Old Sign
MOON Garage に新しいサインが付きました。と言っても新しくはありません。
1992年 California の MQQN Front Building を倒した際、付いていたサインを外しておいた物を
Woody Kobayashi に修理再生して貰い、 取り付けてもらいました。
これは MQQN Tower の縦部分に付いていた物で "MOON" しかありませんでしたので
"Equip. Co." は Woody Kobayashi が製作した物です。
We put up a new sign at MOON Garage. Well, it's not really new though.
In 1992, when the MQQN Front Building in California was being torn down, we saved the signs and gave them to Woody Kobayashi so they could be repaired and restored. He also mounted them to the wall. This was the vertical letters on the MQQN Tower so only the "MOON" portion is from the building. The "Equip. Co." letters were made by Woody Kobayashi.
側面に付いていた "MOON Equip.Co." の一つは本牧 MQQN Garage 内にあり
もう一つは修理再生をすませ California に向かう Boat の中にあります。
1960年代のサインが復活です。
The horizontal letters from the building, "MOON Equip. Co." are currently mounted on the inside of Honmoku MOON Garage. The other one has been repaired and restored and it currently on a boat heading for California.
These signs are revivals from the 1960s era.

Cherry Blossom in Full Blossom - 桜満開
お花見の特等席! MQQN Cafe
Cherry blossom viewing (Hanami) Super Seat at MQQN Cafe!
歳を取ると桜が奇麗に見えてくるか不思議ですね。
ポカポカ陽気につられて1960 T-birdでランチ、桜満開の本牧通り、
普段は渋滞フリーのこの道も年一回この時期だけは混みます。
水曜日は雨が降ると言うので見納めかもしれませんね。
It's strange how you start to appreciate the beauty of the cherry blossoms as you get older.
In a cheerful mood we took the 1960 T-bird out for lunch, drove along Honmoku Street, cherry blossoms were in full bloom.
Normally this street is never backed up with traffic but once a year it gets like this.
The forecast is for rain so it may have been the last chance to the them.
本牧通りは桜満開です。

あまりに気持ちが良い天気だったので１パイ、もちろんアルコールFreeです。
最近これで用が済むケースが多くなってきました。
It was such a great day I had to have one, of course Alcohol Free.
これ以上直してもキリがないのでこの辺で諦めモードに入ったT-bird.
取り敢えず近くなら問題なさそうです。
There's no end to the amount of work that can be done to the T-bird so I've settled with it, as is. I don't mind driving it around to nearby places.
ボロボロT-2, 海が近いせいか古い車はすぐに駄目になります。
海が近いと言えば本牧は「津波警報 避難対象区域」に指定されました。
The worn-out T-2, it either from the nearby saltwater or just the fact it's old.
Speaking of the ocean, Honmoku was recently added to the Tsunami Warning Evacuation List.

MQQN Cafe Renovation
5日間の休みでご迷惑をお掛けしました。
本日3/3/2012 MQQN Cafeオープンしています。
今年5月17日で20年になりこの場所で営業を始め16年、
空調機は調子悪くなり、天井, 壁, 床 & シート等それぞれ年期が入って来たので
空調設備交換の際に思い切って奇麗にする事にしました。
奇麗になりました！

For five days, MOON Cafe was closed for renovations. Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused. Today, March 3, 2012, MQQN Cafe is OPEN again!
This year on May 17th MQQN Cafe celebrates 20 years. We've been at this location for 16 years.
The air conditioning unit started to go bad so when the time came to change the air conditioning unit, we decided to renovate the ceiling, walls, floor and seats at the same time and make the entire cafe pretty and new again.
It looks brand new!
I think everyone will enjoy the renewed look.

オープンキッチンの為、目には見えませんが16年間の油等が付着してこの雰囲気を作っていました。
This was while they were redoing the ceiling. The white area is new paint.
The tan color is not a base coat.
Unnoticed to the naked eye, an open kitchen and 16 years of cooking, the oils have accumulated to producing that color.
新たに張り替えられたシートですが
パンツにぶら下がっている鍵とかレザーパンツから結構ダメージを受けちゃうんです。
Newly reupholstered seat.
Over the years, pants with chains or leathers with zippers had caused some damage to the seats.

MQQN Cafe は 3/2(金)まで店内メインテナンスの為 お休みさせて頂いています。 エアコンも New になります! 3/3(土)より平常営業となります。 ご迷惑をお掛け致します。

2012年5月17日 MQQN Cafeは20周年を迎えます。
1991年5月17日、最初のMQQN Cafeは２軒隣で50s Styleでオープンしました。
Seeburg のジュークボックスはテーブル上のセレクターから好きなミュージックを選曲でき
クローズドキッチンスタイルでしたし席数も今より多かったと思います。
カウンター席は禁煙席としましたが 喫煙出来る席だけが一杯でお待ちになるお客様からは
「なぜカウンターが空いているのに座れないの？！」との声が多くすぐメゲ、
全面喫煙可となりつい数年前まではその状態でしたが神奈川県指導により今はめでたく全面禁煙での営業となっております。
1996年7月13日 現在の場所で60s Style Coffee Shopとして新たに営業を開始しました。
月日が経つのは早いもので20年を迎えようとしています。
飲食業の20年は小売業の20年とはまた違うハッスルが沢山ありました。
そして今の店長はGin前田君、初代店長はE藤君、初代アルバイトはGoshu君でした。

May 17, 2012 MQQN Cafe celebrates its 20th Anniversary.
May 17, 1991, the first MQQN Cafe was two buildings down and opened as a 50s style diner.
It had a Seeburg jukebox that customers could select to play music from right at their table and the cooking are was a closed kitchen style environment. I think there used to be more seating though.
Initially, the counter was non-smoking only but at the time only the smoking section would be full and a lot of customers would ask, "Why is the counter seating open?!" So, we decided to make all seating available to smokers.
That was how it was until recently when the new law passed in Yokohama prohibiting smoking and we happily changed all indoor seating to a non-smoking environment.
July 13, 1996 in its current location, we reopened the cafe as a 60s style Coffee Shop.
Time has passed so fast and now it's been 20 years.
20 years of food and beverage service takes a different hustle compared to 20 years of retail service.
The current cafe manager is Gin Maeda, the first manager was E. To along with first generation part-timer Goshu.
We are currently working on something special for the MQQN Cafe 20th Anniversary so stay tuned!!

Grand National Roadster Show (GNRS) の初日, 1月27日から NHRA ミュージアムで 11月迄 (予定) MQQN 創業60周年を記念して MQQN Exhibit が開催されます。 MQQN Equipment Company で 40年、 MQQNEYES となってから20年、 歴台の車も展示予定です。
On the first day of the Grand National Roadster Show (GNRS), January 27 (Friday), the NHRA Museum will open its new exhibit celebrating the 60th Anniversary of MQQN, 40 years of MQQN Equipment Company and the 20 years since becoming MQQNEYES. Many historic cars will be on display as well.

MQQN Cafe, Jesolo Beach, Italy
朝9:30 MQQN Cafe, Italy にやって来ました。今日はブリュッセルからの日帰りです。 開店から一ヶ月がたち使い込まれた感じが出てきて良い感じになって来ました。朝8時からオープンしてお客様が来るのか疑問でしたが結構出入りがある様です。
At 9:30 in the morning we headed to MQQN Cafe, Italy. Today we took a day trip from Brussels. It's been about a month since I last visited and was pleased to see the place was crowded and constantly busy.
They open at 8AM so I was wondering if there would be customers so early but was happy to see people coming and going constantly.

MOON Cafe Jesolo, Italy
2011年 5月 18日、 イタリア、 それも観光地で有名なベニスのすぐ近くにあるリゾートタウン Jesolo Beach に MOON Cafe Italy がオープンしました。 MOON Cafe 創業 20年で初めてのフランチャイズです。場所はカートコース等があるレーストラックの敷地内でこの週末は大きなバイクイベントが開催されます。
イタリアでは珍しいアメリカンスタイルのレストランです。 提供されるメニューはハンバーガーを中心に
ピザやサンドウィッチを中心とした軽食的なイタリアンメニューもあり、 Bar もあります。
営業時間は何と朝 8時から夜中 2時までなんと本牧の 1.5倍の営業時間です。

May 18, 2011 ITALY. A close distance from world famous tourist and historic destination Venice, Italy is the resort town of Jesolo Beach and now home to the newly opened MOON Cafe Italy. After 20 years of being in business, MOON Cafe has its very first franchise.
Situated next to a cart-course race track, this weekend there was a motorcycle event taking place.
MOON Cafe is actually a unique American style restaurant in Italy. The main menu features hamburgers as well as pizza, sandwiches and light meals including an Italian menu and full bar as well.
Operating hours are from 8AM to the late hours of 2AM, that's 1.5 times longer hours than in Japan.
The terrace is huge and open air really makes it feel original to MOON Cafe Italy.
If you ever take a vacation or travel to Venice, Italy, be sure to make a stop at Jesolo Beach for a visit.

本牧と同じユニフォr−ムを郵便で送っておいたのですが、ローマの郵便局でスタックしていました。
I had sent uniforms just like we use in Japan by express mail but there were being held at Customs in Rome.

勿論本牧で一番人気のあるボックスシートもあります。

イタリアに MOON Cafe!! / MOON Cafe in Italy!!
MOON Cafeがイタリアに！
それもベニスにちかい Jesolo Beach と言うリゾートタウンにできます。
南 California で言うと Balboa Beach みたいな街です。
開店は 5月 15日頃、 イタリアに MOON Cafe カッコいいですね。

4 Days After Big Earthquake M9.0
夕暮れ迫る みなとみらい横浜 どのビルも節電の為 明かりがありません。
As the evening turned to dark on Minato-mirai Yokohama area, the building remained dark because everyone was conserving power.
ガソリンを求める車の列。
Cars lined up hoping to get gasoline.
渋滞中ふと左を見ると今時珍しい年式の Toyota Surf が。。
During the congestion I just happened to look to my left and see an excellent Toyota Surf (4Runner)...
なんと MOONEYES Staff の通称オッチャンこと角谷君が愛犬を抱きながら出て来ました。危ないな〜。
Ah, it was MOONEYES Staff Sumiya, aka "Otchan" or Old Man and his beloved dog in his lap. So dangerous...

沖縄のハンバーガー ビクモン/Okinawa's VICMONT Hamburger
古い物を整理していたらこんなステッカー (右) が出てきました。
左はハンバーガーが入っていた袋です。
As I was sorting through some old things, this sticker popped out.
On the left is design of the bag that the hamburger came in.
このステッカーは沖縄の VICMONT 「ビクモン」と言うハンバーガーチェーンで復帰前の1971年頃から80年代まで沖縄各地に30店くらいあり
純県産のフランチャイズで当時は珍しかったそうです。
This is a sticker of a hamburger restaurant that was on Okinawa called VICMON that existed from around 1971 and throughout the 80s. It was an impressive franchise for its day with 30 or so restaurants spread all over Okinawa and run by locals.
そのビクモンを立ち上げたのは高校時代からの友人 Yamashiro のお父様で VICMONT の由来は御自身の名前から付けたそうです。
その後Mac等の沖縄進出によりフランチャイズを解散したそうですが 最後まで営業していた1番街店も昨年 Close してしまったそうです。
That VICMONT was originally founded by the father of my friend from high school, Yamashiro. The origins of VICMONT were also derived from his own name. Soon after around that time, McDonald's and other big names began to advance into Okinawa and break up the franchise. However, until the very end the original VICMONT stayed in business until just last year when it closed.
是非もう一度食してみたいです。
Certainly, it would be ideal to eat there again.

Yamashiro is also Yamashiro Watchmaker on Kokusai-dori (the main avenue).
2 階で「Camp Carnival」と言う衣料雑貨のお店もやっていました。
これがその時のステッカー。
On the 2nd floor was "Camp Carnival" which was a clothing and accessories shop.

高校時代 東京に住んでいた彼の家で夕食を御馳走になった際、味噌汁に「ポークランチョンミート」が入っていて
衝撃的にビックリしたのですがこれが旨かった！
当時、本土の食卓でトン汁以外に 味噌汁にハム系が入っているのは食べた事無かったと思います。
またタコライスを教えてくれたのも彼、彼のおかげで MOON Cafeは早くから沖縄食文化を取り入れる事が出来たのです。
In high school, they lived in Tokyo and I remember eating at their house one night and was literally shocked that the Miso Soup had luncheon meat (SPAM) in it, but even so, it was so delicious!
At the time, on the mainland of Japan, I don't think I ever had Miso soup mixed with ham before.
He also introduced me to Taco Rice, and it was because of him that MOON Cafe began with a lot of Okinawa based dishes.
また MOON Cafe のポークランチョンミートは SPAM で無く沖縄で愛されているオランダ製チューリップ社製を使っています。
By the way, the luncheon meat at MOON Cafe is not SPAM, it's pork luncheon meat from a company called Tulip in Holland.

Non-Smoking!
4月1日（木）から MQQN Cafe は店内全面禁煙となります。
個人的には大歓迎ですが 経営する立場からは大きな決断です。1992年 Open 当時の MQQN Cafe はカウンターを禁煙にしていましたが当時のニーズに合わず数カ月で消滅 それ以来何度となく出ては消えた話ですが今回は本気です。 でも売上も心配です。。。詳しくは かながわのたばこ対策 お読み下さい。
外のテラス席では今まで同様本牧通りを行き交うクルマを見ながら喫煙をお楽しみいただけます。
Beginning April 1, 2010 (Thursday), MQQN Cafe will be completely non-smoking. For me personally, as a non smoker, this is welcomed. However, it's a big decision to consider from a managerial standpoint. When MQQN Cafe opened in 1992, the bar counter was initially non smoking. It lasted for several months but after constant requests from customers, the situation slowly changed. This time though, it's for real...
Smoking will be permitted outside on the terrace, as it has always been. Smokers can enjoy the terrace seating and watch the cars drive along Honmoku street.
The Kanagawa Prefecture which includes the Yokohama area where MOON Cafe is located will put a new ordinance in effect to ban smoking in public places. The ordinance is dubbed the "Prevention of Exposure to Secondhand Smoke" and set new restrictions and guidelines. Places like MOON Cafe could offer smoking and non-smoking areas. However, the decision has been made to make it completely non-smoking.

一口サイズのハンバーガーです。直径7.5cm、パテは 50g、3個で一皿ですから 150g。
つまり Shirley MOON Burger と同じ重さですから結構ヘビーです。
小さいの食べやすく、一緒に付いてくる MOON Cafe ホームメイド チリ、アボカド、レタス、トマト等を
それぞれ別々トッピングすれば 3種類のハンバーガーが楽しめます。もちろんバンズも特性！
巨大ハンバーガーに飽き飽きしている皆さん、MOON Cafe の One Bite バーガーはいかがですか？！
It's our bite size hamburger. It has a diameter of 7.5cm (about 3"), the patty is 50g (about 1.8oz) and comes with 3 equaling 150g (about 1/3 lbs).
In other words, it's about the same amount as the Shirley MOON Burger which is actually quite heavy.
Each burger is small and makes it easy to handle and eat. It comes with MOON Cafe's homemade chili, avocado, lettuce and tomatos on the side as individual toppings so you can be creative with three types of burgers. Of course, the buns are special quality too! For the people that are tired of huge burgers or want to try something new, how about a MOON Cafe One Bite burger?!

お年玉でも入ったのでしょうか？ 新年早々、何気に強気でワンバイトバーガーを食していました。
MOONEYES Staff Matchan (a.k.a. Map) takes care of wholesale and dealer orders. Never one to be extravagant, Matchan hardly ever eats at MOON Cafe. Even at his age, I wonder if "Matchan's New Year" had any New Year Gifts? Just because it was the new year and for no special reason, he got to eat a One Bite Burger.

It's been a long time since High-Tension (enthusiastic) Matchan ate at MOON Cafe
まずはアボカドを挟んで "Avocado Baby MOON Burger"
First, with the avocado, he had an "Avocado Baby MOON Burger"
次は MOON Cafe のホームメイド Chili を載せて "Baby MOON Chili Burger"
Next, he used the MOON Cafe's homemade Chili for a "Baby MOON Chili Burger"
最後はトマト、レタス、ケッチャップ＆マスタードで "Original Baby MOON Burger"を製作するマッチャン
Lastly, using the remaining tomato, lettuce, ketchup and mustard, he had an "Original Baby MOON Burger" customized by Matchan
「昼休みはとっくに過ぎているけど、気持ちいいな～」とまったく仕事に戻るきのない正月ボケのマッチャンでした。
"Lunch break was over a long time ago but I feel great..." With no intent to return to work on this first day of work, that's my Matchan

Long Beach Motorcycle Swap Meet
Southern California , Long Beachで毎月開催される（今年から毎月）Long Beach Swap Meetに
MOONEYESも出店していますがこの所少しづつではありますが認知されてきたようです。
Held each month (once a month started this year) in Long Beach, southern California is the Long Beach Swap Meet. MOONEYES has a space there and although small it’s been getting noticed more recently.
と思っているとはるかかなたにMOON Cafeのパーカーを着た人が歩いているではありませんか！
結構 日本製製品が人気あります。嬉しい事に「これ日本製？」って良い響きで尋ねられのです。
Just as I thought this, off in the distance I spotted someone wearing a MOON Cafe hooded jacket! Japanese products are reasonably popular right now. I heard the question, "Is this made in Japan?" being asked quite a bit.
まずMOONEYES Wildman石井デザインのMotorcycle Tシャツの人気は凄い！
However, MOONEYES Wildman designed Motorcycle T-shirts were amazingly popular!
そしてこのハンドル実は、IM Factoryさんが作ってくれているのですが、注目度かなり高いです。
These handlebars were also popular. These are made by IM Factory in Japan and get a lot of attention.
Brat Style製のハンドルの人気がありますし、このRat Fink SkateboardやBull Original製のMOONEYES SeatやRat Fink Seatも大人気でした。
Brat Style in Japan made handlebars were also popular as well as the Rat Fink Skateboard and these Bull Original, handmade, MOONEYES and Rat Fink seats are also from Yokohama Japan.
そうしたら目の前にさっきのMOON Cafeパーカーが反対側の店で何か見ていたので
「それどうしたの？」と聞いたら「昨年のHot Rod・Custom Showに行った際に購入した」との事。ありがとうございます。
All of a sudden, right in front of me at a table across from us was the person wearing the MOON Cafe hooded jacket from earlier. I got a chance to ask him about it and he said it bought it when he was at the Hot Rod Custom Show last year. Thank you very much.
今回サンプルで持って行った5.5QTのChopper Oil Tankも注目を集めていましたし、
勿論、通常のChopper Oil Tankは根強い人気でした。
We brought a sample with us this time of the new 5.5qt Chopper Oil Tank and it got a lot of attention, of course, like a general Chopper Oil Tank would get.
USではまだ正式には発売していないEmergency Fuel TankはSampleをどうしてもと言う人が購入してくれました。
Although it's not officially released in the US, we brought our Emergency Fuel Tank and aluminum bracket sample and someone purchased it.
会場にはあふれんばかりのハーレーだったので、気になったCB500とモンキーです。
At the swap meet there was an overflow of H-D bikes but this Honda CB500 caught my eye as well as this Honda Monkey.
Swapt Meetでは昨年HCSに来日したMarkがブースを出していました。
Mark, a guest from HCS last year, had a space setup at the swap meet too.
初めのころはあまりパッとしなかったMOONEYESブースをめげることなく出店し続けてくれたYoshi君、ありがとう。
今年からこのSwap Meetは毎月になりました。数年前まで閑古鳥が鳴いていたような状況でしたが
やはり「継続」ですね。今は入りきらない位の状況です。
At first, the MOONEYES table wasn't very popular but we are thankful that Yoshi didn't run away and stuck it out.
Beginning this year, the swap meet is held once a month. A number of years ago it was struggling but they continued on. Now, it's like there isn't enough room for everyone to enter.

年末・年始

新年あけましておめでとうございます。
2008年12月31日、MOON Cafe前で開催された恒例のカウントダウン、
大勢の方々にお越しいただきましたが、その中でも一番Happyだったのが友人のチャレンジャーに乗って登場したO氏。
何でHappyかと言うと、長い間苦しめられた「胆石」がチャレンジャーに同乗中、Big Blockエンジンから来る激しい衝撃で移動しNew Yearの15分前に放り出されたのでした。
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
On December 31, 2008, we carried out the tradition of holding our countdown in front of MOON Cafe. There were many people there this year and although everyone was cheerful,
the HAPPIEST person there was my friend Mr. O that arrived in his friend's (DODGE) Challenger.
Why so happy? For a long time he had been suffering with gallstones and was unable to ride in the Challenger because of the Big Block engine. But just 15 minutes before the New Year, it was "passed" and he was able enjoy the festivities.
その胆石とO氏の満面の笑顔をご覧ください。胆石は苦しい、痛いって聞きますが、この笑顔を見たら本当にそうなんだなと思いました。
Now you can really see his happiness and relief that the gallstone pain and discomfort has been released.
そのO氏の横ではいつもMOONEYES Fan、今年最後のイベントにも参加でした。
皆様2008年、大変お世話になりました。

年が明けた2009年1月2日は MOONEYES Area-1の初売り、もちろんFortune Bag(福袋）の発売です。遠くから大勢の方にお越しいただきました。ありがとうございます。

4日のJunk Fairには 昨年のHCSでBest of 70s賞を受賞したS氏がそのNOVAで来店、
帰り姿を携帯カメラで撮ろうと構えましたが早すぎて撮れたのはこんなでした。
JUNK FAIR on January 4th. Last year's HCS, Best of 70s award winner, Mr. S was there with his NOVA. I tried to get a shot with my mobile phone camera when he was leaving but he was too fast, so my photo looked like this.

今日がクリスマスイブ
ステージでいきなり靴を脱ぎ何やら話し出すMr. Blue。本当は乾杯の発声のはずが思わず脱線、こんな調子で始まったMOONEYES Company Xmas Dinner
Mr. Blue suddenly took his shoe off and began telling some story on stage. He was initially going to make a toast, called KANPAI in Japanese, but drifted quickly off track and that was the start to our MOONEYES Company Xmas Dinner.
場所はいつものSeaman's Club
The place was the Seaman's Club in Yokohama,
結構料理がおいしいのです。
which has very delicious food.
司会進行はKid RockerとSteve
Emcee for the evening was Kid Rocker along with Steve.

Santa Claus showed up with presents to give to all the children
恒例のビンゴゲームではこんな状態になったにも関わらず
and the anticipated BINGO game turned out like this.
最後まで当たらない方達は正座していました。
Regardless of the frenzy, there were a few that didn't win and sat down Japanese style up front in hopes to winning.
ビンゴ賞品に囲まれご機嫌の方々と、当たって大笑いの首のバンドエイドが気になるMOONEYES Fan。
Surrounding the Bingo prize table were happy winners as well as MOONEYES Fan, with a curious band-aid on his neck, bursting out in laughter as he finally won.
特別ゲストには、ベルギーのコブス君カップルとオランダのモリース君カップル、コブス君はEurope Bug Inの主催者の一人です。彼らはホットロッドショー前に来日し、東京、横浜を観光し、２２日に沖縄から戻ってきてばかりです。
Special guests joining us for the evening were Kobus from Belgium and Maurice from The Netherlands. Kobus is one of the European Bug-In promoters. They arrived in Japan just before HCS and have been sightseeing all over Japan since. They just came back from Okinawa on the 22nd.
１２月生まれの方々のHappy Birthdayのお祝いをし、
People with December birthdays came on stage and everyone sang Happy Birthday.
最後に、元Ｃｒｕｉｓｉｎ誌編集長及川氏が発行するFree Paper "Fly Wheels"の
紹介があり、お開きをなりました。
Lastly, post-Cruisin Magazine editor-in-chief Mr. OIKAWA announced and introduced a new Free Paper called "Fly Wheels" , bringing the dinner to a close.

モテギにて
あともう一歩で目的だったのにガス欠に合いレスキューされたMOONEYES Staffの相澤君、
We headed to Twin Ring MOTEGI, where Indy Japan 300 miles is held every year. MOONEYES Staff Aizawa had to be rescued within steps of our destination because he ran out of gas!
あともう一歩とは言ってもとまった所は、閉鎖中のモテギ東ゲートなぜそっちへ行っちゃったのか？
モテギは南か北ゲートだよ。
Although we were steps from our destination, the place we stopped was actually near the closed Motegi East Gate - why did he go to that side? Motegi is South or North Gates which are always open.
さて会場内で注油を済ませ、安心しコースへ入場。
After getting inside, we finished filling up and safely entered the oval course area.
先週はネコ・パブリッシングの開催する土日 ２Dayのイベントがあり、日曜日はVWのDrag Race、
それに友人の宮崎君が参加すると言うの応援に行って来ました。
部品取り様に購入したT-1に自分のエンジンを載せ参加となったそうですが、一番Ratでした。
当日、周回レースも同時開催され、そちらには大変な高額車が本気で走っていました。
Last week was Neko Publishing's 2-Day event (Saturday and Sunday) with Sunday being VW Drag Races. My friend Miyazaki was participating and we went to cheer him on. He purchased the T-1 to use for parts but changed his mind and put his own engine in it to race, but it looked like a Rat.
中にはこんな風にトウされる９０４（だと思う）や、
On that day, there was a circuit race going on at the same time with some serious cars running the course. Inside there was a 904, I think, being towed.
VW周回レースでおなじみのY's Cup主催者の佐藤君も参加、しかし彼が目の前を通過したのはこの時だけでした。どこかで何かが起こり９０４のようにトウされたそうですが 残念ながら目の前に二度と姿を見せませんでした。
There was a VW circuit race as well with Y's Cup organizer Mr. Sato participating in his race car. However, he only passed by once. I think something happened on the other side and he was towed like the 904. Unfortunately, that was the only time I saw the car.
MOONEYES Area-1 マネジャー成田君のブログ「本牧スタイル」にも登場した1969年Mustang Boss 302は元気に軽快に目の前を通過してゆきました。
The 1969 Mustang BOSS 302 that has appeared on MOONEYES Area-1 manager Narita's blog "HONMOKU STYLE" before was running real strong and nimble, passing right before my eyes.
このサンビームアルパイン or タイガー（だと思う）はなんと "MOON CAFE" のプレートを付けて下さっています。ありがとうございます！！懐かしのTV「それ行けスマート」もサンビームでした、最近映画化された「Get Smart」が公開中ですが面白いですよ。ぜひご覧下さい。
This Sunbeam Alpine or Tiger (I think) really surprised me because it had a "MOON CAFE" license plate attached to it. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! The old TV show "Get Smart" had a Sunbeam. Recently made into a movie "Get Smart" is now showing and it's very interesting. If you get the chance, you should see it.
MOON BuggyはフロントにAir Shockを入れ少々車高を下げたので 停車中の姿は最高にいい感じになりました。
There are Air Shocks on the front of the MOON Buggy and that lowered it just a little but the stance and view from the side looks perfect.

OSCA 20周年 記念Party -20th Anniversary Ocean Side Cruising Association
Razzle Dazzle終了後、MOON GarageでOSCAの20周年記念パーティーが開催されました。
20年前の写真
MOON Cafeのケータリングそしてラッフル、Hot Rodsもガレージ前に停められるし、MOON GarageでCar ClubのPartyは何かとても新鮮でした。
こんなクルマ密着型Partyが開けるのはMOON Garage位しかありませんね。
ところで、2月21日は、Mr. BlueことBlue Panicの金子氏の誕生日、また会社の20周年記念日とのこと。ナゼ知っているかと言うと、本人が朝、電話してきたのです。
知らされて無視は出来ないので、Wildmanに頼んでMOON Discを作ってもらいました。おめでとうございます！

We had big party of OCSA( Ocean Side Cruising Association ) 20th Anniversary at MOON Garage in Yokohama, Japan after Razzle Dazzle event on last Sunday 17th.
There were good foods from MOON Cafe and a lots of goodies for ruffle to make club member happy.
Hot Rods were parked in front of Garage, look very nice for car club party. There is nothing like MOON Garage in town for a party like this.
If you wish to have a party with your hot rod, here is the result.
By the way Mr. Blue called me today(21st). He said that today is his 47th happy birthday and 20th anniversary for his company "Blue Panic". Not many people ask for something for their own celebration. So, I sent him MOON DISC done by Wildman Ishii.

OSCA-Ocean Side Cruising Association gathered for New Year Cruise, it is 20th Anniversary this year. People who visited that day was lucky to see many OSCA member cars.
今年20周年を迎えるOSCA - Ocean Side Cruising Association。New Year Cruiseで集まってくださいました。この日Area-1 & Cafeに来店された方はOSCAメンバーのクルマが沢山見れて、運が良かったですね。

友人のアイアンスポーツ 1974 HD Sportstar XLCH1000が遂に完成しました。
といってもノーマルである訳がありません。Kフレームにリジットフレームを追加したChopperです。PaintはCandy Green＆Pearl White、クローム＆ポリッシュで光る所は光らせた綺麗な仕上がりです。
MOON Original Shovel用 Point Cover、Air Cleaner、MOONEYES/Bull OriginalのLeather Seat、そしてシートの下にはIM Fatoryの為に生産しているMOONEYES Chopper Tank、IM Factory 仕様が装着されています。 注：IM Factorｙとは横浜反町にあるHD屋さんでMOONEYESのPan & Shovel 2台を製作し、メンテナンスもお願いしているShopです。

My friend's Iron Sports 1974 HD Sportstar XLCH1000 has finally completed. But its not original, it's a chopper with K frame and added rigged frame. Paint is candy green and pearl white, chrome & polish has been done for beautiful finish.
MOON Original Point Cover for HD Shovel, Air Cleaner, MOONEYES/Bull Original Leather Seat, under the seat is the MOONEYES Chopper Tank made for IM Factory special version. Notice: IM Factory is HD shop located in Yokohama, where MOONEYES Pan & Shovel HD were build and maintenance by. Narrowed front folk, small front brake, it is beautiful and sleek.
This weekend is this year's last Area-1 Kruise Knight, I thought about joining cruise night with him on 2 bikes but I guess we will be drinking beer in MOON Cafe instead. From owner's request this bike will be displayed at MOONEYES Area-1 during cold season.
By the way the 2007 YOKOHAMA HOT ROD Custom Show DVD which will be released on end of January is produced by Garage Production who received great response from the audience of last year's MOONEYES USA Xmas Party DVD. Please look forward to it.

Down Town LAのステーキ屋さん
久しぶりにDown Town LAに行ってきました。
と言うのもLA Convention Centerで「Cultural Food Los Angeles」というメキシコ食材の展示会があったので、MOON Cafeで使える食材はないかチェックに行ったというわけです。
そのついでにThe Original Pantryというレストランに寄り、ランチを取りました。
Down Town LAのFigueroa Streetと9th Streetの交差点にあるこのレストラン、時間によっては通りにラインが出来る程混む人気店ですが、昔はこの周辺は決して治安の良いところではなかったので、並んでいるのもオッカナイ感じでした。30年前は本当に不気味な街でしたが、最近では周辺の開発が進み、明るいLAって感じに変わっていました。1924年以来、Never Closed！
注文はパンケーキ、ステーキとポークチョップです。
どうです、このステーキの厚さ！どうです、このポテト、コールスロー、グリンピースそしてパンの量！
昔からこの大きさです。ステーキは歯ごたえが十分あるアメリカンビーフ、久々に顎に疲れを覚えました。もしDown Town LAに行く事があったら是非寄ってみてはいかがでしょうか？
キャッシャーに鉄格子が・・・。
建物、店内、メニュー等すべて、今は少なくなった代表的アメリカンスタイルのレストランです。もし行くならSoy Sauceを持参する事をお勧めします！
"The Restaurant in Down Town LA"
I went to Down Town LA which I have not been there for a while, to see a convention called "Cultural Food Los Angeles" at LA Convention Center. I was hoping to find some good food for MOON Cafe at the Mexican Food Exhibition.
I stopped by The Original Pantry restaurant to take a lunch. The restaurant is at the corner of Figueroa and 9th street in Down Town LA, it is popular and sometime had to line up for seat but since it wasn't in nicest place of LA. It was a little frightening experience. It was kind of fearful area in 30 years ago but now its blight area with new development. Never closed since 1924.
Order was pancake, steaks and pork chops. How about this fat steak! And volume of the potato, coleslaw, green peas and bread!, incredible!! The volume hasn't changed from old days. Steak was hard enough to get my face muscle ache. Please try when you have chance to go to Down Town LA. The building, interior, menu and all are traditional American style which is getting less now a days. I recommend to take soy sauce with you!

Summer is over?
先週の日曜日は北海道のSCN、今年で17回にもなるのです。関東の暑さ＆湿気と比べると北海道の涼しさはなんとも心地良いのですが、現地の方々は口々に「今日は暑い」と言ってたのが印象的でした。北海道もフィンランドと同様、夏は車・バイクで走り回り、冬にゆっくりカスタムするのでしょう。どうも暑さ寒さにメリハリの無い地域では毎日が同じテンポなので、そういった変化が無い事が逆にカスタムした車やバイクに乗る感動が薄れてしまうのかもしれません。さて、ショーは快晴の下、遊園地の立地を最大限に利用し、あちらこちらにショーカーが展示され、一周するのは大変ですが周回遊覧バスがあるのでそちらを利用し、意外と楽に見れました。と言っても乗りっぱなしだったのですが。

北海道から戻り、MOONEYES Area-1にいると、Canada人のご夫婦でMr. & Mrs. Weldonが「日本に行ったら絶対、MOONEYESに行かなくてはいけなかった」と東京から電車とタクシーを乗り継いでわざわざ尋ねて来てくれました。
聞けば彼はBonneville Racerとの事。彼の車は#261 Watson & Welden "Swap Meet Roadster"というRace Carだそうで、今年のBonnevilleでChicoと会ったと言っていました。最近外国からお客様が本当に多くなりました。嬉しいです。
すると翌日にはMOONEYES Fanが愛車のハイエースにWildmanのピンスライプを入れに御来店。丸一日 お子さんと遊んで行かれました。何と昼食・夜食共、MOON Cafeをご利用頂きました。ありがとうございました。夏休みも今週末で終わりですね。夏休み最後のイベントは「MOONEYES Area-1 Junk Fair」。明日2日(日)に開催します。僕は土日、長野で開催されるSuper Weekend 2007に参加してきます。
"Summer is over?"
Last Sunday was Street Car Nationals in Hokkaido(North end Japan), this year is 17th year. It was cool and nice, less humid in Hokkaido compared to east side near Yokohama but how many local people were saying "Its hot today" was impressive. Hokkaido is just like in Finland too, people ride a motorcycle and drive a car around in summer and work on custom in winter. May be in place with no temperature difference in season and same tempo everyday may loose its impressive feeling of riding a motorcycle and driving a car.
Now under the sunny blue sky the Show was hosted in the amusement park premises using all the spaces which spread out and long walk to look around but using the bus going around the park was easy to look around. But actually was on the bus all the time.
Long distance, God Bless(Hi Performance shop) award, Best of the Show was given to the Lincoln Zephyr owner Mr. SASAKI from Aichi prefecture central part Japan, Low Rider Car Club "Esmeralda Car Club" took Car Club award, MOONEYES Award went to TOYOTA Corolla Fielder Woody owner MR. MIKAMI and more award were given to.
Swap Meet had "stuffed doll of your car" made by "Rocket Craft" was out there, how about this one compare doll with picture, amazing hand craft, very true to details. Next year lets go and entry to Hokkaido SCN, getting away from the hot summer heat.
Back from Hokkaido at MOONEYES Area-1, Canadian couple Mr. & Mrs. Weldon were visiting us by taking train and taxi, saying "Must go to MOONEYES when we are in Japan". Found out he was a Bonneville racer and his car was #261 Watson& Weldon "Swap Meet Roadster" Race Car and met Chico at this years Bonneville. I promise them to see you again at 2008 Bonneville. Recently many visitors from abroad has increased. I am happy for that.
Then on the next day one of MOONEYES Fan has visited Area-1 whole day with his sons to have Wildman's Pinstripe on his TOYOTA HIACE. They had Lunch and Dinner at MOON Cafe. Thank you very much!
The summer Holiday will end on this weekend. The last event of summer holiday. There is blow out sale Called "Junk Fair" at MOONEYES Area-1 on Sunday September 2nd and MOONEYES will attend Super Weekend 2007 at Nagano on Saturday and Sunday, so I will be there.

| "Custom Show in Italy" This issue is about "Padoa Custom Show" from picture sent from friend in Italy. You can tell from picture that Italy has heat on too. World is getting on soaked in American Customs Cultures too. McDonald, Coke, Marlboro, Hot Rod, Kustoms, Bikes and Pinstriping and so on. What really happened? Especially Bikes are extreme. Couple days ago Hungarian Bike Magazine asked us about Japanese custom scene as they want to report on their magazine. Germany cable TV crew came to MOON Cafe to take Japanese custom scene on camera. Last night DicE Magazine editor came too. Now days American Bike scene is showing strong in all over world. And their eyes are not on USA only but also on NIPPON too which is really amazing. |

年末・年始
| 新年 明けまして おめでとうございます。 素晴らしいNew Yearを迎えられた事と思います。1月3日のブログは正月休みにしてしまったので、1週間ぶりのブログです。 |
 | 慌しく過ぎ去った年末の出来事ですが、12月29日(金)、横浜中華街にある"東林"という中華店で開催された、Bull Originalの忘年会に社長のヨネさん（米澤さん）から声を掛けて頂いたのでお邪魔してきました。昨年はヨネさんやBratの高嶺さんや若手バイク関係の方々との交流もでき、また色々知らない事を教えて貰ったりで、中々充実した一年だったのです。そんな感じで今回の忘年会に声を掛けてくれたのです。嬉しかったな！ |
初めは「10人くらいの身内だけですよ～」何て聞いていたのですが、行ってみたらなんと30人近くの人がいて、殆どの方は初めての方ばかりでしたが、メンバーは今のYoung Bike Cultureの第一人者ばかり。活気がありました。燃えてましたね。全員は分かりませんがメンバーはざっと

| この後、PinstriperのShakin'清水さんを誘って本牧へ繰り出したのです。まずは再開店になったリキシャルームへ、そして次はIGへ。IGへ行く途中のコンビニからなんと、MOON Cafe シェフ＆マネジャーの御園君が出てきたのでそのまま一緒にIGへ行き、IGオーナーの八木さん、Shakin'清水さん、御園君＆営業マネージャーのMapこと松浦君と皆で高木紀男氏撮影の「1970年代 横浜・横須賀外車ストリート」を眺め、3:00amまで盛り上がったのでした。 |
| 年末31日は恒例のカウントダウンパーティー。MOONEYES Area-1が本牧にオープン以来、毎年開催しているので今年で15回目くらいになるのでしょうか？パーティーといっても大げさな物ではなく、店頭でBBQをし、お客様と一緒に年を越そうと言う企画です。 |

MOONEYESのBBQはいたってシンプル。大きくて厚めのステーキとソーセージ、それだけです。たまにチキンが加わる時もありますが、それだけで十分。色々な物を焼くのもいいですが、炭火で焼いた大きいステーキをバシっと食べるのが一番です。 |

23時頃から皆集まり始め、0時に港に停泊中の船の汽笛が響くと「Happy New Year！」全員でシャンパンで乾杯です。0時の汽笛の音、横浜は港町、本牧はまさにBay Areaです。シャンパンと言ってもノンアルコールのお子様シャンパンですよ。この一瞬だけの為に皆さん遠いところからわざわざ本牧へ足を運んでくれて、本当にありがとうございます。 |

| 1月2日(火）は初売り、それもMOONEYES Fortune Bag（福袋）の販売日です。11時半の販売開始予定にも関わらず、早くも9時頃から順番を待つお客様が大勢いらっしゃったので、整理券をお配りし、車の中で販売開始時間まで待機していただく事にしました。 今回のFortune Bag（FB）は15,000円相当の衣類関係が5,000円で購入でき、しかもMOONEYESのFBは特製FB用トートバックに入っている為、中身だけでなく袋も使える、という大変お得な福袋なんです。そしてトートバック自体のカラーもサイズや女性・男性・Kids等によってそれぞれ違うので、家族で購入されると色々なカラーのトートバックを揃える事ができます。 このFBは1月8日までArea-1店頭で販売する予定（売り切れ次第終了します）ですが、残念ながら一部サイズは既に2日で売り切れとなってしまいました。 |

| "End of Year, Start of Year" Happy New Year! Hope you had brilliant New Year. It has been a week since the last BLOG has been off for New Year Holiday. The busy end of year season went by and on the Friday 29th December, in Chinese Restaurant called "TORIN" was the "End of Year Party" hosted by Bull Original and we were invited by the owner Mr. Yone (Mr. Yonesawa). Last year was good year as we were able to get to know the Bike scene by getting to know people like Mr. Yone, Mr. Takamine of "Brat Style" and more of young bike people. That's how we were invited to the Party. Which was pleasing for me. It was about ten people at first plan but when we reached there were more then 30 people who mostly was first time to meet. Member were frontier of Young Bike Culture, lively and exciting. Don't know everyone but much as I know.
Isn't that cool. There were people from long distance, far for just a party but it must have been the Mr. Yone's trust he gain from everyone and how popular he is. It was really nice to have fun in the year end. Thank you to Mr. Yone and everyone there. This "TORIN" is close to the China Town WEST Gate in Yokohama and near the JR Negishi-Line Ishikawacho station North exit. There are many restaurant in China town and first time for me and it was really nice food. The surprise was the young president of the TORIN was friend of ex MOONEYES Staff, What a small town Yokohama. Anyway I recommend to people who haven't tired TORIN in China town when you need to go. First we went to the "Rickisha Room" which re-opened recently, then to "IG" and on the way to "IG" we accidentally met the MOON Cafe's Chef & Manager Misono who joined us to IG together. With Mr. YAGI the owner of "IG", Shackin' Mr.Shimizu, Misono and Sales Manager Map Matsuura known as MAP, We were there until 3:00 am, talking about the pictures from Mr. Norio Takagi photographed "1970 Yokohama/Yokosuka foreign cars on street". |
| Our Count Down Party is hosted on December 31st of every end of year since MOONEYES Area-1 was opened so it must have been about 15th times. Our party is not too much of a party , we have count down with our customer with BBQ at front side of shop. MOONEYES BBQ is very simple, big thick steak and sausage that's it. Sometime we add chickens but that's really enough and various things may be nice but best is to have bite of charcoal cooked big steak. People gather after 23:00 and when the ships in port blows horn its "Happy New Year", Champaign for everyone to toast. The Horn of Ships in port, YOKOHAMA is BAY SIDE TOWN, HONMOKU is a real Bay Area. Champaign is non-alcohol Kids Champaign. Thank you very much for everyone who came to HONMOKU from long way just for this second. |
| Tuesday, January 2, 2007 was first day of sale and it's the 1st day of MOONEYES "Fortune Bags" are sold. There were many customers waiting in line by early as 9am, so we handed out ticket to sought out numbers and asked to wait inside their car. This time Fortune Bag (FB) contains 15,000 yen worth clothing and related items. It's very good deal for price of 5,000yen and MOONEYES' FB is in special Toto Bag which is good item to have too. On top of that FB Toto bag has different colors for size of clothing and Men's, Women's & kids are all in different colors so different color bags can be collected, if purchased by family. This FB can be purchased at MOONEYES Area-1, HONMOKU YOKOHAMA until January 8th. There are some sizes that already sold out by two days. The end of year Count Down Party, start of year by first sales of Fortune Bag and this busy end of year and new year season will end after Junk Fair on Sunday 7th, will be back in a normal life. The Wildman Ishii's Pinstriping Demonstration is always on odd month first Sunday, Same day as Junk fair. So please come with your friends. Thank you very much. We look forward to see you on 2007. |

| 昨日もShopに居ると、外国のお客様がガイドブックを片手に来店しました。話掛けるとLos Angeles, Californiaから友人数名と観光で来ているとの事。「今は東京の友人宅に泊まりながら、あっちこっちを廻っている。今日、友人達は京都に行ったけど自分はMOONEYESに来たかったので京都はパスした」って嬉しいじゃありませんか？車で来るにはArea-1は便利ですが、公共機関での来店は日本人でも面倒なのに、まして不慣れな海外の方にとっては大変な場所です。そこをガイドブックを頼りに来てくれるのはありがたいです。 その彼は「この前のMOONEYES USA Xmas Party "Show & Drag"は最高だったね」から始まり色々と話していると、彼のUSAの友人から「もしMOONEYESに行くならCrown ClassicsはCoolだ、何かCrown Classicsの物を買って来てくれ」と頼まれた、と言うのでまたビックリ！11月のSEMAショーでMOONEYESブースにいたら、メリーランド州から来たという人から「MS60 クジラ クラウンの部品はありませんか？」って訪ねられた時もビックリしましたが、昨日も驚いてしまいました。確かにCaliforniaで若い世代にとっては見た事が無い、古い日本車旧車はブームになりつつあります。 |

| 昔は僕らがUSAに行き、あっちこっちの店を廻ると「おー！日本から来たの、良く来たね」って歓待されたものですが（MOONの親父も歓迎してくれたな）、今では日本に来たVisitorを僕らが歓待する事になるくらい、日本の車・バイク文化が世界で注目を集めているという事です。イタリアのカップルは各Shopで買いたい物を気持ち良い位買い付けていました。まるで30年前USAに初めて行った時の自分を見るようでした。 と、2006年は外国人Visitorの多い年でした。 1年間 ブログでお付き合い頂きましてありがとうございました。 皆様 どうぞ素晴らしい2007年 新年をお迎え下さい。 P.S. 最近、英語の分かるスタッフが必要だなと実感しています。世界は狭くなっていますね。 Shige 菅沼 新年 1月3日(水) のブログはお休みします。 |
| "Visitors" One day left for 2006! Many customers visited MOONEYES Area-1 through this year too. Like to thank all of our customers. Especially there were many visitors from abroad this year. There were customers from Italy, Germany, England, France, Sweden, Australia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea and USA. Yesterday, there was a customer with guide book in hand who stepped into the shop as I was in there. As I asked, customer came from Los Angeles, California with couple of friends for sight seeing. They were staying at friend house in Tokyo and visiting various places. That day his friends were going to visit Kyoto but he came on his own to MOONEYES instead of Kyoto. Isn't that Cool? Access to MOONEYES Area-1 is easy by car but difficult by public transportation for people from abroad as even residents find it hard to come by and must be very hard if not familiar with the public transportation. It's pleasing to see that people came by with guide book in hand to place like this. He has mentioned that "MOONEYES USA Xmas Party "Show & Drag" was Cool!". And I was surprised to hear that his friend has asked him to buy some stuff from "Crown Classics", as his friends mentioned "Crown Classics" is cool. I was surprised when people from Maryland, USA came up to MOONEYES Booth in 2006 SEMA Show in Las Vegas and asked for 1972 MS60 Toyota Crown parts, but I was surprised again with this one yesterday. The young generation in California has new trends of Japanese Classic cars that they haven't even seen. There was a couple from Italy who wanted to visit shops that were listed like KOFUKU SHOUKAI (YOKOHAMA), Bull Original(YOKOHAMA), Four(Tokyo), Brat Style(Saitama). I explained to them how to get to all of places by public transport, and they did visit all shop by train, bus, and taxi. But Brat Style is hard to go by, so Bull Original's Yone-san has took them to there. Yone-san is very kind. Back in the days, we were going to various places in USA and all shops used to say that you came all the way from Japan and welcomed us( Dean MOON welcomed me too). Now we are welcoming the visitors coming to Japan and that's how the Japanese Car and Motorcycle Culture are getting attention from all over the world. The couple from Italy was buying like they want to in each shop. It was just like watching myself when I first went to USA for first time in 30 years ago. The year 2006 was year of many visitors from abroad. Thank you for all readers of reading my Blog for one year. Wish everyone a Happy New Year and great 2007. P.S. Party before/after the show
| 大盛況で終わった15th Annual YOKOHAMA HOT ROD・Custom Show 2006(以下HCS)の前後に開催されるParty、これもHCSにも負けず劣らず楽しいイベントです。今回HCSのレポートはMOONEYES Mail Magaizine(MMM)をご覧頂くとして、このParty before/after showの模様をお伝えします。 ショー前日の土曜日に開催される"Little Get Together Party"は、海外からのゲストとエントリーの方々との交流を目的とした楽しい時間を共有しよう、という事で3年前から開催しています。今回も昨年に続き、ショー会場内の一部ステージ付近を使って開催しました。 |

| 今年 2006年は会場内でUSAゲストの車とバイクを走らせ、またUSA AMDでWorld Championになった九州佐賀、Chicara Motorcyclesの制作した'39年 Uベース HDも本邦初公開、走ってステージに登場しました。その姿をみて「走るんだ！」と思った方も沢山いたと思います。ショー当日では味わえない"サウンド"を体感し、大いに盛り上がりました。 またParty当日はIndian Larry LegacyのPaul Cox、そしてSinnersのDanny高橋君の誕生日、前日はやはりIndian Larry LegacyのKeino Sasaki氏の誕生日という事だったので、3人のSuprise Happy Birthdayもあったり、The El Caminosによるライブ演奏等、ゲストを含め300人近い方々が楽しい時間を過ごせたと思います。 会場にはUSAからの人は勿論、フランス、オーストラリア、ドイツ等海外からの人も多く参加していました。ショー会場でショーカーやショーバイクを見ながら色々な方々と会話が出来るなんて、贅沢なPartyですよね。 次は、Showの翌日にMOON Cafeで開催される"Party after the show"です。 そもそもはゲストのFarewell Party的に毎年HCS後の月曜日、MOON Cafeで開催しているPartyですが、ここ最近はゲストだけでなく色々な方が参加しています。 |

| 今回はBean Banditのメンバーやフランス Super VW マガジン編集長のJulien、わざわざドイツからショーを見に来たMichaelとFrank、Cruisin' マガジン 編集長 及川君、Bull Original 米澤君、北海道から来たSCAMP Gin前田とGod Bless 岡崎君 御一行とか、噂を聞いて駆けつけた人とか、とにかくあの狭いMOON Cafeが人でいっぱい。28席しかない店にいったい何人いたのでしょうか？（記念写真の人数は間違いなく居ました） MOON Cafeのアルコールや食材はほぼSold Out！そのメチャクチャ振りは写真からも想像できると思います。昨年 2005年のこのPartyの模様とかHCSの模様とかは今発売中のDVD "Hot Rod Havoc II"で体感できますのでDVDをみて「ナルホドー」って思ってください。HCSの前後はHCS以外でも盛り上がっているのです。 荒れ狂った週末は彼らが帰国するとまるで嵐が去った様に落ち着きを取り戻し、平穏な雰囲気の横浜本牧に戻りました。来年も楽しみですね。 ★速報★ 8月19日のブログでお伝えした、今年8月に45年の歴史に幕を閉じた横浜・本牧のアメリカンレストラン「リキシャルーム」が12月7日(木) 再開店することになりました。一度消えた本牧の灯が復活します。 |
| "Party before/after the show" The Party held on the before and after the 15th Annual YOKOHAMA HOT ROD Custom Show 2006(HCS) is also very fun event compared to HCS. Please refer to the MOONEYES Mail Magazine for Report on 2006 HCS and like to focus on the party before/after the show. "Little Get Together Party" is held on Saturday night before the HCS as it started out to make party for communicating between the guests from abroad and entrants from three years ago. This year we have hosted party and used space around stage like last year. This year we had US Guest Show Cars and bikes had ride in at the event space and USA AMD World Champion SAGA, KYUSHU far South Japan's Chicara Motorcycles made '39 U base HD has showed its first run in Japan and ride on to the stage. There were many people thought it runs when they looked at this scene. The party was getting very exciting as hearing that sound of all guests machine that cannot be heard on Show day. Also on the day of party, Paul Cox of Indian Larry Legacy and Danny Takahashi of Sinners had Birthday and on the day before was Keino Sasaki of Indian Larry Legacy had birthday so we had surprise Happy Birthday cakes for the three, There were live music played by The El Caminos and closed to 300 people including guest were having a good time. There were many people at party from abroad, from USA, France, Australia, Germany, UK and more. Isn't it a luxurious party as spending time with everyone inside car show space with show cars and show bikes. Next is "the Party after the show" held at MOON Cafe on the day after the show. It was originally started as farewell party for all invited guest on Monday after the show every year, but recently there are not just guest but various people had joined this party. This time there were member of Bean Bandit, Julien editor from France Super VW Magazine, Michael and Frank who came from Germany to see the show, Mr. Oikawa from Cruisin' Magazine Japan, Mr. Yonezawa from Bull Original, Gin Maeda from Scamp Hokkakido far north and Mr. Okazaki from God Bless, and more groups and people who came by hearing there was a party so in the small 28 seats cafe were filled with people. There were many people as on this photo taken at party. MOON Cafe's alcohols and foods were almost all sold out as can be imagined from the picture. CKB 剣さんが来店

9日(木) TV東京の取材で、Crazy Ken Band（CKB）の横山 剣さんが良く行くShopとしてMOON Cafeに来店してくれました。この画像はその時、剣さんにブログ掲載許可を頂いた上で撮影させて頂きました。 |
| あれほど売れているのに剣さんは何時も丁寧で、しかも腰が低く、見習わなければいけませんね。超忙しい方なので最近は昔のようにフラーっと来店される事がメッキリ減ってしまいましたが、こうして地元 横浜 本牧を大事にしてくれています。今回の取材では、CKBの練習スタジオでもあり、12月3日(日) YOKOHAMA HOT ROD・Custom Show 2006で演奏予定のThe Mojos リーダー CHIBOさんの経営するBoogie Cafeにも行かれるとのことでした。 剣さん、ご来店ありがとうございました。 ★テレビ東京系列6局ネット：「みゅーじん/音遊人」★ 11月26日(日) 22時54分 ～ 23時24分で放映です |

さて、剣さんの良く行くお店でもあり、横浜 本牧を語る上で逃す事が出来ないお店があります。それはIG。11年くらい前まではItalian Gardenと呼ばれた、平屋の雰囲気あるレストランでした。当時隣にはVeniceと言うレストランがあり、その隣にはVFW (Veterans Foreign Warの略）というBar、その昔は兵隊専用でしたが、20年位前からは日本人も利用可能だったので、良く元町の帰りに行ったものです。 |

どのお店も店内は電灯を絞り、アメリカの薄暗いバー＆レストランの雰囲気で最高でした。昔、六本木にニコラスというピザ専門店もありましたがここも薄暗かったですね。最近は薄暗い怪しげな店は減ってしまいました。MOON Cafeも午後4時以降は店内の蛍光灯を消し、少し暗い感じで営業してるのに気が付いた方いますか？電球とネオンのコンビネーションが雰囲気なんです。 Boogie CafeもMOON CafeもIGも、何処も夜は薄暗いですよ。蛍光灯は使っていません。 |

さて、Italian Gardenは近隣の開発により立ち退きとなり、今は昔のお店の反対側にIGとして11年前に移転、旧店舗からマネージメントをしていた八木さんがオーナー経営しています。 |

IGの一押しメニューは四角いピザ、それとスパピザ。ピザの上にスパゲティーが載りチーズが沢山掛かった高カロリーメニューですが、IGではさらに高カロリー希望者にスパゲティーの大盛りも注文できます。美味しいですよ、なんたって以前紹介したホフブロウのスパピザ考案者がIGで腕をふるっているのですから。 |
| 営業時間は夜7時頃～朝5時頃まで、あくまでも「頃」ですから注意してください。美味しいお酒とピザを食べながら、八木さんに本牧の話を聞いてみてください。何と言っても彼は本牧の生き字引の様な人ですから。 |
| On Thursday November 9th, 2006, Mr. Ken Yokoyama of Crazy Ken Band(CKB), famous and popular music band in Japan came to MOON Cafe to introduce place he usually goes to in TV Tokyo program. This picture was taken at that time with permission to list on my BLOG. Even though he is a big star, Ken-san is always very nice and polite which I admire the most. He is very busy and not so often visiting us like old days but still has big support to locals in Honmoku, Yokohama where he lives now which is very respective of him. That day The Boogie Cafe, the CKB session studio and The Mojos leader CHIBO-san who will be playing live at YOKOHAMA HOT ROD Custom Show 2006 was also introduced on the same TV Show. I'd like to say "thank you for visiting our shop" to Ken-san. Now the shop which Ken-san often go and is not to be missed when we talk about Honmoku, Yokohama is "IG". About 11 years ago "Italian Garden" was the former "IG" with one story looking building, nice atmosphere. Back then there was "Venice" another restaurant on the side and "VFW(Veterans Foreign War)" on the side, a bar for soldiers back then but Japanese were able to go 20 years ago so we went while we were in Motomachi shop in Yokohama. Motomachi was our first shop but no longer exist. All shops have lights down and dark looking Bar & Restaurant style with good atmosphere. Back then Nicholas Pizza was in Roppongi, Tokyo near American Embassy but this one was dark too. Now days there are less dark store with lots of stuff to look for. Did you know that MOON Cafe also has lights down after 4pm to make it little dark and good looking. Combination of Light balls and Neon makes the mood. Boogie Cafe, MOON Cafe and IG they don't use regular fluorescent lamp and are all little dark in the night. Eleven years ago "Italian Garden" was forced to be moved by local development and at other side of road Mr. Yagi who was "Italian Garden" Manager had opened new IG as owner and management. Recommending menu at IG is Square Pizza and "Spa Pizza" which has spaghetti and cheese on top of Square pizza. For high calorie need you can order extra volume Spaghetti on top. It's delicious as it's cooked by the original "Spa Pizza" originator at "HOF BRAU" which I've introduced on my BLOG before. The open hours are roughly from 7pm to 5am and that is roughly and not always precise which please note. Please try nice drink and Square pizza and ask Mr. Yagi to tell you the story of Honmoku, Yokohama as he is the living all his life. He is the Dictionary of Honmoku, Yokohama. |

横浜のレストラン：本牧 Boogie Cafe

今回はMOONEYES Area-1から数分のところにあるBoogie Cafeの紹介です。歩いても行けますよ！ オーナーのCHIBOさんはThe Mojosというバンドをやっていて、横浜を中心に活動している、かなりのFanがいるバンドのリーダーなんです。一昨年のYOKOHAMA HOT ROD・Custom Show（HCS）で演奏してもらい、今年のHCSでも演奏してくれる、横浜本牧のボス的存在です。 |

そのCHIBOさんが経営しているのが、お昼から明け方まで営業しているBoogie Cafe。この周辺はまだ高層ビルが少なく、空が広々としていて気持ちがいいのです。 昼間はお客様が店の前に車を横付けし、ランチやソフトドリンクを楽しんでいる『昼のBoogie』。 |

| This issue is introducing the Boogie Cafe which is only few minutes from MOONEYES Area-1. It is in walking distance. The Owner CHIBO-san is a leader of band called The Mojos playing live performance in YOKOHAMA and has many fans. He played live for us at HOT ROD Custom Show 2004(HCS) and will play again at this years HCS. He is like a boss of Honmoku, Yokohama. Boogie Cafe is run by CHIBO-san, open from lunch to dawn and its nice with wide open sky as no high building is near by. At lunch time many people visit by car and park on the street side to enjoy lunch and soft drinks. After sunset, night version starts with Boogie Cafes neon lights up in dark street without lighted buildings. Menu is homemade Hamburger, "Honmoku" Chow Mein, Chili ConCan, TACO Rice, Currey Rice and more. New menu is Teriyaki Burger, which taste nice. The new popular menu in Honmoku area is "Honmoku" Chow Mein which was based on MOON Cafe's Chow Mein but has more ingredient and seasoning is basically different from MOON Cafe's "Honolulu" Chow Mein, so please try. Also the Hamburger is one of the recommendations. Some time I go for lunch by Motorcycle and always order Hamburger. There are variety of beers and various kind of drinks and cocktails, his wife Shiho-san usually runs in the evening. The Boogie Cafe has Music studio as CHIBO-san plays in the band. The musician such as member of Famouse CRAZY KEN BAND(CKB) are playing for practice at this studio. So KEN-san of CKB also shows up in Boogie Cafe too. Now its one of the sight seeing spot for fans and when CKB plays live in Yokohama, the studio and cafe has over load of fan who come to see the new scene of Yokohama. CHIBO-san has sold his Porche and bought this '32 Deuce Coupe before this summer. Selling his Porche, that's great thing and that's Boss of Honomku. He was cruising around Yokohama on this Deuce. On the side of Boogie Cafe is the Black Market where is mainly sold Rock scene clothing and others. This shop is also run by CHIBO-san's wife, Shiho-san in the day time. So Shiho-san runs Black Market in day time and Boogie Cafe in the night, She is a real super woman. If you want to see the mysterious night spot of Honmoku, Boogie Cafe is good, but don't be scared of Honmoku, stepping inside is easy as its cheerful and open to welcome everyone. |

九州への旅 #1

9月19日(火) 予定の出発時間より早く横浜 本牧をスタッフの松浦君と出発、愛知県岡崎市に向かいました。岡崎に向かった理由はMOON Cafeの御園店長の友人がタコスを提供する飲食店をやっていて、何でもそこのタコスの皮は手作りのコーン トルティーアとの事、是非一度食べてみたいと思っていたのでチャンスは今日しかない！と急遽15時頃に岡崎を目指し出発しました。 |
| 今回の九州までのロングドライブの目的は12月3日(日) 横浜で開催するHOT ROD・Custom Show（以後HCS）の宣伝と、取引がありながら今までお邪魔した事のないShopさんを訪問することでした。昔、Dean MOONが僕に「リタイヤしたらキャンパーに乗って、アメリカ中にある取引先を廻るんだ」と言ってましたが結局実現できず、その言葉が頭に残っていたので、九州 鳥栖市で開催されるHot Ridesにあわせ、東海道・山陽道を南下しながら知っているShopを訪問する事にしたのです。 |  岡崎でMOONステッカー発見 |

その一番初めのShopは"CacTuses-キャクティス"。東名からはちょっと距離がありましたが、噂通りタコス美味しかったです。岡崎には古くからのMOONEYES Dealer "Hot Company"があり、突然の来訪にも社長の五十嵐さんは快くキャクティスまで来てくれて、また、"Fellow's"の松岡社長も友人の森下さんと一緒に来てくれました。 |

| その後、名神高速道路に戻る予定でしたが、せっかく四日市まで来たのだからそのまま東名阪道で奈良の"Image Craft"さんを目指しました。実は東名阪道は鈴鹿を越すと奈良あたりまで坂道が多くなり、1,900ccのクラウンにはちょっと無理があるかな？と思っていました。 |  東名阪道 高峰SAでの夕陽 |

しかしそんな心配は無用、何の問題も無くImage Craftさんに到着、Shopでは丁度Chevy Pick UpのSlammed加工の真っ最中、物凄い加工が施されていました。 |

| On Tuesday September 19th I have left Honmoku, Yokohama early with staff Mappa and headed to Okazaki city in Aichi, a Midland city of Japan by 1,900cc (122ci), 4 cylinder, 1962 Toyota Crown Stationwagon. The reason for going to Okazaki city was to eat hand made Corn Tortia Tacos at MOON Cafe's Manager, Misono's friend's restaurant in Okazaki and I knew that chances of having that tacos was only on that day. So we headed out to Okazaki at 3 o'clock in afternoon. The purpose of this long drive trip to Kyushu the far west Japan is advertisement and promotion of this year's HOT ROD Custom Show (HCS in short ) which is held on December 3rd. and visiting customers whom we trade but never been before. Back in days Dean MOON told me "When I retire, I will travel across the United states and visit all the dealers" but this was never realized and I could not forget his word so I decided to travel across Japan to far west Kyushu City of Tosu for event called "Hot Rides" and visit the dealers on the way. The first shop of the tour was "CACTUSES" and their TACOS was delicious as said to be, a little far from Toumei Highway. In Okazaki, there is MOONEYES Dealer called "Hot Company" who has been our dealer from old days and owner Mr. Igarashi has kindly came to CACTUSES to join us in sudden visit with "Fellow's" owner Mr. Matsuoka and his friend Mr. Morishita also joined us at CACTUSES. That night we end up going back 22 miles to Tokyo and stayed near by Toyohashi station. Lost 45 miles for going back and forth. Next day on Wednesday 20th, We went around Nagoya area and hoping to visit Okayama (300miles away) too. First we visited "Cokie's AUTOMOTIVE" at Anjyo city where American cars and parts sales are main business. We have surprised owner Mr.Fujii. Sorry! Then we went to visit "Fellow's". Last night when we were eating TACOS we have asked if we can visit and seriously he was saying "NO" which we take It as means yes and visited them. Fellow's host car club called "Strongers" and has real ability as at HCS they received many trophies for unique Domestic cars. The shop has some taste and recognized why they prefer us not visiting we have headed to "Borders" who built famous Shu-Marc and J-Marc, specializing for Mercury kustoms. As you may know their Merc was modeled for Hot Wheels a while ago. It has been a long relationship between Borders but didn't have chance to visit their shop. Shop was clean and tidy with number of Kustom cars and Office in shop was also clean with parts and Hot Wheels were displayed. Every thing remind us of a real Retail store and worth paying a visit. Unfortunately owner Mr. Kato was out but Mrs. Kato kindly showed us around. Next was USA wheel and Tire specialist shop called "Wheels Unlimited" who join us at HCS every year with Jene Winfield. I was surprise to see many rare old wheels were at there in shop existing in Japan. There must be many people who understand value of these wheels in USA but in Japan that questionable. You guys are brave! There were many wheels that I wished I had too. Really just amazing. The Wheels Unlimited is run by Sakuragi brothers please ask about wheels and tires, I am sure they can be your help. But may be not wheels for Front Wheel Drive!? Next we stopped by "Good Fellows" who has many interesting US cars but unfortunately they were out. We got on Higashi Meihando highway and headed to "Shoe Box" in Yokkaichi city. I have passed by this shop every year on the way to Suzuka Street Car Nationals and always wanted to stop by, so it was great to see. Owner Mr. Kawamura is big fun of Barris and that means he loves Kustom. By looking at these shops in Toukai area are real Kustom Cities. We had planed to go back on Toumei Highway but as we came to Yokkaichi we went on Higashi Meihando Highway to Nara to visit "Image Craft". Higashi Meihando highway has steep hills after passing Suzuka and was worried if 122 cubic inch Toyota Crowns could make it on this hill but there were no need to worry as we arrived safely at Image Craft. When we arrived to the shop, Chevy pick up was in amazing process of slammed. Image Craft has made the famous Slammed 1987 El Camino and is famous for slammed pick ups. Owner Mr. Kishihara had bout us dinner and stayed at Kobe in stead of Okayama as for the Toyota Crown, There were no trouble and cruised very nicely. The distance so far was 383 miles. |

Jack's Restaurant
| ステーキといえばJack's、札幌からScampのGin君（オートパーツ取り扱い開始しました！10月15日(日) MOTORBREATH 開催決定！）が来社したので「何が食べたい？」って聞いたら「Jack'sでステーキ」なんて調子のいい事を言うので、久しぶりにJack'sへ行ってきました。 |  |
| Jack'sはもともとは横浜中華街にあり、とっても昭和な雰囲気のレストランでした。 父に連れられてJack'sに行ったのはもう何十年も前の事、「テキを食べにいくぞ」と言う父の合言葉は子供にとっては「今日はビフテキが食べられる」って大きな喜びでした。当時ステーキは特別な食べ物でご馳走でした。そしてJack'sが凄いのは当時から醤油でステーキを提供していたのです。 |

MOONEYESの創業当時のX'mas会は必ずJack's、元町Shopからも歩いて行けたし、2Fを貸切にして頂きステーキでX'mas Dinnerを楽しんだものです。Jack'sのステーキは今でもMOONEYES スタッフ、そして僕にとっては特別なステーキなのです。 |
| オーナーはその昔、横浜の米軍キャンプの食堂で働き、料理を覚えたそうです。Jackと言う名前はその当時のオーナーのニックネームだったそうで、約50年前に横浜中華街にJack'sをオープンしたそうです。1990年、中華街の整備に伴い立ち退きを余儀なくされ、今は横浜本牧、MOONEYES Area-1のちょっと先、チー坊さんのBoogie Cafe(今度紹介しますね）をパスしてちょっと走ると左側にJack'sの小さな看板が見えてきます。 |  |

僕のお薦めはジャックス特製 サーロインステーキ ベイクド スタッフド ポテト、これ英語で書くと"Sizzling Sirloin Steak, Baked Stuffed Potato"です。僕は通ぶって「シジリングね」って言うとこのステーキが出てきます。勿論オーナーが厳選した和牛ですが、やたら霜降りのお腹が痛そうになる今風のステーキではありません。しっかり赤みもあり脂もある、昔ながらのステーキです。僕は霜降り肉は苦手なのでどっちかと言うとUSAビーフみたいのが好きですね。だからJack'ｓのステーキは大好物なのです。 |
| しかも炭火焼きですよ、炭火で焼いた分厚い肉は美味しいですよね。MOON Cafeも炭火にしたかったので当時ご主人に相談させて頂き、色々アドバイスを頂いた結果、炭火は火を安定させるのが大変なので炭火は諦めガスにしました。 |  |
| さて、メニューの付け合せはオリジナル ドレッシングのサラダ、このドレッシングがまた旨い！ソテー オニオンとベイクド ポテト、このポテトは皮ごと食べてくださいね。それに230gのステーキ、鉄板が熱いうちに醤油を掛けて頂くともう最高です。ライスかガーリック ブレッドを選べますが、迷わずガーリックブレッドを貰って下さい。それに食後にコーヒーが付いてきます。 |

| "Jack's Restaurant" Jack's is the name recall for Steaks, Gin from Scamp, Sapporo came to visit, I have asked what he wants to eat and "Jack's" he says, so I went to Jack's. Jack's is originally from China Town in Yokohama with very Old tested of Japan style atmosphere. It was some decades ago when my father took me to the Jack's, "will go and eat Teki", "Teki" means "Beef Steak" in Japanese back then, but I don't hear it now. It's old school word for aged people. His words was great joy to kids that I can have Beef Steak today. Beef Steak was very special dinner for back then, even Beef itself was very special meat for Japanese back in 50s and 60s in Japan. The great part of Jack's is that Beef Steak was served with Sho-yu(Soy Source) from back then. When MOONEYES begun, our Xmas Party was at Jack's, we could walked from old Motomachi shop and rented all second floor for party. Beef Steaks at Jack’s is still special steak for MOONEYES Staff and ME. Owner of Jack's has learned cocking while he was working in US base in Yokohama after WW II. Name of Jack's came from his nick name while he was working at restaurant in US Base and he has opened Jack's in Chinatown in Yokohama 50 years ago. 1990 Jack's had to be moved because of reconstruction in Chinatown, to Honmoku(MOON town) a little a head from Boogie Cafe a little sign is visible at left side. My recommendation is "Jack's Special Sizzling Sirloin Steak, Baked Stuffed Potato". I try to act like regulars and order "Sizzling please!" and this Steak comes to table. It's 4,500YEN which is about $40 for dinner. Owner choose Wagyu Beef(Japannese Beef) since it opened but not with Shimofuri fat that gets your stomachache like nowadays steak. Simofuri Beef is getting popular in US now. It's total different way to glow cow than US and other countries. They served beers to cow to make it fat. You can imagine too much beer make you fat, right. It's very tender and juicy, meat and fat are like sandwich style in one piece. It's like TORO at Sushi bar. You'd better taste it in New York, LA or in Japan. It's pretty expensive too! But I like plenty of red meat and fat like from Old School Steaks. I am not up for Marble fat meat and prefer US Beef! That's why I like the Jack's Steak., I recall that Jack's is using Japanese Beef, though. And its Charcoal, Steaks nice specially when thick beef steak is cooked on charcoal. I wanted to make charcoal kitchen on MOON Cafe and I was asking owner for consulting which we had decision of making it gas as it was difficult to maintain even fire strength. Side on this menu is original dressing salad and this dressing is very good. Saute onion and baked potato, this potato is better with the skin. Then 230g steak, it taste real good with soy sauce on while steel plate is hot. There is choice of Rice or Garlic bread but please choose garlic bread. Coffee will come after the dinner. That day Gin with big appetite had Italian Ice cream. This one too is classic, the one used to see in old days, Jack's Restaurant keeping Old School taste, Honmoku has still pretty much Old School living. Of course Old School restaurant must have, Shrimp cocktail is still there. I guess, shrimp wasn't popular back then like Beef for us. And wine has to be Chianti from Italy, this wine was the wine at restaurant beck then. That's Old School style restaurant. I like it very much! Lastly Jack's hidden trick is an Open kitchen with stainless steel . Polished shiny stainless steel is super clean. MOON Cafe must learn from them. Summer is over
| 9月です。夏が終わってしまいましたね。 |

| 8月中旬、台風が通過するわずか数時間前のほんのわずかな間、こんな綺麗な夕焼けを本牧で見る事が出来ました。 そして夏の終わりと共にリキシャルームも閉店してしまいました。歳が幾つになっても夏の終わりは寂しいものです。2006年も残り4ヶ月、と言ってもイベントが沢山あって結構忙しいですよ。
とあっと言う間に2006年も終わってしまいます。とりあえず今回は夕焼けをお楽しみ下さい。 追伸：MOON Cafeから9月の新メニューです（9月5日火曜日より）。 |

最初はグランド ビーフ タコス、コーン トルティアの上に炒めたグランド ビーフ（挽肉）、そしてチョップド オニオンとコリアンダー、普通ならサルサという所ですがサルサは使わずにライムを絞るところが肝です。ライムがビーフの油っぽさをぶっ飛ばし、今までに食した事のないさっぱりタコスがMOON Ground Beef Tacosです。ビールを飲みながら食べると9ピースはいけますね。秋にぴったりの爽やかタコスです。 |
| もう一つは以前紹介した三橋レストラン秘伝のワラジサイズのチキンカツが平日のランチ時間以降（15時以降）、限定5食ですが提供開始です。色々仕込みとか厨房機器の問題で、今の状態では5食くらいから始めて様子をみながら進めようと言う事となりました。名前はMOON Cafe's チキンカツ、ランチ時間を外して是非起こし下さい。これも美味しいですよ！ |  |

| "Summer is over. It's September and summer has ended. In middle August, just few hours before the typhoon pass by, There was a moment with this beautiful sunset seen at Honmoku, Yokohama. And with the end of summer came the end of Ricksha Room. End of the summer is a sad thing no matter how old one get. 4 month left for 2006 but still busy with many event.
And so 2006 will end in flash. Please enjoy the sunset. for this issue. New September menu from MOON Cafe. First is the Ground Beef Tacos. On Corn Tortia we added fried Ground Beef, Chopped Onion and Coriander, Salsa is usual but we use lime twist which is an important point. Lime twist will blow off beefs oil and makes refreshing taste Tacos which is first time to taste. That's "MOON Ground Beef Tacos". I can eat nine piece with a glass of beer. Refreshing Tacos which is Great for Autumn. Another one is previously shown MIHASHI Restaurant home made big size Chicken Cutlet. Will start serving on weekdays after lunch hours (after 3pm) with limited 5 dishes per day and see how it goes. Name is MOON Cafe's Chicken Cutlet. Please come after lunch hours. This one taste good too. MOON Cafe Original Peach pie has ended its season while great reaction were received from our customers. Apple pie is still available. |

| "The Apple pie" has returned. MOON Cafe's most popular and well known desert menu "The Apple Pie" has returned. Although it was worried that apple pie will never come back on the menu with no supply, apple pie has returned by hand made by MOON Cafe Staff under the guidance of Mihashi Restaurant, the former supplier of the apple pie. The recipes and taste are succeeded from Mihashi Restaurant with 50years of history, apple pie has new name "MOON Cafe's Mihashi Apple Pie" and will be served at MOON Cafe again. The taste of American Mum's Apple filled home made apple pie is now 500yen a piece, you can try at MOON Cafe. Also one whole pie is available with prior reservation only at 3,200yen per whole. Please try and taste them on your next visit. The Mihashi Restaurant Chicken Cutlet which I have mentioned on the last Blog is also will be inherited to MOON Cafe, right now we are practicing. | その昔、横浜 岸根には米軍キャンプがあり、そこの兵隊さん相手に商売を始めたのが50年以上前という事です。この周辺は米軍のバスが走っていたのでノースピアに勤める兵隊さんもバスに乗ってパイを食べにやってきたそうです。そしてこの岸根キャンプはベトナムWarの時は病院になっていたようでした。子供心に岸根キャンプで驚いた事は、カラフルにペイントされた爆弾の後部を利用したゴミ箱が基地内の道に置かれていた事です。爆弾の平和利用ですね。 |

| さて三橋レストランの一番人気メニューは、ワラジのように大きいチキンカツ、そしてこのApple Pieでした。 なぜ僕がこのレストランを知ったかと言うと、レストランの近所に免停の講習施設があったからです。もう30年以上も前の事ですが突然免停となり、免停の講習を受けるために渋々その地にいたのです。長い退屈な講習には昼休みがあり、昼食を三橋レストランでとった事がきっかけ、その時に食べたチキンカツとApple Pieがあまりに美味しかったのでそれからちょくちょくと通うようになったのです。米軍の兵隊さんがお客様だった事もあり、パイは本格的なUSAテイスト。アップルパイの他にバナナパイとか季節の果物を使ったパイもあり、街の洋食屋さんとはちょっと違った洋食屋さんでした。 |

| MOON Cafeをオープンする時、パイは三橋レストランと決め込み、無理をお願いし作って頂きました。その三橋レストランが6月30日をもって閉店したのです。あのチキンカツがもう食べられないと思うと寂しいです。それよりアップルパイはこれからどうなるか？しばらくの間はお休みになりますが、人気デザートですので何とか復活させるつもりです。また6月30日は横浜プリンスホテルも営業を終了、古い横浜が消えかけています。 |
| "MOON Cafe's Apple Pie" The MOON Cafe's famous apple pie was made by Mihashi Restaurant. Back in the days when the US Base existed at Yokohama Kishine, this restaurant started business back then more than 50 years ago for the American Military. There used to be Military bus running in this area so US Military people who worked in North Pier used to take a bus to taste and enjoy this apple pie. The Kisihine Camp was used as Hospital during the Vietnam war. I remember in my childhood, I was surprised to see the rear half of bomb being recycled and used as a trash can at many places in the Kishine Camp. That is a Piece-full recycle use of a bomb. Now back to Mihashi Restaurant, the best menu was a huge Chicken Cutlet and an Apple Pie. I knew this restaurant because there was a facility for driving license holders to take lecture when any one get license suspended. It was more than 30 years ago when I suddenly got my license suspended and went to the long and boring lecture which had lunch break and I happened to find Mihashi Restaurant near by. I had that huge Chicken cutlet and an Apple pie. I went to Mihashi Restaurant periodically after that. Because the US military people were good customers there, the pies served at Mihashi Restaurant was made to a real American taste. They served an apple pies and banana pies, sometimes served pies using fresh fruits of the season. Mihashi Restaurant was a unique and a little different to an ordinary western food restaurant in Japan. When opening MOON Cafe, I already had solid idea that the pie has to be made by Mihashi restaurant. I have asked Mihashi Restaurant for a big favor and asked to make an apple pie for us. Suddenly the Mihashi Restaurant has closed for good as of June 30th. It is sad to think that huge chicken cutlet is no longer available. More importantly, what will happen to the apple pie? Moon Cafe will have apple pie off from the menu for just a little while but as its our favorite and most popular desert, we will have apple pie return to our menu some how. By the way, on June 30th The Yokohama Prince Hotel was closed for good too, the Old Yokohama is fading away. |

MOON Cafeではランチが大人気です。 と言うのもMOON Cafe シェフが腕を振るい、毎日メニューが替わります。 今週の木曜日はメインディッシュに"グリルチキン w/ロースト ローズマリー トマトソース"か、ライブレッドを使った本格的"パティ メルト"が選べ、カップスープとドリンク付きで1,050円(税込)。カップスープも日替わりで、ある時はスパム入りのOkinawann Soupだったり、この日はBV チキンスープでした。毎日食べても飽きないメニューです。 勿論、定番のハンバーガーもランチメニューで提供中です。ランチは火曜～金曜日の11時30分から15時までやっていますので、横浜周辺にお越しの際は是非、食してください。 |

ムーン カフェ スタッフのカリフォルニア 食い倒れツアー
| 移転後10年を迎えるMOON Cafe。先週3日間臨時休業し、シートの張替えやフロア、キッチン内の大掃除を行いました。 また、その期間を利用しMOON Cafe スタッフとCalifornia Food ツアーを敢行したのです。日数は限られていますので、フードツアー何て生易しい呼び方では無く「食い倒れツアー」、廻るべき店の数は決まっていますから、逆に一日に何食食べれるかという感じでした。 スタッフが到着した月曜日、LAXからMOONEYES USAに直行し、まず隣のHungry Boyでブレックファストです。 多分MOONEYES USAを訪れた事のある人はここで何かしら食べた人も多いと思います。典型的なアメリカンフードですが、大体何を注文してもおいしいです。20年以上前、近くには油田がまだ多く残っていたのでそこで働く人たちで朝昼とごったがえしていました。今回は将来メニューに載せたいチョリソ＆エッグ、MOON Cafeでも提供中のパティ メルトを試食しました。ここのチョリソ＆エッグは絶品です。 ランチは軽くメキシカン テイストのチキンをファストフード店で試食し、夜はNewport Beach Fashion Island内の「Cheesecake Factory」というしっかりしたレストランでサービスの勉強を兼ねてディナーを取りました。ここは何を食べても美味しいのと量がメチャクチャ多い。そして場所柄リッチな人達も多いので、サービスがしっかりしています。ちょうど席の順番を待っていたらDrag Race, Budweiser King Teamのオーナー、Kenny Bernstainが歩いていました。 |

さて二日目は強行軍でした。LAXでほかのスタッフをピックアップし、そのままマリナデルレイ近郊のレストランで朝食を、と思ったら11時からのオープンとの事。仕方無いので次の予定の「Pann's」へ直行、今やLAに残った数少ない50年代はやりのCoffee Shopと呼ばれるレストランです。食事の内容は一般的なアメリカンフードですが、平日の朝にも関わらず満席に近いくらい盛況な店でした。ちょっと前までLAでも結構見かけたこの手のレストランも今では数少なくなり、この「Pann's」は貴重な文化的価値のあるレストランだと思います。ミートローフが美味しいですね。僕はミートローフがあるレストランにあこがれています。 |
| 次はサンセットにあるあの有名な「メルズ ドライブイン」、場所柄パーキングはバーレーとなっている事から、きっとハリウッドの人達とか訪れる事も多いのでしょう。 |  |

メルズの前にピーターセン ミュージアムにも寄りました。ちょうどYOKOHAMA Hot Rod・Custom Showから戻ったCadzzillaが展示されていました。今は「Musicians cars with Guitars」というタイトルでミュージシャンのギターと所有車を展示しています。 |
| それからUCLAのあるWestwoodではメキシカンを試食し、いきなりSouth Bay エリアへ移動し、今度は「King's Hawaiian Bread」で有名なハワイアンフードのレストラン「King's」で思いっきりオーダーを入れましたが、さすがに4軒目では胃も調子を崩ししつつあり、それぞれをTake Outのボックスに入れて持ち帰るはめになってしまいました。僕はさすがにDinnerはパスしましたが彼らはその後、Irvineにある「Island」というハンバーガーレストランに行き、しっかり食事をしたそうですから若さでしょうか。 |  |
| 最終日はペースを落とし、ランチに会社周辺のメキシカンに行きました。ここはお勧めのメキシカンで、何を食べても美味しいのでランチは長蛇の列です。ブリート、タコス、タコサラダ、ファヒータ等、5人で一通り注文しましたが、結局全て食べ切ってしまいました。この日彼らはSo Cal, NHRAミュージアムに行き、その後は食材屋やレストラン関係機器を売っている店（東京の河童橋みたい）を廻り、DinnerはMOONEYES USA スタッフとステーキハウスで食事をし、最終日を無事終えました。 |

が帰国の朝、まだ終わっていません。隣のハングリーボーイでもう一度ブレック ファストを取り帰路についたのです。
いつかMOON Cafeでブレックファストを始めたいと思ってます。天気の良い週末の早朝、散歩がてらに立ち寄れるCoffee Shopが近所にあってもいいですよね。そんな余裕のあるブレックファストが取れるともっと心も豊かになると思います。 さて、これからこのツアーで試食したメニュー数点、MOON Cafeのニューメニューで提供開始される予定です。是非楽しみにしていてください。 |
| "MOON Cafe Staff on California Food Tour" It has already been 10 years since MOON Cafe has moved to its current place and using 3 days of temporary holiday on last week, all seat were reupholstered and floors and kitchen were specially cleaned up. Also using this period I went on California Food Tour with MOON Cafe Staff. With limited days of Tour and long wish list of tasting, the question was how much one can eat in a day and it was not easy as "Food Tour" but more like "Extravagance in Food Tour". Staff arrived at L.A.X. on Monday, went straight to MOONEYES USA and took Breakfast at "Hungry Boy" next door. I think many people who have visited MOONEYES USA probably had something to eat at this store. They serve popular American food and what ever you order foods are usually good there. Back in 20 years ago when surrounding was full of an Oil field, The Hungry boy used to be filled with workers from breakfast and lunch. On this tour we tried "Choliso and Egg" which we wish to add to our menu on future and "Patty Melt" which is currently served at MOON Cafe. The Hungry boys' "Choliso and Egg" taste really nice and is rarity. Tour tried Chicken at Mexican Fast Food for light lunch and for dinner and studying services went to restaurant called "The Cheese Cake Factory" in Fashion Island, Newport Beach. The food at "The Cheese Cake Factory" is all nice and comes in big sizes and with its location full of Rich customers, so its also famous for good service. While we were waiting for our table, The owner of Drag Race "Budweiser King Team" Mr.Kenny Bernstain was walking in. The Second day was a Hard schedule day. After picking up another Staff at LAX, our plan was to take breakfast at restaurant in Marina Del Ray but since it was open from 11am, we went on to Next plan at "Pann's"which was one of few surviving Coffee Shop from 50s' in LA. Even though the food at "Pann's" are typical American foods, it was prosperous with seats almost full from early weekdays morning. The "Pann's" is valuable from aspect of culture as loss of these popular style Restaurant style left "Pann's" as remain few in LA area. The Panns' Meat Loaf taste good. I admire the restaurant with nice Meat Loaf. Next was famous "Mels' Drive in" on Sunset Blvd near Hollywood, imagine the people from Hollywood comes here too as they have Vallet parking service. We have visited "Petersens Museum" before Mels'. Cadzzilla which has returned from "The YOKOHAMA Hot Rod Custom Shown 2005" was displayed. Now Petersen museum had Show cased under title of "Musicians cars with Guitars". Than we tried Mexican food at Westwood where UCLA is and went down in South Bay Area to Hawaiian food restaurant called "King's" which is famous for "Hawaiian Bread". We ordered plenty of foods but as it was the forth meal our stomach was going bazaar and took most of food back in the Take Out Box. I skipped the dinner on that night but it must be the Young age, the Staff continued on tour and had dinner at Hamburger restaurant called "Island" at Irvine. Last day we took it easy and went to Lunch at Mexican food near by our office. This Mexican restaurant is really recommendable and full of people with long line for buying a lunch. Burito, Tacos, Taco Salada and Fajitas were ordered for five of us and amazingly all dishes were cleared. On same day Tour went to So Cal Speed shop, NHRA Museum, looked around in Food supply and restaurant facility supply stores(It's like stores in Kappa-bashi in Tokyo, Japan) and had dinner with MOONEYES USA Staff at Steak House to conclude the last day. But on the morning of going home, The Tour was not over without breakfast at The Hungry Boy again. I wish to serve Breakfast at MOON Cafe Someday. It's always nice to have a Cafe in neighborhood, so you can drop by taking an early morning walk on the sunny weekend. Nice relaxing breakfast makes our heart more warm and rich. So, in short while MOON Cafe will be serving New Menus based on Menus tasted on this FOOD Tour. Please look forward to the New Menus. |

| "MOON Cafe's Original Honmoku Chowmein" MOON Cafe's has changed Beer Glass to New ones! Its' Heavy, Large and Made in USA. Since this new glass came in, I am always looking forward to having a Glass of Beer. This glass makes people very happy. The side menu that makes this Glass of Beer more present is the "Honolulu Chowmein（Pan Fried Noodle)" my original version. My original version? "Honolulu Chowmein"s' ingredients are Noodle, Spam, Naruto-maki (boiled fish paste white with pink spiral design-called "Nonoji in English by old Japanese American) and two scoops of steamed rice, yum! sound good, ha!! While cooking "Honolulu Chowmein", Water is added to make noodle softer. My original version is plain noodle fried with soy sauce. It's fried with no water to make it crispy. Its' simple and taste really good with beer. I think we should give a name to my original version. Since "Honolulu Chowmein" was custom made from my original version and as it was made in "Honmoku" Yokohama Japan, We will call my original version as "Honmoku Chowmein". Writing about it makes me want to go to MOON Cafe. Please visit MOON Cafe and have a glass of beer and Chowmein! If you feel like having "Honmoku Chowmein" and a glass of beer, Please ask MOON Cafe staff quietly for ordering as it is not listed on the menu. Hope, they could cook it for you. Cheers! |
