これは Driveway Safety Marker って言いまして、 リフレクターが付いた棒を視界の悪い所に差しておく為にあります。

This is called a Driveway Safety Marker. It's a long rod that has a reflector attached to the tip for visibility.
Doesn't the blue sky match with the reflector.

Retirement!

定年！　
昨日 以前努めていた元上司を囲む会がありました。
同僚と話していると来月60歳になるので何と来月一杯で定年退職となると言うではありませんか。
もしあのまま勤めていれば後３年で僕も定年と言う事です。
同期に入社した人は沢山いましたが定年迄勤め上げたのは彼と元上司の２人だけ、 お疲れさまでした。
先日免許証の書き換えのハガキが来ました。 中に「70歳以上の方は...」 とあり　
お！ 後13年経てば70歳じゃん！ って驚いたばかりです。
歳は確実に追って来ています。

さて年齢の事は置いておいて 明日は 26回目のSCNです。 限りなく 1,000台に近いクルマが集まり、 100軒の
Swap Meet 等が軒を連ねる事になりそうです。 搬入に時間が掛かると思いますので強い忍耐力でご協力お願いします。
また周辺には新しい商業施設も出来たので
昨年迄とは周辺の交通事情も違い混雑が予想されます。 早めのお出かけをお勧めします。
天気も良さそうなのでノンビリ、 楽しい一日を皆様と過ごしましょう。

Retirement!
Yesterday I got together with some old colleagues from my old job.
Speaking with them, the topic of retirement came up as next month one of them turns 60 and will have to retire. Come to think of it, if I had stayed at that company, I'd have to retire in three years. We all started work there at the same time but only 2 people, a colleague and one superior, stayed there until retirement age.

The other day I received my Driver's License renewal in the mail. In the instructions it had something like, "For those ages 70 and older..."!
Oh! I have 13 more years before I'm 70! I was surprised.
Age certainly comes suddenly.

Now then, setting aside my age, tomorrow is the 26th Annual Street Car Nationals (SCN). There are close to 1,000 cars entered in the show and 100 Swap Meet vendors. Getting into the event area might take some time depending on the crowd so please come early and thank you for your patience. General admission is 1,000 yen (children under 12 are free).

If you are driving to the event, please note that there are new businesses and buildings in the area and Sunday traffic might be heavy. We have maps posted on our website that may be helpful. Please drive carefully.
The weather forecast looks to be excellent too. Have a good time and enjoy the day with us.

Reyn Spooner/MQQN Equipped Shirts の続き

商品見る
Black Body は MQQNEYES USA 20th Anniversary の限定品と以前ブログで紹介しましたが
White Body も厳密に言うと限定品です。 Black Body は 200枚、 White は 400枚、
Reyn Spooner製 MQQN Equipped Shirts は全世界で 600枚しかない限定シャツなのです。
今後も White Body の MQQN Equipped Shirts は作るかもしれませんが Reyn Spooner製 は今回限りです。

The black base shirt is a MQQNEYES USA 20th Anniversary limited edition version, which I posted about recently but the white base shirt is still very much limited as well. The black base is limited to just 200 while the white is limited to 400 made. Reyn Spooner produced MQQN Equipped Shirts are limited worldwide to only 600.
Perhaps we will make a white version MQQN Equipped Shirt some time in the future but for this special Reyn Spooner batch, this is it.

正月ボケ

正月ボケですっかり曜日の感覚がなくなりブログ忘れていました。

Still in a New Year's daze, I completely forgot what day of the week it was and didn't post anything to the blog.

Reyn Spooner/MQQN Equipped Shirts

Hawaii Reyn Spooner 社製の MQQN Equipped Pullover Button Down Collar Shirts が入荷しました!!
あの Hawaiian Shirts で有名な Reyn Spooner 製です。 これ以上の Shirts はもう作れません。
Black Base は MQQNEYES USA 20th Anniversary 記念シャツで全世界で 200枚!
縫製はどこでされたかと言うとお隣の韓国、 生地は日本製です。
ハワイでの縫製が云々と言う方は残念ですが諦めて下さい。
何処で作られようが Reyn Spooner/MQQN Equipped Shirts 最高の一枚です。
サイズは XS～XL、 Reyn's の Hawaiian Shirts をベースにしていますので
XS は S位、 ワンサイズ大きい感じでいて下さい。なので XL は 2X 位の感じです。
焦らずゆっくり販売して行きたいシャツです。

The sewing work was done next door in Korea, while the fabric was made here in Japan.
Unfortunately, we did not have them made in Hawaii.
In either case, the final result was the highest quality Reyn Spooner/MQQN Equipped Shirts.
Reyn's Hawaiian Shirts base sizes are XS to XL which are big for Japanese size.
For example, a size XS is equal to a size S in Japan. It's one size bigger. The XL is more like a 2X.
These are now available but limited so we hope they will last in stock for a while.

New Vans/MQQNEYES Shoes will be available at Hot Rod Custom Show 2011!

12月4日（日）パシフィコ ヨコハマ で開催の 第20回 Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show 2011 で発売開始となります。
MQQNEYES ブース 及び ABC Mart ブースで 通常は税込み 6,090円ですがショー会場では6,000円で販売します。
MQQN Logo 入りの Shoelace (靴ひも) & Shoehorn (靴べら)、 そして Special Design Box、 特別な１足、 日本販売限定商品です。
New design, VANS x MQQNEYES shoes go on sale beginning December 4 (Sunday) during the 20th Annual Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show at the Pacifico Yokohama, Japan.
The shoes will be available at select ABC Marts (shoe stores) in Japan for 6,090 Yen but during the event, it will be on sale at the ABC Mart booth and MOONEYES booth for 6,000 Yen.

Bonneville World Final 2011 に行っていた #533 Car and Chico ですが
悪天候の為 Race は中止となり戻ってくるそうです。
挑戦は来年に持ち越されました。
Chico and the #533 modified roadster headed to Bonneville World Finals this week however, the bad weather prevented them from racing and the event was canceled. They are heading home.
He will have to wait until next year to take the challenge.

Bonneville Speed Week Part II

Day 6, 8月 17日(水) 遂に 220.898mph を出し、 このクラスのレコード 219mph を超えました。
レコードは 2回走った平均を取る事になるので 2回目の Run は翌日の朝 7時からとなります。
走行中 Rocker Arm が一つ外れてしまっていた事、 それが無ければもう少し記録を延ばす事が出来ただろうとの事。
幸い大きな修理が必要そうでは無いので明日の Record Run も支障ないだろうと思っていたけど。。
Afternoon Day 6, August 17 (W) [Chico] made a 220.898mph pass, which makes him a contender for the class record which is currently 219mph.
However, in order to make a record, you must complete a two run average. You make one pass and turn around and make another pass within a limited time frame. The average of the two speeds are the official run. When you make a potential speed record on the first pass, you have to wait until the following morning at 7AM for the return run.
It was discovered that during the last run, a Rocker Arm came off. So perhaps it would have been possible to go even faster had it not came off.
Everyone was happy because the Rocker Arm would be a required fix but not a major task. They'd handle the fix in the morning before the Record Run.


記録を出した Race Car は BNI の Official により Regulation 違反がないか入念にチェックされます。
Any race car that is in line for a record run gets inspected by a BNI Official to make sure it's in regulation specifics for its class.


Inspection が終了すると 『Inspected」 のステッカーが貼られ、 整備しても良い時間も 12:56 と明記され それまでに整備を終わり、 車は Impound されます。 翌日の Record Run に出る車は Impound Area と呼ばれる立ち入り禁止エリアで翌日まで保管されます。
After the inspection, it gets an "Inspected" sticker and a time (12:56) written on it indicating how time the race car can be worked on. Once the time expires, maintenance must stop and the car is impounded. The impound is where the race car stays until its record run the next day. No one is allowed into the impound area.


Race Car は Impound Area にあり手も付けられないので今日は一日 Shop 店長です。
With the race car in the impound area and not being able to work on it, Chico spent the day behind the counter at the MOONEYES shop trailer.

Day 7, Last Day 8月18日(木) いよいよ Record Run の朝です。 夜明け前から最終チェックに入っています。
Morning Day 7, Last Day August 18 (Thu), time for the Record Run. Before the sunrise, checks and final checks were being made.


あと 5分で誘導が始まります。
Showtime in five mintues.


Record Run！しかし！
残念ながら昨日壊した Rocker Arm がまた外れ Power が上がらず完走せずリタイヤとなりました。
Rocker Arm の損傷は見た目よりシリアスでヘッドに埋め込まれ入るスタッドにまで達していたそうです。
まぁ こうやって一年一年、時間が経ち記録を求め何十年の Bonneville 通いが続くのですね。
One Way ですが 220mph を出せて良かったです。
Dean MOON も MOONBEAM で One Way 200mph Over を出していますが Record Run がふるわず
クラスレコードを超えられず、また 200 Mile Club にも名前を残す事は出来ませんでした。
Bonneville は一筋縄では行きませんね。
2011 Bonneville Speed Week は幕を閉じました。
RECORD RUN! However...
Unfortunately, the rocker arm that came off the day before came off again but this time at the beginning of the run so there was no power. Visually the damage doesn't look too serious but the rocker arm stud that mounts to the head was pulled out. But, this is what it is. Year after year, again and again, the quest for speed is what brings them back to Bonneville every time.
One way speed of 220mph is awesome.
Dean MOON in the MOONBEAM was clocked in a one way run of over 200mph but on the Record Run, he never beat the class record, and also never made it officially into the 200 Mile Club.
Bonneville is not an ordinary place.
2011 Bonneville Speed Week is now over.

Bonneville Speed Week 2011

こういう今も Speed Week の真っ最中です。
Staff の "PAN" Sumi君から送られて来た画像で進めて行きます。
We are right in the middle of Speed Week.
MOONEYES Staff, "PAN" SUMI has been sending us images and here they are.


California の Shop から Wendover まで約 12時間の Long Drive 近そうで遠い距離です。
From the shop in California to Wendover, Utah it takes about 12 hours which is a very long drive.


到着!!
Arrived!!


Pitを作り今日は終わり。
Today, they setup the pit and called it a day.


昔は見かけない光景でしたが Swap Meet も有った様です。
This is something you never saw a long time ago, there was a Swap Meet there.


夕方から恒例の Cruise Night が Nevada 側にある State Line Hotel で開催されます。Wendover と言う街はネバダ州とユタ州の州境が街を２分している為、ネバダ側に行くとギャンブルも楽しめます。
From the evening, it's tradition to have a Cruise Night at the State Line Hotel on the border. Wendover is split into two by the border one part is Utah and the other is Nevada. On the Nevada side you can gamble too.

Staging Area は Long Line, Bonneville 名物、順番を待つ渋滞。
The stating area has a long line. This is what Bonneville is also famous for, the waiting.


走行中突然 Motor が止まってしまったそうです。 原因究明中。
During the run, suddenly the motor just quit. Now they were troubleshooting.


Day 1 終わりました。
Day 1 was over.


Bonneville でしか購入できない記念 Tシャツとステッカー。

Day 2 も終了間際、 雲行きが怪しいです!
Day 2 finished. The clouds didn't look very good!


Motel に戻ったら大雨、 コースは大丈夫でしょうか？
塩の上に降る雨は塩の吸い込みが悪いので溜まってしまいます。
もしそうなっているとレースは中止、 過去に何度なくありましたが
最近の異常気象のせいでしょうか Bonneville で降られた事余りませんでした。
街で降って、 コースは降っていないケースを祈るしかありません。
When they got back to the motel, it was pouring rain. The course was in question. The rain will get sucked down into the salt and ultimately will cause the races to be closed down and canceled. With the unusual weather at Bonneville, it could be possible that it's not raining on the course and that's what everyone was hoping. If so, the races will continue.

Day 3、 コースは大丈夫そうです。
Day 3, the course was fine.


コースへのは入り口は雨が溜まり湖になっていました。
At the course entrance, there was a lot of water, like a lake.


Day 4、 太陽が降った雨に反射し何ともBonnevilleです。
Day 4, The sun setting and being reflected off the water looking nothing like Bonneville.


Honda が 2台です。 雨でレースが中止になるのは辛いですがこれはこれで撮影タイムとなり楽しい時間です。
Two Honda bikes. With the rain, the races were stopped early but you can still enjoy photography time.


コースは大丈夫だったので１回目の走行に入ります。
The course was fine so they set out for one run.


1回目 208.766マイルです。 悪くない!
でもこのクラスの Class Record は 219 MPH!!
The first run turned 208.766 MPH. Not bad!
The class record is currently 219 MPH!!


この日２回目の Try は 210.912 マイル!! 悪くない。
On the second run, the speed was 210.912 MPH!! Not bad.


今日も終わりです。
The day was over.

デフギアを交換し１回目の Try、 208.971 マイルでした。
遅くなっちゃいました。　こうやって１週間が過ぎ、1年が過ぎ、
気が付くと 20年、30年は当たり前、記録を目指し Racer は Bonneville に帰って来るのです。
The differential gear was swapped, which resulted in a 208.971 MPH run.
It made the car run slower. With limited places to run, this process of adjusting takes a long time. It's almost been a week now. A year since last Speed Week. Next think you know, 20-30 years of adjusting. Each racer does this and keeps coming back to Bonneville to get that land speed record.


2回目のTryは　スピン！　今日はこれで終わりです。
On the 2nd run, Chico spun! The day was over.

Anique? 古い、ビンテージの話

今回は MOONEYES USA にある古い物特集です。
今度来店される際はよーく見て行って下さい。
それとなく古い物があっちこっちにあります。
Dean が残した物は何一つ捨てていません。
今もそのまま使っている物も沢山あります。
全て現役です。
This post features a lot of the old antiques that have been collected over time here at MOONEYES USA. Next time you are here for a visit, be sure to look for them.
There are a lot of old things all over the place too.
Everything that Dean MOON left behind was kept and nothing was thrown away.
Even now, there are a lot of things that are still in use.
All of it is still active duty.

下の黄色丸に MOON Equipped も今はありません。
このキャビネットも古いです。
The sticker above was made before MOON Equipment Company had a Santa Fe Springs address.
The round yellow sticker below it with MOON Equipped is no longer made.

Roadster のホイルは MOON Discs ではありません。
The wheels on the Roadster don't have MOON Discs.


ここは７０年代のステッカー、 上のインテークは
Big Block Chevy 様 Weber Down Draft Intake です。
These are all 70s era stickers, the intake manifold on top is for a big block Chevy, Weber Down Draft setup.

The garage door is from the 50s, it's incredibly heavy.


中央の MOON Discs は Mickey Thompson's Challenger に装着されていた物。
手前のつぶれた MOON Fuel Tank は Dragster でひっくり返った時の物です。
このキャビネットも勿論古いです。
The MOON Disc in the center was actually used on Mickey Thompson's Challenger. In front of that, the crushed MOON Fuel Tank is from the Dragster when it flipped over. The cabinet is obviously old.

This is Tim's Rikuo (Japanese side-valve Harley), behind it is Wade's Sportster.

Showcase with instruments by a company called US Gauge. Old MOON Gauges were made by them.

"MOONEYES & Friends" Charity-「ムーンアイズ & フレンズ チャリティ-」

25回目の SCN まで約 2週間です。 チャリティー内容がほぼ決定しました。
The 25th SCN is about 2 weeks away. The Charity details have been just about complete.

1. 今回 25回目と言う事で皆様から頂戴しましたエントリー代総合計の25%を義援金に寄付します。
1. First off, it's the 25th Annual so we are donating 25% of the grand total collected in entry fees to charity.

2. HCS 等に USA から来日した方々から「是非日本の方々の為に何か出来る事はないか」
と口々にありがたい言葉を頂戴し、
彼らから寄せられた品物で "MOONEYES & Friends" と言うチャリティーオークションを開催します。
会場で１１時と１３時の２回行う予定です。
来週USAに行きそれぞれから頂戴して来る予定です。
2. After 3/11 we received a lot of messages from HCS guests and friends from around the world, first checking to see if we were all right and next offering any help that was needed. We were grateful for the kindness of everyone. We were fine and wanted to do something to help as well so we decided to create "MOONEYES & Friends" charity auction at the show. 20" Saturn MOON Disc for Next Generation

進行中のProject Carに どうしても 20" Saturn MOON Discを履きたいので　
ルックスはどうでも良くただ安いホイルをUSAで探していたら
ありました 20"ホイルが何と $320、それも１本じゃなくて４本です。
もちろんNew! こう言うのがあるのですね。驚きの金額です。
でもホイルのセンターが出っ張っているので
The Project Car we are currently working on needs to have 20" Saturn MOON Discs, no matter what.
The main thing is to find cheap 20" wheels in the USA and after a while, we found a full set for $320, not just 1 but 4 wheels.
Also, this price is for NEW! You really can find great deals. It's a shocking price.
The only down side for us is the center hub sticks out.


そのままでは New Generation MOON Disc-Saturn を装着できません。
だからセンターを削ってしまいました。
As is, the New Generation MOON Discs (Saturn) will not go one flush.
So we had to grind down the center of the wheel.


これでOK! その加工代が ４本で $200。
ホイルと加工代で $540、 1本 $135がベースとなる20"の金額です。
これだったら惜しむ事なくベースとして使えますね！
ベースの 20" ホイルが高くて 20" Saturn MOON Disc を装着したいけど
二の足を踏んでいる方解決方法が見つかりました。
Now we are good to go! The grinding down for four wheels cost $200 (all four).
Our running total on the wheels is $540, 1 wheel is $135, but still these are 20" wheels.
Event with the altered appearance, these are base wheels that will be cover anyway!
If the base 20" wheels were expensive, using 20" Saturn MOON Discs to cover them would be difficult but having hesitated, we eventually found a solution with these cheap wheels.

The Saturn MOON Disc covers the entire wheel like this, as seen from behind.


そして Dzus Fastner ですから脱着も簡単！
It will be mounted with Dzus Fasteners making it easy to remove.

MIM #6 制作開始！ - MIM #6 Production Start!

MOON Illustrated Magazine Volume 6 (MIM#6) の制作に取り掛かりました。
発売予定は 11月 15日 (月), 後一ヶ月しかないのにまだ何も進んでいません。
Be began the initial planning for MOON Illustrated Magazine Volume 6 (MIM#6).
It is tentatively set for release on Novermber 15, 2010 (Monday) which means we have about 1 month to get it done even though it's not ever started really.

Zap が撮影した MOONEYES Summer Show, 今年の HCS にやってくる No Regrets Car Club Member Steve Wilk の Chevy S-10, Falcon Motorcycles が制作した Triumph "Kestrel Falcon", Mark Drews も彼独特のセンスで作り上げた Triumph 等を大きく取り扱う予定です。
Content will include photos of MOONEYES Summer Show taken by Zap, HCS guests like No Regrets Car Club Member Steve Wilk and his Chevy S-10, Falcon Motorcycles "Kestrel Falcon" Triumph as well as Mark Drews' show bike Triumph built in his own unique sense and style.


「Custom Memory」はあの Orange County International Raceway (OCIR) で取り貯めた画像を 6ページで紹介しようと思っています。 その外食いしん坊角君による横浜洋食屋巡りとか MOON Fan のお宅拝見など秋に発売の偶数号は読み物が豊富です。
カタログは 4月発売の ＃５号以降に発売された商品が中心となります。

Other articles and topics include "Custom Memory" which I write about a number of photos I kept over the years from Orange County International Raceway (OCIR). I'm thinking about 6 pages worth just for that. MOONEYES Staff Live to Eat, Eat to Live Sumi will create an article about Western style eateries in Yokohama. We also have a new MOON Fan article. As you may know, the previous MIM was the full catalog version so MIM#6 will be heavy on content. Of course, all the new products that have been released since April will be included as well.

Hot Rod Custom Show 情報 (Info)

2010 Hot Rod Custom Show まで 2ヶ月無くなりました。
今年の新企画をおしらせします。
We are just under two months away from the 2010 Hot Rod Custom Show.
Here are the new categories/sections for the show:

1. Forever Multi Palace
3気筒以上のマルチエンジンがベースの Chopper, Bobber and Cafe を集めたパレスを展開します。
This section will be choppers, bobbers, custom and cafe style motorcycles with 3-cylinder or more based engines, considered multi-cylinder, are displayed together.

2. Street Truck Slammed Zone
車高が極限まで下げられた Street Truck 等を対象としたスラムゾーン。
This area will be dedicated to street trucks that are lowered out to the maximum limit possible from mini to full size.


3. Motorcycle Fuel Tank Paint Contest
カスタムペイントされたバイクのガソリンタンクのコンテストです。
As the title suggests, exhibit of motorcycle tanks that have been entered in this paint contest will be on display throughout the show.

4. Tribute to Robert Williams and Suzanne Williams
Kustom Kulture の Top, Robert Williams の来日を記念し 13名の日本人 Artists による作品の展示/販売。どれも力作ばかりです。
The top of the food chain in the Kustom Kulture world, Robert Williams and Suzanne Williams will be special guests and there will be a Tribute area where 13 Japanese artists have created a gallery to exhibit.

もちろん Robert の '32 Ford Roadster & Suzanne の '34 Ford Sedan も展示されます。
Also, as mentioned about, Robert's '32 Ford Roadster and Suzanne's '34 Ford Sedan will be on display together too.

昨年大好評だった Collectivities Alley もより多くのブースを展開予定です。

MOON BOOK

MOON BOOK の日本語訳ができたのに、肝心の本がヨーロッパからまだ到着しない。
相手は送ったと言って早くも２ヶ月経過 何時届く事やらどこへ行っちゃた事やら。
しかも航空便だと言う？
We recently finished making a MOON BOOK Japanese edition booklet that will be included with all MOON Books we well. The book is in English but written by French photographer Laurent Bagnard so the actual shipment of the stock has to come from Europe. Unfortunately, the books have not arrived yet. The books were sent from Europe easily 2 months ago when it first released. This was sent via air too?

しかし日本語訳もかなり無理のある箇所があるので読む方は想像力を豊かにお願いします。
The translation into Japanese was difficult to do in the short amount of time we thought we initially had and as a result, takes a lot of imagination to fully understand what is being read.

今まで誰にも聞かれなかった MOON Equipment Companyを買収した経緯とかなぜ MOON USA を運営しようと思ったのかとか色々な質問を答えて行くうちに「ヨーロッパのライターだから色々不思議に思う事もあるだろうけどアメリカ ＆ 日本の人に取っては気にもならなかった事なのかも知れない」と思いました。
A lot of details in the book are about MOON Equipment Company and why and how MOON USA management changed over time. Perhaps it is because MOONEYEs is relatively new to the European market, I'm not sure, but it seems that Japanese and Americans have known these things about MOON long ago.

話しているウチに色々な事が思い出され整理され初めて話す事ばかり。
終わってみると自分自身も「そうだったんだな」って再認識する始末でした。
As the book was being made, there were things I talked about that I never really thought about other than to myself. Now that the book is complete and I read though it all, it brings back a lot of memories.

VANS Shoes

21日火曜日 VANS Shoes の広告の撮影で鎌倉に来ていた VANS Staff 一同が MOONEYES Area-1 に仕事の合間を見て来店しました。
On Tuesday Sept. 21, the VANS Staff stopped by MOONEYES Area-1 for a visit after a photo shoot in Kamakura for VANS Shoes.

Dean MOON 時代に作られた VANS Shoes を嬉しそうに撮影、MOONEYES と Vans は Dean MOON 時代からのお付き合い、つい最近でも Vans/MOONEYES Shoes が発売されていました。
They were delighted to take photos of a pair of original VANS when Dean MOON first teamed up with Vans Shoes. Vans and MOON have been connected a long time and even released Vans Shoes a couple years ago.


そのうちバイクを乗り回しそれを撮影するカメラマン？
After that they took photos riding around MOONEYES on a bike.


ほぼ全員がカメラを持っているので誰が本当のカメラマンか分かりません。
と嵐のように去って行きました。
Oh the cameraman? Virtually all the staff had top notch cameras and they were all taking pictures so I didn't know who the main camera was. But as soon as they came, they were gone like a passing storm.

MOON Book by Laurent Bagnard

MOONEYES USA ができて20年、Dean MOON の時代から MOONEYES USA の今に至るまでが詳しく書かれた、フランス写真家　Laurent Bagnard の「MOON Book」今まで MOON に関する本や記事は沢山ありましたがこの1冊は素晴らしいです。
欧州人の Laurent だから作れた1冊、日本語訳付きで9月初旬発売予定です。
価格は 5,000円位、まだ決定ではありません。

It's been almost 20 years since MOON was restarted as MOONEYES USA. From the days when Dean MOON began the company in the 50s, up until today's current MOONEYES, the complete details have finally been put completely together in a new book by French photographer Laurent Bagnard called, MOON BOOK. There are a lot of stories about MOONEYES and several books have been made about the company and history too. However, this is the first book that actually starts at the very beginning with Dean Moon, and shows the transition that is MOONEYES today. It's a spectacular book with a lot of first-time published photos too.
Laurent is releasing the book out of Europe, and a Japanese language insert will be made for the initial release in Japan some time in September.
The price is not set for Japan yet but will be around 5,000 Yen.

MOON Book 製作進行中です。

続 DVD 撮影

DVD Filming Part Two

まだ真っ暗な Pacific Coast HWY (PCH) をひた走り 朝6時 Long Beach に近い Belmont Shore の Pier (桟橋) にて HCS09 DVD の撮影に立会ました。
It was still dark when we were on Pacific Coast HWY (PCH) and close to Long Beach in Belmont Shore Pier at 6:00 in the morning for some filming for the HCS09 DVD.

Producer は Gabe 桟橋を走るシーンが Take 1、もちろんそんな所をバイクが走って良い訳ありませんから皆で打ち合わせしてました。
The Producer was Gabe, for the scene and they were planning Take 1, which was to ride on the along the pier. Of course, I don't know whether it's allowed with motorcycles but it looks as if they were in a serious group meeting.

途中にはこの様にカメラが設置されていますし。
Along the pier was this security camera mounted in place.

「朝早いと言ってもねー」と辺りの様子をうかがうことしばし、ヨシGo!
"Even though we're here in the early morning, it doesn't matter." As they checked the situation for a short time, all of a sudden, ready-Go!

バイクに乗る Mark と Gabe、撮影する Toru 君を桟橋に残し僕と Makoto は不測の事態に備え駐車場から見ていました。
Mark and Gabe were on their bikes, Toru was working the camera on the pier and Makoto and I were safe at a distance watching the situation unfold from the parking lot.

楽しみだった不測の事態は起こらず Take 1 は終了。彼らはTake 2を撮る為に次の場所へ移動して行きました。これ以上 Gabe の Produce には付き合っていたら本当に不測の事態が起きそうなので僕は Long Beach Swap Meet へ向いました。

That was exciting and without any further incident Take 1 was complete. Take 2 was planned in another location so it was on to the next spot. I was almost sure that if Gabe continued being the producer, something was surely going to happen, so I headed to the Long Beach Swap Meet instead.

NEW MOON Oil Tank

Harley用 New Oil Tank MP1006 ができました。
容量は約 4L、MOON Tank Bracket は使わずに取り付けとなります。
そのためにステー3個、スクリュー、ワッシャー等3セット、ラバーブッシュ3個、オイルドレインボルト1個、

ドイツの関根君からメールが来ました。　本当はNobbi君なんですが奥様が日本の方で
ドイツで暮らしドイツの大きなﾊｰﾚｰの部品卸会社に2人で勤めいます。
関根君とはイタリアで会ったのですが　彼は大のMOONEYES Fanそして日本が大好きだそうです。
その関根君がイタリアからドイツに帰る時　MOON Emergency Fuel Tankを上げたのです。
I got a message from my friend Nobbi from Germany. I mentioned him in a recent blog post, his wife is from Japan. They live in Germany and work for a large Harley parts wholesale company.
I met him during my trip to Italy but he has always been a big fan of MOONEYES and of course, he also loves Japan. They rode on motorcycles from Italy back to Germany and I gave him a MOON Emergency Fuel Tank when they were leaving.

In his message, he also sent a couple pictures. The photos were taken in Sweden at a gas station on their way home. Below is the message that accompanied the pictures. I'm sure those that use this already know but it's a big relief to have this extra bottle handy. With the recent hot weather, please don't forget to release the air pressure before you open the gas cap!

Freeway　そしてついに完成2009年MOONEYES Catalog/MOON Illustrated Magazine #3

15日（水）日本へ帰るため、まず 1985 El CaminoでMOONEYES USAへ寄ってからLAX(LA Int'l Airport)へ向いまいした。
Returning back to Japan on the 15th (Wed), first I made a visit to MOONEYES USA in this 1985 El Camino then headed to LAX (LA Int'l Airport).

会社へ向かうFreeway(FWY)上でDodge Challengerを発見。最近こう言う人気ないMuscle Car見かけなくなりました。
On the Freeway (FWY) heading for the shop, I saw this Dodge Challenger. You don't see very many of this type of Muscle Car anymore.

このタイヤの細さとかサイドモールデイング、レザートップ、70年代していますね。もしかするとベンチシートでコラムA/Tかも知れないなんて勝手に想像しながら写真を撮りました。
The narrow tires, full side molding, black vinyl top, it's totally 70's era. As I took pictures, the thought of it having a bench seat and column A/T came to mind.

サイドミラーに映った姿が映画みたいです。
The picture of the car in my side mirror looks like something from a classic movie.

会社からLAXに向うFWYからはこれから乗る予定の飛行機が着陸態勢に入っていました。
From the shop I headed for LAX and while on the FWY I saw the airplane I planned on flying coming in for a landing.

LAXで下ろしてもらってチェックイン、一路成田へです。
I was dropped off at LAX check-in, for a one way flight to Narita.

成田到着は翌日の16日（木）、この日はMOON Illustrated Magazine(MIM)#3が会社に納品される日、そしてこのMIM#3の完成打ち上げDinnerをMOON Space Agency（広告部）関係者と一緒にSoy Sauceステーキで有名な Jack's レストランで開きました。
Arrival in Narita is a day later on the 16th (Thurs), which is the day that MOON Illustrated Magazine (MIM) #3 stock will be delivered. In the evening that night, to celebrate the completion and launch of MIM#3, Moon Space Agency (Advertising) had Soy Sauce Steak Dinner at the famous Jack's Restaurant.

Long Beach Motorcycle Swap Meet

Southern California , Long Beachで毎月開催される（今年から毎月）Long Beach Swap Meetに
MOONEYESも出店していますがこの所少しづつではありますが認知されてきたようです。
Held each month (once a month started this year) in Long Beach, southern California is the Long Beach Swap Meet. MOONEYES has a space there and although small it’s been getting noticed more recently.

と思っているとはるかかなたにMOON Cafeのパーカーを着た人が歩いているではありませんか！
結構　日本製製品が人気あります。嬉しい事に「これ日本製？」って良い響きで尋ねられのです。
Just as I thought this, off in the distance I spotted someone wearing a MOON Cafe hooded jacket! Japanese products are reasonably popular right now. I heard the question, "Is this made in Japan?" being asked quite a bit.

まずMOONEYES Wildman石井デザインのMotorcycle Tシャツの人気は凄い！
However, MOONEYES Wildman designed Motorcycle T-shirts were amazingly popular!

そしてこのハンドル実は、IM Factoryさんが作ってくれているのですが、注目度かなり高いです。
These handlebars were also popular. These are made by IM Factory in Japan and get a lot of attention.

Brat Style製のハンドルの人気がありますし、このRat Fink SkateboardやBull Original製のMOONEYES SeatやRat Fink Seatも大人気でした。

そうしたら目の前にさっきのMOON Cafeパーカーが反対側の店で何か見ていたので
「それどうしたの？」と聞いたら「昨年のHot Rod・Custom Showに行った際に購入した」との事。ありがとうございます。
All of a sudden, right in front of me at a table across from us was the person wearing the MOON Cafe hooded jacket from earlier. I got a chance to ask him about it and he said it bought it when he was at the Hot Rod Custom Show last year. Thank you very much.

今回サンプルで持って行った5.5QTのChopper Oil Tankも注目を集めていましたし、
勿論、通常のChopper Oil Tankは根強い人気でした。
We brought a sample with us this time of the new 5.5qt Chopper Oil Tank and it got a lot of attention, of course, like a general Chopper Oil Tank would get.

USではまだ正式には発売していないEmergency Fuel TankはSampleをどうしてもと言う人が購入してくれました。
Although it's not officially released in the US, we brought our Emergency Fuel Tank and aluminum bracket sample and someone purchased it.

会場にはあふれんばかりのハーレーだったので、気になったCB500とモンキーです。
At the swap meet there was an overflow of H-D bikes but this Honda CB500 caught my eye as well as this Honda Monkey.

Swapt Meetでは昨年HCSに来日したMarkがブースを出していました。
Mark, a guest from HCS last year, had a space setup at the swap meet too.

初めのころはあまりパッとしなかったMOONEYESブースをめげることなく出店し続けてくれたYoshi君、ありがとう。
今年からこのSwap Meetは毎月になりました。数年前まで閑古鳥が鳴いていたような状況でしたが
やはり「継続」ですね。今は入りきらない位の状況です。
At first, the MOONEYES table wasn't very popular but we are thankful that Yoshi didn't run away and stuck it out.
Beginning this year, the swap meet is held once a month. A number of years ago it was struggling but they continued on. Now, it's like there isn't enough room for everyone to enter.

Yokohama JB's Food, Music & Fun

先日、以前務めていた会社の友人から「元上司が横浜関内にBarを開店したので行くけど来ない」と
お誘いを受け興味津津でお邪魔してきました。
The other day, a friend from an old job contacted me with, "An old manager opened up a bar in Yokohama and I'm going to go visit. Do you want to come?" I couldn't resist the temptation and was very interest to see the place so I went along.

The owner worked for more than 30 years in Food & Beverage at Disney. After that, he was the GM at YC&AC (http://www.ycac.net) and now he opened this bar.

そしてトイレも綺麗！だった。飲食店は味は勿論のこと、サービスも勿論、普段お客様の目には入らないキッチンが清潔かどうかを大きなカギですね。そして常に汚れるトイレも綺麗かどうかこの２点でオーナーの姿勢が分かります。
This is probably why his kitchen is so clean! And the restroom is super!
For any restaurant the taste and service is most certainly great, but a key to its success is a clean kitchen even if customs can't see it. Also, the second place is how clean the toilet is. These two represent the owner's attitude.

ライブあり、英語の勉強にもなる？横浜にお越しの際は是非行ってみてください。
オーナーの人柄が分かる素晴らしいお店です。
They have live music, maybe it will help with English studies? If you are going to be in the Yokohama area, it is recommended to make plans for a visit.
The owner's personality and character is excellent and it's a great bar.

黄色の小さいのは1970 Toyota Crown Pick Up, Chevy V-8,
Running up in front in Blue is the "Glory Rod" a 1971 Nissan Gloria with a Chevy V-8. The yellow small car is a 1970 Toyota Crown Pick Up, also with a Chevy V-8.

もう一枚はなんと　"MOON Glow" 1975 Mitsubishi Debonair です。
The other one is none other than "MOON Glow" an 1975 Mitsubishi Debonair.

3台共それぞれ健在です。
何時か集まってほしいです。

昼休みにFly Wheel 誌の及川君のブログを見ていたら
「飛行機が雨漏りで飛ばなかった」ってありました。
During lunch I was reading Fly Wheel magazine's blog by Mr. Oikawa and read about the airplane he was flying being canceled because rain was leaking into the cabin.

10年以上前の事ですが、僕の時は大雨の中、成田空港をLAに向けて滑走し飛行機が上昇し始めた途端、頭上の荷物入れ付近から隣の席へ、ドバーっとバケツをひっくり返したみたいに大量の水が落ちてきました。
It reminded me of a time about 10 years ago when a plane I was on got caught
in a rain storm on the way to LAX from Narita Airport. The plane climbed up
above the rain and all of a sudden from the overhead compartment above the
seat next to me, SPLASH! Like a bucket of water came pouring down.
本当にビックリ！でした。
That was really scary!

それでもそのままLAに飛んで行きましたが。（途中下車できない！）
「いったどこからあの水が室内に入って来たのか？」
LAまでの約9時間、機中でズーっと考えていました。やはり雨漏り以外考えられませんでした。
でも乗務員は慣れっこなのか「すみませーん今拭きますねー」って冷静だったのを覚えています。
ちなみに飛行機会社も及川君を同じでした。
However, it wasn't like we could stop anywhere as we were in-flight so the
plane continued to LA. "Where exactly did all that water come from?"
It takes about 9 hours to LA and after that incident I couldn't think of
anything else but the water leak. Maybe because of practice, I don't know,
but I remember the flight crew being very calm and helpful. Interestingly
enough, that flight was the same airlines as the one Mr. Oikawa was one.

検品 - taking QC

台湾から大量のHub Capが入荷、今朝は8時からスタッフ総出で検品です。
A large shipment of Hub Caps arrived from Taiwan, so the staff get together at 08:00 for inspection.

Hub Cap 一枚一枚、手と目で確認です。必ず数枚、場合によっては数十枚の不良品がこの作業で見つかります。もうこの作業を20年以上やっていますが今だにはじかれる商品があるのは作る側に問題ありですね。
One by one, each Hub Cap is confirmed both visually and physically. Without a fail, depending on the situation, there are several to dozens of inferior items discovered during this process. This particular duty has been done for over 20 years. Even now, the fact that defective items are present is because the manufacturing process hasn't changed.

それとも我々日本人がうるさいのでしょうか？ちなみにMOONEYES USAではやっていませんが、販売先からのクレームもありません。　
Or perhaps it's us Japanese that are too picky?
Incidentally, MOONEYES USA doesn't do this process but hasn't had any sales claims either.

久しぶりに天気も良くなったので冬の間に枯れつつあったバナナの葉っぱを切り落としました。
葉っぱを切っているのはMonkey村上君です。
It's been a while since the weather was this nice so we cut down the banana leaves that had withered over the winter. Cutting the leaves by Mr. Monkey Murakami.

昨年の冬はほぼ全壊に近く枯れてしまったのですが、今年は結構緑が残っています。
これも暖冬の影響なのでしょうか？
Last winter it almost withered entirely but this year a lot of green remains.
I wonder if this is the result of the mild winter as well?

そして17インチタイヤに入れて一安心のPan君です。
Lastly, Pan is feeling safe and sound inside 17-inch tires, look like Michelin Boy!

ダイゴ

先週のブログで紹介したBlue Maxのオーナー、中村大悟 通称「ダイゴ」
雑誌デイトナの表紙の絵を描いていたと言えば知っている方も多いと思う。
そのダイゴが先月突然他界した。　
In last weeks blog entry I introduced the owner of Blue Max, Mr. Daigo Nakamura aka DAIGO. He is also famous for the cover artwork he did for Daytona magazine. Well, that DAIGO, sadly, passed away unexpectedly last month.

彼とは中学校1年生からの付き合い、
MOON Discの発売も最初はBlue Maxだった。
We knew each other since my first year in middle school and in fact,
Blue Max was the first to carry MOON Discs from us.

[1984年頃 初めて出した広告。6ヶ月出して予算の都合中止。]
[This was the first advertisement of MOON Discs released around 1984.
It was used for about six months then stopped because of financial situation.]

ご冥福をお祈り致します。
I miss him very much.

SEMA ショー 2008

新しいCamaroはSunocoカラーだし、ChallengerはHURST Challengerになっていました。
こう言う車を見ちゃうとつくづくアメリカ車はカッコイイなって思います。
さて今年もMOONEYESは、SEMA ショー Hot Rod Alleyに出展しました。
世の中の動向が悪い中　今年のSEMAはどうなるか心配しましたが　明けてみればそんな心配は無用！大変盛り上がっていました。
On display was the New Camaro with Sunoco color scheme as well as a Challenger in HURST Challenger clothes.
It's seeing cars like this that make me think about how cool American cars are.
This year, MOONEYES went to the SEMA Show and had a display booth in Hot Rod Alley.
In these current times of difficulty, there was some worry about how this year's SEMA show would be. However, once there at the show and seeing the action, the worrying was useless! Everyone there was in high spirits and having a great time.

　
さてMOONEYESブースに立ち寄られた方々を紹介します。
There were many people that came over to the MOONEYES booth, here are just a few.

まずは芸文社カスタムカー編集長とそのご一行、
First to stop over was Custom Car magazine Editor-in-Chief and party,

followed by the owner of Louise, a MOONEYES Dealer from Kyoto,

九州 SS Runの社長もいらっしゃいました。
and president of SS Run from Kyushu also came by.

USAでToyotaのイベントと国産旧車のイベントを運営しているMr.& Mrs.Yamaguchiさん
なぜ２人一緒に写っていないかと言うと　Babyが一緒だったため、Babyをつれて入場できないので
交代でBabyを見ていたそうです。　
Mr. & Mrs. Yamaguchi stopped by. They manage Toyota events and Japanese Old-Domestic car event in the USA. Why wasn't there a photo of both of them you ask? Well, they had brought their baby with them and children are not allowed into the area so they had to take turns.

最後は久しぶりにタケマルさんでした。
Lastly, Mr. Takemaru whom we haven't seen in a while.

たくさんの方にブースに寄って頂きましたが　話に夢中になり写真を撮り忘れたりで「僕も居たのに」と言う方、ご免なさい。と言うSEMA報告でした。
There were so many more people that came by the booth and many times I was chatting with them that I forgot to take a picture. Thank you for stopping by and sorry about not getting a photo. And that's my SEMA report.


PS. 先月のBlogでカレッジ時代の友人と会った事を紹介しましたが　今日また一人友人のArtがTomと現れました。3人とも同じ寮で3年あまりを過ごしたので、会うのは15年振りになりますが、会えば30年前に逆もどりでした。中央がそのBig Artです。
PS. In a recent blog entry I mentioned about an old college friend, Tom. Today, he brought another old friend, Art. The 3 of us shared a dormitory for three years. It's been about 15 years since we last seen each other but to meet again is like going back 30 years in time. In the middle is Big Art!

Gasser - ガッサー??

Gasser、日本ではガッサー？僕的はギャッサーの方がSound rightなんですが
当社のSteveが ”ガッサー” って言うから、どうやらそうらしい。
GASSER. In Japanese, spelling is based on pronunciation so how is Gasser spelt?
For me, I say it like [Gya-sah] which sounds right but our "native" English speaker, Steve, says [Gas-sah] without the minor Y sound. He says it's the same as GASOLINE. Perhaps a good point.

さて、Bakersfieldで見たGasser Styleのレースカー達です。
USではまだこのブームは続いています。
Anyway, here are some Gasser Style racers from our trip to Bakersfield.
This "LOOK" is still very popular in the US.

そしてGasserの肝はなんと言ってもMOON DecalとMOON　Fuel Tankです。
Speaking of GASSERS, many were equipped with MOON Decals and/or a MOON Fuel Tank, which suit this car perfectly.

VANS/MOONEYES Shoes / Bonneville 速報

以前にも紹介したVANS/MOONEYES Shoes。
BOXとかShoesを入れる袋とか、カッコイイです。
Shoesはサンプルで分かっていましたが、箱だとかその他、製品を取り巻く物は、今回見るまで知りませんでしたので、ビックリです。
これは履くように1足と、保存用に1足、2足、必要ですね。


Previously introduced and showcased here (several months back),
the VANS Shoes/MOONEYES "MOON-Vans" arrived last week but I must say, the packaging is so cool.
We had received samples from Vans of the shoes so we knew what to expect, even the two sets of Moon-Equipped laces.
However, the shoebox design and its inner lining as well as the shoe-bag we had no idea about and was quite surprised by how cool it looked.
This only means, you must get 1 pair to wear and at least 1, maybe 2 pairs for collecting.






Bonneville 速報
Chico's Bonneville Run Update

●8月18日(月）
１回目の走行は、3速にシフトアップした所でスピン、2回目の走行ではブロワーが壊れました。

18 AUG (Monday)
1st run: Shifting into third gear, the car lost traction.
2nd run: The blower broke!


●8月19日(火）
3回目の走行で、180マイルSomethingを出し、4回目の走行で184.204マイル。
このクラスのレコード達成です。

19 AUG (Tuesday)
3rd run: 180-something mph
4th run: 184.204 mph.

明日、20日(水）朝、同じ3マイルのコース（昔で言うリターンラン）で、その2回のスピードの平均が、現在のレコード、181.709マイルを越えれば、ワールドレコードとなります。
明日、レコードランをする車はインパンドと呼ばれ、今夜一晩は保管されるので、ピットには戻ってきません。
明日が勝負ですね。

That was enough for a class record speed. Tomorrow, 20 AUG (Wednesday) morning, Chico is set to run the 3 mile course (also known as the return run) and if he manages the speed of the second attempt on the 4th run, that average will be enough to beat the current record of 184.709 mph, which will be a new world record.

When a car is going for a record run the next day (tomorrow) it is impounded the evening before for safe keeping and doesn't go back to the pit area.

Tomorrow is SHOWTIME!

Dean MOONのビデオ

今回は、新製品の紹介。



Dean MOONが昔販売していた、「Land Speed Record」と言うビデオテープをDVD化し、発売開始です。
しかし、元のビデオはDeanが作った物なので、かなり素人ポイ仕上がり。
しかしそれを修正すると、Deanらしさがそこなわれるので修正一切なし。 そのままコピーしました。
しかも出だしの数分は、画像のみで音声はありません。（不良品ではありません）　
この音声なしのシーンは、MOONBeaｍの走行シーン（Dean MOONもちょっと映っています）や、



MOON Equipment Co内でMOONEYES Dragsterを囲んだ撮影シーン等が出てきます。
その後、MOONLinerが、キリンメッツCFや、タバコ"555"、ビールのBudwiser等のTV CFに登場しているシーンや、
Summers Brothersの作った392Hemiが4機も載った、Streamliner, Golden Rodの製作過程から、
記録を樹立するまでのシーンとか、Spirit of America１の走行シーン等、貴重な映像が沢山です。
キリンメッツのCFは、日本のTVに登場しましたから、覚えている方もきっといると思います。
仕上がりはちょっと雑ですが、Dean MOONが作り、販売していたビデオテープそのままです。
昔はこんなビデオでも「売れたんだー」って思ってください。 今ではクレームの嵐でしょう。
画像が飛んだり、切れたり、空白があったり、音声がダブったり、無かったり、聞き辛かったり、色々ありますが、Dean MOONのビデオ、時代を感じてください。
そしてDVDパッケージには、当時のビデオテープの広告も掲載してあります。
そして、こんなビデオを買ってしまったのが私です。

これからも音声の無い８mm時代のBonnevilleや、Ed Big Daddy Rothが発売していたビデオを、ＤＶＤ化し発売予定です。
でも、修正は一切しません。　



New Product Introduction

An old video tape that Dean Moon used to sell called, "Land Speed Record,"is now available in DVD format.
The original video was made by Dean himself and the finish quality was quite homemade (amateur video).
However, correcting the production and finish would take away the nostalgic homemade charm that this video has.
Therefore, the DVD version is a direct copy of the original.

The first several minutes shows video (visual) but no sound (audio).
This is just how the original video was too (not a defect).
During this portion of the video, scenes include the MOONBeam (you can see Dean momentarily too) and inside the MOON Equipment Co.
where the MOONEYES Dragster is displayed.

Then, TV CF footage and appearances of the MOONLiner with several commercial companies are shown including
KIRIN METS CF（Japanese Beverage Co.), "555"(Tobacco) and Budweiser (Beer Co.).
Other footage includes the Streamliner built by the Summers Brothers called "Golden Rod" that used four 392 Hemi engines.
the build process of Golden Rod, to the scene of its land speed record run. Spirit of America 1 is also shown.
There are a lot of rare clips and valuable scenes shown.

The KIRIN METS CF was also shown on Japanese TV back in 80's.

Although the quality is crude by today's standards, it is the exact way that Dean Moon originally put it together and offered it for sale.
From a historical standpoint you can say, "So, this is what video tapes were like back then."
You can imagine the claims if this was produced and marketed today.
Images that are out of focus, blurred, high contrast, low light, cut off, white washed, sound loss, sound fragmented, flooded by background noise, and you can go on and on...
but again, it is by Dean Moon. Please think of it as "Period Correct".
In an attempt to keep that same period feeling, the DVD packaging uses the same content as the original video tape release and includes the original caption created by Dean on the back.
(Dean originally sold this in VHS and BETA!)

And then there's this video that I purchased from Dean.
This is a soundless 8mm generation shot video of 50's & 60's Bonneville by Fred Larsen.
Also, "How to Fiberglas" by Ed "Big Daddy" Roth and more will be available soon.
Plans are in the works for it to be sold in DVD format.
This one will not be edited either.

Y30にSpeed Master Wheel

そう言えば、1月18日の"Mr. Blueのひとり言"で「Y30にSpeed Master Wheelを入れる」って大きく記事になっていましたが、結果も聞いていないなければ見てもいないし、しかもMr. Blueのブログには付けているフリの画像はあるけど、装着結果写真は掲載すらされていない。

ブログ上では「早速合わせてみる」とかあるけど、その後の報告が無い。いつもそうなんだ。

そうこうしていたら、そのY30がSpeed Master Wheelを履いてArea-1に来店してくれた。


早速写真を撮らせて貰ったので、Mr. Blueの代わりに掲載します。なかなかカッコいいではありませんか！オーナーの山田さん、次の週にも来店してくれて、オプションのセンターキャップを購入、さすが分かっていますね。


Speed Master Wheel on Nissan Y30
By the way on January 18th Blog called "Talking to my self" by Mr. Blue, there was a big article about "trying to fit the Speed Master Wheel on Nissan Y30" but heard nothing and see nothing after that. His Blog has picture with him pausing to fit on, but has no picture of car with this set of wheels on.

On his blog he says he will fit them on soon but has no report after that. Mean while that Nissan Y30 came to Area-1 with Speed Master Wheels on. So, I took some pictures and will put them up on be half of Mr. Blue. Now with wheels on Y30 Looks cool doesn't it? Mr. Yamada, the owner was nice enough to visit MOONEYES Area-1 shop again in week after that and purchased the option parts of New 5 ear center cap for wheels. As might have been expected, He knows what to do.

YOKOHAMA HOT ROD Custom Show 2007 DVD遂に発売開始！

今回は、ショー前のUSA取材に始まり、ショー前日の搬入、ショー当日、そして搬出、After the showのTokyo TourやGet Together Partyとか、とにかく内容豊富。横浜市内を走るHot Rod & KustomそしてChopper、動きの無いインドアショーが十分楽しめる内容です。英語で分かりやすい部分はそのままですが日本語の字幕付き、また一部日本語には英語の字幕付き、凄い！分かり易い！そしてボーナストラックにはJason Jesseeも登場！今回のDVDは今までDVDとはちょっと違うぞ！製作はMOONEYES USA Xmas Party DVDで拍手喝采を受けたUSAのGarage Production。最高の出来です。

The YOKOHAMA HOT ROD Custom Show 2007 DVD starts with the interview in USA before the Show cruise in on set up day, "Tokyo Tour" on after the show plus "Get Together Party" and more things are featured this time. The Hot Rod & Kustom and Chopper cruise in the city of Yokohama, the motion less indoor show DVD features far more moving contents to enjoy. The DVD has Japanese subtitle except for easy English part, and also English subtitle for some Japanese part, wow that's very easy to understand. And special bonus track features Jason Jessee in his new studio. This DVD is not like the previous DVDs, The produced by Garage Production USA who received best applause for MOONEYES USA Xmas Party DVD. It's very well done.

MOONEYESのNew Projects

昨日から金曜日まで、東京お台場でギフトショーが開催されています。


MOONEYESもRat Fink Feverブランドで出展し、もう数年が経ちますが、今回はRat Fink and Clay Smithブランドだけでなく、新たなライセンス契約によるRoad Runner商品のラインアップが加わりました。


また、Walt Disney Production（WDP）との契約でミッキー＆ミニー等をWildman石井がデザインし、WDPの監修により続々と新商品が発売されます。ピンストライプを多用したミッキーだったり、WildmanならではタッチをWDPからは求められていますので、今までとはちょっと違った雰囲気に仕上がる予定です。


そしてもう一つはHawaii島にHead Officeを置く、Traditiona Hawaiian Shirtsで有名なReyn SpoonerとMOONEYESのダブルネーム。


Wildman石井のデザインでモンステラにピンストライプをあしらったHawaiian Traditional生地を製作。Reyn Spoonerと言えば勿論　裏生地、プルオーバーが基本。そのベーシックである半袖プルオーバーボタンダウンシャツから、プルオーバーが苦手な方にはボタンが下まであるボタンダウン半袖シャツ、季節を問わず着れるボタンダウン長袖シャツやレディース用開襟タイプのブラウスと、キッズには大人とおそろいの半袖プルオーバーシャツがあります。その他、スイムショーツ、Baby Bibs（赤ちゃん用よだれかけ）、Beachやプールに便利なトートバックもあります。Reyn Spooner/MOONEYESのHawaiian Traditional ShirtsはMOONEYESの販売商品です。こんなシャツが欲しかったという1枚です。 メンズサイズはS～XXLまであります。 今年の夏はこれを着てSurf & Rodですね。

寒い日が続きますね。

友人のアイアンスポーツ 1974 HD Sportstar XLCH1000が遂に完成しました。



といってもノーマルである訳がありません。Kフレームにリジットフレームを追加したChopperです。PaintはCandy Green＆Pearl White、クローム＆ポリッシュで光る所は光らせた綺麗な仕上がりです。



MOON Original Shovel用 Point Cover、Air Cleaner、MOONEYES/Bull OriginalのLeather Seat、そしてシートの下にはIM Fatoryの為に生産しているMOONEYES Chopper Tank、IM Factory 仕様が装着されています。　注：IM Factorｙとは横浜反町にあるHD屋さんでMOONEYESのPan & Shovel 2台を製作し、メンテナンスもお願いしているShopです。

My friend's Iron Sports 1974 HD Sportstar XLCH1000 has finally completed. But its not original, it's a chopper with K frame and added rigged frame. Paint is candy green and pearl white, chrome & polish has been done for beautiful finish.

MOON Original Point Cover for HD Shovel, Air Cleaner, MOONEYES/Bull Original Leather Seat, under the seat is the MOONEYES Chopper Tank made for IM Factory special version. Notice: IM Factory is HD shop located in Yokohama, where MOONEYES Pan & Shovel HD were build and maintenance by. Narrowed front folk, small front brake, it is beautiful and sleek.

This weekend is this year's last Area-1 Kruise Knight, I thought about joining cruise night with him on 2 bikes but I guess we will be drinking beer in MOON Cafe instead. From owner's request this bike will be displayed at MOONEYES Area-1 during cold season.

By the way the 2007 YOKOHAMA HOT ROD Custom Show DVD which will be released on end of January is produced by Garage Production who received great response from the audience of last year's MOONEYES USA Xmas Party DVD. Please look forward to it.

カリフォルニアの日本車旧車、620や510そして・・・

10月6日（土）はCalifornia Long Beachで"3rd Annual カリフォルニア旧車集会 Japanese Classic Car Show(JCCS)"が開催されました。

今年も沢山の旧車がエントリーしていました。320、520、521、620とDatsun Pick Upも沢山エントリーしていたのですが、その中で気持ちよかったのが620の集団でした。

この620ですが四角のヘッドライト、グリル、ホイル、ミラー、バブルウィンドウ、5ピースのフレアーセット、トラクションバーに太いリアタイヤ、でもフロントタイヤは細い、70年代Truckin'を忠実に再現しています。このスタイルには青空しか似合いませんね、それもカリフォルニアの空でないと駄目です。


この620はアリゾナバンパーですが良い感じですし、テールゲートのDATSUNと青い空が70年代しています。


CB450が一台ポツンとありますがこれもいいですね。日本製の古いのはいいですね。


320は昔のCalとか読んでいるのでしょうか？何となく日本の香りがするカスタムが施されていました。CalはUSAのこの手の車マニアの間では結構人気があるそうです。


日本車が見直され、古い日本車も注目を集めるようになり、Calが散々扱って来た日本車カスタムも注目されたり、他誌ではありますがオーバーフェンダー、オイルクーラーをグリルに取り付け、八の字をきったリアタイヤの日本車カスタムなどが同様に注目され、今回のイベントでもローレルやスカイラインが日本から輸入され、出展されていました。日本特有のカスタムが海の向こうに渡るのは分かる気もしますが、僕らの「日本車をUSA風のカスタムしましょう」がUSAで見られるのも何とも変な気持ちがします。


この2台の510ワゴンはまさしく日本風カスタムではないでしょうか？ホワイトリボンにブレットセンターキャップ、そしてClay Smith Cams ステッカーのこの510。


そしてもう一台もスキニーホワイトリボンタイヤ、ダイスドアロックノブ、グラントハンドルにGT500ミラー、そしてMOONステッカーです。ありがとう！


BRE仕様やSCCAに代表されるサーキットレース風に仕上げられる事が多い510ですが、このナローデフの510は珍しいです。


昔のUSA的な香りが一番したのがMazda車です。RX2、RX3とか名前で呼ばれなかったのも理由かもしれませんが、僕はRX2（カペラ）が好きな一台です。


このロータリートラックもどんな走りをするのか興味あります。今、どういう訳かMazda旧車はこの様に大径ホイルを履いたスタイルがＬＡでは流行っているようです。


最後に、Wildmanの手により製作されたMOON Discは、この日のBest of Showを獲ったセリカのオーナーに渡されました。数年前はUSAから沢山のUSA車が日本に輸入されましたが　これからは日本車旧車が海を渡りUSAに行くのでしょうか？車は世界を廻りますね。


Saturday October 6th the 3rd Annual California Classic Domestic gathering, The Japanese Classic Car Show (JCCS) was hosted in Long beach California.

There were many classics showed up again this year with 320, 520, 521, 620 DATSUN Pick Ups and group of 620 looked nice.

This 620 has quad square head lights, custom grill, wheel, mirror, bubble window, 5 piece flare set traction bar and wide tires but narrow on front, recreation of the true 70s' trucking style. This style looks good with blue sky and must be California sky.

This 620 has Arizona bumper but it looks good, DATSUN on tail gate and blue sky is appealing the 70s'. One CB450 was left alone. Old Japanese made looks good. 320 may be reading old Japanese custom magazine called "Cal" it has Japanese taste custom. "Cal" magazine is getting popular to these manias in USA.

Japanese cars are now getting attention, especially the old classics and Japanese car customs which cal had been taken for years are now starting to get attention, and in other magazine Flares, oil cooler on grill, Rear tires spread low with faces up (called HACHINOJI in Japanese as it looks the way they write Eight/Hachi) are also getting attention too. In this show NISSAN Laurel and Skyline (both were never imported to USA) which were imported from Japan currently were on display. The original Japanese custom has now gone to overseas which is understandable but it was our "make Japanese cars look like US cars custom" are now seen in US which is pretty nice thing for me.

These two 510 wagon is really taking Japanese taste custom. White ribbon tires with bullet center cap, Clay Smith Cams sticker on this 510 and other one has skinny white ribbon tire, dice door lock knob, Grant steering wheel, GT500 mirror, and this MOON Stickers. Thank you!

BRE and SCCS Circuit Race looks are popular way for 510 finish in US but this narrowed 510 is rare way of finishing. Mazda look most like American cars among old cars. May be one of reason is it was called by RX2, RX3 without name and just numbers but RX2 is the most one I like. This rotary truck is interesting to see how it runs. Some how, the Mazda classics in USA seems to have large wheel in style for now. Lastly the MOON Disc pin striped by Wildman went to owner of this TOYOTA Celica. Couple years ago many American cars crossed ocean to Japan but may be Japanese classic cars are crossing ocean to be imported by USA from now. Cars go around the World!

Today's MOONEYES USA

MOONEYES USAでは10月のNHRA California Hot Rod Reunion（CHRR）に向けて、MOONEYES Dragsterの製作が着々と進んでいます。 今年のCHRRは60年代、イギリスへDrag Raceを伝えたAmerican TeamのRace Carがテーマの様です。勿論、MOONEYES Dragsterもその中の1台ですから、どうしても完成させないといけないのです。でも、残り数週間しかありません。

50年 Ford WoodyもFrontのMustang II サスペンションへの変更が終わり、New Motorを積むのを待っている状態です。



が、その後まだWoodの張替え等があるので、少なくても2-3年は掛かる、ゆっくりProjectです。日本でもWoody小林が同じ形のWoodyの修理をしています。はたから見ていても大変すぎる作業、完成されたWoodyが高いのも理解できますね。



Bonnevilleを走った32年 Deuceもガレージに展示されていました。嬉しそうなDean MOON Jr.は長い事抱えていた問題が解決した、と証明の紙を見せてくれました。

最後に、今開発中の商品をお見せします。

"Today's MOONEYES USA"
MOONEYES USA is getting Dragster ready for NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion(CHRR) in October. This year's CHRR has theme of American Team Drag Race Car who went across to England to introduce "Drag Racing" back in 60s. Of course the MOONEYES Dragster was one of them and has to complete to join the theme. But only few weeks are left.

'50 Ford Woody has complete new Front Mustang II suspension and now waiting for New Motor to be loaded. But the wood has to be restored so it will take at least 2 to 3 years, very time taking project.

In Japan Woody Kobayashi is on restoration project of same style Woody. It's so much work just by looking at him work, its very understandable how the completed Woody is expensive.

'32 Deuce which run in Bonneville is also displayed at garage. Happy Dean MOON Jr. has solved long holding problem and showed me its paper of proof.

Lastly here is a new product on the way. Picture is MOON Original HD Shovel Finned Point Cover. Same time Air Clear will be released. It was like this in MOONEYES USA today.

父の日の南カリフォルニアはイベントが沢山

Bakersfield Thunder Run

先週末の南カリフォルニアではPomonaで"L.A. Roadsters"が開催されていました。父の日に開催されるので"Father's Day"と呼ばれ、今年で50回目になる歴史あるイベントです。また同じ週末、Bakersfieldでは"Thunder Run"というバイクのイベントも開催されていました。実はこのイベントの事はまったく知りませんでしたが、Chicaさんが教えてくれたので、土曜日はPomonaで日曜日はBakersfieldへ行ってみる事にしました。


When you go up the mountain road, there are flat places to rest in the middle of the way. 30 years ago when going to San Francisco in my friends 69 Camaro all sudden the smoke filled up the car and smell of something burning and took off to exit from this one.
山をどんどん上がって行くと中腹で一息つけるように平坦になります。30年前、友人の69 Camaroでサンフランシスコに向かう際、突然車内に煙が充満して焦げ臭くなり、この出口で降りた事があります。


After going straight down the hill the air in flat land is hot you can feel it in your throat. Also 30 years ago, I have passed by my friend's Pontiac Bonneville and re-caped tires had its top peeled off by the heat.
一気に山を駆け下りると盆地となり、夏は息を吸うと喉が熱くなる感じのところです。やはり30年前、友人のBonnevilleでここを通過、履いていた再生タイヤが熱の為はがれてしまいました。

Bakersfieldまでは片道約150マイル（240キロ）あります。朝9時のゲートオープンに間に会うように出発しましたが、早朝は道も空いていて1時間半で到着できました。Pomonaで開催されている"Father's Day"は朝6時頃から人がうろうろしているのに、ここは9時にゲートがオープンしてもまだ出展者はオープンしていない所が多く、10時頃になってやっと皆準備が終わったという感じでした。"Father's Day"は年齢層が高いから朝が早いのでしょうか？

On the way back, the straight road goes right up the mountain. Its sharp hill and need enough horse power to climb up.
帰り道、真っ直ぐに続く道から一気に山を駆け上がります。結構一気に上がりますから馬力がないと大変です。

"There are full of events on the fathers day in Southern California."
The "L.A. Roadsters" show was hosted on last weekend in Pomona, Southern California. The event is called "The Father's Day" since it is hosted on Father's Day and its historical event as this year was their 50th year. Also on the same weekend in Bakersfield, Motorcycle event called "Thunder Run" was hosted. I didn't know about this event at all but The Chica Custom Cycles Chica-san had informed me that. So I went on Pomona on Saturday and Bakersfield on Sunday.

Bakersfield is about 150 mile one way from Santa Fe Springs. Left to reach before the gate open on 9 am but the road was empty and made it in 1,5 hour. "The Father's day" was hosted in Pomona and people were wondering about from 6 am in the morning but here in Bakersfield, some booth were not open even though the gate opened on 9am and the shops were completely opened after 10 o'clock. Father's day has more elderly people so may be that's why. I couldn't take a good look at motorcycles as I had to return to Pomona for packing, but from the many choppers on display I have again chosen the ones that I like. I will write about "L.A. Roadsters" on next issue.

何で6月で冬？南半球は日本の夏が冬、でもGold Coastは暖かくてBlue SkyにPalm Tree、そしてBeach。Californiaみたいなんです。そのGold CoastでショーとDrag Raceが一度に同じ週末に開催されるので、ファンにとっては絶対にミスできない週末です。

USA車の多さにびっくりしますが、USA4ドアはオーストラリア国内でノックダウンされた車も多くあるようです。それらはちゃんと右ハンドルでも左側にコラムシフトレバー、そしてウインカーレバーが右側にあります。しかし右ハンドルでもウインカーレバーが左側にあり、コラムシフトレバーが右側にあるのがUSAから個人輸入され、右ハンドルにコンバートされた車だと勝手に解釈しています。日本ではお目にか掛かれない車がカスタムされていたり、Hot Rodになっていたり、楽しいですよ。欧州車好きな日本の人の誰がボックスホールがKustomされると思いますか？！環境が違えば何でもKustomの対象になるってことですね。

日本車のDrag Race Carが見たくてWillowbank Racewayで開催されたWinter Nationalsに行きました。行った日が決勝戦の日でしたので大多数の予選落ちた車はすでにピットをあとにしていたのですが、10.19秒で走るというこのハイラックスを見れたのが最大の収穫でした。

"Australia Gold Coast Car Show & Drag Race."
I went to the Gold Coast where I haven't been there for a long time. The Wintersun Cruise is the car show event at Coolangatta beach in Gold Coast Australia, why winter in June? That's because Australia is in southern hemisphere but even in winter Gold Coast is warm with blue sky, palm trees and beach just like in California. That Gold Coast has Show and Drag Race on same weekend so it something not to be missed for funs.

Surprised to see so many USA cars, the old USA four door cars were made in Australia as knock down. They have handle on right side and column on the left side and winkers on right. I am guessing that there are private import cars converted from left handle which has shift on right side and winkers on left. There are cars that we don't usually see in Japan and they were customized or made into Hot Rod and its fun to see. Vauxhall, England car is not Kustomised in the Japan as only they have image of Euro car only. When background changes anything can be base for customizing.

I wanted to see Drag Race Car and went to the Winter Nationals at Willowbank Raceway but it was final day the elimination was held and many cars probably dropped before finals and this Toyota Hilux mini truck was there which runs on 10.19 seconds. That was great to see, Japanese base car Drag race machine is really cool isn't it.

2台目のハーレー

日曜日に開催されたMotorcycle "Show & Swap Meet"、晴天にも恵まれ、大変な盛り上がりとなりました。

そしてこのイベントは一年間で唯一、僕がバイクで長距離を走るイベントでもあります。



当初予定していた東京お台場での開催が、ギリギリになって会場側の都合で借りれなくなり、急遽 場所を川崎東扇島に変更。こちらも突然の変更に対応して下さった方々に感謝でした。昨年は雨だったのでバイクより車での来場が多かったのですが、今回はバイクでの来場が大変多く、1,000台は楽に超えていたと思います。会場周辺で沢山の人にご挨拶しましたが、皆Nice Guy、感じが良くナイスな人達が大変多く、バイカーって「感じいいな～」って思っちゃいました。ショーの模様は週末のMMM（ムーンアイズ メールマガジン）に大きく掲載しますので楽しみにしていてください。

以前に話しましたが「今度買うHDはセル付き」と思っていたのですが・・・。バイク屋さんから「いいのがありますよ」って紹介され、結局買ったのはショベルのリジット。何をやっているのでしょうか？


セルは付けれるそうですが、オープンプライマリーでMOON Chopper Tankを付けると云々となり、結局またセル無しとなってしまったのでした。


しかしMOONEYESには若いHD乗りのMasaがいます。彼は自分のHDとPan & Shovelの2台のエンジンを掛けるMOONEYES Official Starterとして活躍してくれているので、彼がいる時は始動に心配はありません。一つ心配なのはエンジンの掛かりが悪いとMan Power Starterが疲れて、しばらく充電が必要になる事です。

さて今回のShovel、フロント 21"、リア 16"、74 Springerを使い、なるべくCompactに作りました。Tankは3.5ガロン Genuine HD Fuel Tank、ハンドルは3"ライザー プラス 多少押さえが効きそうなハンドルバー、それに3" Peep Mirrorのステーを加工して取り付けています。Pegもいい感じのが見つかりました。

とかく目に付く配線関係はステンレスのワイヤーカバーにまとめたので見た目もすっきりし、ワイヤーの保護にもなります。

ウィンカーは小ぶりのRod Liteを使用しましたが、残念ながら小さすぎて視認性が悪いのでもう少し大きい物と交換予定です。

MOONのDirect Oil Pressure ゲージ、エアクリーナーも車に使う小さい物をブラケットを新調し装着、テールランプは'36 Tail Lamp、ルビーレッドのフューエルホースとプラグワイヤーがアクセントを効かせています。

シートはBull Original製 MOON Equipped Original タック＆ロール ソロシート。シートの後ろがちょっと上がっているのでお尻が滑らず、ハンドルにしがみ付かなくても余裕で発進・加速ができます。

PaintはHouse of ColorのCandy Paint "Gold"、初めはラメペイントとも思いましたがFuel Tankが大きいので今回はCandyにして正解でした。


沢山のバイクを見ても比較的マフラーパイプに変化が無く、一番目立つパーツでもあるのでこれをメッキ加工し、サイレンサーを入れて使ってみると、Fuel Tankのペイントとクローム類がマッチしなんとカッコイイ！Hot Rodパーツが満載のBanana Goldの完成です。

簡単に乗れるように作っていた筈が仕上がってみると何時の間にかショーバイクに近くなってしまいましたが、車もバイクも綺麗なのが一番、特に齢も取ってきて見た目では若者に劣るのでせめて乗り物くらいは綺麗にしておきたいですね。このバイクを隅々まで色々やってくれたのが横浜のIM Factory。無理難題を笑顔でやってくれる、ナイスなオーナーがやっているお店です。

ショー翌日の月曜日、わざわざMOON Cafeに寄ってくれた名古屋から来てくれたViSEの皆さん、MOON Cafe 定休日ですみませんでした！またのお越しをお待ちしています。


The Motorcycle "Show & Swap Meet", weather was fine and it was a big turn out. It is also the once in a year time which I ride for long distance.

It was supposed to be held at Odaiba, Tokyo but all sudden the renting deal was turned down in short notice, so we had to changed to Higashi Ougijima, Kawasaki in short time which we like to Thank all people supported us. Last years show was rained on so more people came on cars to see the show than bikes. But this year people came to see the on bike and easily over thousand bikes came to see the show. I met many people at the show and they were all nice guy, very nice people to meet. The show will be reported on this weekends MMM (MOONEYES MAIL MAGAZINE) so please enjoy.

I have mentioned before that "My next HD will be with starter motor". But bike shop introduced me there was a good one and bought Rigid Shovel. What am I doing? Starter motor can be put on but with open primary and MOON Chopper Tank, it was no way to go with. But in MOONEYES, young HD rider Masa is here. He is a "MOONEYES Official Starter" working to start his HD, My Pan and Shovel. I have no worries when he is there to start. One thing worried about is when HD don't start up and Man Power Starter gets tired and needs charging for a while.

Now this Shovel , has 21" on Front, 16" on Rear with 74 Springer and made as compact as possible. Tank is 3.5 Gallon Genuine HD Fuel Tank, 3" raiser plus Handle bar which has little down force, also 3" Peep Mirror from automobile with new custom made bracket. Found new Peg that looks good too. The wires that catches eye are all covered in stainless steel wire cover so it looks less clouded and keeps clean and guard them. Turn signals are too small and cannot be seen so I will change these small Rod Lite to bigger ones. MOON Direct Oil Pressure Gauge, Air Cleaner is also for cars with small carb with new bracket, Tail Lamp is '36 Ford Tail Lamp, Ruby Red Fuel Line and Plug Wires are making appeal.

Seat is MOON Equipped Original Tack & Roll Solo Seat by Bull Original. This seat has curved swing up rear end which gives great hold in start and accelerations with out grabbing on to the handle bars. Paint is House of Colors Candy Paint "Gold", Thought of "Metal Flake" paint in first place but as the fuel tank is big, it was right this time with Candy Paint.

Looking at many bikes and exhaust pipe is same compared to the other parts, but at same exhaust pipes stands out most so this convoluted pipe was chromed and silencer was placed in and it turned out good with fuel tank paint and chrome matches cool. "Banana Gold" complete with full of Hot Rod parts. I have made MOON Custom Cycle Shop Stickers. T-shirts are available too.

I thought I will make easy one to ride but turned out to be almost show bike clean car and bikes are best, got old and looks are not offend able against the young ones so at least I want to keep the rides clean, untouchable. The IM Factory of Yokohama has done all kind of work on this HD, shop with nice owner Who Help us solve the hard task with smile.

By the way on Monday next day of the show, The crew of "ViSE" from Central Japan Nagoya has came to eat at MOON Cafe, but sorry the MOON Cafe was closed on every Mondays. Please visit again! Thank you!

君は見ましたか Datsun 320 Pick Upを

今年のMOONEYES Street Car Nationals(SCN)で久しぶりに笠井君（Deuce Factory Owner）らしいカスタムを見ました。6穴のDatsun 320 Pick UpにVW用 Speed Master Wheelを履いてしまったのです。

まず、Speed Master Wheelには6H（6穴）は用意されていません。VW用のSpeed Master Wheelを加工しようと彼は考えたのです。VW用は5H205という大変広いピッチです。それをEarly VW to 4H用ホイルのAdapterを使って装着していました。それは本来、5H205のVWに4Hとか5Hのホイルを履く為に使うのですが、彼はそれを逆さまに使い、5H205のホイルにAdapterを合わせ4H部分を加工し、6Hに変更し、無理矢理と言えば無理矢理ですが、Speed Master Wheelを装着してしまったのです。

それとET製ノックオフタイプのスピンナーも、スピンナータワーをホイル裏側にネジ留めした上にスピンナーをつけていますから、飛び出しすぎる事もなく丁度いい感じで装着されています。タイヤサイズは聞き忘れましたが、ホイルが15×6ですから多分ミシュランの165×15をリア、フロントは145×15でしょうか。このサイズのタイヤ、国産旧車に大変良くマッチします。最近、あまり見る事がなかった何が何でも取り付ける」という彼の執念を見た一台でした。どうしても付けたい物があったら何が何でも付けちゃう、それもカッコ良く。カスタムですねー。

先週お話したCrown SedanもPick Upも完成し、SCNに展示することが出来ました。が、Pickは最終仕上げの為にそのまま工場へとんぼ返り。しかしSedanはインテリアを除いてほぼCompleteです。Metalic Dark GrayのBodyにリクロームした部品がキラキラに輝き、ホイルのMag GrayもBodyに大変良くマッチしています。大人のSedanです。

SCNの前の晩、本牧から伊勢崎町を通り帰宅の途中、信号待ちしていると、スーっとメルセデスが隣に停車。「ん？」と思ったら運転席の窓がスーっと下がって「ドキ！」。すると同年代位のドライバーの方が「30年以上前のクルマですよね、綺麗ですね、大事に乗ってください」って声を掛けられました。Californiaではちょっと違う車に乗っていると信号のたびにうるさいくらい話しかけれますが、日本ではまずないですよね。メルセデスの窓が下がった時はちょっと驚きましたが、感じよく運転して帰れました。話しかけてきた方も同年代くらい、オッサンが気にするSedanです。

This Sunny truck was cool. The Drop Kick shop from Yamagata makes nice cars which is rare shop in these days.
このサニートラックはカッコ良かったです。山形のDrop Kickさんはいい感じの車を作る、今時では珍しいお店です。

SCNでは何時も搬入口を某巨大トラック専門買取センターB/Pの金子社長、またの名をMr. Blueが助けてくれています。感謝です。今年はタイヤがバーストして金子社長遅刻してきました。苦し紛れに適当な事を言って！なんて思っていましたが帰りはベイブリッジ付近でまたバーストしたそうです。1日に2回ですよ、バースト2回もしますか？でも彼だったらあってもおかしくないです。Mr. Blue、何時もお手伝いありがとうございます。

"Did you see that Datsun 320 Pick Up"
In this years MOONEYES Street Car Nationals (SCN) I have seen custom by Mr. Kasai of Deuce Factory Japan owner with his style which I didn't see for a while. Datsun 320 Pick up with 6 lug hole pattern had VW Speed Master Wheels on.

The Speed Master Wheel doesn't have 6 lug holes. It was his idea to use the Speed Master Wheel for VWs. The Speed Master Wheel for VW has wide 205mm pitch 5 lug holes. He used Early VW to 4 lug adapter to fit. The adapter is originally used for VW with 5 lug hole 205 pitch car to Fit 4 lug holes or 5 lug holes wheels, but he used it other way around and Bolted adapter to 5 lug 205 pitch wheels and custom work was done to make 4 lug nut wheel hole to match 6lug hole and forced to fit the Speed Master Wheels on.

Also the ET manufactured knock off type spinner was also fitted. He bolted tower on from behind the wheels so spinners doesn't look too far out and looked just good I forgot to ask about tire size, front is 15X6 so I think its Michelin 165X15 on rear and front is 145X15. These tire sizes matches best to Japanese Classics. This car showed us his spirit of making things fit on cars which We haven't seen in while. Any parts that want to make it fit, will make it fit and of course it has to look good. That's Custom.

The Crown Sedan and Pick Up I have mentioned last week has finished and were able to show at SCN. But the Pick Up had to go back to factory for last adjustment. Sedan is complete except the interior. Metallic Dark Gray body with chromed parts shining and Wheels Mag Gray Color Matches to very well with body. It's the sedan for adults.

On the night before SCN, going home from Honmoku through Isezaki-cho in Yokohama, while stopping at lights, the Mercedes stopped at side. When I noticed the car had stopped the window rolled down, be given a start. Then the gentleman who was about my age said to me "That's more than 30 years old car, its beautiful, please take good care of your car". In California everyone will say something when you are driving a different car but no one does that in Japan. I was surprised when Mercedes came by and rolled its window down but It made me feel great driving the way back home. He was about same age as myself, this Sedan catches attention from old man.

In SCN, Mr. Kaneko the president of a huge Truck buying center with other name Mr. Blue has helped us at entrance gate. Very thank full. This year he was late because the tire had burst. He had chosen a bad excuse then he had second burst again on the way back. Twice in a day! Unusual but anything may be possible with Mr. Blue. Mr. Blue, Thank you for helping us all the time.

MOON Garage

このガレージは1950年代に建てられ、MOONEYES USAの建物の中でも最も古い建物です。

ガレージのスイングドアは当時物、分厚い木製でしかも手で開閉しなければなりません。 これが重たいのです。昔の写真を見るとこのガレージで出荷とかをやっていたようですが、今は MOON メモラビリヤ館として沢山のお客様をお迎えしています。

MOONEYES USAの場合、会社全体がメモラビリヤですが、ここにはBloomfield時代のステッカーや、数々の貴重品がショーケースの中に保管されています。


1960年代Dean MOONが日本に来た際、使ったパスポートもあります。

また、最近ではめっきりSwap Meetでも見る事が無くなったOld MOON Productsも少しづつ増やしています。これらは見つけた時に購入するしかありませんが 先日も古いＭＯＯＮタコメーターがありましたが、素晴らしい値段でしたのでスキップしてしまいました。

"MOON Garage"

This building was build in 1950s and its one of the oldest building in MOONEYES USA.

The Garage's Swing door is from back then and made out of heavy wood and you have to manually Operate this heavy door to open and close. The old picture shows there were Shipping and Receiving stuff out from this space but now it's Welcoming many customers with memory of old MOONEYES.

In case of MOONEYES USA, every thing is memorabilia but this Bloomfield times sticker and many Important parts are kept in the show case. There is even a passport which Dean Moon has used to travel to Japan in 60s.

Also now days its not seen in swap meet any more are Old MOON Products which increasing by Little bit. I try to buy these Old MOON parts when ever I find them and I found some old MOON Tach meter on the other day but price was very high so I skipped.

今日は商品の話です

先週末、Long Time MOONEYES Customerであり、ここ数年イベントを手伝ってくれるＨＨ内田君がハイエースを買ったので、相談しに来店してくれました。

まずMOONEYESのハイエースを試乗、かなりLoweredされてますが大変乗り易いので自信の一台。奥様もその乗り心地には合格点！サスはOK、じゃホイルは、と話すと奥様はクローム系、彼はアルミ地。しかし、このクルマは奥様がドライブするので迷うことなくEnkei/MOONEYESのMojaveホイルを履いてみたら、これがノーマルのシルバーペイントBodyにPerfectマッチではありませんか。更に僕らが助かったのは、タイヤ交換を全部彼が自分でやってくれました。さすがLong Time MOONEYES Customer、気合が違います。

ホイル・タイヤを交換しただけでは物足りないので、車高も落とす事になりましたが時間が無い！それじゃ自宅で日曜日に付けると言うので、K-BEEサスペンション部品を持ち帰る事になり、ノーマルタイヤとK-BEEを荷台に積んでしまいました。履き替えたタイヤ・ホイルを持って帰ってもらえると大変うれしいです。さすがLong TimeのCustomer、気を使ってくれます。Vanで良かった！

翌日の日曜日夕方、「出来ましたよー」って連絡があり、画像を送ってもらうと、なんとそこには車高も下がり格好良くなったハイエースがあるではありませんか。


その後、出張に出ていたMOONEYES StaffのGoshuが大きな袋を抱えて帰ってきました。その袋の中には長期欠品中だったホワイトリボンのクルマ用10インチから17インチ。


こんなものも。これはSkinny ホワイトリボンになるタイプの新製品(13・14・15・16インチ車用)。


そしてこの細いのは、なんとなんとバイク用(13・16・17・18インチ)。


さらにスクーター用(10・12インチ)もあります。


やっと供給の目処がついたホワイトリボン、良かったです。Goshuご苦労様でした。

Today topic is about Products.
Last weekend, Long Time MOONEYES Customer and recent event helper Mr. Uchida has came to shop for Custom as he bought new TOYOTA HIACE VAN. First he test drive on MOONEYES HIACE. It is lowered but has good smooth ride. Mrs. Uchida was happy on this ride and suspension was settled. Next was Wheel, Mrs. Uchida went for Chrome, Mr. Uchida went for Aluminum finish. But because this car was Mrs. Uchida's daily driver, Mojave by Enkei/MOONEYES was tried on for fitted, this wheel matches best with original silver paint. Plus we were saved as he did all wheel change by himself. That's Long Time MOONEYES Customer, he has guts to do by himself.

After changing Wheels and Tires next He wanted to lower the HIACE. But He didn't have time so he decided to do it by himself at home on next day, Sunday and bought K-BEE suspension parts. K-BEE and Original Wheels were loaded in the car. It helps us if the old wheels and tires were taken home at same time. That's again the Long Time customer who knows what to do. Good it was a van.

Next day Sunday late afternoon, Completion was heard from with pictures and there it was good looking lowered HIACE.

Then MOONEYES Staff Goshu who was on business trip came back with big bag. In side the bag were long time out of stock White Ribbon (port a wall) for cars, size in 10" to 17". Plus these new item with Skinny Ribbon style and this skinny one new item for Motorcycle, size from 13" to 18" plus there are Scooter 10" and 12" size too.

Finally they will be in stock. Thank you for the trip, Goshu.

ラズルダズルでのトライアンフ

25日(日)はラズル ダズルでした。
とにかく寒い一日だったのであまり長く会場に居られませんでしたが、こんな時でもNASH君だけが半ズボンでした。

その寒い中、一台とてもカッコイイTriumphが参加していたので紹介します。製作はSo Cal Styleのバイクでいつもいい味を出しているDeluxie Customs。今回のTriumphも素敵ですね。それにMOONEYESの製品を沢山使ってくれているのがまた嬉しいです。


ルビーレッドのプラグワイヤー、ピンクのフュエルライン、Cat Tail Lamp、それにMOON Chopper TankとMOON Discです。MOON Discは車用の物をベースに中心をえぐり、貫いたりして、バイクに使えるようにしたそうです。

Sunday 25th, "Razzle Dazzle" was hosted in Yokohama. It was really cold day so I couldn't stay long at the show place. Even though it was cold day, NASH was wearing short pants.

There was one cool Triumph at the show. It was built by Deluxie Customs who always has cool So Cal Style Motorcycle and this Triumph was cool too. Also it had many MOONEYES products which was really cool for us.

Ruby Red Plug Wire, Pink Fuel Line, Cat Tail Lamp, plus MOON Chopper Tank and MOON Disc. MOON Disc was specially made out of MOON Disc for a car and cut out center to use on Motorcycle. MOONEYES USA has ability to make special order size and style so please ask us if you want to have MOON Disc on your motorcycle or any thing really. How about this Triumph! 先週のウィークエンド

先週は木曜日からNHRA 開幕戦WinternationalがPomona, Caでありました。予選一日目の木曜日は指定席券（何処でも座れる）は関係ないし、入場券も安い。駐車場も空いていてちょっと会社を抜け出して行くには一番の日です。何処に座ろうかとスタンドを上がって行ったらHot VWs マガジンのRKに声を掛けられ、一緒に座りました。こんな広いスタンドで、なんで知り合いが座っているのでしょうか？

	会社からPomonaは30分あれば行けるので、Jim & Diane DunnとJon Dunnに挨拶しにPomonaまで行ったのです。彼らのおかげで今年もMOONロゴをFunny Carに貼ってもらいました。今年は昨年よりちょっと大きく、MOONに黄色が入って目立つようになりました。

	彼らのメインスポンサーLucas OilはBig Companyなので、トレーラー9台分のスペースを使い3台エントリー。その中にはHospitalityのコーナーもあるのです。これはLucasのお得様とかをもてなす為の場所で、食事やドリンクが好きな時に取れる、何ともレース場では恵まれた環境なんです。いいですね。

NHRAトッラク 唯一見られるMOON Discsです

昔（Kenjiの時代）、食パンにハムやピーナッツバターを塗って昼食を取っていたのとは大違いです。僕らはLucasのお得意様でも何でもありませんが、Jim Dunn Racingの関係なのでちゃっかりおこぼれ頂戴です。この日のJim Dunn Racingの予選結果は、まだ一回目でしたが23台中16台の枠に入れませんでした。

	金曜日はSouth Bayで用事があったついでにYoshi-KunのTriumphの進行状態を偵察に行きました。乗るのは大変かもしれないけどこれが出来たらきっとカッコいいですよ。

	Yoshi-kunが「これがあるとバッテリー要らない」という物をくれました。Triumphはバッテリーが丸見えで体裁悪いので丁度良かったです。持ち帰って着けてみますので、結果報告は日本でします（多分バイク関係の人にとっては当たり前の部品も、僕ら車人間からは初耳の事が多いです）。もう一つYoshi-kunが情報をくれて日曜日、RiversideでBritish BikeのSwap Meetがあるとの事。日曜日はNHRAの決勝の日です。どっちに行くか迷いました。

土曜日、今日は朝からMOONEYES USAのMakoto君とNHRAです。会場の駐車場はレースコースに近い程金額が高くなります。Pit Side $25, Prefered $20(これ日本でもやりたいですね。一般よりちょっと近い）、一般 $15、駐車場も金次第、分かりやすいです。迷わずPit Sideに駐車し、入場券は指定席なしの一般入場券、これでも$49でした。

朝食を取っていたら、Rod MotorsのRyo-kunとその一行に出会いました。PomonaでRyo-Kunと会うのは1981年以来でしょう。その時もWinternationalでした。

さて、レーサーは今日予選を通過しないと日曜日の決勝戦に残れませんから、皆必死のはずです。土曜日は予選が2回あるのですが、1回目はHospitalityブースでランチを取ってしまったので見過ごしてしまいました。予選2回目はKenjiもいたので彼を解説者に自由席スタンドを上がって行くと、今度はFred Larsenのパートナー、Don Cumminsの孫のDannyが居るではありませんか。木曜日のRKといいDannyといい、偶然とはいえ不思議です。

予選通過TOPは4.692秒、16位が4.795秒。その差は0.1秒、この間に16台が収まっているのです。しかも今年のナイトロの量は85%とのKenjiの解説でした。Kenjiの時代は97%とかでした。ナイトロの混合比は減っているのにスピードは早くなっています。音は昔の方が良かったですね。Kenji曰く　「最近は駐車中のアラームも鳴らない」。確かに昔はレース場のあっちこっちでセキュリティーアラームが鳴っていました。ナイトロが減って音の質が変わったのは確かです。

John Forceチームは今年からFunny Carに参戦の彼の娘、Ashleyを入れて4台も予選通過です。結局Jim Dunn Racingは4.816秒で残念ながら予選通過できませんでした。

Budweiser King、Kenny Bernsteinも今年からFunny Carで参加していますが、彼ですらDNQ(Did Not Qualify)でした。厳しいですね！

決勝進出が無く、また土曜日夜半から大雨となったので日曜日はRiversideのSwap Meetに行って来ました。Swap Meetは一回目という事もあり、また雨も降っていたので小規模なものでした。ここではカッコいいテールライトが付いたBSAのリアフェンダーを買いました。

Yoshi-Kunはまだ一台目も完成していないのに2台目の部品を買っていました。僕もそうですが1台目は自分の作りたい物を作ってしまって、結局乗りづらい物になってしまい、乗れるもう一台を作りたくなるようです。彼の場合はまだ1台目も出来てないのに、もう乗れないと決めてしまったようです。

途中雨がひどく降ってきたので会場を出るとFWYは事故渋滞、しかしOrange Countyに着いた頃には雨は上がり、太陽が顔を出すくらいになったのでCar Washへ行ったら何とClosed。多分、午前中雨だとOpenしないのかもしれません。でも開けていたら忙しかったに違いありません。

自分で洗車する所も満員御礼、結局会社へ戻り洗車をする事になりました。 なんとNHRAの決勝戦は日曜日、雨が上がった後に開催されていたのです。洗車をしている場合ではなかったのです。それを知ったのは月曜日の朝刊でした。

Last Weekend From last Thursday NHRA Opening Race Winternational started at Pomona, California. Thursday was the first day of qualifying round which all seats are not reserved and free to choose where to seat, tickets are cheaper and parking space is available so its great day to sneak out of office to see the race. As I walked up the stairs on stand thinking where to seat, RK from Hot VWs Magazine called my name and so I seated with him. How come my friend is sitting right by in this huge stand? Pomona is only 30 minutes drive from MOONEYES USA, so I went to Pomona to say Hi to Jim & Diane Dunn and Jon Dunn. With their help, managed to have little MOON LOGO on Funny Car. Its little bit bigger than last year and stands out with yellow color in. Their main sponsor Lucas Oil is a big company and used 9 trailer space for entry of 3 cars and Hospitality space was made in there too. This is where Lucas's customers are treated. At here foods and drinks are available at anytime, Very good environment, isn't it good? It's a big difference compared to the lunch we had, a bread with ham and peanuts butter back in the days when Kenji was racing. We were not customer of Lucas but have connection with Jim Dunn Racing, So we got a little share of this nice environment. The result of Thursdays Jim Dunn Racing qualify first round was unable to make within 16 out of 23 entry. On Friday I had to go to South Bay, so I dropped by Yoshi's place to check on his progress on making of his Triumph. His Triumph may be hard to ride but I think it will look good when it's done. Yoshi gave me the parts for Triumph which will not need battery to run. Battery on Triumph is visible from any angle and looks bad, so it was excellent thing for me. I will take it back and try it home, so will report to you again from Japan.(I think common parts for motorcycle industry people turn out to be something I never knew before as being in automobile industry.) One more thing Yoshi gave me information that Swap Meet for British Bike in Riverside will be on this coming Sunday, NHRA Finals is on Sunday too, I couldn't decide which event to go to. On Saturday, from morning I went to see NHRA with Makoto of MOONEYES USA. The parking lot cost more as it gets closer to the race track. Pit side is $25, Preferred is $20 (I like to do same in Japan. Closer than the general parking) and general parking is $15, parking lot depends on money too, Easy to understand. I picked pit side without doubt, Ticket is non-reserved general ticket which was $49. I saw Ryo-Kun and his friends from Rod Motors in Japan while I was having a breakfast. Last time I saw Ryo-Kun in Pomona was 1981. It was at Winternational too and long time ago. He was in San Francisco with his family and I was in Costa Mesa back then. Now racer must be serious today as racers has to clear qualify today to go to Finals on Sunday. There is 2 qualify run on Saturday but we missed first one while taking lunch at Hospitality Booth. At second qualify run, Kenji was with us and him as commentator, he's good for that because of his experience! We went up the general stand we saw Fred Larsens' partner Don Cummins grand son Danny. Even though it was both coincidence meeting with RK on Thursday and Danny on Saturday it was strange. The 4.692 second was first place passing qualify and 4.795 second was 16th Place, 0.1 second difference and there are 16 cars in between that time. Plus this years Nitro mixture is 85% according to Kenji's comments. In Kenji's time it was like 97%. Nitro mixture has decreased because of safety but speed and ET has increased. Sound was better in old days, I agreed and Kenji said "Now days a car has security alarm in parking lot doesn't even go on" which is true the security alarm used go on every where in old days races. With decrease use of Nitro, sounds surely has changed. John Force Team had his daughter Ashley in Funny Car race from this year and had 4 cars clearing qualifying round. As for result of Jim Dunn Racing was 4.816 second and did not qualify (DNQ). Budweiser King, Kenny Bernstein was in Funny Car race from this year nut even he was DNQ. That's tough race. Jim Dunn Racing wasn't qualified and rained from Saturday night, I went to the Swap Meet in Riverside on Sunday morning about 5am. The Swap Meet was small in size as rain and it was first one. Here I bought BSA rear fender with cool tail lights. Yoshi was buying parts for the second bike when he hasn't even finished his first bike. I did same, I built what I liked but it was not easy to ride and decided to make second one to ride. In his case before finishing first one he decided it was not easy to ride. The rain got hard in middle of Swap Meet so we left the place and there was a traffic on FWY caused by accident in rain. An some told me that the race was postponed to Monday. Rain stopped when I came back to Orange County and sun was showing around noon. Up so I went to a car wash but it was closed. Probably closed because It was raining in morning, but it must have been busy if they had it opened. The self car washing place was full too so end up in going back to office to wash the car. Man! NHRA Final was held on Sunday after the rain dried up. I shouldn't be washing cars. I found that out on Monday newspaper.

58th Annual Grand National Roadster Show - Motorcycle

先週末開催された、第58回 Grand National Roadster Show（GNRS）に出品されていたMotorcycleを今回は紹介します。 58年の間、開催されているという事は、1949から戦後すぐにこんなイベントが始まったなんて、アメリカは凄いですね。YOKOHAMA HOT ROD・Custom Show（HCS）はまだ15回目が終わったばかりです。GNRSから58年の歴史の積み重ねを感じます。 このイベントのTop AwardにはAmerica's Most Beautiful Motorcycle Award（AMBMC) & Hot Rod（AMBHR）があります。残念ながらブースの搬出作業が忙しく、表彰式を見られなかったのでAMBMCはどのバイクになったのか分かりません。

しかし、Bobber Classでは Gregg Coddington（Boyd CoddingtonのSon）が作ったHDが1位、

2位はCole FosterのHD、

そして3位はChopper Dave、と1位から3位までを彼らが独占してしまいました。

個人的にはScott Craigの製作したOld StyleのChopperが好きですが、残念ながら受賞は出来なかったようです。ScottのHDは2006年のHCSの時はまだ出来たてでしたが、今回は細部に至るまでしっかりFinishしていました。

この様なOld Chopperが多くなってきたのは楽しいです。

Shiftersのブースには四角いDrag SlickがカッコいいTriumphのDrag Bikeが展示されていました。この他にも沢山のHDが展示されていましたが、その中で気になったHDを紹介します。

DicE Magazine等の影響か、最近人気のTriumphはちょっと寂しく1台だけでした。

勿論 Chica Custom CyclesのChicaさんも参加していました。今年もTV出演の依頼等で大忙しのようです。

これを見てください。Speed Master Wheelの様なKidney Beanを履いています。そしてMOON Puke TankをOil Tankとして使っています。

"58th Annual Grand National Roadster Show - Motorcycle" This issue I want to report about Motorcycle seen at the 58th Grand National Roadster Show (GNRS). 58th means since 1949, makes you think How America is great with ability to do event like this right after the war. YOKOHAMA HOT ROD Custom Show (HCS) has only just finished its 15th and compared to that GNSR has the long 58 years of history. This events Top Award is America's Most Beautiful Motorcycle Award (AMBMC) & Hot Rod (AMBHR). I was busy packing to leave from the show so I couldn't see who won the AMBMC Top Award. But in Bobber Class, Gregg Coddington (Boyd Coddington' son) won the 1st place with his HD, and second was HD made by Cole Foster and third place was Chopper Dave. So from 1st to the 3rd places were taken by them. I personally like the Old Style Chopper which Scott Craig has made, but he was not awarded this time. Scott's HD was not even finished when it came to HCS but now its all finish even the details. It's great to see this kind of Old Chopper increasing. Shifters had Triumph Drag Bike with cool square rear tire displayed at booth. There were many other HD on displayed but will introduce some I thought it was interesting. With effect of DicE Magazine, the Triumph is getting popular now but sadly only one entry there. Of course Mr. Chica of Chica Custom Cycles was there too. Looks like he is going to be busy again with TV appearance on this year too. Take a look at this Kidney Bean Wheel which looks very much like Speed Master Wheel. Busy Weekend #01

忙しいWeekendでした。 1月26日(金）～28日(日）の3日間はPomonaでGrand National Roadster Showが開催され、1月27日(土）はSCTA（Southern California Timing Association）の主催する2006 Dry Lake Seasonの表彰式を兼ねたDinner Partyがあり、

1月28日(日）朝はLong Beach Swap Meetに行き、その足でBurbankであったペイント関連のショーを見て、今度はLAにあるPetersen Museumで開催されているEd "Big Daddy" Roth展を見に行きPomonaに戻る、という強行スケジュールでした。 たった3日間ですがさすがSouthern California、車のメッカです。沢山の事が起きてました。全てを一辺にブログに載せるのは無理なので3～4回に分けてお送りします。

まずはSCTAのAnnual Trophy Presentation and Dinner Party、2006シーズンに築かれた様々な記録に対し表彰するPartyです。土曜日の5pmからPomonaの隣街、Ontarioで開催されました。

ショーは10pm（長い！）まで開催されているので、この日は途中で抜け出しOntarioに向かいました。5時からはじまるのでショーが終わる前までにはショー会場に戻れると思っていましたが、なんとPartyが終わったのは10時を過ぎてしまい、戻る事が出来ませんでした。

5時間以上に渡る長いPartyはまずラッフル（抽選）で始まりました。各スポンサーが提供する賞品を、1枚$1で購入した抽選券の番号で当てるわけですから、沢山チケットを買った方が確立も高くなるわけです。が、僕は10枚買いましたが何も当たりませんでした。こう言うのは非常に弱いのです。抽選や推薦は当たった事がありません。ラッフルの途中でBean Banditのフリオ君達もPartyにやって来ました。

MOONEYESはDry Lake Raceでは必需品のMOON Fuel Tankを毎年賞品として提供しています。大変人気が高いので何時も一番最後の賞品になっています。今年はGreat Bear RacingのMr. & Mrs. Bussell夫妻がラッキーな事にMOON Fuel Tankを当てました。

Dean MOONのBuddy、Safety EquipmentのDIEST、Legendary Mr. DIESTもPartyに参加していました。

その後、Dinnerを食べながら延々と表彰式が続いたのです。Dinnerは勿論ステーキ。そのステーキが久々にあごが疲れるくらい硬い肉で、最近はあまり見かけませんでしたが、まだ存在していたのですね。硬い肉にはベーキンソーダをガンガン掛けてから焼くと柔らかくなるそうです、お試し下さい。

さて表彰式ですが、写真でご覧の通り沢山のTrophyが準備され、

様々な賞が用意されていました。

これらを全部手渡しするのですから時間が掛かるのも仕方ありません。SCTA/BNIではNHRAの様に賞金は出ませんから、このTrophyだけが唯一の御褒美なんです。隣の人も表彰され、受賞後もらったTrophyを感慨深げに眺めていたのが印象的でした。

フリオ君達 Bean Banditのメンバー、フェイビアン君も表彰されました。

Fred Larsenのパートナー、Don Cumminsの孫のDanny君はナイトロ・ブローワー付きRoadsterに乗っています。お爺さんから孫へとLake Spiritが継承されています。素晴らしいですね。 さて、今Season終わりには隣に居るChicoも何か表彰されるといいのですが？？そんな事より車を仕上げる方が先ですよね！

It was a busy weekend. From Friday 26th to Sunday 28th, The Grand Nationals Roadster Show was hosted at Pomona, California and at same time, On Saturday 27th, SCTA (Southern California Timing Association) hosted Annual Trophy Presentation and Dinner Party for 2006 Dry Lake Season Award. On Sunday 28th, went to Long Beach Swap Meet in the morning, Paint related event in Burbank after that, next went to Petersen Museum in LA where Ed "Big Daddy" Roth Show was hosted and then went back to Pomona. It was a very hard schedule. It was only a three days but Southern California is a real home of Cars, there were so many things happening. It's too much to list on just one issue of Blog, so will make 3 or 4 issue to report. First the SCTA Annual Trophy Presentation and Dinner Party, all kind of award was given to records made in 2006 season. The party started from 5 p.m. on Saturday at Ontario in next town to Pomona. On Saturday we left Pomona to Ontario as the Grand Nationals Roadster Show in Pomona was open until 10 p.m. We thought we make it back to Pomona before 10 pm as SCAT Party started from 5 p.m. but we couldn't make it before 10 p.m. as party ended after 10 p.m.. More than 5 hours long party started with Ruffle. The ruffle ticket was one dollar each and will win if numbers on ticket meet, So more tickets means more chance to win the award from sponsors. I bought 10 tickets but didn’t win anything. I am not good at this. Never won in ruffle or this kind of games. In middle of ruffle Julio and others from the Bean Bandit arrived to the party. As a Sponsor MOONEYES has been donating MOON Fuel Tank as ruffle present and this Dry Lake Race necessary part is most popular and wanted in this ruffle. So it's always presented as Last ruffle present. This year the MOON Fuel Tank went to lucky Mr. & Mrs. Bussell of Great Bear Racing. Dean MOON's Buddy, Legendary Mr. DIEST of DIEST Safety Equipment was there at Party too. After ruffle the dinner was served and trophy presentation continued. Now the trophy presentation is like in picture there were so many trophy and award. All of these are presented by hands so can't help party to take long time. The SCTA/BNI has no reward in cash, only reward is the trophy. The person on next time had received award and it was impressive to see how he was looking at trophy with deep emotion. Bean Bandit member, Fabian was presented with award too. Fred Larsen's partner, Don Cummins grand son Danny drives Roadster with Nitro/ Blower. From grand father to grand children the Lake Spirit is inherited. That's excellent. Well, I hope to see Chico sitting next to me will get presented with award by the end of next season. Finish building the race car is more important before that, right?

MOONEYESのSpecial

毎年XmasになるとMOONEYESではワインやシャンパンにMOON Logoを入れたり、プレゼント用に何か特別な物にLogoを入れたりしています。

最初の2本はワインでもシャンパンでもなく、1998年頃の物でOil & Vinegarのセットです。これは多分MOOEYES USAでしか配られなかった物だと思います。

次は"WOODBRIGE" California Wine Red & Whiteです。WOODBRIDGEは日本でも買えますし、値段も大変手頃でしかも美味しいワインです。多分1999年位に作ったかもしれません。

もう1本は"KORBEL" California CHAMPAGNEです。これは他のロゴと違ってペイントされています。これは2000年でしょうか？

どれも何時の物かまったく覚えてませんが、古いのは確かです。もったいなくて栓を抜く訳にいかず、何年もそのまま飾ってありますが、あまり古くなったら味はどうなってしまうのでしょうか？最近では焼酎で”MOON CHOU”何ていうのもありました。MOONEYESのSpecial Noveltiesでした。

Every Xmas MOONEYES put in MOON Logo to Wine, Champagne or something special as a gift. First two bottles were not Wine nor Champagne but Oil & Vinegar set in 1998. I think it was available in MOONEYES USA. Next was "WOODBRIDGE" California Wine Red & White. WOODBRIDGE is available in Japan too and its very nice wine with reasonable price. Probably made around 1999. The another one is “KORBEL” California CHAMPAGNE. This one was painted unlike other etched Logos. May be it was made on year 2000. Can't quite remember when these were all made but sure they are old. It was too nice to open but after being displayed for couple years wonder what they will taste like. Recently there was "MOON CHOU" SHOU CHOU (Japanese sweet potato and wheat hard liquors ). It was MOONEYES' (MOON OF JAPAN ) Special Novelties.

Visitors

2006年も明日一日となりました。 今年も沢山のお客様がMOONEYES Area-1にお越し下さいました。本当にありがとうございます。今年は特に海外からのVisitorが大変多かったです。イタリア、ドイツ、イギリス、フランス、スウェーデン、オーストラリア、マレーシア、台湾、香港、韓国そしてアメリカです。

昨日もShopに居ると、外国のお客様がガイドブックを片手に来店しました。話掛けるとLos Angeles, Californiaから友人数名と観光で来ているとの事。「今は東京の友人宅に泊まりながら、あっちこっちを廻っている。今日、友人達は京都に行ったけど自分はMOONEYESに来たかったので京都はパスした」って嬉しいじゃありませんか？車で来るにはArea-1は便利ですが、公共機関での来店は日本人でも面倒なのに、まして不慣れな海外の方にとっては大変な場所です。そこをガイドブックを頼りに来てくれるのはありがたいです。 その彼は「この前のMOONEYES USA Xmas Party "Show & Drag"は最高だったね」から始まり色々と話していると、彼のUSAの友人から「もしMOONEYESに行くならCrown ClassicsはCoolだ、何かCrown Classicsの物を買って来てくれ」と頼まれた、と言うのでまたビックリ！11月のSEMAショーでMOONEYESブースにいたら、メリーランド州から来たという人から「MS60 クジラ クラウンの部品はありませんか？」って訪ねられた時もビックリしましたが、昨日も驚いてしまいました。確かにCaliforniaで若い世代にとっては見た事が無い、古い日本車旧車はブームになりつつあります。

また、イタリアから来たカップルは行きたいShopが【幸福商会(横浜、現在は葉山)・Bull Original(横浜)・Four(東京)・Brat Style(埼玉)】とリストされていたので行き方を説明してあげたら、電車・バス・タクシー等を乗り継ぎ、全てのShopを廻ったそうです。でもBrat Styleは横浜からでは大変なのでBull Originalのヨネさんが一緒に連れて行ってあげたそうです。ヨネさんは優しいです。

昔は僕らがUSAに行き、あっちこっちの店を廻ると「おー！日本から来たの、良く来たね」って歓待されたものですが（MOONの親父も歓迎してくれたな）、今では日本に来たVisitorを僕らが歓待する事になるくらい、日本の車・バイク文化が世界で注目を集めているという事です。イタリアのカップルは各Shopで買いたい物を気持ち良い位買い付けていました。まるで30年前USAに初めて行った時の自分を見るようでした。 と、2006年は外国人Visitorの多い年でした。 1年間 ブログでお付き合い頂きましてありがとうございました。 皆様　どうぞ素晴らしい2007年 新年をお迎え下さい。 P.S. 最近、英語の分かるスタッフが必要だなと実感しています。世界は狭くなっていますね。 Shige 菅沼 新年 1月3日(水) のブログはお休みします。

"Visitors" One day left for 2006! Many customers visited MOONEYES Area-1 through this year too. Like to thank all of our customers. Especially there were many visitors from abroad this year. There were customers from Italy, Germany, England, France, Sweden, Australia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea and USA. Yesterday, there was a customer with guide book in hand who stepped into the shop as I was in there. As I asked, customer came from Los Angeles, California with couple of friends for sight seeing. They were staying at friend house in Tokyo and visiting various places. That day his friends were going to visit Kyoto but he came on his own to MOONEYES instead of Kyoto. Isn't that Cool? Access to MOONEYES Area-1 is easy by car but difficult by public transportation for people from abroad as even residents find it hard to come by and must be very hard if not familiar with the public transportation. It's pleasing to see that people came by with guide book in hand to place like this. He has mentioned that "MOONEYES USA Xmas Party "Show & Drag" was Cool!". And I was surprised to hear that his friend has asked him to buy some stuff from "Crown Classics", as his friends mentioned "Crown Classics" is cool. I was surprised when people from Maryland, USA came up to MOONEYES Booth in 2006 SEMA Show in Las Vegas and asked for 1972 MS60 Toyota Crown parts, but I was surprised again with this one yesterday. The young generation in California has new trends of Japanese Classic cars that they haven't even seen. There was a couple from Italy who wanted to visit shops that were listed like KOFUKU SHOUKAI (YOKOHAMA), Bull Original(YOKOHAMA), Four(Tokyo), Brat Style(Saitama). I explained to them how to get to all of places by public transport, and they did visit all shop by train, bus, and taxi. But Brat Style is hard to go by, so Bull Original's Yone-san has took them to there. Yone-san is very kind. Back in the days, we were going to various places in USA and all shops used to say that you came all the way from Japan and welcomed us( Dean MOON welcomed me too). Now we are welcoming the visitors coming to Japan and that's how the Japanese Car and Motorcycle Culture are getting attention from all over the world. The couple from Italy was buying like they want to in each shop. It was just like watching myself when I first went to USA for first time in 30 years ago. The year 2006 was year of many visitors from abroad. Thank you for all readers of reading my Blog for one year. Wish everyone a Happy New Year and great 2007. P.S. Gasser Style

Xmasは良かったですか？ 2006年のHCSでUSAからやってきたChevy IIのようなGasserスタイルが2006年のUSAではブームのようでした。

フロントをストレート アクセルにし、車高が高く、しかもリアタイヤを少し前方にずらす事で発進時ウェイト トランスファーを後方に掛け発進時のトラクションを良くする為らしいですが、どうもこの手は昔のFunny Car等でも見られた方法でGasserという大きな括りで 一まとめにする事は出来ないようです（詳しくはCruisin' マガジン 45号を読んでください）。

とはいってもこのスタイルは今のUSAでは旬のようで、その数はイベントごとに増えています。昔の車を発掘してきたり、Newを作ったり、何かが流行りだすと結構な台数になるのがUSAは凄いです。このGasserスタイルに欠かせないのがMOON Fuel Tank、それも最近復刻されたスプリングタイプのブラケットのがピッタリです。 今回は今年撮影したGasserスタイルを集めてみました。

How was your Xmas? Like the Chevy II which came to HCS 2006 from USA, The Gasser style was popular in USA for 2006. High raised front end with straight axle and rear tire moved forward to move the weight transfer to rear to make better traction at take off but this is way old funny car used to do and not exactly included in Gasser style (please refer to Cruisin' Magazine Vol.045, though its in Japanese). But in anyway this style is getting popular in USA and number is increasing at each event. Finding the old ones or building new ones when something gets popular Good number increase in USA which I think is amazing. This Gasser Style needs The MOON Fuel Tank, especially the new released Old School spring type bracket which was reproduced recently. This time I have gathered all picture of Gasser Style I took in this year.

Kawasaki Double-Sixfifty(W-650) "Lake Style"

雑誌 ライトニング別冊 Vol.34 "VINTAGE AUTO 5"の依頼でカワサキ W-650をカスタムする事となりました。 まず第一印象は「何てTriumphにそっくりなタンクなの」プラス バーティカル ツインの古臭いエンジンは60年代のTriumphを演出するには十分ですが、それに対し、黒いフロントフォークやハブ。ナゼ黒なの？古臭く作っているのにナゼ古い雰囲気がしないの？と色々疑問の残るW-650です。

エンジンのスタイルからしてBobberかChopperがいいなと思い、シャーシ加工の相談にBrat Styleの高嶺君を訪ねたのが9月。良く話してみると彼も本誌ライトニングでW-400の企画が入っているとの事。国産ベースのChopperで第一人者の彼が作るのではとてもたちうち出来ないので早々に失礼し、Chopper/Bobberの案は御蔵入り。

じゃあ70年代のBonnevilleを走るLake Style Racerのイメージ。リアショックは取り払い、リジットバーを装着し、車高を下げるスタイルは70年代の代表的スタイル。大きなアメリカ人がリジットバーの付いたCB750でフリーウェイを走る姿がいまだに脳裏に残っていたので、そのスタイルを再現する事にしました。

出来るだけ車高を低くし、尚且つ走行に支障が無い程度の長さのリジットバーをワンオフで製作し、黒いフロント フォーク ケースやハブはアルミ ポリッシュに見えるペイントをし、光るべき所は光らせ、ヘッドライト ステーやウインカーはスマートな小ぶりの物に交換。マフラーもサイレンサーが入ったショートタイプに変更、更にシートはノーマルのスポンジを削り落とし、カバーはタック＆ロールで新調し着座位置はかなり低くなりました。

タンクはニーグリップパッドを取り払い、サイドカバーに合わせブラックに再塗装、ミラーは車に使うピープミラーをステーを作成し取り付けました。このアイデア、One Lowの作ったHDから頂戴したのですが、結構見易いのでビックリしました。バイク用のミラーはステーが長いですがこれは小ぶりでステーが短く、視認性の良いミラーです。

サイドカバーに描かれた"P 650 P"にもちゃんと理由があります。頭の"P"はProduction Motor（つまりノーマルエンジンという意味）、"650"は排気量、最後の"P"はProduction Frame（ノーマルフレームという意味）。早い話がノーマルのバイクって事ですが、これはBonnevilleやEl Mirageで行われるLand Speed Recordを主催しているSCTAのレギュレーションの区分けです。タイヤはフロントがAvon Speedmaster 350-19、リアもAvon MK II 350-18、古臭いタイヤはよりLake Styleを強調しています。

ノーマルのWと比べると低さもスタイルも違います。こんな感じでハイウェイをクルーズしたら気持ちいいですよ、その時足はリアステップに乗せてくださいね。その為にリアステップは残してあります。

Kawasaki Double-Sixfifty(W-650) "Lake Style" We custom made Kawasaki Double-Sixfifty(W-650) by the request from Magazine called Lightning: Special Issue. The first impression was that it looks just like a Triumph, vertical twin engine looks old and looks like triumph in 60s too. But why is front folk and hub were black? Why does it not have that old looks? So many questions come out from this bike. I thought of making Bobber or Chopper from the looks of engine and went to Brat Style Mr. Takamine for chassis modifying in September but hearing that he also had Lighting Magazine regular issue request for custom works on W 400. As He is the first one to modify domestic Japanese bikes to a Chopper, we stand no chance. We left early and decided to lock up the Chopper & Bobber idea. So we changed plan to make a 70's style with image of Bonneville "Lake Style" Racer and lowered by the one off ridged bar instead of rear shocks. I still remember the tall American rider cruised on freeway on CB750 with ridged bars and So this time I decided to make it in that style. I had ridged bar made so I can ride with lowest height. Black front folk case, hub were painted to look like aluminum polish so shiny parts are shiny. Bracket of headlight and turn signal light were changed to sleek and smaller. Mufflers were changed to short size with silencers and seats were cut and covered by tuck & roll. Seating position was lower now. Tanks had knee grip pad taken off and painted black to match with side covers, mirrors were taken off and Peep mirror for automobile's custom parts were mounted with custom made bracket. Bike's mirrors have long arms but this really short and good view and the sight is good too. Side panel paint "P 650 P", "P" means production engine, "650" as engine size and last "P" means production frame and that means stock bike. This code is Bonneville and El Mirage Land Speed Record host SCTA's regulation rules. Tires are Avon Speed Master 350-19, rear Avon Mk II 350-18, old tire makes it more Lake style. The style is lower than normal and style is different too. It will be nice to cruise like this, please put your foot on rear steps. That's why the rear steps are kept, not for extra passenger.

日曜日はPRAの2006年最終戦、PRA/Daytona Speed TrialのHelpで仙台へ行って来ました。

仙台ハイランドレースウェイは珍しく？天気も良く、11月にしては汗ばむ気候でした。Daytona Speed Trialは約50台ものエントリーがあり、PRAのVWと合わせると80台近くになりそうなので人手が足りない、とPRA会長の竹沢君から依頼され、今回はPRAスタッフのHelpでした。

仕事はスタートラインで出走車のコントロールです。Helpの仕事は勿論ですが、沢山の車のステージングを見れるベストな場所なので、Helpをしながらカメラを構え、写真を沢山撮りました。

特に今回目立ったのがChrysler系のマッスルカーでした。

10秒台に入った"MOON Chot II"、おっと"MOON Shot II"でした。

雰囲気最高です。

		9秒台を出したCuda。8秒台を狙っている。

また、タイムも9秒台を出す車が3台もあり、日本のDrag Raceも遂に9秒台に突入です。速くなるのは感動的ですが、早くなれば成る程、安全はしっかりしたいものですね。2007年、もっと速くなる車も出現する事と思います。まだ一度も仙台ハイランドまで行った事が無い貴方、来年こそは一緒にDrag Raceを楽しみましょう！ 2007年は Fast, Faster, Fastest！もっと速くなりますよ。

"Last Weekend" On Last weekend I was at booth opened in Harley Davidson only Motorcycle show called "Cool Breaker" at Pacifico Yokohama and on Sunday I went to the Sendai northern Japan for helping PRA/Daytona Speed Trial Drag Race for 2006 finals. Sendai Highland Raceway was in fine weather which is rare case and it was hot for November. Daytona Speed Trial had about 50 cars on entry and with 30 of PRA VWs total about 80 cars were too much to handle and PRA president Mr.Takezawa had asked for helping hand, So I was there as PRA staff. My job was helping organizing cars at start line. It was Job but nice job as I could see all cars staging and I was taking pictures while I was helping cars at there. This time Chrysler Muscle cars had a lot of attention. There were 3 cars hit 9 seconds and Japan Drag Scene has finally came in to this 9 seconds class. Its exciting to see car get fast but safety is necessary and need to be looked into as cars get fast. In 2007 faster cars may come up. For people who has not been to the Sendai Highland for Drag Race, Let's go and enjoy Drag Race together on next year. 2007 will be fast, faster, fastest. Will be much faster.

SEMA Show 2006

今年もSEMA ショーに行って来ました。世界中の車関係者がラスベガスに集まってきます。 僕はショー前日、月曜日の夕方に飛行機でラスベガス空港に到着しましたが、普段なら15分くらいの距離で、なんと1時間近くかかってホテルにたどり着きました。何十万人のショー関係者が一気にこの街にやってくるのですから道は大渋滞です。 ショー初日、人が少ないうちに気になった車の写真を撮りに会場を廻る事にしました。会場で特に多かったのが現行Mustangです。

やはり人気車種ですからMustang用部品を取り扱うAfter Marketは多いです。 それと60年代のあらゆるメーカーの車をベースにしたカスタムです。

例えば外見はMustangでも中身はまるで違う、半端ではないカスタムです。

今度HCSにやってくる、So Calが作った'66 ChevelleもUSAで今流行の流れを汲んだ一台ですから、HCS会場で是非見てください。 そんな凄いカスタムばかりの会場で僕が選んだのは1967年 Mustangです。

フェンダーへのタイヤの収まり具合とか、当時のFunny Carのようです。特にフロントのイメージはまさにそのままFunny Carです。

外ではAmerican MuscleというコーナーにSox & Martin等に代表される、歴代のMOPAR Drag Race Carが展示されていました。

Dick LandyのChallengerは実物が走っているのは見た事ありませんが、70年代後半の彼のRace Carは良くOCIRで走っていたのを覚えています。またその車はCosta MesaのBaker StreetとHabor BlvdのコーナーにあったGas Station裏で、Race前になる準備する姿を良く見かけたものです。その車が置いてあると「Raceが近いな」って感じがした、懐かしい名前です。SEMA ショーを見るたびに思いますが、古い車が生き残れるマーケットも新しい車のマーケットも混在するUSAの車文化には感心します。

今回、MOONEYESはNew ProductsとしてSpeed Master Wheel、MOON Three Gauge Set、MOON Remote Oil Filter Kit、Metal Flake Steering Wheel Green & Orange、それと50年代の復刻 MOON Fuel Tankを出展しました。

特にこのFuel Tank、取り付け部分は昔のスプリングタイプ、Spinner Capも当時の物、Fuel Tank Labelも当時の物を正確に復刻、つまり「MOON Equipment Company」と入っています。そして何より凄いのは当時からTank等を作っているBillが、同じ物を2006年の今、作ったFuel Tankです。それが一番価値があります。是非この機会にお部屋のDisplayに1個どうですか？そのくらい価値あるMOON Fuel Tankの復活です。

こうして1日ブースにいるとMOONEYESを訪ねて来る人は年配者が多いです。それとHot Rod好きな若者とヨーロッパからの人達です。ここ数年ヨーロッパではHot Rodを中心としたKustom Kulture文化が物凄い勢いで広まっています。SEMA ショーは何時でも新しいトレンドが発見され、普段会えない人と会える最高の場所です。なんとKenji Okazakiもフラフラしていましたよ。

"SEMA Show 2006" Went to the SEMA show this year too. The people in Automobile industry come to Las Vegas from all over the world. I flew in on day before the show on Monday at Las Vegas Int'l Airport but took 1 hour to get to hotel where it usually take 15 min. or so. Couple hundred thousand people come to this town for the show and its jammed traffic on the road. On first show day, I went around to take the picture of cars while less people in the show space. The current Mustang showed strong in the show space. Its popular car so there are many aftermarket parts for Mustang. Plus custom car based on 60s' and 50's with all kind of makes. For example looks Mustang outside but absolutely different inside. The 1966 Chevelle that will be coming to "YOKOHAMA HOT ROD Custom Show 2006" from USA So Cal is also custom of this trend so please come and see at the show. I picked this 1967 Mustang among full of that altered custom in the show. How tires are settled in fender is just like that days Funny Car taste. Specially the front is just like it was (Old Funny cars). At outside in American Muscle Corner, Sox & Martin and other famous MOPAR Drag Race Car were Exhibited at show. I never seen real Dick Landy's Challenger running but in last half of 70s' I remember his Race Car (late model of MOPAR) was running at OCIR. I forgot the name of car. That car used to be at back of Gas station on Baker Street and Habor Blvd in Costa Mesa on before the race and always made me feel that race is on soon when I see that car being worked on there. Every time I see the SEMA show I am amazed for USA car culture to have market for old cars to continue to live and market for new car exist at same time. This time MOONEYES has New Products like this Speed Master Wheel, MOON Three Gauge Set, MOON Remote Oil Filter Kit, Metal Flake Steering Wheel Green & Orange and 50s' revival MOON Fuel Tank. Specially this Fuel Tank, the strap is old school spring style, Spinners Cap are same as back then, Fuel Tank Label was made just like it was in the Old Days, with "MOON Equipment Company". What is most extraordinary is that same builder Bill Jenks who made the tank back then is making this New Tank in 2006. That's most valuable. How about one for display in your room? That's how valuable it is. I can see that there are many people who visit our booth in 1 whole day and they are mostly older generation. Plus Young ones interested in Hot Rod and People from Europe. In these years in Europe, The Kustom Kulture with Hot Rod is spreading out with great speed. SEMA Show is always place to find the new trend and place to see the people who don’t get to see in every day life. See, I found Kenji Okazaki (former NHRA Funny Car Driver) was walking around too.

東京 インターナショナル ギフトショー

	今週は8日(金)までお台場 ビックサイト 国際展示会場で開催された「東京 インターナショナル ギフトショー」にRat Fink関連の新製品を中心に出展しました。 ギフトショーは毎年春と秋に開催され、世界中からバイヤーや出展者も参加してくる世界規模のイベントです。MOONEYESも今年で7年目くらいになるのでしょうか、毎回出展しています。

今回はRat Fink, Clay Smith, Flex The Cat and The Selected MOONEYES Itemsのコーナーを設け、それぞれ新製品を発表しました。

	Rat FinkはなんといってもEd Rothの名作カー Beatnik Bandit、

	そしてX'mas用には、USAピックアップに乗るRat Fink Santaをモンスター達が出迎えています。

	Rat Finkがドライブするこの3台はAshtrayです。置物としても楽しめますがSmokerにはとっても必需品のAshtray。こんなのが自宅のテーブルの上にあったらいいですよね。

どれも年末位をゴールに発売開始の予定です。

	その他、Rat Fink Headのライセンスボルトやシフトノブ、メタルフレークの車検証ケースなど新商品が続々です。楽しみにしていてください。今回のブログはちょっと商売ベースになってしまいましたね。

話は変わって、今USAでこんな感じのクルマ結構いますね。僕らの時代に流行ったスタイルですが、今の時代に焼き直すと結構難しいのです。 まずタイヤに選択幅が無い、MTだけではまかないきれませんね。最低L60-15位はリアに履きたいのですが、そのサイズになると一番使いたくないMTがもっともポピュラーだというのも寂しいです。トンネルラムインテークにW-ポンパー 2個、それで当時はヒーローだったのです。そう、MOTIONの"M"をかたちどったストライプ、MOTION人気ありましたね！

"Tokyo International Gift Show" This week until 8th. Friday, Rat Fink New arrival items were displayed mainly at Tokyo International Gift Show held at Tokyo Big Sight International Exhibition Center. Gift Show is held every year on Spring and Fall with many visitors and vendors from all over the world and it's world wide event for buyers. MOONEYES has exhibited every year for about 7 years. This time, new items were released from Rat Fink, Clay Smith, Flex The Cat and selected MOONEYES items, with each corners made for each items. Rat Fink New Items are Ed Big Daddy Roth's famous had build fiberglass car called "Beatnik Bandit" and for X'mas, Rat Fink Santa on USA Pick Up is welcomed by famous monsters for cerebrating Very Merry X'mas. These Blown three cars Rat Fink drives are all ashtray. It looks fun just looking at it as figures but it's necessary item for smokers and wouldn't it be fun with ashtray like this on your table. All items will be on sale by before X'mas. Plus, Rat Fink Head License Bolts, Shift Knobs, Metal Flake Color Memo Case and other new items are out too. Please look forward to it. By the way, now this style Hot Rods are seen more in USA. They were hot in my days back in 70s but hard to make same style it sued to be now. First, not much choice left over on selection of tires. MT won't cover everything. I want to have Good Year Rally GT L60-15 on rear, at least, but very hard to find that kind of tires now. It was my hero back then with Tunnel Ram Intake with dual Holley W-Pumper Carbs and MOTION's "M" stripe on Camaro.

ハイエーストランスポーター Moving Show Room

バイクを運ぶにはトラックが一番、って以前書きましたが、天候とか色々な事情でそうも行かない場合もあると思います。

トラックが駄目だとパネルトラックかバンという事になりますが、サイドガラスがティントしてあって中が見えないバンとか、パネルの為これもまた何も見えないパネルトラックとかでは車内のバイクが見えません。折角カッコいいバイクを運ぶのですから　運ぶ車もカッコよくして下さい。そしてその中にカッコいいバイクが入っているのが見えるなんてお洒落ではありませんか。

MOONEYESが提案するバイク用トランスポーターバンは写真の様なサイドガラスがクリアーで中が丸見えのバンです。こういうバンでカスタムバイクを運んだら夢がありますよね。これなら雨や盗難の心配もありませんからトラックより重宝だと思います。ただ運ぶだけのバンから見せるトランスポーターにしましょう。

MOONEYESではこういうバンをMoving Show Roomと呼びます。

"Moving Show Room" I recommended trucks for carrying motorcycle before but in some circumstances, like in heavy rain and thunder, may be you need another way to carry. If in case truck is not good, then panel trucks and vans comes in handy, but when all windows are tinted or panels are fixed on side, no one can get to see the inside. If you are carrying nice Show Motorcycle, it makes sense to carry on nice vehicle. And it would even be much better if you can get to see the bike inside that COOL vehicle. MOONEYES recommend carrying motorcycle on transporter vans with all side glass clear to see inside. It would be nice to carry custom motorcycle on vans like that. This should get rain and theft away from the motorcycle so convenient than trucks. Remember don't carry your show bike on just a carrier, but carry it on transporters ready to show. MOONEYES call this kind of Van a "Moving Show Room".

20th Anniversary MOONEYES

今日5月17日でMOONEYESは丸20年が経ちました。 Dean MOONに「お前はMOON Of Japanだ」と命名され、1986年5月17日、横浜・元町の元町プラザ2階に、MOON Discと少量のMOONパーツ、USA関連グッズ、それとFord Cobra関連グッズ、古いCan Amや日本グランプリとかのポスターを扱った、ノスタルジアなレーシングシーンを感じる店とし、今とはまったく違う商品ラインアップでスタートしました。MOONEYESの名前は彼のDragsterから頂戴しました。

もちろん狙った年齢層も当時で40歳位の方々、軽免許がまだ取れた時代の層、つまり日本グランプリやCan Am、Indy等、USAレースが紙面を飾り、東京青山にあったRQ（Racing Quarterly）等に思いを馳せ、オートスポーツ誌にはMOONやShelbyロゴのTシャツやステッカーが掲載され、テンガロンハット（Cowboy Hat）が流行った時代の方々を対象、と考えていました。

当時、CobraのポスターやTシャツ、Shelby Teamのシャツとか日本では皆無だったので、開店当初は結構お客様がCobraグッズ目当てで来店して下さいました。世の中Cobraが好きな方は沢山いらっしゃいますね。欧州車好きな方でもCobraだけは好きっていう方は沢山いらっしゃいます。Cobraは特別なんですね。そういう僕も65 GT350ファンです。

また、Cobraの第1号車はMOON（現MOONEYES）でFredとかが手伝って作られたのですから、Cobra関連グッズをMOONEYESで扱う事は、ごく自然の流れだったのです。そんなCobra好きのお客様の一人がなんと今では日本のピンストライパーのパイオニアであり第一人者であるワイルドマン石井だったのです。彼はこの時代に1968 Shelby ＧＴ350をMOONEYESから購入してくれたのです（MOONEYESの輸入車第一号でもあります）。大変いいお客様でした。

MOON Equipment Company（現 MOONEYES, USA）で 製作中のCobra1号車。車に乗るのはFred Larsen。

そんないい感じのレーシング思い出グッズを販売していたMOONEYESの転換期は、その年の夏に富士スピードウェイで開催された、Ｆｌａｔ-4主催のFamily Dayに飛び込みでスワップミートを出店させて頂いた事がきっかけで、現在のスタイルに定着したのです。その後、石井青年はMOONEYESに就職、日本で初めての本格ピンストライパーとなったのです。 そんなこんなで山あり谷あり、そして21年目に突入しました。これからもどうぞ宜しく御願いします。今晩はスタッフの皆とガレージ前で20周年のBBQです。

"20th Anniversary MOONEYES" As of Today May 17th, 20 years went by for MOONEYES. Dean MOON named me "MOON OF Japan" and on May 17th 1986, I started shop with different style compared to our current one where Nostalgia Racing Scene can be felt through MOON Disc, some MOON parts, USA related goods, Ford Cobra related goods, old Can-Am and NIPPON Grand Prix posters, at 2nd floor of Motomachi Plaza building in Motomachi, Yokohama Japan. MOONEYES name was taken from MOON'S Dragster "MOONEYES". The first advertisement in Japan was not on "Custom Car" but on "Car Magazine" which Japanese readers can imagine that shop had more of race scene image than custom cars. The customers over 40 years old were targeted. It is the age group who knows existence of "Light weight Car license" in Japan, read about Japan Grand Prix and US Races like Can-Am, Indy on news paper, was inspired by RQ(Racing Quarterly-Old Speed Shop) in Aoyama Tokyo Japan, experienced time when Auto Sports magazine had MOON, Shelby Logo T-shirts and Sticker were listed and Cow boy hat with MOON Patch was very popular in the fashion scene in Japan. Back then, posters and T-shirts of Cobra and Shelby Team were not available in Japan so in opening days there were many customers Who came to look for Cobra goods. There are many people who like Cobra and even for people who like European cars, Cobra was an only exception. Cobra is special. I am also fun of '65 GT350. The 1st Cobra was made with help of Fred Larsen and assembled in garage of MOON(current MOONEYES) Santa Fe Spring, Ca, so it was natural to sell Cobra related goods at MOONEYES. The Wildman Ishii was one of our customer who loves Cobra and became Japans pioneer and the first Pinstriper. He has purchased 1968 Shelby GT350 from MOONEYES at that time, which was also the 1st car MOONEYES imported to Japan and he was a very good customer. The change of MOONEYES came as inspired to be in our current style after suddenly dropping by to entry for Swap meet in "Family-Day" at FUJI SPEEDWAY in Japan, Which was hosted by "Flat-4". After that Young man Mr. Ishii has joined MOONEYES and became the first Pinstriper in Japan. Like this and that, so we are in our 21st year of business. MOONEYES Original Wheel

MOONEYES オリジナル Speed Master Wheel（SMW）をMOON Equipped VW T-IIに履いてみました。どうですか、カッコいいでしょ！今はサンプルしかありませんが、6月中旬までには発売開始にこぎつけそうです。 サイズは15×5、しかしオフセットはT-Iのストックブレーキ車、また主にナロードサスペンション車には+13mm、車外Discブレーキ、ドロップスピンドル装着車、主にストックサスペンション車には+21mm、と2種類のオフセットを用意しました。カラーはOld SchoolのマググレーとCalifornian Full Polishの2種類。

5inch幅のみのこだわりは、VWに入るタイヤサイズの中でラジアルタイヤを使用してドラッグスリックやベルテッドバイアスタイヤのようにタイヤの角を四角くしたい場合は、5Jが一番キマるのです（画像のT-I）。 幅が5inch以上あると、サイドウォールが丸くなってしまいます。

5月14日(日) 大磯で開催される"Flash Bugs Meeting"にSMW装着のT-I ＆ T-IIを展示予定です。また会場では今回のVWホイル製作担当スタッフも居ますからドンドン質問を浴びせてください。次は5月28日(日) フランスのSuper VW ショー、6月11日(日) California USAで開催される"VW Classics"に展示予定です。国内は6月4日(日) One Low主催の"High & Low"に参加予定です。 Speed Master Wheelが6月全世界に向けて一斉発売開始です。

"MOONEYES' New Wheels" Matched our MOONEYES ORIGINAL Speed Master Wheel (SMW) on our MOON Equipped 1960 VW T-II. How does it look for early VWs? Great isn't it. Now we have sample only and should be available from middle of June. Size is 15X5 only, but 2 type of offset is available. With +13mm offset will match with T-1 stock brake or with narrowed suspension. With +21mm offset will match with after market disc brake or with drop spindle and with stock suspension. 2 colors are also available, one is Old School Mag-Grey and Californian Full Polish. 5 inch wheel width is best for VW when using Radial Tire with look of square shoulders on Drag Slick and Steel Belted Bias Tires. More than 5inch width on the wheel will make the shoulder of the tire to go round but not square. Will display the T-I and T-II with SMW at "Flash Bugs Meeting" in OISO Japan on Sunday May 14th. 遂にEnkei/MOONEYESのコラボレーションで誕生したEnkei Baja II 16×7 6H +38が発売開始となりました。

トヨタ 200系ハイエースにパーフェクト フィット、またニッサン ミニトラックにもご覧のようにパーファクトフィットです。6ラグ（穴）ホイルはスマートなデザインが少なかったですが、これで大きく選択幅が広がりました。

便利なフェンダーカバー

フェンダーカバーって知ってますか。 写真のようにフェンダーに載せておけば、車いじりの際、特にエンジン等をいじる時は大変便利な物です。 体をエンジンルームへ突っ込んだらズボンのベルトバックルでボディに傷を付けちゃった、なんて経験のある人もいると思います。しかしこのフェンダーカバーを使えばそんな心配もなく、ガンガン体をエンジンルームに突っ込めますよ。

"Convenient Fender Cover" Do you know a useful goods the Fender Cover. Fender Cover is a very useful tool when you are fixing your car, especially while working in Engine Room. Speed Master Wheel パリのカーショーで大人気

Nostalgiaなデザインだけに的を得たようにOval VW T-1にはSpeed Master Wheelが似合っていますね！

この写真、実はUSAではなくてフランス パリで開催されたカーショーに、フランスのVW誌 Super VW編集長 Julien君が自分の愛車にSpeed Master Wheelを履き、出展した時の模様です。写真は搬入時の為あまり人が写ってませんが、Speed Master Wheel はパリでも大人気だったとJulien君からメールが来たので皆さんに報告します。 Julien君のT-1はスタッドを加工してあるので17インチホイルの装着が可能になったのですが、やはり15"のノスタルジックなサイズがどうしてもほしいと思い、遂に15×5 5H205 +13mm Speed Master Wheelの製作を開始しました。順調に行けば4月30日(日）の第20回 SCN（ストリート カー ナショナルズ）で発表できるかもしれません。

実はこのSpeed Master Wheel、そもそもVW用として製作するつもりで開発が始まったのは3年前でした。ところが先に発売となったのはUSA車・国産車用ピッチ、でもどうしてもVW用を諦められず今回生産を決定したのです。足掛け4年のProjectです。 楽しみにしていてください。

This picture is not from U.S.A but from France at Car Show in Paris and French VW Magazine "Super VW" Head Editor Julien has sent us picture with his VW T-1 with Speed Master Wheel. Picture was taken in at set up day so no public audience are in photo, but as Julien reported that Speed Master Wheel was getting attention from crowd. Juliens T-1 has Stud changed to fit 17inch wheel. But Nostalgia design makes needs for 15 inch and we are now working on to make 15X5 5H205 +13mm Speed Master Wheel. If every goes well we should have it displayed at the 20th Street Car Nationals on April 30th in Tokyo, Japan. In fact this Speed Master Wheel was originally designed for VW T-1 in 3 years ago. But actually the wheel for domestic Japanese car and American car were released first. We made it as we couldn't resist to make them for VW T-1. It was four year project. Please look forward to its release.

エンケイ バハ ホイル

Crown ClassicsのProject Car、1969 Toyota Crown RS56 ピックアップ LHD、ホット ロッド・カスタム ショーで展示されていたのを気付かれた方も沢山いると思います。

8月2日のブログで紹介したピックアップです。その時は11月のクラウン ピクニックには完成予定とか書いてありましたが、12月のショーでも実はまだ半完成でした。　 あれもこれも色々やって行くうちに、あるべき物が無くなっていたり、頼んだ物が出来て来なかったり、誰かが物を倒して板金修理が必要になったり、内装屋に預けたままなかなか戻ってこなかったりで、一台クルマを仕上げるの大変ですね。 それでも一応は形にはなってきているのでこれから細かい所を仕上げて、何とか2006年4月30日の20回目を迎えるMOONEYES Street Car Nationalsには自走で参加を目指しています。4ヶ月あれば完成するでしょう。

それでも無理して今回ショーに展示したのはエンケイ バハ ホイルを是非見てほしかったからです。 30年近く前、一斉を風靡したエンケイ バハ ホイルが5スポーク ホイルに次いで復刻されたのです。エンケイ バハ ホイルに多くの思い出がある人が沢山いるのではないでしょうか？まさに青春のホイル、バハです。 14×6 5H114.3 +10のみの販売となりますが、これでますます5穴 114.3対象のクルマにホイルの選択幅が広がりました。 発売は3月頃を予定していますので楽しみにしていてください。

そしてもう一品、絶品のミラー GT053ミラーが間もなく発売になります。[2006年2月 販売開始しました] 写真ではドアミラーですが、フェンダー ミラーとしても取り付け可能なミラーなのです。優れ物でしょ。 僕ら世代はどちらかと言うフェンダー ミラー否定派ですが若い世代はフェンダー ミラー派結構いますよね。
しかしなかなかUSA的なシェイプのフェンダー ミラーはありませんね。USAはドア ミラーなんですからUSA的フェンダー ミラーが一般的にある訳ありませんね。そこでGT053ミラーの登場となったのです。クォリティーは既に実証済みのMOONEYES オリジナル ミラーはもうすぐ発売開始です。 2006年はエンケイ バハ、GT053ミラー、国産カスタムは夢あって楽しいですね。

"Enkei Baja Wheel" There may be many people who noticed the Crown Classic's 1969 Toyota Crown RS56 pick-up LHD project car displayed at the 14th Anuual YOKOHAMA Hot Rod Custom Show 2005. This is the pick-up introduced in the blog on August 2nd. In the November Crown Picnic, at the time it said expected to be finished and so on, but it was actually half way finished at the show on December. While doing this and that, things that should've been there were missing and out of place, the things ordered didn't come as expected, somebody knocked down something and needed to repair the sheet metal, the interior constructors didn't return the things lended to them, it's not quite that easy to finish a car. All things said, the car is coming into shape. With small parts left to do, we're aiming for the car to take part in the 20th MOONEYES Street Car Nationals on April 30th, 2006. With four months on our hands, it should be completed by then. The reason why we bent over backwards to display the Enkei Baja Wheel at the show was because we wanted everybody to see it. The Enkei Baja Wheel that influenced many people nearly 30 years ago, were reproduced with the 5 spoke wheels. Isn't there a lot of people who have memories of the Enkei Baja Wheels? Baja, the wheels from back in the day. 14x6 5H4.5 +10 is the only ones out but, with that, the selections of cars intended for the 5 hole 4.5" are increasingly getting larger. Look forward to the wheels they're expected to be out in March. And, One more product, the excellent GT053 mirrors, they're soon to be on sale. In the photo it shows a door mirror but, it can also be used as fender mirror. That's awesome. In my generation if anything we denied fender mirrors but, it seems many people now prefer fender mirrors in the younger generations. However, I can't seem to find a fender mirror shaped like the ones in USA. In the States the door mirrors are more often used so there shouldn't really be an American fender mirror in general, right? This is where the GT053 mirrors come into place. The quality of the MOONEYES Original Mirrors are already proven, they're soon to be on sale. In 2006, Enkei Baja Wheels & GT053 Mirrors, It's so fun customizing Japanese Domestic Old Cars because there's so much potential in it.

ここに紹介するのは60年代にMQQN Equipment Companyで発売されていたMQQN ゲージです。Dean MQQNの時代のゲージ類です。10年位前まではSwap Meetで見かけることが出来ましたが、近年のHot Rodブームもあり、Old Hot Rod 関連部品は簡単に見れなくなって来ました。 写真の一番奥にある4連ゲージはUS ゲージ製の2-1/16"スモールゲージ類です。今のゲージと違いメッキベゼル（縁）が薄くカッコイイですね。 昔のS/Wゲージもそうですが、ベゼルが細くスマートでした。このUSゲージはMQQN Equippedロゴがプリントされてますのでかなり古い物と思われます。 手前左側、Dean MQQNサイン入りケースに入っているのはMQQN Durometer,Rubber Hardness Tester、スリックタイヤの硬さ等を計るゲージです。 隣はJones/Motorola製 MQQN機械式タコメーター 10,000RPM、当時機械式タコメーターと言えばJones、沢山のレースカーに使われていました。CamAmレースカー等のコックピットで光っていたのがJonesです。 その隣はAir Densityゲージ、空気の濃さを計るゲージです。この様に当時のMQQNがいかにレース界に深く携わっていたかがこれらゲージの種類の豊富さでもわかりますね。 そして一番右がUSゲージと当時のパッケージです。 ゲージだけはまだ手に入るかもしれませんが　箱はなかなか残ってません。これらのゲージ全部、勿論made in USAです。MQQN Fuel Tanks, Gas Pedals, Guages等のOld MQQN Partsを探すのもSwap Meetめぐりの大きな楽しみの一つです。 オマケにWebber Down Draft用IntakeもMQQNの代表プロダクトです。 "Old MQQN Gauges" Introducing the MQQN Gauges sold by MQQN Equipment Company. They are Gauges sold in time of Dean MQQN. Used to able to find them in Swap Meet about 10 years ago but now days with Hot Rod boom in USA Old Hot Rod related parts are getting hard to find. 4 gauges set up in picture far side is made in US gauges with 2-1/16" size small gauges. They have thin trim bezels around on the edge of gauges that they don't make them in current models. The old S/W gauges are also made like that and they were smart looking with thin bezels. This US Gauge have MQQN Equipped Logo print which means it must be very old model. On the near left side in case signed by Dean MQQN is MQQN Durometer, Rubber Hardness Tester, on the side is the Jones/Motorola Made MQQN Mechanical Tachometer 10,000RPM. Back in the days, Jones were the most popular mechanical meters and many race cars used them. Race cars such as CamAm Race cars had this Jones shining in their cockpit. On the side is the Air Density Gauge, which measures density of air. Like so you can tell that how deeply MQQN Equipment was involved in race by these various variety of gauges. And far right is the US gauges with original packages. Gauges may be able to get them but the original Box is very rare. These gauges are all made in USA. Finding old MQQN parts like MQQN Fuel Tanks, Gas Pedals, Gauges in Swap Meet is one of fun part of doing Swap Meets. By the way Webber Down Draft Intake is also one of the popular MQQN products.

幻のZERO HALLIBURTON/MOONEYES Attache(アタッシュ)

MOONEYES/NICOSカードホルダーの方を対象に限定販売したMOONEYES YellowのZERO製 Z-2モデル アタッシュです。1998年10月発売開始、販売価格は当時￥52,000、限定150個でした。
	YellowにペイントされたケースにはMOON ロゴがエンボスで浮き上がり、蓋を開けた内側には ZERO/MOONEYES のダブルネーム入り アルミ製プレートがリベット止めされ、一つ一つナンバーリングがされています。 当時この企画を進めたのはZERO社の副社長で、彼は大のHot RodそしてMOONEYESファンだったので、ZEROにMOONEYES Logoが付くなんて考えても実現しそうもない話がとんとん拍子に進んでしまったのです。
全世界でも150個しかないZERO/MOONEYESのアタッシュです。当時のチラシには「29年前、1969年 アポロ11号と共にMOONへ入ったZERO．今 MOONから。。。」とありました。

"Phantom of ZERO HALLIBURTON/MOONEYES Attache" This issue is about the ZERO Z-2 model attache Limited edition MOONEYES Yellow color sold to MOONEYES/NICOS Credit Card holder. MOON シューズ

Dean MOON and his 34

MOON 生地で作られたデッキ シューズです。 MOON Equipped Logo は1960年代後半まで、1970年代に入ると黄色の MOON ロゴがポピュラーになってきたので、それから推測すると1960年代後半の製品でしょうか？かわいいシューズですね。 当時の MOON 商品は大変 Made in Japan が多く、このシューズももしかすると Made in Japan 物だったのかもしれません。当時の日本は Labor も安く、また$1が360円の時代、USAに取っては何でも安かったのでしょう。

Made in Japan の MOON 商品を集めるのは USA で静かなブームになっていますが、Tシャツやシューズのようにソフト物が多いのであまり残っていないようです。昨年、九州のイベントで Made in Japan の MOON カンバッチを売っているの見つけ分けもらいました。
ついでですがこの MOON Logo 入りテンガロンハットは（カウボーイハットを当時はこう呼んでいました）、日本では MOON ロゴ と言うとプラモデルのステッカーかこのテンガロンハットかと言うくらい1960年代後半はポピュラーでした。僕も兄貴達が軽自動車に乗り、この帽子を被っていたのを覚えています。当時は似合う似合わないに関わらず、テンガロンハットは凄い人気だったのです。流行ってそんなもんですね。

話はそれましたが1986年 MOONEYES を始めた際の最初の商品の一つは MOON Equipped ロゴとイエロー MOON の生地です。なぜなら自分で MOON ロゴ のシャツやシューズがほしかったのですね。その生地を使い USA の VANS 社に特別注文し製作したのがこの MOONEYES/VANS シューズです。当時は生地を VANS Shop に持って行けば大変少量からでも製作してくれたのでこの様なシューズが生まれました。勿論そんな少量ですから海外で作るわけでは無く Made in USA の VANS シューズです。 Mens, Ladies, Kids用まであったのですが、手元には数足が残るのみ。レアレストレアなMOONEYES/VANSシューズです。 また作りたいのですが、今は数が多くてとても作れません。

This is a deck shoes made of MOON Fabric. MOON Equipped Logo was used until late 60s, in 70s Yellow MOON Logo start to get popular, so from that fact it may be late 60s item, isn't that pretty shoes? There were many MOON items that were made in Japan at that time. May be this shoes too are made in Japan items. Japan than was still cheap labor to USA with 1$ being traded at 360 yen. Collecting MOON items that were made in Japan has become a little boom in USA. Items like T'shirts and Shoes with soft material were made in Japan and they are not many left there. Found some MOON can badge that were made in Japan in the event held at Kyushu in Japan last year and was able to get some. On addition to that, this cowboy hat with MOON Logo was so popular in the late 60s as either MOON Logo sticker on the plastic models or on this cowboy hat in Japan. I remember my brother and friends used to wear this hat and drive the small car (360cc). It wasn't matter of look good or not, it was such a huge boom. Trend is just like that. Back to the story, in 1986 when we started MOONEYES, first product made was these MOON Equipped Logo and Yellow MOON fabrics. That was because I wanted to have shirts and shoes made by that material only for myself. We ordered VANS Shoes in USA to make special shoes with MOONEYES material and this was that MOONEYES/VANS Shoes. VANS used to make from small quantity if we take material to them, so with that quantity they made it right there Made in USA. Used to have mens, ladies, kids and baby for my daughter but only few are left. Rarest rare MOONEYES/VANS Shoes. Would like to make them again but not possible as quantity required are too big now a days.

MOONEYES Dragster

MOONEYES Dragsterと言っても1960年代に米国Revelle社から発売されたMOONEYES Dragsterのプラモデルです。
	当時Dragsterの中で名声を博したMOONEYES DragsterはMOON Equipment Companyのハイパフォーマンスパーツの開発・テスト用にDean MOONにより製作されました。新品パーツの開発だけに留まらず、実際のレースでも数々の記録を作る名車となり、後にRevelle社の宣伝活動でヨーロッパを廻ったMOONEYES Dragsterは今でも現地で語り継がれるDragsterの一台です。

このプラモデルは当時人気絶頂のMOONEYES Dragsterと23年 Sanitary T'Bucket の2台セット、沢山のオプションパーツの中から色々な組み合わせで作れる夢のあるキットでした。 当時はどんな人がこのキットを作ったのでしょうか？この当時のRevelleのキットにはMicky ThompsonのAttempt 1とかEd Roth's Outlow ＆ Beatnik Bundit等、楽しい車が沢山ありました。一部キットは復刻再販されてますがMOONEYES Dragsterは残念ながらありません。だから余計に貴重なのです。

1963年にMOONEYES　Dragsterキットが発売され、1995年にKenji OkazakiのMOONEYES Funny Carが同じくRevelleから発売されました。どちらも今では入手不可能な貴重品です。 MOONEYESの名前はこのDragsterから来ました。

MOONEYES Dragster, its not real Dragster but 1/24 Plastic Models released from Revelle Inc USA. Dean MOON made MOONEYES Dragster for development trial of High performance parts by MOON Equipment Company, called Quarter Mile Test Bench and MOONEYES Dragster was most famous among the dragsters at that time. It has became a legend as not just for development of new parts but also the fact that MOONEYES Dragster became famous for breaking records of racing and later traveled around Europe with Revelle inc promotion. This 1/24 plastic model is a package of MOONEYES Dragster and 23 Sanitary T'bucket. It came with many option parts to combine to create your own and had dream. This kit even had Japanese instruction and was sold in Japan. I wonder who had bought and built them back them. Revelle 1/24 plastic model series had many fun car like Micky Thompson's Attempt 1, Ed Roth's Outlaw and Beatnik Bundit etc. Some of kits are reproduced but MOONEYES Dragster is not and that why its rare. In 1963 MOONEYES Dragster kit was first sold and in 1995 Kenji Okazaki's MOONEYES Funny Car was also released by Revelle. Now both kit is not easy to get and very rare item. That's where name of MOONEYES came from.

MOONEYESのレア物紹介

今回は商品でないMOONEYES物をご紹介しましょう。 20年目を迎えているMOONEYES、今迄いったい幾つMOONEYESのロゴ付き商品作ったのでしょうか？話している私も分かりません、20年前の商品を持っているだけでも大変貴重です。また一般に販売される事なく、沢山の人も目に触れる事も無かった製品もMOONEYESは沢山あります。 題して「MOONEYESのレア物紹介」

1997年頃、色々な過程を経て誕生したG-ShockのMOONEYES版です。結局販売用として市場に出回る事が無かった幻のアイテム。当時、MOONEYES スタッフに配布された物です。その数はたったの50個、まず見ることのない超レア物と言える1品だと思います。数が足りなかったので勤続年数の長いスタッフから配ったので、残念ながら全員に配布できませんでした。 MOONEYESのレアアイテムをこれから少しずつご紹介して行こうと思います。

"Introduction of the MOONEYES Rare Items, "G-Shock" This issue, will introduce rare MOONEYES Product that was and is not for sale. How many items with MOONEYES Logo have we made in these twenty years? Even I as I speak have no idea. I think It's just as rare to have 20 years old item. Also there are many items that were not for sale or which didn't appear to many people as only few were made or sold. So this issues title is "Introduction of the MOONEYES Rare Items". G-Shock watch by MOONEYES was made about 1997 after going through various kind of process. This item is a truly phantom like, rare as it ended up not to be sold on market. Only they were given to staff of MOONEYES. That Quantity is just 50. It is one of the very rare items that hardly has chance to see the item. Quantity was not even enough for all the staff, so it went to 50 from the longest with company. I would like to introduce some of the MOONEYES Rare Items from now on.

MOON Breather

信号に停まるたびにエンジン付近から煙がモクモク、臭いしカッコ悪いし、旧車オーナーの方で　エンジンのブローバイガスに悩まされている方は多いと思います。 MOON Breatherをカムカバーに取り付けた所、煙はすっきり、信号待ちも恥ずかしく無くなりました。旧車オーナーの方、是非お試し下さい。効果ありますよ。 Every stop at the light, smoke comes up from around engine. It's not cool and smells bad. Sure many old Japanese car owners have blow by gas problem. Fixed MOON Breather on Cam Cover and smoke is gone! No more embracement at the light. I recommend to try for old Japanese car owners. Definitely has good effect.

Think ライセンス フレーム！

白地に緑文字の日本のナンバープレートって味気ないですよね。品川、横浜、湘南ナンバー等がカッコイイと言っても違いは地名だけで、日本中どこに行こうと地域の名前が変わるだけです。最近ご当地ナンバープレートを増やす計画があるそうですが、それなら Idaho プレートに「Famous Potato」とかあるように横浜ナンバープレートなら下部に「シューマイ」とか入れる方が地域名を増やすより特徴があって面白いと思いませんか？
	それとは別に味気ないナンバープレート自体を飾るのがライセンスフレームと呼ばれるナンバープレートの枠です。USAでは付いていない車を探す方が大変なくらいポピュラーなこのライセンスフレーム。企業の宣伝から、車ディーラーの物や、Dog 好きオーナーの「I love my Dog」とか、「私の息子は学校で一番」なんて息子を自慢しまくっていたり、ライセンスフレームに書かれたフレーズを読むだけでも楽しい単純にしてアピール度の高いライセンスフレーム。日本ではまだまだポピュラーではありません。
好きな言葉のライセンスフレームを装着してもっと自分をアピールしましょう。 信号待ちで同じ車が隣に来てもライセンスフレームだけで違いを表現するには事足ります。家業が魚屋さんなら「●●鮮魚店」なんて描いて、下部に電話番号でも入れればもう最高。友人は「新鮮高級果実」なんて入れたライセンスフレームを装着しています。
	どうですヒラメキましたか？そうです今すぐ外に出て自分の車を眺めて下さい。白くて大きいぼやけたプレートがあなたの愛車を台無しにしてませんか？そう思ったらライセンスフレームを取り付けましょう。車の顔も後姿も引き締まりますよ！今、日本を走っている車に足りないのはナンバープレートのおしゃれです。 皆で Go! ライセンス フレーム
