJYOU PIER at Nagoya, Central Japan. Golden Week was holiday famous for heavy traffic so we had planned not to bring out the booth and instead took bullet train to have a look around. It was fine hot weather so good day to go out for bikers who were looking all having great time.
I have not been on HD since I had foot damaged with kick pedal hit up my heel while cranking HD in October. That was hit by kick pedal swinging up and still that damage is still left. For next time I will buy one with starter motor, that's not so important anyway the Nagoya area is called the Kustom City for its active car Kustom area and bikes also showed strong Kustom scene. Nagoya area is showing strong as real Kustom Cities.

The famous builder of Paradise Road "Shimodaira" was also at show with his proud HD called "the Gray Suspicion". He is know as builder of "Rod"riguez and Galaxian.

I was in the event space as soon as the gate opened and talked to various people, spent some time in Cruisin' Magazine's booth and the day went so fast that I had forgot to take a lunch.

The chopper made out of Japanese bike are fun. The cars and bikes both fun to Kustom Japanese ones. Why fun is that the US cars and HD has many good example in USA but there are no sample for Japanese Domestics and only "Images!" are there to Fulfill. Kustom of Japanese domestic bases are fun as no example.

May 27th is the "Motorcycle Show & Swap Meet". Looking forward to it. Have you checked out the book called "Another World of Chopper" with choppers other than HD which is released as Cruisin' Magazine's special issue for choppers other than HD. Japanese Domestic base and Triumphs are cool choppers other than HD. There are many cool choppers on this one so please note.

君は見ましたか Datsun 320 Pick Upを

今年のMOONEYES Street Car Nationals(SCN)で久しぶりに笠井君（Deuce Factory Owner）らしいカスタムを見ました。6穴のDatsun 320 Pick UpにVW用 Speed Master Wheelを履いてしまったのです。

まず、Speed Master Wheelには6H（6穴）は用意されていません。VW用のSpeed Master Wheelを加工しようと彼は考えたのです。VW用は5H205という大変広いピッチです。それをEarly VW to 4H用ホイルのAdapterを使って装着していました。それは本来、5H205のVWに4Hとか5Hのホイルを履く為に使うのですが、彼はそれを逆さまに使い、5H205のホイルにAdapterを合わせ4H部分を加工し、6Hに変更し、無理矢理と言えば無理矢理ですが、Speed Master Wheelを装着してしまったのです。

それとET製ノックオフタイプのスピンナーも、スピンナータワーをホイル裏側にネジ留めした上にスピンナーをつけていますから、飛び出しすぎる事もなく丁度いい感じで装着されています。タイヤサイズは聞き忘れましたが、ホイルが15×6ですから多分ミシュランの165×15をリア、フロントは145×15でしょうか。このサイズのタイヤ、国産旧車に大変良くマッチします。最近、あまり見る事がなかった何が何でも取り付ける」という彼の執念を見た一台でした。どうしても付けたい物があったら何が何でも付けちゃう、それもカッコ良く。カスタムですねー。

先週お話したCrown SedanもPick Upも完成し、SCNに展示することが出来ました。が、Pickは最終仕上げの為にそのまま工場へとんぼ返り。しかしSedanはインテリアを除いてほぼCompleteです。Metalic Dark GrayのBodyにリクロームした部品がキラキラに輝き、ホイルのMag GrayもBodyに大変良くマッチしています。大人のSedanです。

SCNの前の晩、本牧から伊勢崎町を通り帰宅の途中、信号待ちしていると、スーっとメルセデスが隣に停車。「ん？」と思ったら運転席の窓がスーっと下がって「ドキ！」。すると同年代位のドライバーの方が「30年以上前のクルマですよね、綺麗ですね、大事に乗ってください」って声を掛けられました。Californiaではちょっと違う車に乗っていると信号のたびにうるさいくらい話しかけれますが、日本ではまずないですよね。メルセデスの窓が下がった時はちょっと驚きましたが、感じよく運転して帰れました。話しかけてきた方も同年代くらい、オッサンが気にするSedanです。

このサニートラックはカッコ良かったです。山形のDrop Kickさんはいい感じの車を作る、今時では珍しいお店です。

SCNでは何時も搬入口を某巨大トラック専門買取センターB/Pの金子社長、またの名をMr. Blueが助けてくれています。感謝です。今年はタイヤがバーストして金子社長遅刻してきました。苦し紛れに適当な事を言って！なんて思っていましたが帰りはベイブリッジ付近でまたバーストしたそうです。1日に2回ですよ、バースト2回もしますか？でも彼だったらあってもおかしくないです。Mr. Blue、何時もお手伝いありがとうございます。

"Did you see that Datsun 320 Pick Up"
In this years MOONEYES Street Car Nationals (SCN) I have seen custom by Mr. Kasai of Deuce Factory Japan owner with his style which I didn't see for a while. Datsun 320 Pick up with 6 lug hole pattern had VW Speed Master Wheels on.

The Speed Master Wheel doesn't have 6 lug holes. It was his idea to use the Speed Master Wheel for VWs. The Speed Master Wheel for VW has wide 205mm pitch 5 lug holes. He used Early VW to 4 lug adapter to fit. The adapter is originally used for VW with 5 lug hole 205 pitch car to Fit 4 lug holes or 5 lug holes wheels, but he used it other way around and Bolted adapter to 5 lug 205 pitch wheels and custom work was done to make 4 lug nut wheel hole to match 6lug hole and forced to fit the Speed Master Wheels on.

Also the ET manufactured knock off type spinner was also fitted. He bolted tower on from behind the wheels so spinners doesn't look too far out and looked just good I forgot to ask about tire size, front is 15X6 so I think its Michelin 165X15 on rear and front is 145X15. These tire sizes matches best to Japanese Classics. This car showed us his spirit of making things fit on cars which We haven't seen in while. Any parts that want to make it fit, will make it fit and of course it has to look good. That's Custom.

The Crown Sedan and Pick Up I have mentioned last week has finished and were able to show at SCN. But the Pick Up had to go back to factory for last adjustment. Sedan is complete except the interior. Metallic Dark Gray body with chromed parts shining and Wheels Mag Gray Color Matches to very well with body. It's the sedan for adults.

On the night before SCN, going home from Honmoku through Isezaki-cho in Yokohama, while stopping at lights, the Mercedes stopped at side. When I noticed the car had stopped the window rolled down, be given a start. Then the gentleman who was about my age said to me "That's more than 30 years old car, its beautiful, please take good care of your car". In California everyone will say something when you are driving a different car but no one does that in Japan. I was surprised when Mercedes came by and rolled its window down but It made me feel great driving the way back home. He was about same age as myself, this Sedan catches attention from old man.

In SCN, Mr. Kaneko the president of a huge Truck buying center with other name Mr. Blue has helped us at entrance gate. Very thank full. This year he was late because the tire had burst. He had chosen a bad excuse then he had second burst again on the way back. Twice in a day! Unusual but anything may be possible with Mr. Blue. Mr. Blue, Thank you for helping us all the time.

SCNに間に合うの？

年明けから進め始めたMS50 クラウンセダンとRS56 クラウン ピックアップのProjectがいよいよ完成間近となってきました。

1-JZエンジンに換装済みのMS50は全塗装・内装とホイル交換です。ホイルはSpeed Master Wheel、この機会に17×7 5H114.3 +25を製作しました。しかもセンターキャップも新たに作り、5H205 VW用のようなホイルにビス留めタイプ、高さもVWの物よりか若干低くなった特製品です。ホイルアダプター等を使わなくても130クラウンとかにジャストフィットの＋25で、4月下旬には発売開始になります。


RS56 ピックアップは快適・高速クラウンピックアップとなるべく、なんとこれにも1-JZを積んでいます。まだ完成したのを見ていないので何とも言えませんが、大変楽しみな一台です。このクルマは板金塗装と内装は既に終わっているので、換装が済めばそのまま乗り出せそうです。


2台とも明日のSCNに展示したいなと思っていますが、（このブログを書いている）今日は木曜日。現時点ではまだ2台共、目の前にありません。不安。。。。

明日4月15日(日)は21回目のMOONEYES Street Car Nationals。昨年の20回目で600台以上のエントリーがありました。20回目という事もあり、多くのエントリーがあったので21回目はきっと少なくなるだろう、なんて大方の予想は嬉しい事に裏切られ、700台オーバーとなりました。ありがとうございます！楽しい一日にしましょう。ご協力宜しく御願いします。

The project '70 Toyota MS50 Crown Sedan and '70 Toyota RS56 Crown Pick up has finally came close to completion.

The MS50 Sedan with swapped 1-JZ motor has new paint this time with new interior and new set of wheels. The wheels is Speed Master Wheel which we made new size 17X7 5H114.3 +25. We also made new center cap, center cap is not snap on but screwed to wheel style, like 5H205 VW version and the height of center cap is lowered short than 5H 205 VW version. No wheel adapters are necessary for 130 series Toyota Crown with Just fit +25 off set. They are ready at stores by end of April. RS56 Pick up has gained great comfort and Speed by 1-JZ Engine too. Can't tell much as not seen its completion yet but looking very forward to seeing it. This Pick up has new paint and new interior before the motor swap, so think it can drive right out after swapping drive train completes.

I want to display both Crowns at "MOONEYES Street Car Nationals" but as of today on Thursday both cars has not arrived in front of me. Getting worried.

Tomorrow is the "21st Annual MOONEYES Street Car Nationals", last years 20th show had Over 600 cars entry. May be 20th annual was the key so this year most expected to be less but very nice surprise the entry was more than 700 cars. Thank you very much. Lets make it one happy day. PRA Drag Race

PRA主催のDrag Race第一戦目が4月1日(日) 仙台ハイランドで開催されました。 今回はスタートライン付近でレース進行のお手伝い、目の前で迫力のバーンナウトが見られ、特等席です。さらに僕は写真も撮りたいのでカメラをぶら下げての進行係でした。走っている人達は自分のクルマの写真って意外と持っていないものなので、良い写真が撮れた時は写真をオーナーに送る事もあります。そんなこんなで300枚近く撮影してしまいましたが、これがフィルムだったら36枚撮フィルムで10本弱です。フィルム代は勿論、それに現像代、プリント代、と費用がかさみますが、Digital Cameraは取り放題ですね。あまり撮りすぎると後の処理が面倒ですが、フィルムを気にしながら撮る必要がないのがいいですね。 次のPRAは2007年6月17日(日)です。

"PRA Drag Race" PRA hosted Drag Race on first round was on Sunday, April 1st at Sendai Highland Raceway in Northern Japan. This time I was helping at near staring line area for guiding race cars. The best seat in the house for burn outs. I wanted to take pictures so I had camera hanging from my neck. The drivers don't have picture of own cars so some time I give good pictures to owners. That's how I took 300 pictures but if this was on 36 Roll Film it will be about 10 films. Price of film, develop and printing so all cost may be added, Digital Cameras are free to take pictures. It's hard to do rest of work if I take too much but its good that I don't have to worry about film. Next PRA is on Sunday June 17th, 2007.

ラズルダズルでのトライアンフ

25日(日)はラズル ダズルでした。
とにかく寒い一日だったのであまり長く会場に居られませんでしたが、こんな時でもNASH君だけが半ズボンでした。

その寒い中、一台とてもカッコイイTriumphが参加していたので紹介します。製作はSo Cal Styleのバイクでいつもいい味を出しているDeluxie Customs。今回のTriumphも素敵ですね。それにMOONEYESの製品を沢山使ってくれているのがまた嬉しいです。


ルビーレッドのプラグワイヤー、ピンクのフュエルライン、Cat Tail Lamp、それにMOON Chopper TankとMOON Discです。MOON Discは車用の物をベースに中心をえぐり、貫いたりして、バイクに使えるようにしたそうです。

MOONEYES USAではそういった特別仕様にも対応していますので、自分のバイクにMOON Discを付けたい！と思った人は是非御相談下さい。どうです？このカッコよさ、しかもこのトラックに積んで走って来るところがまたまたカッコいいです。

Sunday 25th, "Razzle Dazzle" was hosted in Yokohama. It was really cold day so I couldn't stay long at the show place. Even though it was cold day, NASH was wearing short pants.

There was one cool Triumph at the show. It was built by Deluxie Customs who always has cool So Cal Style Motorcycle and this Triumph was cool too. Also it had many MOONEYES products which was really cool for us.

Ruby Red Plug Wire, Pink Fuel Line, Cat Tail Lamp, plus MOON Chopper Tank and MOON Disc. MOON Disc was specially made out of MOON Disc for a car and cut out center to use on Motorcycle. MOONEYES USA has ability to make special order size and style so please ask us if you want to have MOON Disc on your motorcycle or any thing really. How about this Triumph! Isn't it Cool ! and even more cool with this Truck to carry the Triumph. Amazing!

有田焼

先週、東京代官山で行われたUSAのTattoo Artiest、Don Ed Hardy氏の作品展に行ってきました。 そもそも彼とのきっかけは、昨年12月に来日した彼の友人が海外へ日本のカスタムカルチャーを紹介したい、という話を一歩進める事もあったのですが、その話より今回の作品展があまりに感動的だったので皆さんにも紹介したいと思います。

	その企画が凄いのは何と、日本の伝統産業の陶器、それも有田焼で彼の作品を表現しようというのです。ただ陶器にデザインを載せるという今までの方法から一歩も二歩も進んで、伝統技法を使いながらもそこに表現されているのは、今までの常識を破った国外からの才能によって生まれた新しい作品によって、日本の伝統工芸が見直されているという事です。

数々の作品を見ると「これをUSAの人が描いたの」と思うくらい日本的なデザインもあります。やはり興味があったのは日本と彼のデザインの融合で完成された西洋的デザインが載った有田焼です。

時代の先端を行くアートを見てちょっと感動して表へ出ると、バックでパーキングメーターに入れようとした車が後ろから来た車にぶつかっていたり、道の反対側に620が停まっていたりで、東京は忙しい所でした。

I went to the USA Tattoo Artiest, Don Ed Hardy's Exhibition at Daikanyama, Tokyo. I have known him from his friend who has been to Japan in last December to promote Japanese Kustom Kulture to abroad and this was one of the steps too but since his art work was so impressive I like to introduce his work to everyone too. This was very special art work as traditional Japanese industrial born china "ARITA-YAKI" was used to express his art work. It was not simply putting design on born china but took one or two step ahead to use traditional procedure but expressed images are out law of the ordinary from abroad talent and those new born images and art work is making Traditional Japanese industrial are work is getting attention for more value. In among many art work of his, there are some very Japanese style design that questions us if really artist from USA has drawn this. Of course the interest went to his "ARITA-YAKI" art work with Japanese traditional and his western style art combined. After being little impressed by looking at brand new art, I stepped outside and there was a car crashed to another car coming from behind while backing up to park the car on the street, Datsun 620 was parked on the other side of street. Tokyo was a busy place.

Visitors #2

1月14(日)、Barracudaさん主催のDomestic CarsのMorning Cruise "MANIA CRUISE"をArea-1裏 Parking Lot.で開催しました。このMorning Cruiseは奇数月の第2日曜日に開催しています。

今回、50台近くの国産車が集まったのですが、集まったのは国産車だけでなく、USAからVisitorも2名いたのです。しかもどこかで会った事あるなーと思って話していたら、何と12月30日のブログに書いた「MarylandでMS60(クジラクラウン)を持っていて部品を探している」と言っていたSEMAショーで会った人だったのです。今回は兄弟でやって来たそうです。このCruiseの事はBarracudaさんのWebで知ったらしく、オートサロンを見て、このCruiseに来て、28日(日）のNew Year Meetingを見て帰国するそうです。凄い、日本車中心の旅です。

今USAの若者に日本車旧車が受けているようです。以前ブログで、最近、電車やバスを使ってArea-1にやって来る海外からの旅行者が増えたと書いたばかりですが、何と彼らはレンタカーでやって来ました。海外からの旅行者が日本でレンタカーを運転するのは大変だと思います。遂にレンタカーで海外の旅行者がArea-1に来店したのです。 カーナビがあるから大丈夫と言っても日本語ですし、道のサインはおまけ程度の英語しか書いてませんし、デタラメにあっちこっち繋がっている日本の道は海外の人では簡単に運転できませんね。彼らHsu兄弟のガッツに拍手です。彼らのWebサイト "Japanese Nostalgic Car"は楽しいですよ。

夕方にはBike Shop "TT & Company"さんの高橋社長一行がツーリングの途中に立ち寄ってくれました。嬉しい事にバイクの方々の来店も増えています。TT & Companyの皆さん、寒い中ありがとうございました。

"Visitors #2" On Sunday January 14th Morning Cruise for "Domestic Japanese Old cars-called MANIA CRUISE" was hosted by "Barracuda" at MOONEYES Area-1 parking lot in Honmoku, Yokohama. This morning cruise is hosted on every second Sunday of odd month. There were about 50 domestic cars at this morning cruise, not only the domestics but we had 2 visitors from USA. Plus I thought I have seen before and it was on the last blog the same guy from Maryland that I met at 2006 SEMA show looking for parts for 1972 TOYOTA Crown MS60. This time he came with his brother. He found this cruise on Barracuda's Web Site and plan was to see TOKYO Auto Salon, this Cruise and New Year Meeting on Sunday 28th. Their main trip is based on Japanese cars. Now Japanese Nostalgic cars are getting popular among young generation in USA. On the last blog, I had mentioned that there were many people from abroad visiting MOONEYES Area-1 by train and bus but they came driving rent a car. I think it's hard for visitors to drive in Japan with rent a car. Finally visitor from abroad has visited Area-1 by renting a car and driving to Honmoku, Yokohama. I don't think its easy for tourist to drive in Japan as there are only GPS in Japanese, signs on street has English with no intention to guide and road connected in various direction and places.
