Dean と納品に NHRA Museum へ行き、そのついでに9日(木)からはじまる
NHRA Drag Racing Winternationals を覗いて来ました。
行ったのは水曜日だったのでピットは静かでした。
Jim Dunn Racing は TAP IT と言う地ビールメーカのメインスポンサーで参戦、 MQQNEYES Logo も何時もの場所に見る事が出来ます。
I went with Dean to deliver goods to the NHRA Museum and from there we checked out the scene of NHRA Drag Racing Winternationals that will begin its season on the 9th (Thu).
We went on Wednesday so the pit area was quiet.
Jim Dunn Racing has a new main sponsor, a micro-brewery company called TAP IT. Also included in the same location as always, the MQQNEYES Logo can be seen on the front fender.

これは一見の価値ありです。そして古い Drag Bike を集めた本がこちらです。
この本も一見の価値ありです。

The NHRA Museum isn't just Race Cars but they also have a number of Drag Bikes on display too.
It's worth visiting the museum just to see these vintage bikes. There's a new book out with a historical look and Drag Bikes too. The book is also worth getting.

嬉しい事に Shop にチラシが来ていました。
遂に Santa Fe Springs にも日本食テイクアウトが出来ました。
30年前は Shop 隣にある Hungry Boy だけでした。しかし少しグリーシーなので毎日は食べれません。
その後向かいの Gas Station でさっぱり系サンドイッチを始めてくれたので選択が増えましたが
その Gas Station も廃業してしまいしばらく途方にくれていると 2 or 3 ブロック走る辺りに
色々できたのですがバブルだったのですね。今は残っていません。そして L&L Hawaiian Foods が
出来て「最高！」何て思っていましたが。そうしょっちゅうは食べれません。そして遂に満を期してこれが登場です。
誰が作っていようがそれらしい味なら関係ありません。とは言ってもクーポン Coupon がクポン Cupon に
なっているのがちょっと不安ですが。。。
何から食べてみましょうか？

I'm happy to learn about a new restaurant near the shop. Finally, there's Japanese take out in Santa Fe Springs. 30 Years ago there was only Hungry Boy located next door to the shop. However, it's a bit on the greasy side so it's hard to eat there every single day. After that there was a fresh sandwich place across the street at the Gas Station which gave us an option but eventually the Gas Station closed down. We were out of options until there were several places that popped up during the bubble about 2 or 3 blocks away. All of those are gone now. Until L&L Hawaiian Foods opened up which I thought, "Awesome!" However, I don't eat there very often. After years of waiting, now there's this new place. Who opened the shop or how it tastes really doesn't matter at this point. Although, the fact that their flier spells Coupon incorrectly as CUPON does have me a little uneasy... 東の空がブルー＆ピンクです。今朝は昨日とうって変わって良い天気のようです。
The eastern sky is blue & pink. This morning was completely opposite of yesterday and the weather looks great.

今日USAの火曜日24日です。本日はShopとNHRA Museumを３往復して MQQN Trike, MQQNEYES Dragster, そして Chico's LSR 533 Roadster ３台を運び込みました。
と言ってもこの Blog がアップされる JPN 土曜日には MQQN Exhibit Kick Off Party が丁度始まる時間くらいですから続きは Twitter に入れておきます。
On Tuesday Jan. 24, the MQQN Trike, MQQNEYES Dragster and Chico's LSR 533 Roadster were delivered to the NHRA Museum. At the time of this blog post, Saturday in Japan, there's a MQQN Exhibit Kick Off Party being held at the NHRA Museum. I'll post pictures via my Twitter account.

月曜日の大雨で山はすっかり冬景色になりました。
昨日は異常な雨だったのでFWYでは事故多発、朝 3台前を走っていたシビックはいきなり右を向いたかと思ったらそのままガードレール (コンクリートの壁) に激突、エアーバッグが開き室内が真っ白になっていました。 5回は事故を見ましたが横転、激突、追突等どれも激しい物ばかりでした。日本ではまず見られない光景でした。
After Monday's heavy rainfall, the mountains have a winter scenery feel. It was an unusual amount of rain and the FWY had many accidents. In the morning, just three cars in front of me a Civic suddenly turned sideways and then crashed right into a guardrail (concrete barrier). You know the airbag opened because the interior was all white. I saw as many as 5 accidents that day, spin outs, median/barrier crashes, and rear end collisions, all are violent. Not something you see everyday.

幸い保証期間だったので Computer を無償で交換、その後 11月迄何の問題も無く走っていたのに

ここで Dealer へ再度持ち込み点検してもらったけどあいにく同じ症状が出ない、
原因不明のまま戻されそうになった時

が発生し、これで直る！と思っていたら。
Dealer での結論はバッテリーが駄目だったと言う事となり New Battery に交換され戻って来た Magnum,
バッテリー?!? 「確かに３年位交換した事なかったな」と思いつつでも「でもバッテリー?」と
何とも腑に落ちない結末を迎えた訳です。
12月の MQQNEYES USA Xmas Show の際は問題無かったと言いたけど実は一回不安になる動きをしたのですが
その後問題なかったので「バッテリーだったのかな？？」と思い込む事にし
今回、一回目のストップと同じ場所で同じ時間くらいに同じ事が発生 (前回と違うのは雨でなく曇りだった事)、
しかし前回の復習があり再度エンジンが掛かる事は分かっていたので再始動し走ろうとすると今度は動かない、
しばらくするとガクンとギアが入り普通に走るが信号で止まるエンジンも止まる。またまた問題発生！
結局 Long Beach の Motorcycle Swap Meet に行く事は断念し帰宅。
フラットベットのトラックを呼び会社まで運んでもらう事になった。
どうせ Dealer へ持って行っても原因不明となる事まず間違いなし。
売り時かな～。

It's been just about one year since, I was making a right turn when my engine stalled. I put it in Park, restarted the car, shifted to Drive but it didn't move. After a few moments, the car moved. After I brought it to the Dealer, I was happy to learn it was covered under warranty and they replaced the computer. After that, there were no issues at all until last November

I brought it again to the Dealer but couldn't recreate the problem. After they looked at it without reproducing the problem, I went to pick it up

when the problem occurred again! I thought great! They will fix it.
The conclusion from the Dealer was that the battery was bad, so their fix was replacing the battery and sending me home with the Magnum.
Battery?!? Initially, I thought, "Sure, it was about three years since exchanging the battery... but the battery?" It was a conclusion that I just couldn't understand.
In December, around MQQNEYES USA Xmas Show, although there had been no problems with the car, there was one time when it acted strange but other than that, no problems so I started to think, "Maybe it was the battery??"
However, this time it stalled once again, in the exact location as before, doing the same turn (the only difference was last time it was raining, this time it was cloudy).
Remembering the last time this happened, I restarted the engine, put it in Drive but this time, it wouldn't move. After a few more moments I heard it click and shift into gear and it moved normally again but when I stopped for the light at the intersection, the engine stopped too. Another problem!
In the end, I lost hope at going to Long Beach for the Motorcycle Swap Meet like I planned. Instead, I called AAA for a flatbed truck and had it brought to the MOONEYES Shop.
Why bring it to the Dealer again, as I'm sure they would say it's an unknown cause.
Maybe it's time to sell...

I learned a lot from the driver of the Peterbilt Flatbed, whom is really into Lowriders. For example, a set of 4 Tru Spoke Wheels costs $2,000.

今朝はこれに乗っけてもらって出勤です。

なかなかいいコンディションの様です。しかも SS。

26回目のMQQNEYES Street Car Natinals (SCN)が 4月29日(日）東京お台場、何時もの場所で開催です。
今年も会場側の協力で同じ規模で開催可能となりました。楽しい時間を共有しましょう。
昨年は退出後、一般道で飛んだり跳ねたりする大きな車が多かったです、ある車は飛んでいるうちに横にそれて行き、隣の車とあわや！ってシーンを何度も観ました。年寄りの我々主催者に取っては心臓に悪いのでそう言うのは辞めて下さい。SCN に来る車はどれも十分存在感ありますからそれ以上アピールしなくても大丈夫です。静かに並んでいる方がカッコいいよ！
エントリー受付開始は今週土曜日からです。
26th Annual MQQNEYES Street Car Nationals (SCN) is set for April 29 (Sunday) in Odaiba Tokyo at the same location as before, Aomi Parking Area. There will be other events taking place around the same area as well this year. It will be an enjoyable day for everyone.
Last year at the end when people were leaving, there were several cars that I saw getting on the main street and flooring it. One of them I saw got sideways right next to another car. Being the show promoter and an old person, seeing this is bad for my health so I ask that everyone leave calmly and refrain from getting crazy. All of the cars that are SCN are simply perfect as is inside the show and there should be no need for added appeal upon leaving the show. That said, strolling out quietly is very cool!
We'll be accepting entry applications staring this Saturday!

今後も White Body の MQQN Equipped Shirts は作るかもしれませんが Reyn Spooner製は今回限りです。

The black base shirt is a MQQNEYES USA 20th Anniversary limited edition version, which I posted about recently but the white base shirt is still very much limited as well. The black base is limited to just 200 while the white is limited to 400 made. Reyn Spooner produced MQQN Equipped Shirts are limited worldwide to only 600.
Perhaps we will make a white version MQQN Equipped Shirt some time in the future but for this special Reyn Spooner batch, this is it.

2012年5月17日 MQQN Cafeは20周年を迎えます。
1991年5月17日、最初のMQQN Cafeは２軒隣で50s Styleでオープンしました。
Seeburg のジュークボックスはテーブル上のセレクターから好きなミュージックを選曲でき
クローズドキッチンスタイルでしたし席数も今より多かったと思います。
カウンター席は禁煙席としましたが　喫煙出来る席だけが一杯でお待ちになるお客様からは
「なぜカウンターが空いているのに座れないの？！」との声が多くすぐメゲ、
全面喫煙可となりつい数年前まではその状態でしたが神奈川県指導により今はめでたく全面禁煙での営業となっております。
1996年7月13日現在の場所で60s Style Coffee Shopとして新たに営業を開始しました。
月日が経つのは早いもので20年を迎えようとしています。
飲食業の20年は小売業の20年とはまた違うハッスルが沢山ありました。
そして今の店長はGin前田君、初代店長はE藤君、初代アルバイトはGoshu君でした。

May 17, 2012 MQQN Cafe celebrates its 20th Anniversary.
May 17, 1991, the first MQQN Cafe was two buildings down and opened as a 50s style diner.
It had a Seeburg jukebox that customers could select to play music from right at their table and the cooking are was a closed kitchen style environment. I think there used to be more seating though.
Initially, the counter was non-smoking only but at the time only the smoking section would be full and a lot of customers would ask, "Why is the counter seating open?!" So, we decided to make all seating available to smokers.
That was how it was until recently when the new law passed in Yokohama prohibiting smoking and we happily changed all indoor seating to a non-smoking environment.
July 13, 1996 in its current location, we reopened the cafe as a 60s style Coffee Shop.
Time has passed so fast and now it's been 20 years.
20 years of food and beverage service takes a different hustle compared to 20 years of retail service.
The current cafe manager is Gin Maeda, the first manager was E. To along with first generation part-timer Goshu.
We are currently working on something special for the MQQN Cafe 20th Anniversary so stay tuned!!

2011年 SCN から始まった MQQNEYES のイベントを一年通して手伝ってくれた Helper の方々への感謝と、日頃の激労に頑張ってくれている MQQNEYES Staff の慰労を兼ねた MQQNEYES の Xmas Dinner がゲストの方々をお招きし先週日曜日開催されました。
今や Helper の方々無しには MQQNEYES のイベントは成り立ちません。 Helpers には Old Guys と Old Boys のグループがあり Old Guys (OG) は平均年齢 54歳位、もうイベントを手伝ってくれて 25年近いベテランばかり、そして Old Boys (OB) は元 MQQNEYES の Staff だった Boys 達です。さすが元 Staff だけあってイベント運営の要領は心得た物です。
彼らは何処のイベントでも一人で２－３人分の働きが出来る位経験豊富、動きが良いですし指示が無くても動いてくれるので
大変助かります。もう一つは MQQNEYES のお客様 MQQNEYES Customer (MC) のグループです。
OB も MC も皆まだバリバリですが OG は寄る歳には勝てず人により疲労がきつくなって来た様なので 2012年には「55歳定年制」を設け「そろそろ」と思っている OG に Helper 卒業のチャンスを作ろうと思っています。
「いや俺は手伝うよ」って言ってくれる方は勿論喜んで宜しくお願いします！
と言う慰労会をかねた Christmas Dinner でもあった訳です。

Last week Sunday was the MQQNEYES Xmas Dinner, which is held every year to give thanks to all the hard working MQQNEYES Staff and the event helpers that have been a part of the crew in 2011 starting with SCN.
Now a days, it's just not possible to conduct a MQQNEYES event without the helpers. There are two groups of helpers, Old Guys (OG) that average in their 50s. These guys have been helping out for close to 25 years now. The other group, Old Boys (OB), are previous MQQNEYES Staff. Being former staff, they have an understanding of how events work so it helps a lot.
All of them put in work, whether it's 1, 2-3 people, they have the experience and it really makes a big differnce. There's one other group, MQQNEYES Customer (MC) group.
The OB and MC groups are still very active and work hard but the OG group is aging and as one gets older is gets harder to keep up. So in 2012 we'll establish an OG retirement age of 55. That way the helpers will be able to have that chance to step out.
For those that think, "No, I'll still help out." Of course, we'll still welcome your assistance!
